<SOLVED> No Knox App? - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just curious, I saw the knox app om all international and Tmobile versions but I cant find it on my att version. BY Knox I mean the secure profile switcher.
Update 1 :
Koars215 received a correspondence from Samsung:
"after days on days of speaking with att and samsung... corporate finally spilled the beans lol this is coming from samsung mouth the agent told me that att push the device for purchased and did not look over the software in full before putting it on the shelf. They said the reason we can see the knox app in the installation manager is because by default it should be. Also its something that cant be found on its samsung app market place.
END RESULT: Samsung said within the next 1-2 weeks it will push a software update for At&t and t-mobile(i had no clue t-mobile was having the same issue)"
Update 2:
Get the knoxstub.apk from note 3 international and placed it in system after being rooted and now knox is working perfect. Tnx to cburnett
Update 3:
Knoxstub is attached. Tested and it works :good: Tnx to cburnett for the file.
Just open the apk and install normally and let it do its thing.

Exactly I can't find it either.

Me neither. It's strange

To activate it go to Security>Device Administrators.
Word to the wise, if you care about Root or Bootloader Unlock; becareful. No one really knows what Knox changes hardware wise, IF it even changes anything hardware wise and software wise.
Unfortunately there's no way for us on AT&T N3 to disable it completely. But so far, it's not running on mine.

How do you use Knox on the att version? How do I get credentials for it

Still it doesn't show up after I activate it.

Same here checking knox in administrators does nothing. Could it be that I'm using the sim from my note 2 and not the one that was in the box?

Guys Knox is not an app. It's a security protocol that keeps your information private and also your activity. Anything done in Knox, stays in Knox. Once it's activated it's on and monitors your security.
Here's some more information on how it works.... http://www.samsung.com/global/business/mobile/solution/security/samsung-knox
At&t Note III...& At&t G Pro

mine don't work either

@Jammol your wrong on the the other company's such as sprint there is an/a app on the home screen that allows you to place things inside the container and also Knox have its own store with supported apps. I was on the phone with Samsung advanced tech support and they were scratching their head on why it isn't installed on the device but it is found in the installation manager

I said its not an app because I don't classify it as one. Yes its a container, an environment, an app.

I will keep you guys updated this will be round 2 with advance tech support (samsung+att)... My guess is if others are having this problem that they will end up pushing a update that fixes this problem. My buddy got the Note 3 for sprint and i saw that its visible from the home screen and had to download the knox store onto the note 3. When i later got my note 3 from att that was the first app i looked for and i wasn't available.

LoJack coming to Samsung GALAXY S4

Leveraging the same Absolute persistence technology used in LoJack® for Laptops, owners of Samsung GALAXY S4 will soon have an Android security software to recover their stolen smartphone. If stolen, only the Absolute Theft Recovery Team can help locate and return your smartphone. In addition, if the smartphone is lost, you can remotely delete files or lock the smartphone so nobody can access your stuff.

I could have really used this in June...I was on a cruise and my phone got stolen in a matter of minutes
Was watching a comedy show in the auditorium, left phone on chair to go get some napkins and boom...gone!!! i had lookout, but it doesn't do any good if there is no data in the open seas
At least with this, if they can't track it down, they will replace it

Also, would this work if we are rooted stock/rooted custom?
or do we have to be unrooted Stock?
Its probably for enterprise phones like businesses and corps. They are the ones who would pay for security. Apple has a new feature that to use the phone you must sign into your apple cloud account and it stores your phone data and such there. If someone pops out your sim and tries to use it they have to sign in and if would fail because that device registers with your account only. A FREE feature btw. Samsung google and apple had a meeting in nyc about theft and possibly a kill switch on phones.
The only downside is the kill switch will be controled by the carrier so they can shut you down if they wanted to. #NSA

it's also for personal users
I called them today and they said it won't work if you are rooted and they said they have some "persistant" thing that makes it install OTA. but if someone roots your phone and installs a custom rom it won't work....but i guess the benefit of this is that if it does get stolen, they will give you 90% of the value, which at this point is $600

Can anyone else report either success or failure of Google Hangouts videochat via AT&T LTE? I'm on the verge of upgrading from a Note 2 to a Note 3, but I think I'll wait if Hangouts doesn't work properly yet.

My ATT Note 2 blocked Hangouts video on LTE until a month ago--then it started working.
However, I just got an ATT Note 3 and it once again blocks Hangouts video on LTE. This is in the same geographic location and using the same ATT account that was previously associated with my Note 2.
The Note 2 and Note 3 both show the same Hangouts version: 1.2.018 (849105-30).
I'm guessing nobody's work's over cellular?
I try a couple times a day and still says need wifi.

I found this several months back on XDA. Gtalkenabler_v1.1.1.apk modified. Must be rooted and works in GS3, Note 2 and Note 3. Allows you to receive and make hangout calls on LTE and 3/4g.

Thanks, but most of us are aware of the mods. It's actually just as easy to do it through an SQL editor than to have that running all the time. We were more concerned that were previously able to do it with the S4 and not now.
Also I would recommend Wannam Xposed for any kind of hacks if your rooted, to include enabling hangouts. It works without problems like the Gtalkenabler and the SQL editor.
I have the same problem. About a week ago I read an article. It said AT&T announced it but wouldn't fully rolled out until the end of the year.

[Q] Knox and AT&T Next Program

hey guys,
I'm considering rooting my GN3 because I miss a number of the things from my rooted GN1/2. I recently picked up my new GN3 via the AT&T Next program and was wondering what sort of issues/implications I'll run into if I decide to root my GN3 and trigger the Knox 0x1 flag.
Will they not take it in as a trade next year when I'm ready to upgrade?
I'm not concerned about warranty, or lack thereof for that matter. But if AT&T decides to not allow me to upgrade after 12 months, then I'll reconsider rooting.
Thanks guys, and my apologies for the dumb question.
I'd assume anything that affects warranty would affect the next program.

I didn't even think about that. I guess you could always sell it and pay off what you owe and then get a new device if it was a factor.
You're better off selling it yourself. In 12 months you'll have paid off $420 so you'll owe $310. You should be able to get at least $450 if you list it right on ebay. Keep the box and all the original stuff and unlock it. That is enough to pay the remainder as well as have an extra $140 to put towards your next device.

I have sent phones back to att using the warranty in bricked status, when they had the counter thing I also sent with the counter tripped and every time I get support on my devices I have never been asked about the rooting or never been searched for the Knox status. I really doubt it they will know what Knox is.
Trust me they know. They techs are all trained and required to know about that. They can use that against you to void warrenty...but you might ocassionally find a tech or 2 that doesnt care. I soft bricked mine myself. I made a total noob move and wiped the stock system and tried booting into the rom slot. Biggg no no. Came to realize the phone boots into stock before stock slot...so I couldn't even boot into safestrap...just got a samsung logo boot and black screen. It wouldnt even charge either. Luckily knox wasnt tripped because that was the only way to get the phone to work. Dont make a noob move like what I did. Im still embarresed that happened and I been flashing for about 3-4 years now.

That thread has been around since August. I would venture to say if there was a way, we would have it here. It's unfortunate, but it really doesn't cause nearly as many issues as people think it would. There have been plenty of members to make warranty claims and return their devices to T-Mobile and a word hasn't been said. Most workers at T-Mobile probably don't even know to look for it; they have so many phones they deal with on a daily basis that checking for knox being tripped isn't on their priority list.
I'm using it on ATT though and bought off contract.

I have read that there are Tmobile Note 4 with Rent A Center firmware installed and people are able to install "normal " Tmobile firmware without tripping Knox. That would mean that there is a way to keep Knox at 0 and install modified firmware. I just wonder if that requires special equipment to flash those phones to RAC modification or simply people didn't discover "trick" yet?

I've been waiting for this too but looks like no one is working on it
And it seems like after rooting, we must flash a custom rom or else some of the features will not work.
I hope to be getting a job in a couple of months, and would love to use my note 4 there. But not sure if they will let me use a phone with Knox tripped.
Rent a center is considered as... Sort of a provider. They have an agreement with Samsung which enables them to install custom firmware, which if it is similar to their laptops, allows them to "lock" the device if their RIDICULOUSLY expensive payments are not made. Its fraud insurance in a way.
I am not sure how you would go about getting around knox. But I wouldn't hold my breath. Its looking like it might be a little while...

My friend bought his note 4 with rent a center it does have a firmware different than tmobile, my friend updated using kies and it installed all of the tmobile bloat and basically the stock rom, with knox already Tripp when he bought it

With the impending charge locking update, what are options to keep the Note 7 going?

I'd like to get the Pixel XL, but as it stands it still seems that isn't yet in stock and I have my doubts it'll be available by the nineteenth of this month.
Is there a way to keep the phone from auto updating like it did with the 60% charge restriction without having to root?
Will rooting and using a custom ROM become the only way to keep the Note 7 running come the new update?
Will rooting then impact returning the phone with T-Mobile? Or can you return it to "stock" in order to do so?
I'm rooted with stock os, I just disabled all the samsung crap and didn't get the previous update. So I don't see this coming either. I used titanium backup freeze/ remove method and haven't had any unauthorized updates pushed to my phone. At this point is only way you can do it or else be stuck unable to charge your phone in a week.
Tiger, I've never rooted a phone, but I'm no tech dummy either. What is a good resource to walk me through the process? What will I need to download? PC vs. Mac?

Only way at this point is download the vanilla firmware in the download section. Flash it via Odin, root it right away, and don't let it get online. Load titanium, find the app to download to sd card, then disable to your hearts content and you will be able to keep your phone.

Got an iPhone 7 plus today in matte black. So far so good. Couldn't resist the price so I went for it. T-Mobile is now refunding me my money for the note 7 lol. I'll just wait for Note 8.

you can roll back to the previoupreviouss firmware get rid of the 60% update but thats it.
i am also not aware of any package disablers which work now either to prevent the next OTA

I use a Verizon Note 7 with my tmobile sim. Never receives updates. All of my samsung phones in the last 4 years has been verizon phone using tmo sims. If I ever wanted to get an update I used Kies. I will never connect my note 7 to kies or any samsung SW.

I'm thinking of turning in my phone for a Gear S3. That way I can still use Samsung Pay. I'll just fire up my Note 3 and wait for the Note 8. I'll just keep my two S-pens for the Note 3. They even fit into the Note 3's silo.
