[Discontinued] [HOW TO] Root, Stock, ODIN For P3113UECLK7 - Galaxy Tab 2 7" Android Development

This is nothing more than a pre-rooted completely stock image that you would flash in Odin.
It is based off of this stock image: P3113UECLK7_P3113XACCLK7_HOME.tar.md5
Simply adds the SuperSU apk v0.99 and su binary.
From there you can chose to install busybox, flash a non-stock recovery, etc.
It DOES NOT wipe any data. So if you are coming from a completely different rom base then you will want to boot to recovery and factory reset.
This is good for getting back to known good state after you may have flashed something and now have weird behavior going on. Also good if you want to run stock but just have root for a few apps like adaway or tibu.
Instructions:
Extract the root66_xxx_.tar.md5 from the .7z file you downloaded.
Use Odin, put device into download mode, connect to computer and open Odin.
once in odin click the PDA field and select the root66_xxx_.tar.md5 you downloaded.
Leave Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checked.
click start and
when done let device reboot.
If you have issues flashing with Odin please ensure you are using the microusb cable that came with the device, users have had issues using other cables.
Choose One:
Download: root66_XAC_P3113UECLK7.7z - JellyBean 4.1.1
Download: root66_XAR_P3113UECLK7.7z - JellyBean 4.1.1

Few questions....
I see in your signature you had AOKP. Did you flash this direct from AOKP? This doesn't wipe data and since it goes back to stock its still trying to use all your /data from aokp. You'd want to boot into recovery and do a factory reset coming from a different rom base than stock.
Also I use the Region XAC stock file. There is also an XAR. Does anyone know the difference? Samsung-updates seems to list XAC as N/A for region while XAR as Cellular South but I think I read the opposite from someone on the forum here.

Nah haven't updated my profile in a while. I had actually come from stock 4.0.4 i believe in my case atleast that my battery simply wasn't charged well enough.

Close. That thread shows you step by step how to do it yourself using mobile Odin lite using original official unmodified update files. This thread seems to give you one file to flash with Odin. Haven't tried this file yet...yet.

There are a few differences. To use that thread your device has to be rooted. Here it does not.
In that thread you are using mobile odin to flash the stock file, then using recovery to flash root. Here root is pre-injected into the stock firmware. You can use mobile odin to flash this and be done. (unless you want a non-stock recovery etc).

Yes though you mention to use the XAR file and I've pre-injected the XAC. Outside of what you've said I can't find what region would be for what tablets. I'll post up the XAR as well and let the user pick.

XAR region uploaded..

I found this suggestion to be quite helpful. I was coming from Tsunami and found if it would not boot to go back and factory reset. Thanks!

Interestingly I am having a problem using TWRP to backup this ROM. TWRP FCs and the Tab reboots before any data is written to the SD card. It does create the named backup folder but dies early on in the backup process. Going to try CWM next but the backups created by CWM and TWRP are not compatible. TWRP has worked fine on all the other ROMs I tried. I need to perform more testing.

I have got exactly the same issue like this one when I was trying
root66_XAR_P3113UECLK7.7z - JellyBean 4.1.1
on my P3113. The tablet seems frozen at this stage and if I hold the power botton and let it reset, it will come back at the same screen with the progress bar unchanged.
My P3113 is with stock ICS ROM and rooted.
I cant do factory reset because when I trying to go to recovery mode, this screen shows up...

I got the same result as well, eventhough Odin said pass. Funny thing is I put in download mode again and flash this official firmware from France. The Odin said failed, but after I reboot all good.

You must have lost the root by flashing the official stock rom, right?
I was thinking to flash the stock ICS rom for P3113 someone post on this board also but don't want to go through the hustles to root it again

Yes, I lost root. But I end up flash USA official firmware again and used this root method . It's very easy, took 15 sec. I came from CM10.1 nightly, but want to try official JB from Samsung. Actually, it's smooth and fast. Maybe I stick to it, I am tired of update everyday for CM10.1.

Removed post.

i tried this from a corrupted cm10.1 nighlty custom kernel which is stuck on the samsung galaxy tab 2 logo. odin was successful, i got pass the android screen shown in the previous post but now im stuck on the samsung logo with the blue orb. help

Boot to recovery and factory wipe.

Removing the my external SD card did the trick for me.

Thanks cumanzor. One small comment like yours and it relieves a major headache for me, thanks again.

thanks for this! (I already hit the "THANKS" button)...
I must say, that I was skeptical there'd by much, if any, difference between this and RomsWell v1.1 and/or kwbr Espresso.... but! There is at least one fundamental difference: the screen rotation is proper! -- e.g. Bejeweled 2 doesn't flip itself upside when my wife plays it -- whereas with the aforementioned ROMs, it did.
EDIT: Another [awesome] plus, is that I no longer get "Missing hardware ID" when I connect my tablet to my PC (it also shows as GT-P3113, not GT-P3110).
EDIT 2 (revised 11 March): overall performance is fantastic. Battery is amazing!: in a 24-hour period, stand-by used ~20% of battery (I thought I'd turned my tablet off, and when I went to use it -- a day later, I realized I'd never turned it off).
Nice to have an official release, esp with r00t ^_^

wipe cache and dalvik cache via CWM...also, TWRP isn't official for tab 2 afaik, so if you're not using CWM-based recovery, I would flash that, then retry to zip file. I was successful on the first attempt...
EDIT: I would even format /system, then re-flash the ROM... I usually do that anyway before I flash a new ROM.

Yeah, I reinstalled the Stock Rom w/Stock Recovery last night, before attempting this latest Rom. Figuring the Stock Recovery would wipe thoroughly enough. I am off to go have dinner and do not have the time right now, but will try a thorough wipe with CWM Recovery and another attempt to install this Rom when I return. Will post my results then.
Thank you, for your response...!

I believe it is related or requires a Linux Box/Ubuntu, I have seen tutorials around here in the XDA Forum, but I am little bit short of time right now to dig one out of Google, but was able to find this one to provide you with an example. to illustrate how it requires a md5 check sum that is only able to be produced in a Linux Box of some sort, though command line.

Nope...?, I have triple wiped cache and dalvik cache, factory/data, and to no dismay have I been able to avoid a boot-loop.
I am using CWM Recovery version 6.0.2.3 Touch, and like I mentioned, all it does is boot-loop.
FYI; I have also found a Sammobile download consisting of a number of (XAR) Stock Roms to bring me to the point of this build, as well as, tried multiple times to updated via WiFi, and it all comes down to this particular build. That my device gets caught in a boot-loop. I am not sure what it is with this build, but it just does not want to fit on my device.

Yeah...!, I have no problem. The problem is P3113UECLK7 Rom, I get to P3113UEBLH2 the last update offered by Samsung, and it gets stuck in a boot-loop when it reboots.
I even started over with a Odin Flash of a Stock Rom & Recovery, and then work my way up to the third update P3113UEBLH2. Everything continues to work fine, until I get the Jelly Bean 4.1.1 update no matter if it is a Stock OTA update or a Modified (Rooted) update, forced through Odin or even assisted through Kies. After it reboots it is stuck in a endless boot-loop.
I even let it sit on the charger over night, to see if it just needed sometime to load.

it's been my experience, that touch-based recovery" [on the GT-P3113] doesn't play well with others." for example, I was unable to flash kwbr espresso when I had touch-based recovery (either twrp or cwm-based, I forget -- doesn't matter) on my tablet.
flash 6.0.2.3 non-touch-based recovery (yeah, I know, having to use the vol +/- keys sucks ^_^) and try again. :good:
(and I would freeze the software update app(s) in TiBu. since I'm sure you know that you can't flash OTA's with custom recovery - that's one cause of a bootloop)

[Q] Help!, Android robot + blue bar after OTA update..

hi guys, I need help!
my wife's galaxy Note has a rooted 4.1.2 (I rooted few months back for her)
Yesterday she saw a push OTA update on her phone and pressed update (I told her not to update long ago but she forgot-.-" sigh)
the update was successful and rebooted. After reboot the phone shows only the Green Android robot and below a blue bar, flashing.
I told her to let it be for the whole NIGHT (6+ hours) but its still the same. Force restarting is the same.
Can anyone help me what to do? Im not familiar with Samsung devices (I use Sony myself)
What do I have to do? boot into some mode? if yes please tell me how?
Much appreciated, Thanks a lot in advance!!!:

Try this, reboot into recovery (Vol up, home and power) then wipe cache and dalvik. Don't know if that will work.
If not I think you'll have to flash rom afresh using pc odin.
P. S.. Usually if your rooted, ota updates won't work, has to be complete stock kernel.

If you just wipe cache and dalvik you won't lose anything. No way of undoing update without reflashing, there is a chance if you flash the correct rom it won't wipe data.

That just means it's in download mode. To exit, turn off and on again.
Sounds like you're missing recovery. Try downloading phillz lsz kernel and flash with pc odin, that should give you recovery, then I think you'll have to do a full reset from recovery which means you'll lose all data.
Other option is to flash full rom for your region using pc odin.
Your rom is corrupt and recovery has gone so you need to replace both rom and kernel, up to you how you do it.

Ota updates usually include kernel updates, so it would have part flashed the kernel and failed half way, perhaps because it realised you were rooted. The kernel includes recovery mode.
The download is what was completed, on finishing download the phone then reboots and flashes the update, this is the screen your stuck on. It won't complete because you're rooted.

[Q] GT-I9305: Problems After CF Root on 4.3

Hey, folks.
First-time listener, first-time caller.
My Galaxy SIII GT-I9305 originates from Hong Kong.
When I bought it (used, on Kijiji) it was running 4.1.2
When 4.3 finally became available for this model a couple of weeks ago I bit the bullet and installed it using Kies.
I knew 4.3 had issues but I went ahead anyway because I live dangerously, dontcha know.
Today I decided I wanted root so, instead of taking my time and reading the sage advice of kind people like you I jumped right in with ODIN and Chainfire using Instructions I found on these forums and elsewhere.
The rooting procedure seemed to go off without a hitch. Then the phone booted up. Then this started happening:

Selecting "Update" brings me to this:
And anything I do that requires root gives me this:
I tried re-rooting using a different version of ODIN to no avail.
Posters in other threads suggested re-installing SuperSU.
I tried executing superuser.apk using ES File Explorer and got this:
Incidentally, in Download Mode I can see that I've triggerd the Knox Void Warranty Flag, not that I have a warranty.
At this point I just want to get my phone to work as it did with stock 4.3.
What's my quickest route there?
Upgrade SuperSu
Fails in recovery format system cache data and sdcard.
Boot to download mode flash stock rom via Odin.
I don't think the root operation was successful; the Root Checker apps I downloaded hang when I check. I tried launching Titanium Backup and it hangs, too, at "Asking for root rights".
In fact, any time I launch any app that needs root I get the Security Information warning as in my first screenshot.

I don't know how to upgrade SuperSU.
The Play Store says it's already installed, and I see no way to uninstall it.

Are you suggesting this as a last resort?
I downloaded what looks like the right firmware from sammobile.com. Is that a reliable source?

I don't have a custom recovery installed. Should I install one? TWRP?
Mounts and storage? What do you mean by that?
Format? As in I should boot into recovery and choose "wipe data/factory reset"? Can't I do that from stock recovery?
Is this something I have to do before I flash the stock firmware? After?
I'm really confused.
p.s. as it turns out the download from sammobile's host, terrafile, has failed six or seven times now. Are there any mirrors?
Rooting is not working withe. The same problem as post 1 has. What is going on with these phones...
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda app-developers app
Root problem
I too had root problems-rooting OK and then losing it on a restart. This is a GT-I9305 LTE,XXUEMLl5 EE UK firmware and Cf Auto root downloaded from Chainfire's site.I did find 2 versions of the Autoroot file slightly different sizes but both work (up to a point-read on).
So,initially installed 4.3 firmware with PC Odin and Autorooted with same setup. Here's the first catch. As stated by Chainfire, the phone should reboot into stock recovery. If it doesn't you need to do this "manually" and then just reboot-see Chainfire thread.2nd catch.I read somewhere that "Fix permissions" could upset the rooting process,so I wouldn't do that whilst in stock recovery at this stage.
You now should have a rooted firmware but my problem was that if I restarted I would lose the root
My solution was to use Mobile Odin Pro.I know it costs but it did work for me and that make's it worth every penny.Read on.
Whilst you've still got root install the firmware again with MO Pro.This installs root and SuperSu using Everoot.Reinstalling the Supersu or upgrading will possibly tell you that your SU Binary needs updating. When I tried "Normal" it didn't work.At the moment you don't have custom recovery installed,so using MO Pro again install TWRP using their "Open recovery tar" and try updating SU by selecting TWRP/CWM.When script has installed reboot and no more prompt to update binary.I didn't try CWM.Read somewhere it might not work.TWRP does.
Now I have a rooted phone with stock 4.3 on it.Root survives a restart and much use removing all the bloatware that Samsung provide for us.
But that's another story.
I hope this post helps those with root problems.Going through the stages above, working, not working, took a long time but I do now have a rock solid fast 4.3 phone.
Anyone fancy a KitKat?
P.S.Just booted the phone into TWRP and tried fixing permissions.Thankfully still have root but it had a think about it!
Good news:
I managed to update SuperSU— not through Play store but using the superuser.apk file from Chainfire's 1.89 update. It's funny because the version already installed was 1.89.*
I extracted the apk from the package, put it on my external SD card and launched the file using ES File Explorer.
What's also interesting is that I had to try this several times before it worked. Somewhere along the way I also wiped the phone's cache in (stock) recovery mode, although I can't, this morning, recall whether I did that immediately prior to the successful update, although it was definitely some time prior.
*I guess it's not unlike in Windows, when, say, a NIC stops working suddenly, usually a quick driver reinstallation does the trick.

How to install a custom rom on my galaxy s3 mini?

Hi all,
i would like to ask how to install a custom rom onto my samsung galaxy s3 mini. I know there are many guides but i am a complete starter, i just made a switch from apple and i have no idea what they mean, even the clearest one.. I just want to update these devices to lollipop since they are still on 4.1.2 jelly bean. Omnirom or cyanogen or others, i dont mind, i just want an updated device. Step by step instructions on everything would be perfect thank you!! By the way, i dont have windows, only mac.
this would help me a lot in the future.
thanks

Hi, at first I suggest to you to choose between two roms: The Omnirom and the CM. Your choice depend only about what you want from your phone. The Omni one is pretty nice and it looks like more a stock rom. The CM is very customisable in a lot of stuff. If you are not very expert, I suggest to you the CM, because it's more easy to install. But decide at first what you need from your phone!

I’ll choose Cyanogen then. Thanks for the reply.
What you need to flash is:
- the original firmware
- Odin
- USB drivers
- CM (Odin version)
- gApps (Google Apps)
You can find the original firmware on sammobile.com, and you can find other sottware on novafusion.pl in the section . When you have everything we can start!

Is it ok if i get odin for mac? Because i'm a mac user. I'm not sure if this is official
techbeasts . com/2015/04/13/download-odin-jdoin3-mac/
I added two spaces between on the left and write of the dot because I'm not allowed to post links, idk why. Just remove the other two spaces thanks.
Two more things, I can't find the USB drivers or original firmware on novafusion. And please be patient as it will take a while to download these things. My internet has a whopping 200 kilobytes per second, yeah it's slower than a snail...
It seems that Odin for Mac doesn't exist, the software that you can find is only similar but not the original Odin. Maybe they are good software as well but I don't want to risk to brick the phone for a not fully compatible software... Don't worry: we do everything also without Odin, is just a little bit longer but it works.
At first reboot your phone in recovery mode (menu button, volume up, power botton than wait) and do the wipe of cache and than reboot it and wait.
When the Phone is ready go here and download the SuperSu (to root the device) https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
and copy the zip file in your phone, than, reboot again the device in recovery mode and select "instal ZIP" (or something like that, I don't remember exactly honesty and choose the zip that you downloaded. Reboot the phone and now if everything worked you should find an app called "SuperSU" in your drawer. After you got the root access, we can go to the next step
Oh i actually already rooted it with KingRoot, is it bad?

KingoRoot is also fine.
Regarding "Odin on Mac":
jOdin uses "Heimdall" which works fine with S3 Mini - so unless they messed up the UI completely (giving wrong commands to Heimdall) the tool works fine, too.
KingRoot is should be fine at the same. You just need the root access to flash the device from the recovery. I sugget to you to install the TWRP recvery if you don't have it yet. You can download it and flash it from the recovery (you have root access now) or you can download an app on Google Play store like rom manager or TWRP manager and install the recovery from the app. Then we can go to the next step
KaffeeKiffer thanks but i'll stick with Stefano's method . Ok i got TWRP, but i still can't find the USB drivers or the original firmware (it's not on SamMobile). And for cyanogen mod 12.1, do i now get the normal version, like not the odin one?
Yes, you have to download not the Odin version but the other one "recovery version". At the same you have to download and flash the TWRP recovery first (always "recovery version" of the download). It should be the same also if you flash the CM with other recovery but I read online that flashing CM via recovery, by the TWRP recovery is better.
1) Download and flash TWRP recovery
2) Wipe cache and clean everything
3) Download and flash
Now the next step will be installing gApps

I'll jump in long enough to point out that Heimdall/Odin is not functional under current Mac environments. SInce Mobile Odin is effectively obsolete for current devices/ROMs, Mac users often rely on fastboot and similar tools instead for what can't be accomplished via a good custom recovery such as TWRP.

install odin on windows pc: http://depositfiles.com/files/m2n77b1vc
install samsung drivers on windows pc: http://developer.samsung.com/technical-doc/view.do?v=T000000117#none
get cyanogenmod 12.1: http://novafusion.pl/
get the odin version
when mobile powered off, hold volume down, home and power button. You get the downloadmode option on your screen, let go all buttons and press volume up button.
Now connect the phone to your pc with the usb cable and let odin find it.
Load the tar file in the downloaded zip file as pda and flash it.
If you want clockwork mod, install this as tar, also in pda flash option: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95887005526789241
If your samsung doesn't work but you can still get into download mode, view next page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2122548
and install a fail safe firmware according to your type of phone.

I don't have 12.1 running, but isn't TRWP 2.6.3 a bit low? I hope somebody with experience in that regard can help you.
But on Novafusion's site (which I assume you're flashing), the current version is 2.8.
Androidandy's version also worked great for me.

What i don't understand is why the flashing went wrong, I did everything right, at least I think. Wipe everything and flash the rom, why didn't it work?

Back to stock please

Hello all
I have an old Samsung Captivate, my kids were using it. Now they've new phones, so they left this aside.
Anyway, my son put cyanogen mod on this phone. But I want to put this back to stock. I tried the methods at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989, but that didnot help, as I cannot yet go into download mode, as well as Odin or Samsung Kies does not recognize this device. It goes into recovery mode and shows CVM-based Recovery v6.0.3.1. There is no download link on this. I've tried vol down+power, then vol up+vol down+power, then just both volume buttons, but nothing helps.
The device is reconized by my laptop, and it is there under android devices in device manager, just doesnt get recognized by either samsung kies or odin.):
My all other samsung devices are working fine with the drivers I have.
I'm on Windows 10.
So please help me get this phone back to stock.
thanks

Did you pull the battery before attempting the button combinations for getting into download mode?
If you did that, this thread may provide another way for you to get to download mode.
Is there a specific reason you are going back to stock Eclair, android 2.1, instead of using one of the newer one-click stock roms?
Others are available here. But then, that may be where you found the link to the rom you tried.
Which bootloader and modem were on the phone while it was in use? Which version of CM?
I've not used CM on any of my devices, I always use stock rom, even after I root.
Secondly, I am loaning this phone out to my friend, and she's not very digital savvy. I want to give her the phone with as little customization done as possible, because that's what she'll be most comfortable with.
I'll try the methods on the thread you posted above.

I must have misunderstood what you said in the original post.
I thought you stated that the phone in question had cyanogenmod rom on it at one time, installed by your son. I also thought you said it currently had CWM Recovery, v6.0.3.1, installed. This could be important because some versions of CM ROM would require an update in the bootloader from the Eclair bootloader. Those versions would require an upgrade to the Gingerbread bootloader. This includes a re-partitioning of the internal harddrive. Supposedly the GB bootloaders will work with the Eclair roms
So far AT&T GB bootloaders have been backward compatible with all I897 (even I9000) Froyo/Eclairs ROMs. I have used I9000 based ROMs with AT&T GB BLs. Someone in CM7 thread claimed to use AT&T GB bootloaders with CM7 without any problem.

but if you are on the GB bootloader, why not try the GB stock rom, android 2.3.5?
Since you can get to the home screen, is the current rom fully functional?
What rom, and version, is it that you can boot into?
If it is CM, there should be an app named Terminal Emulator installed. If it is present you can run these two commands to determine the bootloader and modem that are on your phone:
Code:
getprop ro.bootloader
getprop | grep version.baseband

for bootloader, it says unknown.
for version.baseband it says [gsm.version.baseband]: [T959TLJL3]
When the phone bootsup, it shows cyanogen mod, then when I boot into recovery, it shows CVM Recovery, v6.0.3.1(and it says CVM, not CWM). So now I am confused what do I have on the phone?

You may have just given a valuable clue.
That baseband is from the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant, a T-Mobile device, not the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate, an AT&T device.
Either someone flashed T-Mobile software on your Captivate. Or, you are trying to flash AT&T software on your Vibrant. I don't know if these devices and their software are cross compatible.
Could you remove the battery and check on the underlying label the model of the phone?

Thanks for chiming in. That sounds vaguely familiar, but I have had no experience with Kies in years. I use Linux and Kies will not work on Linux based computers. (I think I used Kies for my first upgrade on my Captivate, back when I was still dual booting Linux and WinXP. That was the upgrade from Eclair to Froyo.)
Yes, @tahrang those pics help answer some of the other questions I asked. They show that you have the a Jellybean ROM installed using a Gingerbread kernel (GB). I think it is the PACman ROM. Hopefully removing Kies, as Dennis suggests, allows you to get to download with one of the many methods suggested in the thread I linked to works, then you can flash a stock rom. I would suggest one of the Odin-One-Click methods that installs a stock Gingerbread ROM. I think they final three identifiers begin with K, ones like KH3, KK4, etc. Use a one-click that does not install bootloaders, it is not needed at this time.

Yes, you can flash roms from CWM recovery. The One-Click files will not work for this. You will need to use a recovery flashable zip. You can find stock and custom roms in the Development sub-forum. With the Captivate and CWM recovery you need to put the flashable zip on the root of the internal sdcard, IIRC. I don't think it will flash the rom from the external sdcard.
Since your laptop will access the phone, did you use either of the adb methods to boot into download mode? They are described in one of the other threads I linked.
Also, you could use adb to flash the portions of a rom, whichever type it is - recovery flashable or Odin one-click. But you would need the adb/flashboot tutorial threads to understand that process and the commands involved.
can you send the link to the flashable zip files?

The link in the previous post will lead to them. The early posts in that sub-forum are to the one-clicks. The custom roms on the first page are flashable zips. It may take going through several pages to find a stock rom that is a flashable zip with a valid download link. I am on a slow connection with limited data, I can't test the downloads for you.
