don't try it bro, it won't even boot-up
honestly, if you want custom ROM, just get the T instead of TX
T got more dev support here
i had the wrong decision myself buying a TX(i'm also a flashaholic and a CM fan)
maybe in time, TX wll have more custom ROM but not at the moment

Yup, no CM10 yet for TX, though FXP devs said on their website they will support it eventually.
Hold on to your S3 first bro, it is still better(or on par) than other phones available around. And this year is all about 1080p screen LOL. Wait a bit for those phones when it's already available in the store shelves. And don't forget also about the much anticipated S4 hehehe.

Thanks bro. You know that feeling I was so excited awhile ago. Lol. I see jelly bean isn't available yet for T / TX maybe that's why. Will need to wait first for cm10. I'm sure there will be many cfw available.
But need to sell this s3 before the price go down when s4 releases.
Btw, only differences of T and TX are removable battery and lte right?

I just made a good deal and straight swapped my S3 to TX. Damn, the stock fw is 100x better than the S3 IMO. Not much bloatware compared to that, and screen is amazing. Will just patiently wait for JB and CM10 for TX. First off, will need to root the device. How do I determine that my bootloader is unlocked? This is sim-free phone.

See the sticky in all in one thread in q&a section by greg, everything is there.
To quickly know if your phone is bootloader-unlockable, input this in your dial pad, *#*#7378423#*#* then choose service info, then configuration, there you will see at rooting status:bootloader unlock allowed:yes(then you may start unlocking the bootloader on Sony dev site, just follow the procedure there)

No need to root if you are going to unlock your bootloader.
That "rooting status:bootloader unlock allowed:yes" refers to unlocking the bootloader whilst "rooting" the device using the runme.bat method just gives you superuser access.
They are different things,
If you unlock your ootloader, then just flash an insecure kernel, you automatically then get root access.

If you are not on 7.0.A.0.305 then you need to flash that first. Then follow Black97ones guide to update without losing root.

if you're not familiar yet with flashtool software with Xperia phones and if you don't mind unlocking your bootloader already(which may void your warranty), just go here to Sony dev site and follow procedure to unlock
after unlock, just fastboot an insecure kernel(w/ CWM), i used this -->> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1922925
then flash this SU binary in CWM -->> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35641834&postcount=91
otherwise, just follow greg's advise in Q&A
Thanks, great. Will just unlock the bootloader. Btw, if jelly bean arrives do we need to unroot to recieve OTA updates?

If you look in v android development there is an unsecure kernel, but this is for older firmware, maybe it works
Edit: you must unlock bootloader for custom kernel, i do not think bin4ry method works for newer firmwares

There may be a way to root without unlocked bootloader
Try this well-known way of rooting Xperia AX in Japan.
I guess it's also possible for V to root.
1. Here is a Xperia VL's old rom and you can flash this kernel.sin and system.sin with V's loader.sin.
I can't post the link, but you can find it in uploaded.net. The ID is 3gvvv3w6.
2. Then, Root.
3. Create /data/local.prop (ro.kernel.qemu=1).
4. Flash V's system.sin without wiping.
5. Replace ric, install Busybox and Superuser.
6. Flash V's kernel.sin without wiping.
7. Do Factory data reset to easily delete unnecessary apps.

Is there any work around for rooting this device?

Guys in Development section already got kernel sources - so it might come faster than we think - but surely not as soon as it is unboxed. You'll probaly have to wait at least few days.

Rooting is easy if any devs got a device already they could make one in less than 10minutes. Even they could make one now given the stock ROMs available now in dev section. What we really need to have now is how to relock the bootloader.

So since this phone is due for release is it a known fact that the bootloader is unlocked & also what would be achieved or the benefits of relocking the bootloader. Can't imagine why to relock coz despite best efforts by top developers over a year, my current phone's bootloader is totally hack proof (not impossible but improbable)

It's features.
With relock bootloader you could do OTA, Bravia Engine, download music info and stuffs. Plus maybe get your warranty back.
I can't imagine seeing lots of people buy the Xperia Z then unlock it then weeks after sony announces 1st batch of the devices have some major bug and you can't return it back because you void your warranty because you unlocked your bootloader.

There was a "trick" where people fried their radios ( wifi, BT etc ) with a microwave to claim warranty - since those are on mb itself, service usually replaces the whole board. In theory there is no way to tell that your radios were damaged on purpose by a microwave - this way some tried to claim warranty saying their radios "just stopped working". Some claim it worked, others it didn't - i myself believe it to be utter gar.... if you put your phone into microwave, you're gonna have a bad time

Hmm I think that ain't gonna work since if you ever fried a radio sony can still check if whether the bootloader is locked or unlocked. Better fry the whole device instead

Uhm yeah correct with that one but I was talking about rooting on unlocked bootloaders
rooting it while it's locked is an exploit or security flaw so yeah it's hard to do.
Regarding relocking bootloader no idea how to do since my last sony device was unlocked using testpoint and there's no way of relocking it yet at that time.
What I'm interested in at this point is anything with the drm keys. I want that to stay even when the device is unlocked. Do you know by chance where is it stored anyways? Is it on one of the partitions inside the phone or is there a seperate chipset where it is isolately stored? Or is it something like a firmware embedded to a chipset?
I have read these forums til I've got a head ache! Can someone recommend a couple ROM that are flashable with a Locked Bootloader, and still keep LTE? I did the unbranded generic and I liked it except it didn't give me the choice to exclude the baseband in FlashTool so I lost LTE, So now I'm back to OEM AT&T. I'm not really a newbie at this, I've done a couple HTC's and a Motorola, but this locked bootloader [email protected]#T has me frustrated.
Any advice or links would be appreciated!

There's always an option to exclude the base band in flashtool....
I have latest Xperia TL with latest unbranded .140 Xperia T firmware with some custom locked roms
The only button not greyed out on Flashtool is the flash button and when I choose the firmware file all the sections/panes to the right are greyed out, why I'm stumped.

1 Install Flashtool.
2 Find a .140 FTF file for the Xperia T ( I suggest the EU version or UK ) and make sure its jelly bean http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918397
3 Flash it and it will say Exclude Baseband. This is a must and is always there even if you think its not
4 Flash and Play
When I downloaded the newest flashtool for my work computer, I didn't see any option to exclude baseband either. I had to install a slightly older version of flashtool to get where you can pick and choose what parts of the ftf you want to flash. Hope this helps!

Suggesting any particular ROM is against XDA Rules. It is disrespectful for the developers. It's better you head over to the development section and try few by yourself.

Hey guys,
I'm extremely sorry for opening this thread.! Please forgive me. I posted my question in another thread but didn't get a reply. I am from India and I want to buy Xperia T (which hasn't officially launched in India) from eBay. I was worried about the official jelly bean update for the phone. As tge phone hasn't launched in India the eBay people are providing imported phones. I found a tutorial to manually update the phone here: http://android.sc/update-the-sony-x...o-official-android-4-1-2-jelly-bean-firmware/
This is a flash tool method to flash the official 4.1.2 update only for Xperia T LT30p. I just want to know whether this method is COMPLETELY RISK FREE and there is NOT EVEN A SLIGHTEST CHANCE TO BROCK THE DEVICE BOUGHT FROM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD???? I want to know this as the Sony service centre in India won't even look at the phone if there is any problem! Please asure me of this flash tool method by taking a look at it and also,
can you please refer to this thread:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136173 and tell me what can cause this type of problems? The person who started this thread who has posted 'something' about Xperia T and he is from India! And he bought his phone from Germany! I tried searching the net for 'Xperia T India' but I couldn't find a thing. So I just want to be sure about the flash tool method mentioned in the above link. Has anyone done that before?

Then how do you suggest I update the phone safely and securely to the official jelly bean update? Or could you please give me a link to a thread where the question has been answered or to a safe tutorial to update the phone? I tried searching but I wasn't able to find anything that answers my question! And does this depend upon the region from where the phone is? Will I be able to update the phone using this method? Can anyone please help me with a detailed answer?! PLEASE!!
There is no 100% foolproof method, even the sony official method can ruin your phone if YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS.
However, IF YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS it will work.
Just try it.

Thank you very much... I was just looking for some confirmation. But now I got to know that this flash tool method is as safe pc companion method(correct me if I am wrong) I am pretty good at following instructions and also I have a rooted, bootloader unlocked, swaped xperia x8 running CM10. I am just so worried because I'm 17 and hence I don' t earn a single penny myself and this xperia T should last me atleast for the next 3 years. Would you please give me confirmation once again just for my satisfaction and also some general advice you think is necessary before following the above method? Like region verification, build no., kernel & firmware version, etc
...Pleaseee?!!:fingers-crossed:
I've pressed the thanks button

Yes, rest assured, it's totally risk-free, using flashtool and flashing STOCK roms and kernels is risk-free, provided that you carefully follow the instructions...
for the firmwares and kernels, regions and the rest, don't worry about these things, as you know, you can flash ANY GLOBAL firmware, whether it is for France or M.E. or Malaysia, so don't worry, just search and see what build number is the last firmware for your T, then flash it, and thanks to DoomLord, you can root it even you have locked bootloader, using his rootkit, so don't unlock the bootloader for now
wish you best of bests, bro

Well thank you... that was really comforting..! Now I will definitely upgrade to jellybean on the first day itself after buying the phone.. Thanks for your reply! I'll buy the phone in 4-5 days and I'll enjoy real lag free 'Sony' jellybean. For too long I've been flaahing ROMs on my xperia x8, so I'm tired of it now. May be I won't get into rooting, etc for another 6 months! Thats what I'm saying now!
By the way if anyone comes across a better method please let me know! Ofcourse I'll be searching too..

Yup.. I did give it a thought! But its out of my budget... or otherwise I would have bought a nexus 4 16GB! Though xperia T is nowhere near the nexus 4 in terms of looks and hardware but it looks much better than SP. Also the SP has just 5.8GB of usable internal storage.... I felt really sad that I can't buy nexus 4 as it costs 100USD more than Xperia T and SP costs 70USD more... But then I thought I'm just 17! Not everyone of my age is lucky enough to own such a phone.. Many of my aquiantances can't even operate a Galaxy Ace!

Hey guys,
I'm extremely sorry for opening this thread.!

I have a one simple Question, Does any one know how to unlock the bootloder in sony xperia z (unofficially) officially not possible.
thank you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2153261
However, note that the method in that thread will not allow you to unlock if the status of your bootloader is "Unlock allowed : No"
Check this by entering *#*#7378423#*#* in the dialler then look in Service Info -> Configuration

You said the official method was not possible, not that your bootloader is permanently locked. There is a difference, as there is an unofficial method of using your unlock token
The security on the bootloader is very very strict and is unlikely to be broken any time soon, if ever. There have been discussions on it by some very knowledgeable people on these forums and they all seem to conclude that there's no way around it.

If it was possible then there would be a thread about it and a link to it would probably be found in one of the stickys as there isn't and you can't then just like the rest of us you will have to wait.

Wow, I've been a member here for over three years, I've had an X10 an Arc a Ray and now an Z and I've never heard of Omnius before. Please tell me how that or any other such service is going to unlock unlockable devices.

Without an unlocked bootloader you can't use custom kernels which in turn means you can't use such ROMs I'm afraid.
