Best Rom

I want kingshero rom..but i hear running Hero Rom on G1 is kind of slow and laggy....What is the best Rom out and how can I get a hold of it and how can I install it???

Define "Best rom" please. The fastest one? The best one for gaming? The best one for social integration? The one with most features? The prettiest one? The best one for me? The best one for you? You see where I'm going with this?
You have so many tools at your hands: Nandroid backup, BART back-up, switch-rom, why don't you try all of the roms and pick YOUR best rom. Remember, search button is your friend.

This is such a solid explanation of "what's the best rom" thread, it should be stickied.

people should stop making these threads..I mean when you think about it, what in the world is the point of a search engine?!
@OP I'm sure you will find a few good 1000 threads on "Best ROM" but if you are feeling adventurous then do some Studying yourself. that way You will know what the best ROMs are.
just a suggestion though

Why do "Best Rom" threads bother everyone so much? You could just ignore them, you know. I'm sure there are folks who would love to give an opinion. If there's not, then the thread would quickly die.
I read them just to see how fast someone replies
A. Try them all and see for yourself.
B. Use the search button.
C. There is no Best Rom.
or D. Please close this thread.
In any case, everyone has different reasons for reading a thread. Just ignore the ones you're not interested in and everyone can be happy.

Because 10 "Best Rom" threads every week make it harder for people who actually search for answers.
Because there will be as many opinions as there are roms.
Because if someone does not reply this way, OP will just proceed to ask all of the "usual" questions (that have been answered multiple times) without a thought to search first.

if you cant do your own research flash that rom and dont use anything else

they are all good for something
you will find your fav rom when you try them all like we all have - and guess what

Those reasons are only valid if the pool of ROMS is static. Since new ones are released frequently, any previous opinions are probably outdated.
Yes there are many opinions. But, that's exactly what this question is looking for. I see these opinions as mini reviews. It gives a chance to explain what you like about a ROM. Maybe I'll see a comment that points out something I had not thought of as important.

I like Sonic 2 or Super Mario 3, there are some of ther good ones out their, but I always find myself going back to one of those two when I am bored.

If you guys actually read my post in its entirety you guys would realize that I did not just ask what is the best rom....I stated what i wanted and I also sated that i heard its slow and laggy....All I wanted was feedback about the HERO ROM....I said i wanted a HERO ROM....what is the best HERO ROM.....and i also asked how to get a hold of it...Also if you look at the amount of posts that I have put up, you can see I am new to this...But if I did not make myself clear....I WANT A HERO ROM.....but i hear runnign a HERO ROM on g1 is slow and laggy....WHAT IS THE BEST ROM(HERO).......SORRY IF I DIDNT MAKE MYSELF CLEAR....people in my other post helped me out greatly

New ROMs come out often, yes. However, that doesn't make all previous opinions "out-dated." The only ROM I've noted a significant difference in is Cyanogenmod. Used to always be kinda laggy (never too buggy) and with newest update it really flies. Other than that - most ROM "updates" are mainly just fixing minor bugs/adding some other random feature. Except for eclair ROMs, those are the only ROMs that are getting closer and closer to being "complete." Just because a ROM is the newest ROM released does not in any way mean it is now the best ROM out there.
As for best Hero ROM - none. They're too slow, and not really THAT great. That's just my opinion, though.
One more thing: ROMs are all based on YOUR opinion. These threads irritate me beyond measure. Its like when I ask my fiancee what she wants for dinner and she responds, "I don't care, anything sounds good." I say, "Ok, how about a steak?" to which she responds "I'm not in the mood for steak." I CAN'T TELL YOU WHAT YOU LIKE! YOU CAN'T TELL ANYONE ELSE WHAT THEY LIKE! PEOPLE HAVE TO BE ABLE TO THINK FOR THEMSELVES! The only possible thing this thread is able of achieving is a suggestion - which EVERY other thread like this has.

Did you seriously just say "due to their lack of knowledge and common sense"? You do understand that you post was equivalent to a newborn throwing up, right? I'm sorry, but if you're going to attack someone for their lack of knowledge, then you're going to have at least show your own. What he said has a very good point. There are too many threads like that that NEVER offer an answer. Only suggestions, and guess what? THE SUGGESTIONS ARE ALWAYS THE SAME. Pointed that out earlier in my post but I see it needs to be reiterated for you.
Oh, forgot to point out: It's "their" not "there". There is a place. Their is a group of people. You need a comma before "and" because everything after it is a full functioning sentence. Need/could use a comma before simply. You need to show a pause, other way that just sounds like a run-on sentence. "...common sense bug me" should be the end of the sentence. If you do not want to end the sentence there, you need to drop "and" and add a semi-colon before "congratulations." "Your" should be "you're." Actually... you are is more formal, but this is not a formal essay so it is acceptable your way. "Forums" needs to be "forum's" to show possession. You need punctuation at the end of your last sentence as well. Last thing: you do know you are only supposed to capitalize the first letter of a sentence, right?

Your original post does not state, in any form, that you want a Hero ROM. We are trying to help. What you don't understand is how we are helping. If none of us use search, I'm almost positive anyone here who can help will leave because of the massive amount of threads/posts that will be utterly pointless. I promise, searching is not hard and usually returns fantastic results. I understand you are new. If you want a good starting ROM - go with Cyanogen. Easy to flash, easy to update, great community support, a full fledged wiki with step by step directions, and the best feature: doesn't need Danger SPL as most hero ROMs do. Danger SPL has caused the most dead phones than any other issue. That's my suggestion.

To answer your question: ROMs are highly subjective. What works/is good for one person will be something another person thinks sucks.
Try them all, pick the one you like.

Srsly. Not too mention this is in the wrong forum YET again.

I hate the internet so hard right now

I'd definitely look at fresh rom 2.1.1 and fresh toast 2.1b1 and damageless rom (when the new one from latest leak comes out). You can find fresh's roms at hxxp://geekfor.me/ ... the toast roms with custom kernel don't suffer from the audio loss issues but are currently only available to donors. So, you can either wait for it to go public or send flipz a couple bucks via paypal and show your support.

Don't hate the internet... That's like hating concrete because people suck at driving...
These are forums... People interact on forums. You have cool people, smart people, funny people, and downright stupid people.

Not many people realize there is life outside of xda (no pun intended) but I am a big fan of gbhil so I always check out Beezy's roms over on android central it uses gbhils custom memory management so no more task killers or autokiller app. It is very fast and stable imo. Beezy Kool Aid

I do believe I did, so I hope you're not aiming that at me.
However no matter who you're aiming that at, you need to understand (and will if you've been here long enough or stick around XDA long enough) that it is immensely frustrating to answer the same questions, over and over, because people are too moronic to read, search, and do a little of their own research. It's not that people have a 'god' complex, it's that people are sick and damned tired of having to answer the same noob questions over and over and over and over again.

I wouldn't. Learn to search. And frankly this WAS posted in the wrong forum to begin with.
Edit: What they REALLY need to do around here is set it up so that new users can't post for 1 full day after registering. That would cut down on the noob posts because if they really want an answer to their question they'll search for it. If they don't find it in that period of time they can post when their 24 hour idle period is up.

no my comment wasnt directed at u..my point is while yes people ask the same questions over and over again,,etc and in the wrong section..lol i just get tired of people jumping all over people.lol Being nice goes along way..

BEST ROM

I'm currently using Fresh's 2.1. No issues so far. This is based on the newest leaked rom from Sprint.
Previously, I was using Damages 2.08.1. No issues there either.

Dude don't sweat it. There are a few pricks around here that forgot they to were once newbs. Don't worry about it. I use damages ROMs and they seem to work the best. They all work differently and its based on personal preference so just try a few and see what works best for you. None of them are perfect by no means.

I'm using PureHero 1.1.... no Sense, but I love it. Stable and I think is fast. So far I've tried DamageControl 2.08, Godzsons' ROM and Aloysius 2.0.8.

Hi! I looked at many threads here but I dont really understand anythin about ROMS etc. , I wanted to ask everybody, which is the faster ROM for xperia X1?
I tried Android with Haret and realy liked it but there's no ROM for it at this time, can you help me ??

I don't know if anyone broke his Xperia while flashing custom ROMs with the correct procedure, but I'll say it's 1 in 1000 cases. Read the stickies and again the ROMs Threads and choose the one you want.
If you want a bugless and fast ROM keep the original 6.1 rom and you won't have any problem.

For the future pls stop opening threads twice, you already mentioned mess-ups and disorder and right away added to them.
Also q&a is not well liked, as the different answers you are certain to get will not necessarily help you at all. Nobody describes their usage behaviour while rating a rom same as you didn't offer yours when asking for ratings. So what is good for others might not be good for you.
There are many threads like "what is the best rom...", check those, there is one with "incomplete comparison between...", check that as well if you like. After that it's up to you. Try and error is definitely an essential part of the process.

from a terminal:
1)connect your phone (usb debugging on)
2)adb remount
3)adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk /''directory where you want it''

or you could just copy it using root explorer within your phone and past itin ur sdcard.

yes.provided you upload the framework-res and systemui apk from the rom you are using.

Why don't ypu post this to all theme section, for ex. Htc desire hd theme section, experia arc theme section, etc. So that you hundress thread started as your name.
And you can open a courses for how to make a themes. That will give u a good money as the lecture. LOL

Dude I am not interested in starting an immature rant with you. But since you started it , let me tell you something.
The reason i started this thread was to inform people what they could do or not and uncover wise people like you ; unlike you, opening 2 threads with a powerwidget one and a battery mod, both of which you did in the UOT and calling it your mod and for roms you didnt even use (how pathetic is that). Probably if i didnt comment on your thread at that time, by now, you would have had tens of threads with all different combinations of mods from the UOT ( of course for every rom you would find here) and that is probably why you are taking this rant here. lolz.
So please spare me of your useless comments cause you do know what you have done!

I want to give you a heads up ! I think that there are many people that do not know the existence of uot and how easy it is to change a lot of things, like batteryicon, statusbar etc . So i think it was a good idea to point people to uot .. People tend to look no further then the section of their own device.

Gosh... there are plenty ns users still have problem of installing SDK so that they can root their ns, not to mention they still have to spent hours or maybe days to root their device. And also spent more couple days to able use adb commands. I just tryin to make it simple. But I never call them a noob.

Can u make screen animation on symbian? can u Hacked a symbian?
And u already make yourselve the greatest on top of everybody else just because your "Green elegance Theme for oxygen", and under estimate me as a noob and cheater. There are skies above the Sky.
Not even Netarchy or odgobers or morfic or supercurio and others ROM developers will act like you.
But i never under estimate people, and never show off what i've. And also never spamming on anybody threads and post negative comments ( if i dont like with what their have posted)

Clearly you must have meditated a lot before writing this post. Anyway, just point out where did i ever call you noob and i will apologize immediately.
i never called you noob and never doubted you; my only response was why did u open 2 threads for UOT mods and claim something which wasnt yours. that was the only thing i said!
You might be a know-it-all in symbian,apple or whatsoever but things here should be this way imho: when you take something somebody else has worked and developed, you cannot simply call it my mod and even if you do so, you should always give credit to the author!! (which you didnt and that was the whole point).
Clearly my post has affected you deeply and you have been doing your homework very well going through my previous posts and threads and insulting on a personal basis. Unlike you, i wont go that far.Strict on topic, i have said what i thought. Some will disagree with me some wont. Final words.

Can we please just squash the fighting. We have had a pretty good forum, let's keep it that way. This really does not do any good for any of us or our section of the forums. That's just my opinion, but please give it some thought. Thanks.

[Q] Galaxy Ace Roms?

Hey all!
This question as probably been asked a dozen times but I can't find it if it has. So here goes, Is there a list somewhere of UP TO DATE SGA roms? By up to date I mean current as of 09-17-12. I found one on here and props to the user that compilled it but it was last updated March 2012. These roms develop so quick I'd love to be able to keep track of them all I just don't have the time to search through all the threads and forums. Better yet, is there a way to sort the threads based on the thread type? That way it could be grouped by kernel, rom, etc..Any help/ideas are greatly appreciated.

its not the updation matters for a rom.. its all about stability and what and all you expect..
some expect performance and battery life..
some expect cool looks..
its not that updated rom works perfectly always.. sometimes even updates spoil the rom...
so read the whole thread of the rom. replies from peoples.. and then decide on it..
if u tell ur expectations may be we can suggest u the rom

Samsung Galaxy Ace ROM`sthread but got a little bit flamed because all Cooper roms and kernels are already in one of two places: the development section and the original development section. The thread titles in these sections often tell you about the rom like kernel, base, version etc. What you don't get from the title you can definitely get from the op. You don't have to search just scroll, but I would suggest to you that if you are too busy / lazy to search then xda might not be the best forum for you.
I have tried pretty much every rom and if you tell me what you are looking for in a rom I would be happy to give you my opinion on the most suitable for you needs.

The Myth 2 would be perfect for u as it gives good performance battery life n stability! even the looks are cool! moreover u can send msgs of 4 or above pages as in stock or other roms it is converted into mms! hit thnx if helpd

I guess I wasn't making myself clear, it's not that I mind searching/scrolling it's just that with all the threads in here it would be easier to be able to sort them based on type. For instance, if it's a rom it's usually stated as such in the thread title. great that's easy! But, what about being able to sort the thread list so all the "ROM" threads are sorted into one spot? Kinda like a library you know? U go to 900s for Science 800s for sports etc. Same Idea here. I don't see a sort by title/Subject option. only date, which is great but you also get kernels and other stuff mixed in.. Just some thoughts to make things easier for everyone that's all. As far as being called "Lazy" I resent that! If you can't take the time and consideration to answer a simple question without the insults then maybe this forum isn't the place for YOU. Just remeber, you were new at this stuff too at one time and probably had a lot of questions too.

Calm down, mate. I didn't say you were lazy. I said if. And maybe you are too busy! It was not meant to insult you. Yes, I was new at this and I'm certainly no expert but I haven't ever felt the need to start a new thread in 15 months of reading xda (I read for a long time before I signed up) because all the questions I ever wanted to ask have already been asked. If you don't believe me check my profile. I have tried to help you as I do everyone on xda.
If you want all the rom threads organised in a certain way, help yourself. If you think it would be helpful to the xda community post it on here but, as I tried to explain, other people have tried. It is a lot of work to maintain because things change all the time and people expect a thread like that to be up to date. Good luck.
