[Q] real webtop replacement for ICS - Motorola Droid 4

Hi,
I am still running 2.3.6 because of I am enjoying webtop 2.0, however, I though upgrade to ICS is a must very soon, and I am looking for a "real" webtop.
webtop2sd cannot run on Droid 4, ubuntu using VNC... is there any options for Droid 4? I want a native ubuntu or other linux like webtop on my Droid 4.
I have google already but found it seem impossible? If anyone have any hints, please let me know.
Million thanks!
Kent

I run Ubuntu on mine from an IMG. It works just ducky for me. Does everything I want and then some.

What's wrong with the tablet mode in ICS - seems to work fine for me. Some apps even display differently when in that mode.
Cheers,
Steve.

Android 3.0 for Milestone?

Hi all develoers here. Salute to you all for whatever you did for our milestone.
Just a noob question. Is by any chance, by stripping down, or by any magic, is there a possibility to port Android 3.0 for Milestone? Is it possible?
http://developer.android.com already released information and sdk about 3.0. Any expert comments about hardware requirement or any hardware comparisaon details available yet?
I have seen many chinese android tablets and devices with same or lower configuration than milestone running with higher versions like 2.3.3 and some even claiming to have 3.0. (There are already many 3.0 tablets on ebay with lower configuration than Milestone. http://cgi.ebay.in/BRAND-NEW-8GB-7-...31243148?pt=IN_PC_Laptops&hash=item4cf532848c )
Any possible luck? Any experts there?
The old HTC G1 even can run 3.0 (just for fun, nothing more) so i think MS can run 3.0 (but...just for fun, nothing more...^_^).
As sayd, maybe MM can run 3.0 with some hack/tweak/mods, but nothing farther...
Google says that 3.0 is for tablets intended, 2.3/2.4 and so on for mobile
MM can't run Honeycomb, cause we have locked bootloader.
I can't imagine Honeycomb with Froyo kernel

Then why not for fun? When other low-configured devices can run 3.0 seriously, then why not on Milestone, which actually have good confi?

Do you still believe that developers should stick to what google or anyone else said? Most of the new tablets runnung 3.0 have similar configurations and even resolution of milestone.

Do not agree. Milestone is already rooted and thousands of experimets with GB is already done. Seems you dont visit milestone rom developement section. Its always better to get some information before commenting with dead ends.
Anyways thanks all for your inputs.
Are they still trying to Bruteforce open the bootloader? Or did they give up?
It's still open at www.androinc.net, but most of us don't trust the project since the source was never released and it just seems shady.
almost a month over, but no useful information from motorola nor any developers. Seems motorola bootloader will never be cracked in future.

You are wrong. All the latest rom available for MM is over froyo kernel and no GB as you stated. Yes we now run GB on our MM but the Kernel still Froyo. I think YOU should start read the DEV section a bit more instead of saying this things.
Peace

Google has clearly stated that Android 3.0 is only meant for tablet use.

[Q] Let's Golf 3

Does anyone know why the game "Let's Golf 3" won't work on the Bionic? It works on the Droid X and the Xoom, but not Bionic. Any ideas on why or how we can get it to work?

ive tried a few different roms and versions but I cant seem to get it to work. ive taken all the downloaded files off of my xoom which its running on and added them to my bionic (changed owner to root as well) and tried to run it but it seem that the program has a list of devices its compatible with. unless you can get the apk for it to put in eclipse and remove the part that check compatibility then your best bet would be to send a message to the dev and ask him to update the app. i know the bionic would have no problem running it, the app just wont allow it. sorry i couldnt be more help but what i did is about the extend of knowledge base on this.

[q] webtop, webtop2sd, full linux distro's for the bionic

Has anyone got webtop2sd to work with the 901 update?
Has anyone been able to get a full working linux distribution to run on the bionic?
There doesnt seem to be much information at all about webtop and the bionic. There is a ton out there in atrix land.
Thanks for you time. Its appreciated.
I haven't seen where anybody has gotten webtop2sd working on the 901 system. I think the updated webtop does run better. I haven't been getting low memory errors at least.

I now have webtop2sd, webuntu, linux swap all working. Running Eclipse 2.1 rc1 .901
Don't know why it works on Eclipse and couldn't get it working on anything else.

I wasnt able to get webtop2sd to work on 5.5.893 or 5.9.901...i went back to 5.7 since the versions aren't too diff and webtop2sd works (and getting back is a cinch now)
I thought eclipse *system base* was based on 5.7 ( i know 2.0 is) ..the radios and webtop image don't matter...
You can use the 901 webtop, along with webtop2sd, with other system versions (eg kin3tx uses 5.8 and webtop2sd works) by first flashing to 5.9,then using a custom rom

System shows 5.9.901 in about phone running Eclipse 2.1 rc1, that being said I don't know if that means it's really on .901 system i'm not that knowledgable on the inner workings on all of this. Most of my experience is simple trial and error (and learning from others errors) until I get things running the way I like it
Edit: it is based on ota 5.9.901, with some 5.7 according to nitro. And he would know.

ICS LapDock behavior

**edit** Actually I'm reading no hdmi drivers within ICS? Can't seem to find a chipset model... Anyone?
I've run the ICS roms before in the past and reverted back to a GB based rom for my webuntu hacks. However what I'm unsure about is what happens when you dock an ICS based rom? I plan on running my own chrooted ubuntu image with a full screen vnc session to lxde. I just dont know, how or what behavior to expect when docking the phone. Any guesses or insight?
Thanks

There is no official ics rom, therefore no hdmi, no webtop on those ics roms
If i wanted something official I'd have gone to verizon.com...... if there aren't any drivers, is it possible to use the lapdock as a mirror without launching webtop? I could then vnc into my ubuntu image and get rid of webtop completely.
As of ICS, webtop is no longer ubuntu; instead it launches a tablet version of android.
AND IT ROCKS!

Anyone find any ROMs that work with rooted Bionic on official ICS OTA update?

I was just wondering if anyone has found if any ROMs work with the OTA ICS update for the Bionic. I was running Eclipse 3.0 when my phone was on Gingerbread and I LOVED it, so I'm hoping that works out. But regardless of what ROM, I was wondering if anyone had found any ROM's at all that worked for an OTA ICS updated Bionic, perhaps something that was built for the Razr or something like that. So, any thoughts?
I use IcarusHD and AOKP no problems. Any ROM you used on leaks should still work, provided you're using the same recovery.

Any of the roms on this forum or others will work as long as you root your phone. Motofail or razor's edge will let you root.
