help , new to sgm - Samsung Galaxy Mini

hey guys today i had a bricked sgm and solved the brick problem and installed GB 2.3.6 and tried to flash CM 7 rom
but after the flashing i had a problem the homescreen wont show so i flashed GB 2.3.6 and now i'm stuck at a bootloop tried to flash the rom again and nothing
plz tell me how to fix this and i help me install a CM 10.1 rom

Probably you might not have wiped data before flashing. Wipe Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache before and after flashing.
Also make sure you've have downloaded the correct ROM meant for SGM.
To install CM10 follow this post.

now just flash a four package firmware through odin
it will refresh your data partition
then head to flashing cm7
as the person above me stated you should wipe data before and after flashing rom

Actually you need to wipe data/factory reset from clockworkmod.
It will delete all data on your phone contacts, videos, music so back up the files first

it will not wipe sdcard
so no loss of music and videos etc. Only apps would be lost

Stuck at "touch the android to begin"

This concerns my galaxy note n7000. I had a rooted checkrom v4 working on my note. I tried to install criskelorom v2 and got bootloops. I then tried to go back to stock via odin and flashed stock N7000 KL3 ROM which i had earlier used, I had to go to stock because after bootloop even recovery was not working. now after flashing stock i am getting a strange problem of the phone getting stuck at the welcome to gt-n7000 screen . "touch the android to begin" . nothing is happening after touching the android on the screen although i can change the language etc and even the pull down notification is also working but the phone is stuck at the initial stage. I have a nandroid backup of my initial checkrom in my internal sd card but cannot restore it before installing a rom with root and cwm. Kindly help . Thanks.
I'm having the exact problem. I'm hoping we can create a soft brick sticky thread. I walked away from my phone last night because I was getting frustrated.
My attempts to flash stock ROM via Odin resulted in the "not responding" message in windows. I can get to both CWM and download mode, however any ROM flashed via CWM results in the behavior described by the OP. fortunately I have access to another Samsung phone, so I can double check driver installation (although it worked for flashing previously).
I'm continuing a search through the forums to find some alternate methods for unbricking. Hope someone has an idea.
Thanks!
It seems that the stock roms i was trying to flash were nonwipe ones so i flashed xxla3 which is a wipe rom and was able to boot . I then flashed the earlier kl3 rom over this rom because kl3 is rootable. I then rooted and installed cwm booted into recovery and restored my earlier nandroid backup. I think the situation arises because the nonwipe rom was unable to clear the cache , user data etc
Thank you for the information. I had exactly the same problem. What did you use to root KL3 ?
Just wipe both cash and user data, and reboot.
reboot to recovery mode -> mount and storage -> format system, format cache, format data.
and do a factory reset and wipe cache.
problem should be solved cause that's what i did

[Q] HELP.. revert from ics back to gingerbread rom..??

Hi guys hope someone can help..
I have been on ics for few months & loving it..
Few days ago I updated my brother-in-law sgs i9000 from Darkys rom xxjw1 > updated to Dark knight rom ics 4.0.4 ...
"he wants to go back to any gingerbread rom stock or custom"..!!
Firstly I made no backup & worst of all I cannot find anything Google search (no guides tutorials info) etc
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP OR DIRECT ME..
It's it a straight simple flash of a GB ROM with full wipe.. Or is it bit more complex from what I have been told..!!
What, google is dead
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/xxjvu/
I thought (read from different forums) that it was a difficult procedure..
Okay can you check steps..
1 Nandroid backup current rom
2 backup apps data settings etc
FULL WIPE
3 factory reset
4 wipe cache
5 wipe dalvik cache
6 format system
7 format cache
8 format data
(I'm unsure about the others like boot, datadata, sd, emmc)
Odin flash stock xxjvu
root firmware flash kernel
Fix permissions
Reboot
Hopefully back on gingerbread
"please do correct me & appreciate any help"
Download stock then flash with odin
For me i back to ics
1.Full wipe, wipe cache, wipe dalvik for ICS first then go to download mode.
2.Open odin tool.
3.Then flash stock 2.3.3 XWJW5
4.Done.
1. Make backup, if need. Format and cache wipping not requaired, Odin delete old partitions and create neew, if ‘Re-Partition’ checkbox is checked
2. flash GB rom with Odin
3. root, if need
Thanks all that replied & helped..
@Janka63
Have you flashed GB ROM coming from an ICS ROM.. Did Odin flash work okay..??
I've done it with wipe cache and dalvik,
format sd, system, data and dbdata.
Than flashed with Odin a Stock JW1.
I did several times since the 1st time I tried to port ICS in my phone, (the last time was before yesterday), when I was unable to enter recovery and the mobile when looping, I grabbed Odin, flashed it directly (no wipe, anything, but I bet my phone's life for it), rooted it back. Now I'm back for ICS.
wiping is unnecessary for odin roms.
Knowledge is Power. Guard it well.

Thanks.. But can you explain why wiping is unnecessary with Odin (as I believe a wipe will not be done using Odin)..
I have always been advised to do wipe when flashing/switching roms whether it's using Odin, cwm recovery, Heimdall etc etc

CM9 > CM7 Galaxy Ace, help on this I am newbie on this stuffs

Hello, I am new on forum and just discovered about setting new ROMs on my cellphone (its a Galaxy Ace S5830), then I instantly installed CM9 ICS, but now I wanted to install this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583871...
The question is:
Can I install an lower ROM version? What I need to do?
I use the CWM 5.0 and when I try to format everything (cache/data/system/sd-ext), it gives an error on "sd-ext", then anyway I reboot the system and start on CWM 5.0 again, and click on "install update from sdcard" and select the ROM in zip mode of course, then it gives and "Installation aborted"...
for safety I don't want to try other things without consult other people's experience and as I am with my computer on the maintenance I don't have much time for running around searchings about this...
Thank you if you can help...
Cya;
err, may be you should mount data and system before flashing the zip..
Go back to stock rom with odin then try to reflash again using cwm but only wiping, data + cache + dalvik cache
Sent from my GALAXY Ace.
I don't think you need to go back to stock for flashing cm7 over cm9,you are already on ext file system, just do a complete wipe(leave sd-ext if you don't have an ext partition on your sd card), also wipe cache and dalvik cache, then mount data and system and flash the cm7 rom.
That should do the job. Although don't act on my comment yet, wait for a senior member to approve of my statement here, i am a noob too.
P.S. Go for Apocalypse rom, both miracle and apocalypse are made by itasoulas but apocalypse is very new and very awesome rom.

I am going APOCALYPSE now, I saw that is working, I just need to follow the steps on the post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1700749), and it will work right? I dont need to put stock rom, the hard is that the links all are on mediafire and I cant download it in the university(the only place I have internet acess by now...)...
Well anyway thx for the help... Thanks to everyone

Upgrading cm 7.2 to cm9

Hi everyone,
Newbie posting here.. I've had my share of flashing Roms a few times (say 4 or 5 times) but i stuck with cm 7.2 when they released the stable mod for the i9000.
Now i see that the cm9 stable mod has been released and i definitely want to try that out however, I'm not sure on how to go about it and I don't want to do anything stupid. Don't get me wrong, i've tried reading around through different sites and forums but all the mix and match methods of flashing and installing has gotten me confused..
My main question is, how do i flash to cm9 from cm 7.2? naturally i have cwm installed and can boot into cwm recovery. Am on the XXJVK baseband with the pawitp kernel. Not sure if i have to donwload new drivers (since the base ROM is going to change)...
Do i just place the zip file for the cm9 mod in the internal sd storage? could you guys help me out and let me know if this process is correct:
1) save zip file in internal storage (both cm9 and gapps)
2) do a nandroid backup
3) boot into recovery
4) wipe data and dalvik cache
5) install the package
6) wipe data and dalvik cache
7) install gapps
8) reboot
Once it boots up, i'm assuming it'll be running cm9 already.. could you guys help me out and let me know if this procedure's correct? sorry for the noob question but i'd rather just make sure and ask you guys first.
thanks in advance guys! cheers and more power!

wipe date
wipe cache
wipe delvik cache
then flash rom nd gapps
wipe cache nd delvik cache again.. good luck..
Best and most reliable way to do this is flashing through stock rom via Odin. Then flashing kernel with CWM Recovery via Odin. And only then flash CM9 via CWM.
thanks for the quick reply guys. will try it out tonight and update this post. hope all goes well.
cheers!

and if u want u can try chimera rom from team passion.. it s combination of cm9 and AOKP.. It s stable and fast..
took me less than 10 minutes to flash to cm9 and it's as snappy as i thought it was. now to fix up everything and check if everything's okay.
so far, wifi and network signal are working fine and dandy. might just have a go at that chimera rom.

(Q) cleaning wiping phone - best effective method

hey guys,
which is the best method to clean your phone before flashing a new rom, or maybe bringing your phone to the state it was just after flashing a new rom. i tried data factory reset, wipe cache , wipe dalvik with kernels we have here and i found remainents of zip files i had flashed after setting up my rom and using newer mods. i dont want to format system, preload all the time.
which is your perfect, effective method ? speedmod kernel and its recovery or phillz , then which version ?
thanks

why you dont want format system and preload before flashing rom?
what I do before flashing any rom is:
flash philz kernel
wipe data / cache / dalvkk cache
format / cache / system / data / preload
and then flash new rom
and thats it, with this procedure I have never faced any issue with any rom I have flashed.
usualy I use this method even befoe restoring my nandroid backup.
above methods I using with philz and speedmod, but i prefer philz when wiping and flashing and making backup, because it has nice cwm for doing that. but after I flash new rom I immediatly flash speedmod because it is the better than philz if you drive your new rom, and you are not in cwm at the moment
hope this helped

completely agree with you djoni, but when you are flashing continuously, experimenting a lot ...you know ...this and that,
isnt a data factory reset , wipe cache, wipe dalvik supposed to bring you to that condition just after booting up after a new rom flash ? why were there remanents from a mod i had flashed after using the rom for some time ?
