Stock ROM boot problem - Samsung Galaxy Mini

Hello, I'm having some worrying problems with my device
Like many of you I've been eagerly following TheWhisp in his journey to bring us JB, I had managed to stop myself flashing the earlier experimental versions so as not to just tease myself with a non-daily ROM, but when he announced he'd fixed the incoming call problem I had to try it! I installed the update from the 17th of Jan, everything was going pretty good.
I flashed back to stock via Odin first, booted, thumbed around a bit for nostalgia as I'd been running ReginaROM since it came out. The Cyanogenmod started becoming more and more unstable the next day, things crashing, reboots etc. I thought ok, no problem, I'll go back to Regina and wait. I flashed back to stock again to get a fully fresh install going as that's just the way I like to do things.
My problem is that the stock ROM won't boot, the Samsung logo glows away as normal, but after a moment I get the short vibration followed by three blips of vibration indicating something has crashed, after which the startup animation and sound plays again and the process repeats, I can never reach the lock screen.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

it's a bootloop, have you tried to wipe data from CWM?

Yeah I've tried wiping cache, dalvik cache and factory reset.

did you try wipe data/cache and dalvic cache on squads cwm??

Where else would I do it? haha I don't mean to sound *****y
I can't figure it out, I've done everything I can think of, seems sort of bad that I can't get my stock firmware to work if I ever need to go back to it.

You have to wipe data after installation of the stock ROM. I had the same problem with the previous build. Just enter in CWM and wipe.

[Q] Cant Wipe Dalvik Cache

Im still very new to this. Im trying to install Fasty II, and im stuck at the AT&T logo, and im pretty sure its because i cant wipe the Dalvik cache. When i tried to wipe it, it just would do nothing.
First of all, I did confirm the wipe, i didnt hit no on accident
Anyway, whenever I try to wipe it, I get no error or anything, it just goes back, basically as if i am pressing No instead.
Everything that I did in the following order
1. Went back to stock with the Odin One-Click
2. Went to Download mode and installed the Captivate Gingerbread bootloaders (ran as admin)
3. Wiped the data and tried to wipe the Dalvik cache but nothing happened
And btw the same thing happens when trying to wipe battery stats
Am I doing something wrong, is it that there isnt a Dalvik cache (again Im a n00b), or something else entirely?
Probably included a lot of extra info just wanna be thorough.
Thanks in advance
Ginger bread boot loaders for a froyo rom? That's your problem, wrong boot loaders, man. Flash back to 2.1 stock and give a reread on the fasty instructions.
if you could try any of the button combos to get into download mode, you could flash back to stock there.
Or take out the battery, Sim and sd card, plug the phone the USB cord into the phone, hold the volume buttons down and plug the battery in, if it worked, you should be in download mode. Flash back to stock.
If those two didn't work, look into a jig.

No its Fasty II, which is gingerbread
Really, strange, haven't seen it.
Edit: okay, I saw, my mistake, I thought you meant the fasty 2.0+ versions.

Either way, the gingerbread boots are backward compatible. Doesn't matter if he was installing a froyo rom or gingerbread. They work either way.
OP: how did I install cwm? Could just be that version doesn't confirm when deleted although it is wiping it. Either way not wiping dalvik should not cause a boot loop, if it was all clustered you would be laggy and perhaps a few apps force close, but it should boot.
Try and re download the rom and reflash.

Well I tried re-downloading and still get the boot loop.
After installing gingerbread bootloaders, im pretty sure i just did the update.zip way of getting cwm. idk if cwm has been updated since i got it, which was quite a few months ago, but ya idk if that means anything
EDIT: I think it actually was CWM, i tried flashing again, got the bootloop, went into CWM, and it was a diff color so im assuming it was updated, and flashed it again and it worked.
Thanks for the help
EDIT 2: Spoke too soon, stuck at startup now. Has been on the Galaxy S Screen for the last 10 mins
The cwm after the first flash is the one makes into the kernel.
If it doesn't loop the animation and is just staying at the S it should be re building dalvik which takes awhile
All right it works now thank you

Weird problem when flashing new rom

Hi guys. I got a real weird problem or so.
I was on a kingdroid rom based on 4.0.4.
Everything ok, no problems, until I turn off the cellphone to take the SD card. From that moment my note just dont turn On.
The thing is I was able to go in to recovery (nice), so I flash a safe kernel. All ok.
And then after a full wipe I tried to flash a rom, and here is the weird stuff: After flash any rom, the cellphone go into restart, everything is new but surprise, am still in Kingdroid v7, even when I flash a 4.1.2 based rom.
I tried many many times, and always the same. I can´t flash a new rom.
My kernel is the Philz one.
Hope someone knows what is happening.
Did you wipe data dalvik cache? If you still have issues you can wipe /system before flashing new ROM (recommended)

I can full wipe, and format/data, but when I try Fromat/system, recovery get freeze. :/
You mean Format/system, right?
So weird. Every time, the same, am stuck in Kingdroid. :S
It concerns me that you can't wipe /system
Hopefully someone can chime in here
you can try flashing from diffrent CMW recovery version.. try flashing speedmod 3-15 and reboot recovery and try to fullwipe and install..
i had weird problem when using diffrent CMW like abyss. i had quite similar problem..
try Speedmod 3-15. it is safe and flash speed is faster

mmm.
When I try format/system, recovery freeze and the phone restarts. And the Rom is formatted, so I have to put all my info again (select lenguaje, config wifi, config google account, etc). And still in kingdroid.

I tried Speedmod kernel, full wipe, flash alliance rom and after restarts, Kingdroid again.
The only thing that change was the kernel. So i have Philz again.
I will try with another kernel.
Is like to have a briked note
You may want to try flashing stock gingerbread (pre rooted from dr.ketan) from PC Odin...

Yep. I will do that.
now I lost recovery.
The phone just get to "samsung galaxy note gt-n7000" and stay there.
I can go on donwload mode, so I will try to flash a stock rom.
Thanks guys. I will report tomorrow with news. Hope works.
Do that stock GB (pre rooted) though not ICS...in PC Odin... that way when you wipe you can do it safely in stock setup without having a custom kernel...
Then just flash whatever with Mobile Odin

I tried with four different roms.
So I tried with Odin, with no problems in the process, but when the phone restarts just get to "samsung galaxy note gt-n7000" and stay there.
Now even the batterie freeze
are you sure that the Odin flash was successful?
if yes, the now try to boot into recovery and do a factory reset, reboot again
Ok. good news. I tried a few times with the GB pree rooted of dr.ketan, with no positive results. So I tried with a diferent one, from sammobile. Is a stock from my country. This one works.(a little hope). Well, now the phone is crazy. super unstable. But, is something.

Yep. Odin flash was successul. With green colors and all. But at restarts the phone was freeze and no chance to get recovery mode.
As I say in previus post, now the phone turns on,but is unstable. Is a stock GB rom.
I get a lot of error messages like:
Android.proces.acore has stoped.
com.android.phone has stoped.
So the phone is unusable
ok great.. this is the time when you HAVE to somehow get into the recovery mode and do a factory reset.. coming from a ics rom will give these errors.. just needs a wipe

Ok. I flashed the Pre-rooted again, and now I am in recovery mode. OMG xD
Question. IS safe to do a full wipe in this kernel? or do I flash a safe kernel, like speedmod??
Am gonna search a new religion to believe or something after this.
Edit: Ok, after think about it I did it a full wipe. (I am on gb so no problems)
The phone is OK. fully working!!! omg guys. Thanks so much!
Am gona do a resume of my problem, maybe gonna be of help for someone.

[Q] Help? Custom Roms Won't Boot

So, I have a Galaxy Exhibit II 4g (Sold here in Canada on Bell's network as the Galaxy W sgh-t679m).
I've had no troubles rooting the device (Though I forget where I got the package to root it and it's not one of the ones on the wiki), or installing CWM, however: My main goal was to get some manner of JB rom set up on the device.
I've tried both Linaro CM 10 and Slimbean.
The problem I'm encountering (with either of them) occurs after flashing the new rom.
When "starting" with the new rom for the first time, it just repeats the loadscreen animation indefinitely. I tried leaving it overnight and it was still doing it. However, When I flash back to the stock rom it works just fine.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Do you know how to make this problem go away, and make either of the two roms load?
Did you do a wipe before flagging the ROM?
Sent from my SGH-T679 using Tapatalk
Did you do wipe system + cache + dalvik cache then install ROM then wipe dalvik cache + fix permissions?
If not try that. I doubt 2 desperate downloads are at fault here.

Aha!
Before, I formatted data and wiped cache. Didn't know to wipe Dalvik Cache or fix permissions.
Thanks afwolfpacked!
What are you using to flash with. Cwm 6.0.1.2 or twrp. You will need to ensure system is wiped. Clean installs I'm twrp for thoroughness I do:
System wipe
Cache wipe
Dalvik cache wipe
Factory reset
Internal storage wipe
Android secure wipe
Post install:
Dalvik cache wipe
fix permission
Reboot
Initial setup: for 5 - 10 minutes don't do anything to phone for complete setup installation from ROM flash before completing initial setup

I'm using CWM 6.0.2.5.
I did everything but the factory reset. It installed great, but I'm finding that it crashes constantly now that it's up and running (CWM, Linaro CM10, SpeedyGonzales Kernel).
I'm going to try swapping out the Kernel and see if that makes things go a bit better. Going to try Jocalas first. The Demon's Blood Kernel Link is dead.
I'll update the post after I see how Jocalas Kernel works out even though it's not rigged specially for JellyBean - hopefully it will be more stable.
Can someone link me some alternatives or give me some suggestions.

Factory reset is NOT optional, check the instructions again. Of course it will install with out wiping, it just wont work well hence the reason you are getting crashes.

I went back into CWM to switch the kernel, and I looked at the menu options. I thought wipe data and factory reset were separate options, and that I had done the wipe data and not the factory reset. Apparently I *DID* factory reset, as they are apparently the same thing.
So my bugs must be caused by something else. I'm hoping it's the kernel, not CM10.
Suggestions on the Kernel to use?

I was having a different problem with slimbean. I hadn't known the fix permissions or clear dalvik cache and it wasn't starting. I tried both it and Linaro CM10, and I definitely like Linaro CM10 better, at least until it started constantly crashing.

Hmm. No I hadn't realized that. The Linaro CM10 page made it seem like you needed another kernel.
Thanks guys. I'll give them a try tomorrow, and I'll let you guys know if either of those options works out.
If not, I may just have to go back to Slimbean, which didn't have as many shiny features (being slim), but seemed much more stable than the linaro cm10+speedy kernel.
By the way, you guys have been awesome. Done some other modding things before, but this is my first attempt at modding android; and you guys have been a huge help in figuring out how it works.

Yeah. now that I've installed DBv8, things are running much better. The phone's been running since I made that last post, and it hasn't crashed once.
What are the big differences between the linero kernel, DBv8, and Evil?
The linero kernel was optimized but still stock. Powered by Evil and Demons Blood v8 are near on par with each other and are overclockable. I believe sio was included in IO for DB v8 and not in evil and a few differences in governers. Not much differences in those 2.

P880 won't boot after 442 flashing

Hi guys,
Need your assistance in this. I downloaded the 4.4.2, the Gapps (stock version), and the CWM Touch 6044. Flashed successfully the 6044. Rebooted, and flashed omni 442 and then the gapps. Did a wipe data/factory reset. Then pressed reboot device. The phone will restart and stay stuck at the Omni Logo. No progress from there at all. Did a few other reboots and different combinations to the above but to no result. Stuck there. Finally, did a restore from my backup just to have a phone again..Any idea what I did wrong from the start?
How long did you wait at the first bootup? It took quite long for me, so I'd suggest waiting up to 20 minutes before turning off the phone. Try flashing with the most lightweight Gapps package, that's what everyone seems to be using. You could also try wiping cache and dalvik cache.

Well, did the Dalvik cache but later on, when I was experimenting. I had waited at least 16/18 minutes till my patience ran out...
Decided to have one more go right now. 1. Did a wipe data / factory reset. 2. After that, wiped Dalvik cache. 3. Presently installing Omni and then will install gapps. 4. Will reboot and leave it to boot until I leave work. (couple of hours from now). And will see what happens.
- Forgot to add thaty in all instances, I selected YES in the "root" question in the end. -
Thanks for replying!

I booted in recovery and in this order: Wiped data / did factory reset - then wiped Dalvik - then did format /system - then flashed successfully Omnirom and at the end select YES in the "root" question. Did not touch the Gapps.
Same result - has been in the Omni Logo for more than half an hour.
Can someone tell me the absolute prerequisites needed to install and boot normally? Apart from CWM Touch 6.0.4.4 that is?
Thanks in advance

all I did under mount & storage is the "format /system". Did not mount anything any other time. Is this part of the procedure too or are we shooting blind here? - Cause directions in the post say flash rom, flash apps, wipe data & reboot, let alone the 15 other combos I've done.
Haven't tried anything yet cause I need to re-download the ROM and presently I can't get any of my 3 PCs "see" the LG's contents like a flash drive. Can only do it in my work's laptop. Beats me why..
If you don't have important data, format internal storage too. No idea for 4.4, but if you flash kdz, this is a must.

Always stuck at Formatting cache

Hello everyone.
Lately I had this frustrating problem with formatting the cache through any recovery I ever had. ALWAYS!
How flashing a ROM goes:
- I'm powering off the phone and enter in recovery.
- I select Wipe Data/Cache (Or Wipe for a new ROM option in CWM)
- It starts by formatting data and next is cache, where I get stuck.
I don't have many options. I can either pull out the battery or wait a while. Oh, no worries, after 5 minutes of "formatting cache" it reboots, with the current ROM messed, obviously.
It's annoying because no one seems to have this problem and it happens every single time when I wipe.
Hope there is someone who will bother helping me out with this.
P.S. - I'm no expert, more like a noob, so don't ask me too-technical questions.
Thankiees!
