bricked - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi. ok so i flashed cm9.1 on my verizon galaxy tab schi800 and it wasnt working as well as my old galaxy cubed rom for me so i tried to restore my backup. no go, bootlooped. so i reflashed cm9 in cwm and it worked. then i already had the stock files and have restored my tab back to factory several times through heimdall a year or so ago so i flashed that thinking i would go stock get root and go back to cubed that way. now im stuck at verizon screen with factory recovery and download mode working but im at a loss. if i can get a cwm in heimdall .tar or something i can flash that and then reflash cm9 and that will work
i read where apparently you cant go back to 2.3.5 after flashing cm9 after the fact (sigh) so if anyone could throw me a link to a flashible rom for my tab in heimdall or a zip for cwm that can be flashed with heimdall or tell me any other way to fix this id be very gratefull. thanks

Am not a cdma user but this link should have cwm

yep. that worked. im back on cm9.1 thank you so much. now i have to figure out if i can go back to stock somehow then flash cubed or if i should try cm10. cm9 is draining my battery horribly lol.

The thread also guide how to return to stock, but maybe a sprint stock, which is fine if you are flashing cube anyway.

Hi, pls help me.

I put in battery again, switch on, but same, it still keeping reboot. I'm a beginner. I very regret now after flashing .zip file with CWM.

Reflash 3 part firmware with odin, I recommend ezbase, for stock +root, and don't panic, as long as you can get download mode all can be saved, stay calm

Had successfully flashed with original firmware 2.3.3 DXJV9 and did the factory reset. However all my sms has gone .
Btw, what is the best root kernel for this firmware?
I'm pretty sure JVO and JV9 are the same in kernel aspects so you should be able to use CF Root 3.2 JVO. The reason for these boot loops might have been because of the rom you were using, if it was a stock one it's no wonder it went into boot loops as Juwe's rom is deodexed so the addon would definitely not work. If it was a deodexed I'm not sure how it could have happened. But really the addon was made for Juwe's rom so unless you were running it it wasn't really the addons fault. Tips for the future: Make a backup in CWM, saves a lot of hassle with odin and saves your stuff. Have a CWM flashable rom on your SD card which saves you needing odin to recover. Hope this helps

Need a little assistance, please.

Hey guys, I'm helping a friend out with his bricked captivate, just wondering, is there a Odin .tar I can use to get him; 1 back to good health on any ROM; 2 have a stable custom recovery. Ty. Happy new years!

Read before posting...read the stickies....and you didnt mention what kind of brick....is it soft brick or hard brick...what kind of rom? Froyo or GB?
For all the odins for Stock roms and kernels
I decided to Odin a few of those, but, for whatever reason cwm recovery doesn't start up, goes to the 3e I try to reinstall packages, sends back signature errors.

Flash a kernel with CWM or find the modded 3e recovery fix.
Tried, both froyo and gingerbread with and without bootloader, with and without cwm also.

You are doing something wrong. If you use a kernel that has cwm baked it there is no 3e it goes to cwm.

Captivate won't boot even after Odin. Download works

Hi all.
I picked up a used cappy that was "bricked" for cheap. It simply bootlooped on the AT&T screen.
Took it home, hooked it up and odin'ed stock kfc1 with bootloaders onto it. I have now tried every one click Odin or hiemdal gb file I can find, and it just sits at the att screen. Download mode works fine, recovery doesn't.
Flashing a gb kernel with cwm through odin works, but still no boot or recovery.
What am I missing?
Thanks!

you might want to try flashing a stock ROM with Odin, I'm sure you can find some around the forum =) It's really hard to hard brick the cappy, and since download mode works all you need is a working ROM, so yeah, just go with a stock ROM first
A stock ROM is what I've been attempting to do. I have tried all the 1 click stock packages in the sticky in the development forum..

Try not using a 1 click
I tried that as well.
I flashed one at a time (meaning just the bootloader, then just the kernel, and finally the rom itself), as well as everything at once.
Proper bootloaders flash fine, kernel flashes fine, and roms appear to flash fine.
Just failure to boot or recovery..
I'm at a loss..
Edit; autocorrect fail

Sounds like the same problem I'm having, unfortunately I believe it's related to a bad internal sd partition and as of yet I've found no way to fix it
If you flash stock eclair, can you enter recovery?
That was the only recovery I was able to access, from there running adb shell, then dmesg I was able to see that the internalsd was corrupted or at least not mounting.
Still not able to enter recovery even on Eclaire.
I think Ill send it to Samsung USA and see what they say..

I figured I would update this, I called Samsung and gave them my imei number and they stated it was still under warranty.
So I sent them the device.
The internal SD was corrupt or bad as stated on the invoice.
I have it back and it works free of charge!
Thanks Sammy!

[Q] Failed downgrading from ICS leak, no charging, bootloop after flashing GB PC Odin

Hi!
So i figured i wanted to get of the faulty ics leak in order to keep my phone safe, but it seems I was able to do the exact oppsite...
I will try to make a detailed overview of what I did, here we go.
I was using Stunner on CLP5. Followed this guide to do the downgrade:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jr3DDEh8vyc&list=UUlVIlK8QHZ2PFkXF97bA0lg&index=5&feature=plcp
What i did:
Flashed the Abyss kernel - rebooted
Wiped with the new recovery
Flashed rocketrom
Got stuck on bootloop. (I should've probably done another wipe here, am i right? )
After flashing Rocketrom, I once again got a new recovery, I figured I was on a safe kernel and recovery now so instead of trying wiping or a different rom, I was stupid enough to do a restore of a backup of a stock rom with root I had from December when i bought the phone.
This made everything even worse, my battery drained and I was unable to charge my phone through USB or 220v. Luckily I got my friend to charge my battery (same phone)
Booting up my phone agian, I was no longer able to acess recovery, but I still had acess to Download mode.
I flashed a stock GB rom successfully through PC Odin, and yet AGIAN I was stuck at bootloop. The file I flashed was a single .tar file. I didn't select update bootloader, should i try this? maybe re-ptartitioning?
I still have acess to download mode.
Has anyone got a clue how to fix this mess?
Thanks for all replies!

Please, pit partitioning seems to get thrown out there like smarties but imo should only ever be used as a very last resort as a lot can go wrong.
Have you tried wiping cache and dalvik? Sorts out reboots 99 percent of the time.

Solved the problem by downloading yet a another stock GB rom, this time with three files, instead of the one .tar file.

[Q] Get CWM back after delting files

Hello,
I flashed CM9 on my Exhibit 4G a few months ago. But the CWM took too much space on my phone, so I just deleted the files in the CWM folder on my phone.
I'd like to flash CM10 now, but I can't get CWM back on my phone.
Any Ideas?
Thanks.

Do you not have a recovery, is that the problem? If so, Odin through download mode to stock, reroot and flash recovery I recommend twrp
