then i flashed the boot.img via fastboot but the device is still going into recovery
any help guys pleaaaaaase :crying:
ps:my incs is unlocked via htcdev
Maybe your backup is corrupt. Do a full wipe of all partitions except sd card. Then, restore the backup and fastboot flash the boot.img don't install superuser.

i restored the same backup about 4 days before this problem and it was fine
do you think its the superuser.zip that caused me all this mess
Im pretty sure flashing superuser is a one time thing.....
At this point i would suggest wiping the phone clean (data, cache, dalvik cache) and reinstalling the ROM

Just try installing a new rom. If that doesn't work, we can at least isolate the problem.

Find the correct rom from the link in the first post and flash that. That's the stock HTC ruu.
Sent from my Incredible S using xda app-developers app
thanks man but i googled the ruu for my vivo and found this
RUU_VIVO_ICS_35_S_HTC_ARA_4.14.415.1_Radio_20.74.30.0833U_3831.18.00.11_M_release_270844_signed
because my buildnumber is 4.14.415.1
i downloaded it but when i try extracting the rom.zip it says " an unexpected end of archive "
i googled that and it sayed the .zip might be corrupt so i was thinking
can i download this one"RUU_VIVO_ICS_35_S_HTC_WWE_4.10.405.1_Radio_20.74.30.0833U_3831.18.00.11_M_release_266013_signed.exe"
and then take the recovery.img and boot.img for it and flash the first ruu i told u about?
I guess there's no harm in trying that. That part of the ROM would be independent of region. I'm sorry I'm not 100% sure about it. You may go ahead or wait for a better response.
But isn't the first one you downloaded a .Exe file? Why are you unzipping it? You can install it through the computer.

This is true. The RUU should be in .exe form not a .zip file. If its .zip file i am guessing you got it from htcdev??? Well either way, your phone is upgraded or "upgraded" by an RUU through a computer connection. You cannot run a .zip file as a .exe file soo....
Here is a very nice list of Vivo shipped ROMs. Just create an account, should not be that hard. Or you can just google "HTC Incredible S shipped RUU"
Edit: you do not flash RUUs....

Hi all
I haven't racked up 10 posts thus i can't post in there so I'm forced to ask here =(
I just downloaded the latest virtuous quattro rom however after having downloaded it two times already, when I try to unzip the file on my computer, it tells me that the file is corrupt and i'm unable to unzip the file. The reason I need to unzip it is because I need to manually flash the boot.img as I haven't rooted my phone.
Does anyone have any solutions for me? Is it just me?
Thanks guys
Maybe I should mention that I've flashed the beta versions of that rom without any problem. I've always done it through manually flashing the boot.img through fastboot
No problems with extracting. Your zip file is probably corrupted.

The software I'm using to unzip should be fine, I used that to unzip the other beta versions and they worked fine.

If it helps, when I tried to flash the rom through clockworkmod recovery, the installation was aborted. I suspect the zip file is corrupted?
Obviously the zip was corrupted and it seems like you're downloading from a cache, try to clear your browser cache and redownload from a different mirror, or using a different browser.

Today I tried to install MIUI 2.5.25 for my N1 using Rom Manager.
After it's installed it automaticly boots into recovery mode, so i pressed "reboot system now" but it booted into recovery again. So I had to restore my backup.
What could be the problem?

Yes, I checked the options Wipe Data and Cache and Wipe Dalvik cache in Rom manager. Or do I need to do this a different way?

you have to flash it from recovery and do wipe in recovery find the rom you downloaded in rom manger in sd in download folder i think not sure but save that zip/rom in your pc then do full wipe then try installing rom again
That didn't help, it boots into recovery again. Anything else i could have done wrong or forgot about?

I don't know anything about hboot, I just rooted my phone and than I downloaded MIUI and installed it. So I also guess non blackrose version.
As urs is a non blackrose partition its stock.so its not hboot prob..why dont ur try it from the beginning..using recovery..wipe all 2x then flash zip

Still the same problem. Also if I boot into recovery I get a warn sign if it boots and than it doesn't starts recovery mode. If I install CWM again (using rom manager) I can boot into recovery without any problems. I had this a few times now. Could that be the reason?
If you shut down the phone, then hold the trackball and power, you should boot into bootloader (hboot).
You should then have an option to boot into recovery.
ROM Manager only allows you to reboot into CWM and no other recoveries, as far as I know.

Check out the ROM thread, I guess the latest MIUI needs special disk partition. Also post ROM related issues in the thread for quick and appropriate response.
I read about it already, and i wanted to post it there too. But I need to have posted at least 10 posts to post on the development page. But isn't it strange there is a non blackrose version if that one doesn't work anyway? And do you know anything about the warn sign I told about?

I'm trying to install blackrose now. I downloaded the latest version but when I launch the blackrose.exe it automaticly closes again. What could be the problem?
BTW, does my bootloader need to be unlocked for this?
No. its not compulsion for bootloader to be unlocked. might be due to bad download. try downloading again and turn off ur anti virus program while doing it.
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
Thanks! Turning off my anti virus did the trick
Glad it worked buddy. the reason behind it is that Blackrose uses some exploit and it makes antivirus program consider it a threat, while it really isnt

I haven't been able to find a stock ROM from Telus, as I've been looking myself. However, I did find a HTC One Telus stock nandroid backup which will work too; that's what I used.

Its a TWRP nandroid backup so if you use CWM you'll have to install TWRP.
Hope this helps!

You probably have to extract the .rar to the twrp folder. On the computer you need to extract the rar file and adb push the contents to your twrp backup location.
Next time think before you wipe system. Then you won't run into problems like these.

Hi.
After unlocking my HTC, installing recovery and a custom ROM (ARHD 13.3) I have a problem with flashing kernels through recovery. Every time when it starts, phone reboots into system, just after the flashing starts, withough flashing the kernel. Any ideas?

Sounds strange! What kernel are you trying to flash? Did you also make sure your download's MD5 is correct; could be a bad download.
Yes, md5 sum is correct. I'm trying to flash anything strange is that after full wipe and reflashing Rom I can flash anything before first boot. After first boot can't flash zip files, like Rom cleaner or kernel. Phone always reboots just after flashing starts.
Once I've found that someone had such problem and formating something through adb helped...but can't find this info again
I tried flashing almost every kernel available.

I think Rom Cleaner should be flashed before first boot anyway, but not the kernel. Are you clearing cache and dalvik before trying to flash?
Yes. I even clean cache through sdk :-\ yep, the Rom cleaner should be flashed before first boot, but anyway it shouldn't reboot even later as I think.

Weird
Just for the sake of trying, a couple of ideas:
1- wipe the cache from recovery (not fastboot) and also wipe dalvik, then immediately flash kernel
2- perhaps there's a permission issue with the zip(s) / folder(s)
EDIT: perhaps you need to update recovery?
I reflashed recovery, tried CWM, TWRP...same on both think about going back to stock with RUU, then trying everything again from the start:-\
First advance...tried.
Second...U mean fixing permissions? Don't know if it's related to that problem, but of course will try.

Though I don't think custom recovery would have issues with permissions (since it's su privilege), it could be the folder where your zip files are doesnt have rw permission, and the recovery attempts to access the folder, is unable to, and therefore just reboots.
Try putting the zip file in a different directory (or maybe even the root folder) and try again.
In root folder? Don't understand where exactly...tried to place it on different locations in storage.

Obvious question, but the kernel is for your version of Android isn't it? You're not flashing a 4.3 kernel on to 4.2.2?
of course not I'm on android 4.2.2 and flashing the 4.2.2 kernel version
---------------------------
as for now everything's ok. Frankly speaking I didn't do anything new. reflashed recovery for the third time i believe, did the full wipe also few times, flashed arhd, rom cleaner and the kernel one by one and it works...for now
---------------------------
and no..it's still the same. After first boot, I rebooted into recevery, tried to flash different zip and what....and reboot just after flashing:/ it makes me sick...:/
Thanks to one and all. I was facing the same issue of being unable to install the Bulletproof kernel on my HTC One having ViperOne 4.2.0 custom rom and TWRP 2.6.3.3 recovery.
I followed the advice here and wiped 'Dalvik cache' and 'cache' and (without rebooting) directly dirty flashed the Bulletproof kernel which did the trick.
Hope this helps someone else too.
Got the same problem. Tried with TWRP 2.6.6.3, 2.6.6.4 & actual CWM with failed tries to flash kernel, bootscreens, themes & the 360 camera fix.
Also tried to flash these recovery via fastboot and at least the m7&m7ul versions.
It happens suddenly
Btw: i'm on an tampered,unlocked hboot 1.54
Any help or ideas are much appreciated
