Yeah it looks nice, but I really hope they do open source it. If they dont, I literally will stop using ubuntu. Thats just wrong.

You never know. They might just want to make money off of it.
If Canonical would release a closed source build, a lot more people than only a few flash addicts at XDA would be pissed.

@nikotank Cool, didn't realize this was twitter
If connecting to the pc is your problem, it is almost certainly an issue of drivers on the windows side.

@Groid yeah I didn't know the issue. Tried multiple driver sources to no avail until reading someone's luck with MTP and voila! Like a charm. Strange, indeed.

This thread is for porting the 3.1 kernel to the dell streak 7.
I will be working on porting the 3.1 kernel to the dell streak 7 I decided to skip over doing
2.6.39 and move to 3.1 were it would be more efficient to port that kernel that way
we won't end up having to port another kernel later.
Developers: giveen, geramy and Artem
Testers: giveen.
Kernel 2.6.39:
WORKING:
Boots to dell black screen.
Boots to bright dell screen.
Broken:
Doesnt Boot.
Kernel 3.1
WORKING:
Nothing......
Broken:
Everything.....
Current Stage:
Building/Writing kernel.

We are starting a bit of initial porting today hopefully by tomorrow we might have some sort of dell screen haha
Since we have done this before with 2.6.39 and we got as far as the light dell screen I think with the nvidia tegra 2 based
kernel that we might get further faster this time I expect to have some sort of dell screen by monday.
good meeting this morning, time to start working on it

It's only a week or so old. The indiegogo has already reached around $7 million out of their $32million goal! Still over 20 days left so let's hope they reach it. If I had the money I would donate for the actual device, have you seen it and its specs?

Not really a Ubuntu or convergence fan. I would personally just purchase a powerful notebook for the price of an Edge, or buy a cheap notebook & turn that into Ubuntu, but to each their own.

the point is not to have to carry two devices with you at all times, in order to have a full mobile OS and desktop OS. This enables you to have a mobile OS when traveling, and a desktop OS when you get home, to work, what-have-you
