[Q] Can't flash custom rom - Samsung Galaxy Mini

Hello guys,
I am trying to flash Cyanogenmod 7 to my sisters galaxy mini. But everytime I use clockworkmod to flash the zip file it gets stuck at 'installing update...' I tried a couple of times (and restalled the stock rom and tried again). Won't get any further.. (I've used multiple zip files:stable and nightly, multiple clockwork tar files and multiple sd cards (4GB and 16GB)
Any tips?
Thank you!

Stuck??? Lol try to flash CWM 5 first. IF tar, then you have CWM 4 now.

Try download again all files and follow the instructions...

The requeriments are not more than 2.3.x baseband. And if not, then it won't boot. But it won't stuck at installing...

Make sure you install clockwork mod properly with odin or zip

if u dont have cwm 5, do this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439751
it will update your cwm u dont need to flash or anything via odin.
if that's not the problem then just try it all over again...
flash stock firmware again : http://yagyagaire.blogspot.in/2011/1...xy-pop-to.html
then root your phone: http://www.howlog.in/2012/07/how-to-...opmini-gt.html

[Q] Problems rooting Samsung Galaxy mini GT-5700I (Phone not detected in Odin)

*NOTICE* Samsung Galaxy GT-5570i mistake in title :S
Hi
Okay so the problem is my Samsung galaxy mini doesnt get detected by Odin v.4.85 but it gets detected in v.1.85. I've tried restarting the phone many times. All settings are set in the "Application" and USB debugg. All usb drivers are installed 100% with Samsung Kies.
Also tried reinstaling the drivers and other versions it still didnt work. Its 100% not the USB cable cuz it works perfectly fine when out of download mode and Kies recognizes the device.
I've tried rooting it with SuperOneClick also , that one gets stuck on one line...I've also tried through recovery mode but it didnt work either i got error, and interrupted.
Also a question : Is it possible to get clockworkmod and root without using Odin?
In any case theese info are needed:Android version is 2.3.6(i did not install this one it came with the phone) , Baseband version 25570IXXKL4, Kernel Version 2.6.35.7([email protected] #1), Build Number GINGERBREAD.IXXKL4

Make sure the zip is downloaded properly.
Also choose install from SD card option not, apply update from SD.

I not have understand if you have rooted or not? if not, before of flash from recovery you must rename the package zip for rooting in update.zip or upd_1.zip (this should be right for your firmware) and then go in recovery and do apply update from sdcard and should works, if not if you not rename the package not works.

[Q] Galaxy Ace Bootloop. Odin-ed, Wiped still no succes.

Dear XDA,
A friend of mine has a galaxy ace stuck in bootloop. The phone has never been rooted or flashed with a custom rom.
I tried to help him, reflashed stock rom through odin and did a wipe/factory reset. But still havent had any succes.
Do you guys have any suggestions ?
Greetings,
A happy galaxy s owner
Also, i do not think it is possible to flash a custom rom because the phone doesnt has CWM and i cant root with SuperOneClick because USB Debugging is not enabled. And I cant acces the phone.
Try this:
Google and download this file names S5570_Odin_Multi_Downloader_v4.38
Cooper_v1.0.ops
Orion.ops
then download a stockfirmware for your ace.
just use some COMMON SENSE in the app, specifically "ODIN" and locate the ".OPS file" and the STOCK FW you just downloaded. Voila! Good as new.
If you can boot to recovery you most definitely can install CWM.
Download official stock rom, then flash it, after that boot into recovery then do a full wipe
Hope that will help

Guys, thanks for the replies but they are useless.
I mentioned the following : "Reflashed stock rom through odin and did a wipe/factory reset. "
I did this with the cooper OPS, why should the orion do something else ?
Any other suggestions?

Did you use the 4.38 Odin? Because I think Ace and S uses different odin versionsIf that didnt work then root it or install CWM. Last resort IMO. Just tell him that you used magic and stopped the bootloop

Flash 2.3.3 first, then 2.3.4 and followed by 2.3.6
Respecting others never hurt, let's build a better XDA community.
hello! i had your problem with my ace and i could not find a solution at first but after a while i had worked out a solution. NOT guaranteed to work. also you will lose ALL DATA
1.flash stock through odin (2.3.5 reccomended)
2.wipe/factory reset
3.flash this: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-eHBmC1vSXGc1BRSWlqRW1Nc28/edit - this will root your device
4.afterwards flash this: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-eHBmC1vSXGeWNBOXhCVjZTRkk/edit - this will give you cwm
5.turn off then boot into recovery again.
6.wipe data/factory reset, cache, dalvik cache, mount and format system
7. install this ROM: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-eHBmC1vSXGVU1TSjdpUlF4MDg/edit
8.boot up your phone. it will take about 5 minutes to boot again, and you will have xperiatized rom. you can now flash whatever rom you like or go back to stock. i hope i have helped you and if i have please hit thanks

Which rom did you flash with Odin? I think that was the problem... Flash this one: S5830XWKB7 Google for the download link, sorry I can't provide you it right now. The package contains four files, put them into Odin and flash it. The phone will boot. It's a multi csc Froyo. Than, you can flash the rom of your choice.
Btw: you can flash cwm, even if you're in bootloop. Just copy the zip to your sd card and flash it in recovery mode, than boot to cwm. Okay, you need an exetrnal/inernal sd card reader for this.

Problem installing any zip from recovery

Hello,
I have a galaxy ace S5830 phone. I wanted to install ICS 4.0 on it. The phone is rooted and runs 2.3.4.
When I try to install any zip file from recovery it gives an error saying "E: Can't open /tmp/sideload/package.zip (bad)".
I just cannot install any zip file.
The phone has android recovery 3e.
I formatted the OS (factory reset) but it didnt change anything. Formatted SD card too but no use.
What is the possible reason behind this error?
Any solution is highly appreciated.
flash cwm.

The log you posted states that the zip file is corrupted...have you tried to redownload cwm and flash it again? It's impossible that you are able to flash the zip for root but not cwm...it must be the zip's problem...

Well, I tried with different zip files of CWM. It is not working. The zip files are not corrupt since I tried them on my friend's ace and they worked fine.
I did not flash for root. I rooted through superoneclick since the flash was not working.
Also the error given is not for my zip file. It is for some package.zip (I dont knw what is this zip file neither do i knw its location tmp/sideload)
Different zip files of cwm?where you get that many? Try to refer to this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12874680...install the cwm from there...and if it is still not working, reflash a new firmware (2.3.6 for most countries) via ODIN and try again...
And one more thing, in stock recovery, you must select install zip from external storage (or something like that), not from cache...you will be brought to your sd card to select the relevant zip file...

With due respect Sir, Different zips means CWM zips from different download sources.
I tried it with 2.3.3, 2.3.4, 2.3.6 (installed them via ODIN). But seems that firmware doesnt make any difference to the recovery. Keeps on giving the same error.
Thanks for the link above..let me try that out.

But, its not working, I need a method to install CWM without flashing. Since, I already have a root, is there any software that can do that?
P.S Tried ROM manager free version. It asked for premium version. Tried cracked premium version, while installation it says "Application not installed".

Flash the latest CWM for Galaxy S Plus and try again.
This is how to flash it:
Download Odin Multidownloader 4.43.
Download AriesVE.ops.
Download recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.9-ariesve.tar.md5.
Than follow these steps:
Turn off the phone and make sure it is disconnected from the PC.
Boot the phone into Download Mode. To do so, press and hold down the Volume Down, Home, and Power buttons until the screen turns on and an Android icon in yellow appears.
Close Samsung Kies Process from Task Manager.
Double-click Odin3 v4.43.exe to open Odin on your PC.
Connect the phone to your PC.
You should see a message that says “Added” in Odin. If not, there might be a problem with your drivers.
Click on the OPS button and select the AriesVE.ops file.
Click the PDA button and select the recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.9-ariesve.tar.md5 file.
Click the Start button to begin installation. Once installation is done, you should see a PASS message. You’re now free to unplug the phone from the PC.
I hope it helps.

@educk: i already installed the recovery clockwork and i installed the broodROM Business Edition v1.2 with it and it works but when im trying to install cm10 im getting that error
Mostly you get this error message when you're flashing a Rom with different partition layout from the existing one.
Just flash again the Rom and you will succeed. Sometimes it will take 3 flashes to finish it.
Good luck.

I remember from the day I flashed for the first time (CM9) I received the same error message. When I searched I realized that most troubleshooting says you have to flash twice the same ROM. So you flash it once, then again into recovery mode and flash again (the same ROM).
When I did that everything was solved and working fine.
so basiclly i have to flash the stock rom twice then reinstall the recovery mode 1.2 and try it again? or can i also flash the broodROM Business Edition v1.2 rom again and try if it works?
I would try the second part -

[Q] P7320 trouble

Hi
I have a p7320 which I am trying to install a custom ROM to, and I am having some trouble.
I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569122
1: flashed cwd through odin
2: flashed superuser through cwm
All fine until now
3: then I flashed the kernel from the same site through cwm
4: bootloop
I didnt take backup, so I couldnt nandroid back
I couldnt turn the device on, so I couldnt transfer another kernel
There were no "mount USB" in cwm so I couldnt transfer the files there either.
I was able to go into download mode, and I flashed the only stock rom I could find in .tar (flashable through odin)
from here: http://androidromupdate.com/2012/12/12/u-s-att-samsung-galaxy-tab-8-9-lte-sgh-i957-android-4-0-4-ice-cream-sandwich-update-finally-arrives/
flashing went fine and the tab booted.
Now I went back and flashed cwm again through odin, but when I was going to place superuser and the new rom on the sdcard.... there is no room on the tab.
In explorer it says : 0 byte available out of 26.9MB
This tab is 16GB.... what happened?
I cant transfer files to it, so the only thing I can flash is the .tar files through odin.
please help

Hmmm, this is usually a sdcard mount thing
so maybe all you have to do is reboot to CWM do a format /sdcard from mount and unmount section in CWM
then reboot to system and see if the problem still there

so maybe all you have to do is reboot to CWM do a format /sdcard from mount and unmount section in CWM
then reboot to system and see if the problem still there

Hi
There is no such thing as format/sdcard in that section.
Only format/cache, format/data and format/system

this probably means that your CWM version is old [5.5.0.4 I guess]
I don't know if your tab has a newer CWM cuz my tab is p7300,
so try to find a newer one or even try TWRP instead, cuz it also has sdcard format function
one little thing, you said your tab is P7320 and yet you have installed a SGH-I957 ROM {read it from your link}
I honestly don't know the deference between the two devices
what I'm trying to say is: maybe the problem is because you're using a ROM for a different device
so maybe you should try THIS [the latest ICS Odin tar samsung framework for P7320]
I have a p7320 and I am using this ROM.

Fast, no bloatware, no freezing.
I followed the instructions no problems. My recovery UI has an option partition SD card under advanced. Dont know if that will help you.

Hi
I was able to download another .tar full stock rom which I flashed with odin.
Worked out fine, and the memory of the SD card is back.
However... I once again flashed cwm and superuser, then i tried the rom you are linking to but the tab wont boot with it
Its just stuck with a black screen after the logo.
Now I have reflashed the stock rom with working sd card
Sorry about that. I remember I had a black screen for a few minutes but eventually it booted. The developer also pointed out boot animations are missing

Hi,
I'm the developer working on the CM10 ROM for the P7320 - yes, the first boot might take a while, and it doesn't show a boot animation, so it might look like it's crashed. But I have tested going from the stock ICS image to my ROM a few times and it seems to work fine, eventually. Perhaps you could give it another go and see?
Cheers.

Hi
I will definetely give it another go this evening
Can i flash superuser, your rom and gapps in one go? Or do I have to boot it in between?
thank you for your answer
The ROM should have super user already, so you shouldn't need that. You can do the ROM and gapps together.
I tried again, and this time it worked like a charm!
Thank you!

What am I doing wrong. My device starts to cyanogenmod boot animation but not further.
Do I have to do the dalvik wipe and cache wipe?
I think i have tried everything. It's been rolling boot animation about 30 minutes now.
Sorry about my bad language.
And thank you for your answers.
I dont have a solution. Is this the first time you use this ROM? One time I wanted to revert to stock to check something and I got an everlasting Samsung animation until I did a factory reset from recovery. Did you try factory reset?
