I've been noticing this problem with my vivid since I bought it 4 days ago. If I havent used it in a hour or so and I try to connect to any Internet site it fails with no connection.
The 4G indicator is on, but no curved lines showing activity. I assume it is in idle, but will not come out.
The workaround I am currently using is disable and re-enable 4G data.
Does this sound normal? Has anyone else noticed this? While searching I found a few related posts but most were from a few years ago.
Usage so far has been in San Jose (No LTE yet), signal shows a few bars, over (-100 db).
Try going to Settings - Power, and make sure power efficiency, power saver, and sleep mode boxes are unchecked. This should fix the issue but you may see a slight decrease in battery life.

Power Efficiency was already off
Power Saver was set to turn on at 10%
I just disabled sleep mode. That might have been it. Only time will tell.
Any idea what the default idle time is for sleep mode to be engaged? and what exactly happens in sleep mode?
With sleep mode enabled, network connections are disabled when the screen is off. I've noticed the network connections also don't appear to reconnect once you turn your screen back on for some reason unfortunately.

Hi all.
Since today the battery conditions of my i9000 are very bad. It lost 19% in 35 min without doing anything special.
It has 63% only for the screen and I think that´s not normal.. The phone runs with automatic screen brightness, but the screen was on lowest brightness during this time.
I can remember that normally the screen had about 35%
I hope you understand what I mean, it is a little bit hard to explain
My i9000 runs on aokp-b34-anarkia-0.1.1.
What can I do? Or what did I do wrong?
Greetings,
lurchi17
Get rid of facebook app and install Friendcaster..... A great alternative that is faster and won't eat ur battery alive...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
But facebook seems not to be the main problem, does it? Because the screen brightness has such a big percantage... More than normally.

After using friendcaster for 10 minutes it seems to have the same battery usage... So this might not be the main problem.

screen time on?
tap screen and check for how long the screen was active .
that should answer your question . I think a reflash of your from would solve the issue
welcome to hit thanks if I helped you out
got ns tools ?
the problem for both u and me ( I assume ) is ns tools if you have it .
you can freeze it or get rid of it . it solved it for me
seems to be prob in most rooms with ns tools
Download an app called battery calibration from market.Charge your battery to 100% open app and press calibrate and remove the cord.now use your phone until the shuts down (0%battery) charge your phone to 100% WITHOUT turning it on,when finish changing boot it up.
now your battery is normal.

Yep. Worst app ever.
Try "Friendcaster" instead. U still get notifications too..
I use 2 methods to reduce battery drain
First , Turn off screen animations & live wall paper , use a dark or black wallpaper it would have a magic effect in reducing the battery .
Second , use a task killer program , for example I use "Advanced Task killer Manager" , then I set it to autokilling all programs when I turn screen off , of course you can set an ignore list to ignore your favorite programs .
I have always found the battery life to be poor but I have come to accept this device has a large screen and great processing power etc!
My UK phone is rooted on the latest ICS and has various apps frozen with titanium backup manager! It use to be in deep sleep mode for about 68% of the time but since 2 days ago cpu spy says it hasn't been in deep sleep mode! I have installed various apps that kill running apps but the phone fails to sleep!
Any ideas why it isn't sleeping, just sits at 200mhz!

Go to Settings -> Sounds -> Go to the bottom -> disable touch sounds. (Better if you untick all 4 options). Reboot. Leave phone for 10 mins. Check CPU Spy. :good::highfive:
Thanks for the reply, I did that when I first got the phone! Just checked and all the boxes are un-ticked!? Any other ideas?

Turn off custom power saving mode.. Check after that.. I faced issues with these two.. Sometimes even l2_hsic goes crazy and drains the battery.. Check that too.
Thanks, again this setting is disabled on my phone! Still sitting at 200mhz! Though the battery doesn't seem to be draining as much!?

hello sir..
hmm since i read that you installed various apps that kill running apps, maybe that is cause to kernel wakelock since your system always working to searching what app running and killed it in various time you set
..many system app that switch back on like google app no matter you turn off except you log out your account
or maybe you can try one off the famous airplane metode which is
- switch your phone to airplane mode
- turn off your phone and pull out your battery (until 10 sec or more)
- put again your battery and turn on your phone
- after complete reboot let it for a while then turn off the airplane mode
I had the same problem with audio_out one but only in imilka's paranoid Android.. Couldn't fix it in any way so left the rom..
the reason taskkillers are disputed is because memory works different on android. It reloads certain stuff afterbkilling it, causing a cycle of killing and reloaded that can cause more drain than is intended to safe

I have problem with my s3 mini.
I used stock ROM. it's still official without any root or something.
My baseband is DXAMB1.
My problem is, when I start my phone, the battery life up to 18 hours. But after 70-80 hours up time, the battery suddenly really sucks.
it just about 9-10 hours a day. For example (I forgot to screen capture), I charged my phone and full at 11 pm and then in the morning (6 am) it says my battery 50%. When I look at the battery status it says Android OS stay awakes for 6 hours.
After I restart my phone, it back to normal. When I woke up, it says 80% battery and Android OS stay awakes for 1 hours.
Everytime my battery life become sucks, I need to restart the phone.
Is anybody have the some problem with me? And how to fix this?
It just sucks that I have to restart my phone every 3 days.

Are you rooted, if yes try using Better Battery Stats from xda and find out whats draining your battery
I'm not rooted yet.
But Du Battery Saver said Android OS is draining my batteries.
Even in battery saver mode.
I will give screen shot after if it happening again.
Do you know why Android OS consumed much power?

I checked another thread and I found the answer without using any custom ROM.
He answered = "Developer option, background process up to 4 process" and it works! :fingers-crossed:

I was pretty curious about this option too, some time ago, so I googled it and finally came to the opinion that it is like using a task manager, = useless on Android, because it has its own RAM manager.
This option to limit process is what it is: for developers, to test how their eventual app handle once it goes in background, and what if once killed. (read http://www.extremetech.com/computing/112013-how-multitasking-works-on-android-and-ios/2)
My personal advice/choice for a longer life for your battery:
1 - root your device and freeze/delete bloatware (system apps: first freeze them, see how it goes, then, delete them (after making a backup)
2 - use
A) Juice Defender (balanced or aggressive), set 2g connection when the device is in your pocket,
B) Use Wakelock Detector to check what most consumes your battery (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector&hl=en)
3 - use wifi and 3g only when needed, - don't count on the smartness of automatic mode 2g/3g under data
4 - switch off syncronization if you don't need it 24h (whatsapp / viber will work anyway)
5 - settings / display /
A) Auto adjust display tone ON
B) Turn off softkeys (I know exactly where 'back' and 'option' keys are..)
6 - Power saving mode ON for screen and cpu (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTLTBo2DRQA)
7 - Disable double tap on home button for S-Voice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmU8hXUXNFE)
8 - Keep normally a mid-low brightness level, you can adjust it quickly if needed, can't you?
9 - Disable Auto-update in Google Play (you can update manually)
10 - How To Disable Samsung Push Service and Samsung Ad Utility Services (http://www.eyes4tech.com/2013/03/ho...e-samsung-push-service-and-samsung-ad-utility)
11 - Turn OFF vibration (actually, I like it and I use it for SMS and incoming phone calls)
12 - Set airplane mode when you go to sleep (or just switch it off if you don't count on it for morning alarm or to use it as an eventual light)
13 - Never use a Task manager
Assuming you're enough smart for keeping Bluetooth OFF if you don't need it, by this way, according to my daily use (phone calls, texting, internet, no gaming), I recharge it each 1d 15/22 hrs.
Hopefully this helps. :cyclops:

It doesn't matter what you're doing, screen on time will always be around 5 hours. If you're gaming, you'll get around 4, and if you're just messaging people without internet, maybe you'll get 6-6.5. Ignore what standby time you get, that's considering you don't touch the phone at all.

Stamina mode learns how you are using your phone and creates a profile. Hence at the start it shows quite high backup time. After some time it gathers data about your usage and shows estimated time based on it.
Only problem I have it is that notification led doesnt work. xperia sp biggest selling point isnt working. Sony should fix it.
