No ROM will work - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Hi,
i have a Velocity with HTC Sense 3.5 and Android Gingerbread (Germany/Vodafone) and HBoot 1.85 and S-ON.
I have unlocked the bootloader and use Clockwork for installing Custom ROM, but every attempt to do that is failing.
I work exactly like the ROM instructions.
I start the recovery, wipe system, data, chace, dalvic and then (only if ROM instruction request first install the kernel via (Fastboot flash boot boot.IMG)) and then /or at first install the ROM via the recovery. The installation completed successfully. Then i copy the created boot.img on my sdcard via fastboot (Fastboot flash boot boot.IMG). It works so far.
When i restart the phone the logo of the custom rom appears, then i get into a bootloop. That happens with every rom, doenst matter if ICS or JB, nothing works.
What is the problem here.
I'll mention that the adb doesnt work on my PC it always says "no device" but fastboot work.

Fastboot flash boot boot.IMG
Your only using the kernel to boot... not writing it to boot sector
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2

sry, yeah i did it with "Fastboot flash boot boot.IMG"
anything else that could produce my error?

Well you need to either do the ota or use the ICS ruu to upgrade to ICS that's why nothing will boot
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2

What is ota?
I dont understand why i have to upgrade via ruu. For example this ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1585373) there is a instruction how to do with fastboot. But doesnt work. There must be an explanation for that.
But ok, even i want do it via an ICS ruu, can i use my created recovery of gingerbread via clockwork recovery or does it stuck then, too?

Once you do the ruu to ics... your recovery backup will be useless
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2

Use the old version of go backup. Not the pro. You can find it on 4shared. Then run ruu

I give you a tip i have flashed 3 HTC Velocitys in last year but the stablelst, fastest and pefect rom is the new Cyanogenmog 10 nighty from hr8rift, another developer end his work in the middle of end and then you lives with many bugs and bricked the ram for a long time.....
Vodafone is a **** provider he hasnt rollout the 4.0.3 on their phones, many Peoples are angry.
And the Quality from flash is better in HTC as Samsung Galaxy devices
Cyanogenmod 10 is in nightly and works very good its .4.1.2.
I think the final comes in few monts or weeks

[Q] what am i doing wrong?

hey there everyone
i have s-off,bootloader unlocked, updated to hboot 1.85.2525, root enabled, usb debugging, wcx revocery
im coming from stock rogers rom. sick of waiting for ics.
but whenever i install a custom rom i get boot loops. did i miss a part? i've tried 3 or 4 of the main custom roms. all the same, stuck at boot loop or hangs there. i've done everything right from the bootloader unlocked to s-off(wire trick) then updating hboot, flashing a recovery (wcx), installing superuser
do i have to install an att or bell gingerbread ruu then update from ota? then install a custom rom? shouldn't just installing the custom rom work?
coming from a nexus one.. so much more stuff to do just for a custom rom....
I was having the same issue with my friend's Rogers HTC Raider. (When he was running the stock Gingerbread)
Last night, we put everything back to normal (Bootloader re-locked, etc.) and installed the stock Bell ICS. ( RUU_HOLIDAY_ICS_35_S_BM_3.38.666.2_Radio_3.04.4740.11_34.29.701040.22_release_255916_signed )
Then did the usual procedure of unlocking bootloader, installing clockworkmod recovery, and installing a rom. The rom we did was Desensed 1.1. It booted fine and is pretty feast. Wifi isn't working on it (I think mainly because his phone is S-ON and that causes kernel issues when flashing).
I hope this helps.
S-on or s-off does not effect WiFi working or not, they are 2 different things.
If you are s-on flash boot.IMG thru fastboot, flash Rom thru recovery. Sometimes u have to reflash boot.img

No, he was right. With S-On, when you fastboot flash, modules are not usually included. Thus, when he just flashed the zip, the kernel wasn't flashed, and the ROM's modules most likely don't match.

CAN NOT flash any ROMS //except CM-7.1

I have an Incredible S, running CM-7.1.I tried updating to CM-7.2, and I got a wi-fi error, couldn't turn on the wi-fi. Tried nightly versions of 7.2 the same problem came up. I switched to MIUI rom (2.3, 2.4, 2.8, 2.9) and I got the same problem. Wi-fi could not work. The only rom that works on my mobile phone is the CM-7.1I dont want that ROM anymore. Now I am close throwing the phone on the wall, so please suggest me a way to clean my phone from every data possible, and give me a link to a stable ROM I can download. Any advice will be useful
You are s on, right?

Yes I am. I cannot install any ROMS, excepts CM-7.1, and I am looking for a way to wipe everything on my phone and install a MUIU working ROM. or any other ROM
Till you are s on you have to flash the boot.img inside the Rom.zip manually via fastboot.
Means, extract the boot.img into your fastboot folder on pc, flash the Rom on the Device, go into bootloader - fastboot and write on the pc in the terminal
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
And reboot device.
If you had a s off bootloader you won't have to do that.

Which one requires less time? option 1 or 2?
Can u give me detailed instructions to use flashboot (option 1)?
How can I s-off my bootloader?
Option 2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22789885
Since you are s-on recovery can't enter the boot partition, means you have the flash the boot.img again with the kernel and modules for WiFi, Calling etc.
But you can access it through fastboot so you have to reflash it.
Helpful enough?

Edit, since you are s-on you will maybe have to downgrade your hboot and flash the revolutionary hboot, but I can't explain that now 'cos I have tomorrow my first school day and I have to look good
You can use the search funktion, keywords: downgrade, revolutionary

Just like what Silversniper said, just flash boot.img which extract from the ROM.

[Q] CM 10 Stuck Reboot Issue

Hi,
I would like to begin by thanking all the CM 10 developing team for their fabulous work!
Also, I'm sorry if this is a repost or posting in the wrong area. I searched allover but no one has had this issue on this device. I finally had to make a account as this is my first problem that's why I could not post in the development question.
I recently got the HTC Vivid. I did everything required to install Cyanogenmod mod, i.e. install rom, (I'm S-On) fastboot boot.img, etc...
After I had the phone setup and apps installed, I rebooted the phone. The phone stuck on the Cyanogenmod logo. I knew there was a problem after it did this twice. So, I booted into recovery to reinstall the rom after a full wipe. When selecting "choose zip from internal sd card", it gave "cannot mount internal emmc". I knew I had to start from the beginning as this is a soft brick. So, I relocked the bootloader, reverted to stock, then did everything again.
Again it did the same thing but this time it mounted the internal emmc but it would not boot past the logo.
I tried looking allover, even in other device forums, I did not find anything. PLEASE HELP!
JUST FYI, I AM NOT A DEVELOPER AND ALSO NOT A NOOB! I have rooted all the devices I have owned and I know what I'm doing for the most part. This is the first problem I have ever encountered!
Thanks
mubby93
Sounds like you are using clockworkmod
Uhhh...
Get twrp or the other recovery...
Then flash that...
Boot to recovery
Mount via USB in recovery
Let windows tell you it needs formatting and format it

I will give that a try when I get home.
Is the problem from cwm then?
Isn't it recommended to use cwm with cm?
Sent from my HTC Vivid
No... CWM is not recommended...
Its unofficial and breaks partitions

We seriously need to remove all links to cwm for this phone

I did all the above! This time it is stuck on the logo for the first boot up...
I also did RUU back to stock, locked bootloader and did it again.. same result
EDIT:
I did it again and this time it worked! It even rebooted properly. Thanks!

HTC Raider 4G BOOT!!

Hi there,
I've used for a while with AT&T ROM without any problem.
Successfully rooted and CWM installed.
I tried to flash my phone by this ROM using CWM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2171741
However I failed. My phone didn't work with it.
Now, I cannot go into my CWM anymore. Although I reinstalled it.
I still can access to Bootloader. Select Recovery but it showed some scripts then it couldn't go further.
Anyone can tell me how to fix it?
I am frightened now since my phone is nothing more than garbage now I cannot do anything with my phone
Thank you so much
You're gonna have to relock your bootloader and run the RUU then unlock your bootloader to flash your recovery again, then you'll be able to run your recovery again. Also if you're S-ON, you have to extract the boot.img from the rom you installed and flash it before you install the rom, otherwise the phone won't boot.
Download another recovery to your computer...
Go into hboot... go to fastboot... connect via USB
Fastboot flash recovery (recovery name)
Reboot bootloader... choose recovery

Hello,
I did the way you said and it worked!!
Thank you very much.
Note: I think the ROM I flashed had some kind of weird code that led to the problem.
I used AT&T edition for my Bell Canada phone. RUU said failed during the process, however, that's when I reinstalled my CWM and it works again!
Thank you everyone for helping me with this question!
Get away from CWM...
Switch to TWRP or WCX

Ur welcome and like do what ringfool said CWM doesn't play well with this device. I personally use WCX but switch recovery cuz most of the time roms flash with errors is because of the recovery.

Yes! CWM really works badly on HTC Holiday.
WCX really rocks! It shows everything precisely and large enough to look haha.
Most of ROMs can be flashed using WCX. CWM cannot open some
TWRP for the win...Is that redundant? Flashed it last night, works flawlessly with the cm10 rom
Someone needs too post a really big sign somewhere in these forums that says DO NOT USE CWM I have seen at least 5 guys in the last month getting screwed because of it.

[Q] Phone stuck at 'HTC quietly brilliant' screen

Let me know if you can help...
So I did a system update for my phone on Friday and when it went to restart after the update it was stuck on the 'htc quietly brilliant'.
I don't how to get it booted successfully and have tried the recovery options in the menu except for the one that resets everything, just in case I am able to not lose much. I have read a lot about this and tried connecting by usb but it doesnt show up on my computer.
Is there any way to get the phone to boot?
In the recovery menu it says:
'failed to open loopdevice (No such file or directory)'
it says that 6 times then says
failed to mount /sdcard (No such or directory)
Bootloader screen says:
*** Locked ***
GOLFU PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.28.0000
RADIO-1.06.98.13M2
eMMC-boot
May 17, 2012, 16:19:28
HBOOT
My PC is Windows 8.1.... phone is stock and has been unlocked a year and half ago to be used with my provider.
What other info would help?
Anyways if any one can help let me know! Thanks
You could try unlocking the bootloader, rooting and then flashing a ROM with a new kernel..

if you have another phone or an sd card adapter, you can put the ROM on the sd card, then boot to recovery, flash the ROM, boot to bootloader and flash the kernel via fastboot and then wipe cache and dalvik cache again and then your phone will reboot. if you are reflashing stock rom then no need to flash kernel.
and no it wont delete superuser if you are using a custom rom or a rooted stock rom.
