[Q] SGS Is too SLow - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys m using the REMICS Rom version 4.2.1.and while playing games other stuffs it is too slow.i have not partitioned my fone..should i?..nd plzz tell me friend wht should i do..or should i chANGE to other rom

Try to reflash your Rom. If it didn't improve, i recommend flashing another Rom. Try the one I'm using. It's lag free and perfectly stable.
Device: GT-i9000
Rom: JB 4.2.1 C-RoM Mix v5
Kernel: Mackay 0.234

Most smoothness come from CPU settings. Try to switch to Interactive/SmartAss/lulzactive governors, set min.freq. to 400MHz or set a LiveOC. If lag persists, try another ROM

Yes, but the downside is the increase of battery consumption.
There are Roms already running lag-free using stock CPU settings.

Maybe you shloud try this ROM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2075637
It is for gaming.

Move to the latest Slim Bean - it's sooooo fast

[Q] Which Rom (suggestions)

Hey guys,
Wondering which Rom u can suggest that you have had good experiance with and stability. Had a bit of a bad experiance with cm7, bricked my galaxy i9000 twice, great rom but would rather wait on stable release.

I believe in stability smoothness and speed. My choice is Juwe's Smart Edition. I am on 5.2. Never had any complaints/FCs... ever. OCed at 1.2 GHz with semaphore 1.5 and Gingerway blue ocean theme.
Loving it.

Me have Blockbuster 4 and GalaxianGT SP2 kernel. Very good battery life and no FC.
Juwe´s Smart Edition really is a great rom. It´s fast, stable and deodexed
Jetpack rom is a really stable rom It is super snappy installing it with galaxian kernel is gr8 combo also it is pretty easy to install so go for it!

Juwe i keep going back to.. no questions asked!
Well currently on Darky's 10.2 Extreme Edition, looks like Juwe is the favorite. Can this be flashed with odin ?
And is the "Wipe" download better than the "No Wipe"
I am currently using Simply Honey 4.0 Rev2 + Galaxian GT SP4.... smooth, fast, stable...
Darky's JVQ Resurrection Edition. Highly recommended.
normally romkitchen. but 4 long time not updated -.-
when you can live with jvp then romkitchen is best i think
A great rom, for me is the insanity rom from nitr8. It's a small rom in size, and have only the basis apps that a phone required.
Very smooth and very stable, I didn't need nothing else
I'm on Juwe's Smart Edition v5.3 XXJVR ... no FC , good battery life, fast & stable. Best ROM for me so far.
Juwe 5.3 jvr is good

[Q] What Kernel are you using with what Rom and why?

As the title suggests I would like to know what kernel people are using with what Rom and why.
Do you use the same Kernel with every Rom you flash?

Well im on stock 2.2.1 froyo with CF-ROOT kernel. got this phone as present lats week. haven`t flash it yet xD but ,as anyone here, i just love flashing
I am using cm9 nightlies - based on 4.0.4 because of its stability, good battery life and performance, settings + twics - tw launcher, weather widget and some other things from sgs3, atm with devil3 .79 kernel, with stock ram (378mb, if needed, i can increase it up to 403mb), stable oc up to 1400mhz (with semaphore 1140max., 1200 -> bootloop), also gpu is oc-able ... but if u dont want to oc, semaphore kernel is better for u
I'm reinstalling right now the miui speed ics by lucainno, with devil3 kernel. I really love this rom expecially for the layout, which is different from any other rom! The speed is great and battery life as well. And the kernel is simply... awesome! For its customization
Hi, I'm using ics 4.0.4 cna by franzy with the midnight kernel. I had the devil before but i got a bootloop. With the last midnight the phone is smooth, no lags, good battery life, no bugs until now !
Saurom jw5 + semaphore + ext4 works for me.. very smooth ops. Sticking to 2.3.6 for the fm radio

I'm running the CM9 nightlies as well, with a Semaphore kernel. Very stable and good batteri life, although I'm thinking about comparing with a devil3 kernel. Right now, with the battery life I'm having the most important thing for me is the stability, though.

How dose your device get along with JB?

Hi, some how, every JB ROM that i have tried seemed to be very slow and laggy.
At first, i thought that i was doing somthing wrong but it's not my first time with ROM flashing and i can't be wrong with every installation.
What JB ROM are you using, what modifications have you done with it, and most imprtant, is it fast and smooth?
My device gets along great. Im on X-Bean + Semaphore. On default its running smooth & fast & stable already. But I change settings: LiveOc 120, ondemand smooth ui on, no-op, big mem 404 MB, rasd 1024 and now its even smoother & faster.
I would say give it a try. I came fresh from stock JVT from there I flashed X-Bean 3.0. Had 2 do it twice.

You can try C-RoM Mix. Its very fast, smooth and stable. This is a feature-packed Rom based on CM10 and SlimRom sources.
No modifications needed because its already very fast. But the user can always do modifications on CPU speed and RAM if he wants to.

SlimBean 3.0 is RedBull for my phone

CM 10 latest nightly+ semaphore 2.6.0
Works awesome!
Running ParanoidAndroid 2.54 with Semaphore 2.5JB + PimpMyRom 2.12.
Can get a little laggy if f.e. unloading a heavy app from RAM (like 3d game, Chrome) but all in all smooth as butter.
X-Bean + Semaphore works best 4 me
Thank you for your help though few ROM's that were written here i have already tried and they were pretty laggy and slow.

Slim Bean v7
Tiger-Jelly Bean v5 is very good. It has Cyan Core with all the semaphore features and you can oveclock up to 1.4 ghz. And it has good battery life and performance.

Use Slim Bean Roms , they are really smooth for Jelly Bean.
I can't recommend Roms with CyanCore , I mean who needs to OC the kernel to 1,4GhZ , that is:
-Heavy waste of battery
-Makes your CPU's Life short
CyanCore is more or less useless.
Use Roms with Semaphore Kernel , Devil Kernel or Mackay Kernel , with these kernel you will be happy.
If you want Roms that are using CyanCore Kernel (like Tiger Jelly Bean) , flash another kernel

Thats why you can use Semaphore Tools, so CyanCore is Semaphore , just that simple.
I can't recommend it , cause normal Semaphore works fast not like the weird CyanCore.
Ok i go to try Tiger Jelly v5 but which kernel i must flash after install rom for better performance and good battery? In tiger jelly is now CyanCore kernel please somebody give me a link for better kernel like semaphore, devil or gear kernel
Oh yes does Tiger Jelly work all normal without FC's or some other problems???

This kind of threads are forbidden on XDA - "best ROM thread".
You can do this: Install CoCore, install NoFrill CPU, change governor to PegasusQ in that app, and IO Scheduler to SIOPLUS or SIO. For ROMs, try and see what suits you best.
