Adobe Flash Player performance - LG Optimus 2x

Basically I just got the P990, had a HTC HD2...
My main reason for getting the P990 was because it has a superior CPU & GPU and foolishly I thought Adobe Flash Player would work better because I use that plugin ALOT
I am frankly disappointed alot.
On my old 1ghz cpu, Adreno 200 gpu HD2 I could stream 720p from the desktop version of youtube...
On the Optimus 2x I hardly get a smooth 480p, it's smooth here and there, but 720p is horrible.
Why is that? I'm on Gingerbread stock official, haven't tried other ROM-s because I just got the phone and it's basically new.
I tried the playback on both default Adobe Flash Player 10.3 that is in-built in the official GB ROM and I tried some 11.1 don't know exactly which version and they both don't give me the results I would expect from a Tegra 2 and a dual core CPU.
P.S. I'm NOT new to flashing at all, did that a million times on my former HD2.
The only thing I see P990 is better then my old HD2 is in gaming. =.=
Someone please help me or suggest me what I can do to get this Flash Player up and running how it should, it's very disappointing for a more powerful phone.

maybe try another web browser or installed a youtube apps from googleplay.. and maybe try to change rom from ICS..

Thanks for the reply
I'm more interested in the flash player performance itself because I stream a lot of movies/series online that still use this particular plugin. :cyclops:

mine got a slower performance also for live streaming videos but sometimes it's fast, maybe it cause by internet reception, try to use the latest flashplayer..

You can also go here and get the last 2x-3x version and the last 4.0 release. Found link in other thread. I had issues once and getting a newer release helped

Is the flash performance really supposed to be so bad?

Sometimes even 480 p lags and 720 p is like a slideshow. I am using stock rom v20b 2.3.4. Is the performance so bad because of the stock rom or what?

I have the same problem , tried with many versions of stock based roms and kernels and different flash player versions but no luck. Now using django manouche rom with stock kernel, best till now with flash player v11 but max 480p videos from yt. witch 720p it's terrible. anybody?
p.s. my friend has galaxy s and the same video from youtube in browser it's working very good even at 720p. Why?

I'm using a modded stock rom and never lag at 480p so try a different rom.
Stop whining about 720p I've seen many vids of those so called sgs playing 720 and it does lag besides that you don't notice the difference on a small screen and for HDTV out it's upscaled so stfu about it. It lags because it's flash.....in a browser perfectly normal.
ICS with real hw acceleration might fix this but who knows and who cares.

I've been reading your comments over many threads, and seriously, you need to fix your attitude. And use proper sentences and commas.

Best decision!

Should I buy?

I'm thinking to buy a Galaxy S 2nd hand for £97. It's the 8gb model.
I have a few questions to ask
Considering it doesn't have flash what's the camera like? Also what's the front camera like?
Is there anything I need to look out for like certain model numbers having defects etc.?
What's the development like here, is project butter working for jelly bean? Also what's the overclocking like, what's the highest you can overclock to?
Is gaming good on this phone? I know games like Nova 3 will struggle but what about Nova 2 etc.?
I will be very grateful to whoever answers these questions for me, thanks

Nova 3 runs fine actually. The only game that struggles is gta 3, but it runs quite well with modded audio, etc.
The best thing about the SGS is the audio chip. Install the devil3 kernel and voodoo sound and you'll have a very good mp3 player.

Camera is great for me and no defects I know about and yes project butter works I recommend slim bean rom

Hey there.
First camera is really good, yeah it would be nice if it had flash, but well.. But there is night mod that really helps, it cant do miracles, but can help in dark enviroment. HD video is also pretty good.
Development is really nice. Theres lots of roms, ICS and JB etc. Im not sure about overclocking, never did it, but i think it can go up to 1.4GHz.
Cheers.

[Q] ICS - is it worth the upgrade?

Hi Guys,
I want some feedback regarding ICS update. Is it worth it? I am on Rogers (Canada). Any one experience ghost call/sms? How stable is it?
I would appreciate any feedback?
Thanks
A lot of users are having difficulty with the base band working. There's a thread about it in the optimus forums. My son uses mine to play angry birds. Wifi works well. I think someone mentioned problems with Bluetooth connections. As with most things your mileage may vary.

From my experience MMS sucked, the camera was buggy, and there's a lot of Korean bits left in it. I think GB Prometheus ROM has it beat by a long shot to be honest. If you like working on Android you'll enjoy it cause you will be doing a lot of it.

It charges the phone a lot faster, battery's charge lasts longer than before while not using the phone.
Once you have flashed the baseband with the fastboot procedure (because once you have flashed the ICS rom you lose the GB download mode) and once you have deleted all the Korean T, Nate and SKT bloatware, it runs pretty great...HOWEVER!!!
You ARE NOT going to be able to adjust the brightness while watching 3d videos or movies while using the stock player...
You ARE NOT going to be able to use the 3D Converter as you used to with GB because IT DOES NOT TRANSFORM ANY GAMES TO 3D!!!
The CAMERA PROBLEM!!!
Some games are not running like they should (ocassional slowdowns not present while using GB) even if they are in 2D and you have most of the telephone's ram free.
Everything else appears to be working fine.
So far I've had great results with wifi, sms, and phone on straight talk in USA. Wish I could say for Rodgers. There is a thread here that discusses working basebands for the O3D and the Thrill. you should check it out.

[Q] CM9 (Fat'n'Creamy) vs. CM10 (JCSullins)

Hi,
I just thought it would be useful to start a thread focused specifically and exclusively on the pluses and minuses of the two great choices we have for our Touchpads.
I suspect a lot of us are sitting with CM9 nightlies and wondering which way to leap...what do people think? What are the benefits and issues with each?
Thanks.

I'd say that is more of a "Pro" than a "Con", in my opinion.
Even without flash support we can still install it and run it with native browser or Firefox.

I was noticing graphics errors with flash on CM10, either low FPS or scrambled looking flash elements. I also got this in other UIs in CM10 randomly. I went back to CM9 since I don't really see the benefit of CM10 at the moment.

What's considered to be the best rom for stability and battery life that is ICS or JB?

[Q] What is the advantage for choosing CM

What has CM for advantage above fw or other rom's?

A clear difference is speed. No more lags in opening anything which is the major drawback of official jb.
How about battery performance. I now use dxamd1 with cocore 6.8. And I charge once a day in the nightly hours. And use my phone freqently the whole day

Battery is quite good for me. A good start considering the rom is not optimized yet.
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app
Battery life is amazing, considering cm10.1 is still quite raw. I've just plugged my phone in after 2 days.. 15% battery left. Some whatsapp, some messaging, some browsing, some music... the usual stuff. Wifi on 100% of the time.
So is speed, smooth as butter. The only drawback I was able to find so far is benchmark results... ran antutu and scored 5030 points, while the better stock JB roms are near or at 7000 points. Mind you, if I hadn't run that benchmark, I wouldn't have noticed there was a performance deficiency.. no lags, no hiccups, nothing.
If you don't use video recording, and don't mind turning the volume down then up during a call to solve the low volume problem... then yes, go with CM10.1 as it is right now, it doesn't dissapoint. It can only get better!
So wich cm Rom version comes out best out of the box here. And can i flash it over all fw versions?
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app
I hope that the issue of video playback is resolved soon!!
That's the only reason I don't try cm10.1
I think it will be fixable, I remember the times when g5 cm9 didn't have hq acceleration

Well, there are a lot of CM10.1 nightlies... Have a look in the archive, I've personally had excellent results with the 20130621 one. Don't flash the latest 20130627 since it's corrupted (it weights 94 MB and a full rom is about 165-170MB)
From what I've read so far, CM10.1 works just fine if flashed over XXLQE firmware, but could have problems if using another one as base. I used polish XXLQE as base and it worked perfectly, apart from the two or three bugs CM10.1 still has.
I think cm 10.1 and pac 23.0 works well with any other base too. I'm using indian ddulp8 and got no issue at all. But better install from fresh stock firmware to avoid any problems.
