Been waiting for a root for my phone for a while now. Any news? I've got a HTC Desire C (golfc) my carrier is Cricket.
You can root your phone the same as any other user. However, you cannot flash the same roms or you could brick your phone.

I'm unable to root my phone with the methods I've tried. It sits at a screen that has the HTC Logo and says, "This build is for dev purposes only..."
I've been told in another thread that there is no root for the golfc.
Make a clockworkmod backup and send me your boot, I can modify it to have root access.
Dont flash superboot it will work but, break your wifi.
Other thing if you flashed superboot you can flash my oc kernels I think it's compatible with cdma too, just copy /system/lib/modules/ files from my rom to enable wifi, push to your phone same directory.

GB? does it matter if i had ICS before this problem?
I believe it doesn't matter. When you flashed the kernel with stock ics, it will messed your stuff up. Find the gb download, then go to boot loader, it will ask you to update or not. Say yes then let it do it's thing. Then boom. Gingerbread.

Did you even read the link they posted? It tells you exactly what to do in the op of that thread. Questions are good but it is a general rule to read before asking questions.

In case you didn't read it, it says out it in your external card and boot into boot loader by holding down volume down + power. It should scan it and ask if you would like to update or not. Select yes, then it should reboot or something. Yada, you are back to gingerbread.

Thank you so much ill try it out after i get back from school
ok one problem i dont have an sd card...
I am not sure if you could still do it wihlh internal storage. Load into boot loader, choose the recovery option then select internal USB tuggle. I am not sure if your system will detect the file. Let me make sure.

USB OTG support for HTC salsa
Hi ,
My device is HTC salsa (rooted), running by stock rom(Android version 2.3.3, kernel version 2.6.35.10), will my device support USB OTG ?, so that i can connect Flash drives(Pen drive/hard disk/mouse/keyboard) to my device, if not , is there any way to make my device to support USB OTG. I don't have interest in custom ROM.

hi there, although you can use the search function for this, i may aswell allow this question for others that wish to follow this.
I typed in USB OTG and got this as top search >http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1820375
please beware this isn't designed to run on our phones, this may or may not work. i would suggest using the search functions and look into HTC variants of this and not other brands. Good Luck in your quest chap :good:
hi,
Thank you for it reply, is there any app to find OTG support available or not ?

that's not recommended, why would you want to? all you would do is cause force closures and possibly crash the system.apk which renders the phone pretty useless. the system.apk is meant for each phone so for use in another htc model it probably wouldn't work correctly or functions would be missing, and to use in another brand android you will find it won't work at all.
rule of thumb, never move a system app to the sd card. unless you want to reflash your rom again or know how to replace it back again.this goes for google play, and other main system files just to save space.
Since Internal memory is low and I don't want to loose system app , I just wanted to convert system app to user app, install as user app and create a link through link2sd. So that it my internal memory increases.

there's no other way other than rooting and using data2sd to increase memory. its been tried and tested and all you end up with is failure and some serious complications

Use Root Browser from Play Store. But do you want to copy the whole folder? You atleast cant save the folder an an .apk. But you can copy all .apk contents for sure.
Please don't encourage users to do the wrong thing. Never move or mess with system apps when they don't know what there Doing. All you said here has contradicted what I said of don't do it.

I just got a new 8 GB SanDisk class 10, and have formatted Ext3, should I pop in the card on the existing ROM running existing a Data2Ext script ? Or should I flash the script back into the existing ROM ?

1. By rooting my HTC Desire C and using it with the stock room (not with the nameless rom) could i be able to Update if htc sends a new software update like jelly bean.
2. Is there any method how to unroot if i have warranty purposes ?
Thx a lot.
Sent from my HTC Desire C using xda app-developers app
You can still receive updates while your rooted but you may have to reroot afterwards and I don't think there will be a jellybean update for this phone probably just be a few software updates.
Also if you used the superboot r1 method of rooting you can easily do a full unroot from the options in supersu if you need to send your phone off for any reason. I did this recently when I sent mine off for repair.

This roots are only permanent roots. You can install updates, but than when I tryed my root was deleted and I needed to root it again and now I'm using nameless rom. So you should try just to download software updates and install them and then reboot your phone and check if you got root with Rootchecker and SuperSU.
Well now im confused a bit, i think its imposible to root desire c if bootloader is locked ... :/
Mby.im sounding dumb but im noob

Hard Touch and Lagginess
Hey .. Desire C's touch is a bit harder than Explorer's .. Has anyone noticed that ... ??
And I have observed lagg in playing games and a long delay in opening application specially message app, people app and when I press the back button , it takes 3 seconds to go to the previous screen .. Please can anyone help me out ,,, ?
The lag is probably due to sense 4 as it is pretty ram intensive .
But you can try ram managing scripts like supercharger v6. or try swapping ( install the overclocked kernel before you swap )
Over-clocked Kernel
Hey, I just had a question regarding the over-clocked kernel for the desire c. I'm already flashing the latest and last nameless rom and was thinking about trying out the explosion, but I was just wondering if anyone had any insight regrading the over clocking-- I read on the nameless thread that there were some issues with it?

You have to type adb shell
Then try typing cat /proc/emmc
I dont think you will get an output if you try this command through terminal unless you are rooted. You need to type su then cat /proc/emmc when you try this using termnal emulator.

r1 superboot splash screen
1. Was the phone operating and in use after you rooted it with r1_Superboot?
2. Have you installed Superboot and installed a ROM without rebooting the system or wiping caches/data etc?
3. Have you installed a Custom Recovery?
4. Have you ensured you have read through guides before flashing? I ask this with only -*1*- posting it does not bode well!
