This just happened yesterday after I used the camera and went through the gallery for a little bit. My power button doesn't lock/turn off the screen anymore, unless the lock screen is the one displayed. It still does all of its other functions properly - just doesn't lock and turn off the screen when I press it if I'm in an app or on the home screen. Anyone have any idea what happened and how it can be fixed??
It's a pain right now to have to wait for the screen to automatically turn off, so any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
I don't have any suggestions for a fix, but if you can't figure anything out, there's a workaround. Get one of the widgets from the market that locks your screen... not the best solution but better than nothing.

I ended up resorting to flashing a ROM all over again.
If you have Spare Parts installed, its the reason... Go to Spare Parts/End button behavior and change it to "go to sleep"... i had the same issue today
And why is this in development?

Maybe you have installed an extended statusbar and deactivated lockscreen.
What firmware/rom are you guys using?
Hey
Which rom u using??
And try a factory reset..if that dont work then reflash the rom/firmware..
Plus check the settings for lockscreen...

I'm running stock 4.0.4 with notecore 14.1. I'm experiencing a wakelock called reset key guard. It doesn't lock the screen and turn it off automatically. So until I press the lock key the screen remains active. Any help on this please? This has started draining my battery. Please help.

ah okay.. in my case i wanted to turn it on (from stand-by) and it didn't react. or actually the screen was very low-lighted black. after i push the 2nd time the power button the screen is completely black and the 3rd time i press it it works fine. not that bad but sometimes really annoying
Same case with me many times and thats annoying

yes, but i'd like to know, where exactly this problem comes from? if it is a problem in the system couldn't there be developed any tweak or similar?
It is a bug in the software. It does wakeup the phone and i am able to enter my patern to unlock it but i cant see it. After i turn my screen off and back on again it works normal. This happens only after a very very long time of deepsleep. However my screen turns on when my alarm goes off at 7:30 am
so far I can confirm this is a bug on sony's stock rom, as I have tried MIUI & CM 10.1, and right now using CM 10.2, the problem doesn't arise. the screen unlocks perfectly normal.

yes that bug is still there, although it isn't that frequent so not a major problem, it can be annoying ...
goes away if hit the power button again to turn the screen off and again to turn it on to the lock screen.
hopefully it'll be fixed in the next update.
regards
True that!... I do face this some times.. the screen lights up but its black...
need to press the power button again so that it gets locked and wake it back to normal pressing the power button again...its annoying.!
Hey guys,
Does anyone no of anyway to disable the power button if the screen is locked. My wife recently had her phone stolen and it just got me thinking about the security of my phone. There seems to be plenty you can do to protect the actual working rom, apps and personal data, but with the screen locked there is nothing to stop a thief from just simply holding the power button down to turn off the phone, Or even getting into bootloader and factory resetting the device to wipe it clean and have a fresh unsecured working device. If there was some kind of app or mod to just prevent the phone from being tuned off at the security screen, then android device manager wont be disabled or wiped and nether would the eset security that I use. Or maybe even an app or mod to prevent getting to the bootloader or recovery to wipe the phone. I am on a rooted and s off'd device.
Any suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks for the reply mate, I will have a look into this and see what I can figure out

This mod is great, has function to disable power button on lockscreen. Doesn't stop the simulate battery pull if you hold the button down long enough though, but I guess that would be dangerous to do that. At least it is some security to the power button. Thanks for your help.
