Hey,
So, I'll try make this easy and simple, hahaha.
1.) Download Odin and any stock 2.3.6 rom from sammobile.com. Unzip the file, you should get a single .tar file. Also download a file called dbsdata.rfs.tar
2.) Turn the phone off and put the phone into download mode using the three button combo- Vol. Down, Home and Power.
3.) Connect the phone using USB. Odin should recognise your device- it should say in one of the little boxes up top "COM:ID" with a yellow box.
4.) Select the PDA option. Navigate to where the first .tar file is, the one you downloaded from sammobile.com. Select it. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE AFTER. Once you've got that, select Start.
5.) Now you'll end up in a bootloop. Don't panic here- its because of how the data in 4.x and 2.3.6 are set up. This is where dbsdata.rfs.tar comes in. Pull the battery and reinsert it. Go back into download mode.
6.) Again under the PDA option, select dbsdata.rfs.tar. Let it flash in.
Done! You should boot back up properly into GB 2.3.6
Hope I helped

Can you get it into download mode without it turning off? (Hold volume down + home button + power) Or recovery? (Hold volume up + home button + power?) Is it rooted with clockwork mode?

Maybe its a boot loop. Switch off your phone and check if download and recovery mode is available(see next paragraph).
If so follow the steps mentioned.
First of all download xxjw4 firmware for galaxy gt-I9000 from
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/150483619/708026d/I9000XXJW4_I9000OXAJW4_XEU.zip.html
1) Put your phone into Recovery mode (Vol up + Home + Power button) and perform a Wipe data/Factory reset, then a Wipe cache. When done pull the battery out for around ten seconds then re-insert.
(If recovery isn't working ignore this step)
2) Put the phone into Download mode (Vol down + Home + Power button)
3) Unzip the JW4 firmware folder you've downloaded to your Desktop.
4) Launch Odin and click on the button that says PDA and navigate to the PDA file you've just unzipped to your desktop and select it.
5) Connect your phone to your PC via USB. Odin will say Added and a box will turn yellow to indicate it has recognised your phone.
6) Click the start button in Odin and sit back and wait for Odin to flash your phone. When it's finished it will take a few minutes longer for the phone to reboot than is usual so please don't panic. The phone will reboot.
7) When the phone has rebooted, remove the USB cable and you now have the latest 2.3.6. It might be a good idea to repeat step 1 to make sure nothing of the old firmware is left behind.
And that's it, seven steps to 2.3.6 JW4 Value Pack and TouchWiz 4.
In case you want more info about flashing go to this site
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/galaxy-s-gets-official-value-pack-firmware-xxjw4-includes-touchwiz-4/
Enjoy
idon't have a recovery the phone isn't root and but i can get to the download mod !
still i tried what you said with the odin and it doesnt work
the phone wasn't root before and had a stock from the operator
If its a boot loop try this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=984140
If not download the files from sammobile (2.3.6 xxjw4) put the .tar file in the PDA and 512 pit file in the pit section make sure the repartition is ticked then if it still in a boot loop search for the cfs root and flash that then get the file off the thread I gave you then flash that to the phone as instructed on the thread then your phone should work edit* you need to put your phone into download mode before plugging in and flashing

yeah i know the basics ! but stil it doesnt work ! can it be a hardware problem? and if it right how can i fix it ?
Did you try that method? And when did it start turning off, did you try mpding it or did it just start doing it? Does it he a knock when it turns off or is it at the same place everytime? If it stays turned on in download mode its probably software related also make sure the drivers are installed using kies

Does Odin recognize your phone (com12 or something like that in yellow)
If not then try different USB port or also different cable and computer.
According to my experience if you are able to go to download mode then there is always a way to fix the problem
Hi,
I need to upgrade my Galaxy S.
Currently, I have this:
- Model number: GT-I9000
- Microsoftware version: 2.1-update1
- Bandwidth version: I9000BVJF3
- Kernel version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
- Version number: ECLAIR.BVJG2
Can you let me know how I can upgrade this ? How do I have to start ?
I have installed Samsung Kies and sync the phone with it. I expected to be able to do a firmware update thanks to Samsung Kies. But Samsung Kies doesn't seems to offer any firmware update !?
Can you give me links for dummies on how to flash my devices?
I dont know if it works fine when you are still on Eclair.
I've updated first my sgs to 2.3.6 with kies. You must open Kies in admin mod then it should works fine. If it doesnt you can backup with Kies, or rather kies restores it. Or you flash a firmware with odin. Unfortunately I dont know a guidance in english, but here in the forum there are certainly many of them.
If you are powerfull in german language, you can use this one: Here
It is for CM9, but it is the same approach for another custom rom.
If you want to stay stock (that's official firmware), then download samsung kies and just connect your phone to your pc using a USB cable. A message will pop up saying there is a new updade (Gingerbread 2.3.6). Back your phone up, then click install. Easy!
If you want to go for a custom rom, I suggest you download CyanogenMod 10 stable from CyanogenMod.org (once downloaded, don't try to unzip or extract the file, leave it zipped!) The ROM is based on android 4.1.2 Jellybean. It's a great ROM and also very stable. You will need to root your phone first though before installing it. But before you do anything, you will need to do a factory reset, and wipe your phones cache/partition first. Just turn your phone off and press and hold the power button + home key + volume up button (all 3 together). A menu will will pop up with the options to 'wipe cache/wipe partition' and perform a 'factory reset'. Use the volume up/down buttons to navigate, and the home button to select each one.
Once you have done a factory reset and wiped your phones cache/partition, you will need to find a root file for the specific firmware that is on your phone at the moment (look in Chainfires CF-root thread here on xda). After downloading the root file unzip/extract it. Next, download odin. Almost any version of odin should do, but try finding (again on xda) odin version 1.85 or 1.87. Once you have downloaded the root file and odin, open odin, then put your phone into download mode (press and hold the power button + the home key button + volume down button. A yellow android should appear. Then, connect your phone to your computer via the USB cable.
In the bottom left corner of odin, you should see the word ADDED! in a small box (providing you have the right drivers installed). This just means your phone is now connected to odin and ready to flash. To the right you will see a button called PDA, click on it and it should take you to your root file (provided you extracted/unzipped it). Double click on it, and it will automatically go in the PDA box in odin.
Above the PDA button, there is a 'start' button. Click that, and odin will do it's magic. After your phone has rebooted it should be rooted and ready to go. Next, close odin and take the USB lead out, then plug it back in. An autoplay box should open. Click on the option 'open folder to view files'. In the left pane, click on 'removable disk (G), and look for your external SD card folder. Click on it to open, and drag the zipped CyanogenMod 10 stable folder there, then turn off your phone. Wait until it is completely off and vibrates, then press and hold the power button + home button + volume UP button together. Your phone should boot into recovery mode.
Look for the option 'install zip from sdcard'. Again, use the volume up/down button to navigate, and the home key to select. After you have selected 'install zip from sdcard', there will be another option that says 'choose zip from sdcard'. Click that, and you should see a long list of folders. Toggle down to the 'external_sd' folder, and open it. The zipped CyanogenMod 10 stable folder should be there. Use the volume or up down button to select it, then hit the home key button. It will then install the ROM. When it's finished, just select 'reboot phone', and you are done!
Hello,
So I have a galaxy mini s5570i version and I tried to flash recovery on it. As i realized Odin can't seem to identify this version, I might be wrong tho, god hope so. So i tried to find another way of flashing it. I managed to get root on it (with an update.zip) but I couldn't find any cwm for it, so at last I tried my luck by putting the s5570 cwm 5.2.0.8 touch recovery on it via the original recovery.
Now the phone hangs on boot logo, I assume it can't find the system partition or something like that.
I'm still able to get into stock recovery and download mode.
What are my options?
Can I get custom recovery on it via odin or sd card or somehow?
Can I get back to original Android at least via sd and downloaded stock ROM and update that?
Thanks in advance
Your Phone is Probably soft bricked.
If your phone can go to odin mode, (Vol. Down + Home Button + Power Button) you are saved.

sir plz guide me my phone is stuke when i start mobile
Hi all,
Great forum by the way!
My phone is not rooted and it is running JB 4.3, kernel 3.4
As i mentioned in the title, I'm having trouble with the "Action Memo" and "Scrapbooker" apps.
Actually, they are not there to start with. When i open an "Air Command" menu, i can choose them, however, i couldn't find them in the app list.
When i choose "scrapbooker" from the "Air Command" menu, i can actually create something, but i can't conveniently find it later since there is no app/app icon in my list. When i choose the "Action memo" from "Air Command" menu, nothing happens.
I tried restoring the device while at the end the issue remained.
Q. What can I do to get the apps running without rooting the phone?
One more thing if i may, i read that there is a KK update available for the phone, however, (My guess) since i'm not on at&t i can't upgrade. Getting "No Updates Available" kind of notification.
Q. Is there a way to upgrade the os without rooting the phone?
Also, it is important to note that the phone is not used with at&t, it is actually being used overseas with local operator.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

9) You have successfully un-rooted your S3!
Credit goes to @SeyMedia for original aid, I just made this into a tutorial. Good Luck!:good:
root/recovery won't work that way for 4.4
as soon as you let the phone reboot into system after flashing custom recovery, it will get overwritten by original one; so after you turn the phone off and reboot manually then, don't be surprised to see stock recovery
After flashing custom recovery don't turn the phone on. Just return with 3combo to recovery and flash su. This is how worked for me
Regarding the rooting process:
- just untick F. Reset Time in Odin when you flash philz_touch_6.26.6-i9305.tar;
- when flashing is done, disconnect phone from pc and pull up the battery for a few seconds;
- put back the battery;
- enter in recovery mode (you will enter in Philz Touch);
- flash UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02.
This will do the trick!
