[Q] Xperia TL LTE loss of data - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

I commute about 30 miles to work from an area with "4G" HSPA+ to an area with 4G LTE, on the way home, going from LTE to HSPA+, my Xperia loses data connection for at close to 10 miles, in an area that should still have LTE. I've also noticed drops of data in areas of the city which are covered by LTE as well.
Problem is, I have to wait and turn the radio on/off for it to get a data connection again (by the time it connects on the way home I'm in an HSPA+ only zone). Do any other TL owners experience these data dead zones on LTE, where there should be something, even if it's HSPA+/EDGE, but the phone won't connect to it?
There also doesn't seem to be any way to disable LTE on the Xperia TL, or I would try that.

I have not experienced any data drops out of the ordinary low signal areas. I live in a rural area so these are expected. I have streamed NBA games while riding in a car with just these normal disruptions. You can disable LTE by flashing a Xperia T firmware and including the baseband. T doesn't support LTE.

You can disable it quite easily.
In your dialer type: *#*#4636#*#* (*#*# info#*#*)
Choose phone information, and there is an option to choose which radios you would like to use.

[Q] How to lock network mode to HSPA+ insdead of 3G?

As title, how do i do it in galaxy note?
hspa+ is 3G
HSPA bearers are assigned on demand. WHEN your data connection is idle it will show 3G, if in 3G service area. This is normal

Maybe the icon is misleading.
Because when the connection is idel, the icon shows 3G. When is busy, H+.
I just want my phone to stay on H+, because it takes 3-5 seconds to connect.
HTC phones have this stay alive option as i know.
I have this issue. The data on all my modern devices always worked MUCH better when it showed H as opposed to 3G. Why is this?
I can do this on my wife's Android phone, so I know it is an option. Hopefully the feature hasn't been removed on the Note - I will soon be moving from my trusty HTC Advantage (the first phone with a 5 inch screen) and always lock my phones to H+.
As far as I'm aware, H is faster than 3g. So that's why your internet will work faster when H is shown. Also the H signal is not available in all areas....at least it's not in the UK. If H is not available the 3g symbol will show. If 3g isn't available then G will show up, which is even slower. I've noticed H is only fully available in Towns or cities or surrounding nearby country side.
So you can't set it to always connect to H because it's not always available.

New York City has pretty good coverage if you're on AT&T and you haven't been flagged in some way by them. According to their coverage map on their website it's solid "faux" G all around my home.
According to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380284 there is a menu which is accessed by entering in *#9900# on the keypads. This menu gives you the option to disable fast dormancy, which according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111581 will change the timeout from H+ to 3G from 7 seconds to 30 seconds. Admittedly it's not the permanent lock to H+ that was originally requested, but from what I read it sounds like it is done as a battery saving preventative measure.

[Q] LTE connectivity problems

Anyone experiencing LTE connection problems? My zed seems to be "weaker" compared to an iPhone 5 when it comes to getting an LTE signal. Both phones are in the same location with the same data plan but only the iphone 5 getting the LTE signal. And whenever I set my network settings to LTE preferred/wcdma/gsm, the data drops but when I try to set it to wcdma only, my data connection is excellent. Is it possible that my LTE chip is busted? Are there any known fixes, software - wise?

Xperia Z (c6602) Bell H+/H Network Unstable

Hello guys!
Well, here is my issue for my Sony Xperia Z c6602 which is bought in Taiwan.
My mobile data is always on since I have 6GB of data, and I am with Bell Mobility at the moment.
Whenever I tried to use internet on my phone, the H+ just keep on switching to H and then back to H+ and sometimes the "up" and "down" arrows won't even show, which means signals are not being transfered.
(Basically when I try to load a web page sometimes, i will have to wait for like 2 mins to 3 mins when it actually only needs 2 seconds, but since the network is unstable, data are not being transfered)
Which leads to unstable H+/H network
My APN setting:
APN: pda.bell.ca
Please help!! Thank you...
Switching between h and h+ is normal. I wouldn't consider that as unstable. I had c6602 on fido and it switches between 3g and h+.
As for you loading for like 2-3 mins that is wrong or you just are at a really bad reception place.
Do some speed test with the speed test app in Google play. Average download speed should be around 3-9mbps down.
Check your apn settings again make sure you are using the most updated one. Google bells apn settings and find the correct and updated one.

Force HSPA+ instead of 4G?

Does anyone know how to force the note 4 to use HSPA+ instead of 4G?
The reason why i ask is because in areas where i cannot get 4GLTE the note 4 goes into 4G and its basically unusable (~1mbps maybe, most of the time i cannot even perform a speed test) eventhough the 4G is with 5 bars. In the same exact area HSPA+ gets very good speeds of 6mbp+
To test this, i forced 4G on my note 4 at my house and got a 1mbps speed test. Before upgrading to the note 4 from t-mobile i had an old note 2 from verizon running H+ getting 6mbps+ at my home.
Update: i really think the note 4 or the modem is causing the issue. Testing again my my house. When i first force the 4G connection the speed test are horrible. (< 1 mbps). After some time it seems idling in 4G it seems i got pushed into H+ reframed?(but still 4g icon) and getting consistance 6mbps.
I also noticed that the note 4 drops LTE to 4G at 2 bars or so when LTE speeds is definitely present and running at 20mbps
Hspa+ shows as 4g. If you go to other network settings where the apn is you can select lte, wcdma, options. In remote areas my 4g speed is better than my lte . The lingo is kinda weird so every carrier has different definitions of 4g. Hspa+ is technically 3.5g lol.
The app Advanced Signal Status let's you choose your network type.
Install it from play store and lock it to what you want. Try phone calls and SMS for the modes you try because some modes will be data only.
I noticed this today at home. I forced it to WCDMA mode only, it took like 10 mins for it to eventually show "4G" at my home office. The signal and download speed were terrible when forced into WCDMA hspa mode+ (4G) . In the same room and home my Note 3 would get a very good signal this time last year when I used the Note 3.
Perhaps T mobile has done something to the cell site here? Or The Note 4 isnt working as it should?
Ive had the same issue. So i work in one city and live in another. So when i get to work my data is slooooow. I force it to 4g and after a while back to lte. Speeds are fine. Same thing happens when i get home. Tmo told me to just restart my phone but that doesnt always work
Same situation with me. LTE tower doesn't reach my room but I got 10mbps in my living room....and my room I get less than 1mbps and goes to lte to 4g often with very slow speeds. I even have a LTE booster which doesn't really help much with speed. Without the lte booster I get almost 0 signal in my room
I used to have same problem during lte upgrade in my area. On lte around 8+ up and down while on 4g speds were 15-20 down and less than 2 up. Ping times were longer on 4g. After upgrade I no longer need to switch between lte and 4g

But is T Mobile removing their 4G HSPA wcdma towers? I used to get a very good db signal in my office, now -115db at best for 4G in same location but band 4 700Mhz is now present? Any relationship between these ...
See the below screen shot. On that menu you can pick the non LTE function and force H+. You can also switch back to LTE.

Thanks I had already figured out how to.force a specific data connection , hence why that thread I posted was asking what the default option is, since I didn't write it down.
But back on subject, 4G next to non existent now at home after 700mhz band 12 availability.

What is UMTS? I never get Hspa+
I've found that my data is ridiculously slow (I'm talking edge speeds) when I turn WiFi off, even when I am in an area that gets a strong LTE signal. I feel like my device does not automatically connect to the best available tower; rather, it seems to try to latch on to whatever tower it was connected to before I connected to WiFi. Toggling "mobile data" off then on again seems to reconnect my device to the closer/better tower and the speed improves drastically. (It's possible that toggling airplane mode or network modes will do the same thing). When you are in an area that has poor LTE, you might consider keeping it off. Change the selection from “LTE/WCDMA/GSM” to just “WCDMA/GSM” and you'll be on the slower HSPA+ network (though, I believe it still shows the 4G icon). You can always change it back when you are in a better area.
4G is back up and running in my home location. Must have been temp disabled when they rolled out 700mhz band 12 LTE in my area.

Signal

Does anyone have any suggested paths to get better reception out of this phone? It is so bad and sporadic constantly toggling between 2/3/4g, signal up and down, etc. I've tried multiple different firmwares

No idea. For me it's actually better than the note 3, s3 and s1.

Also better for me, coming from an HTC One S. Sorry...
Crack the back glass it will let more signal through

signal works fine for me too.
The signal's same or better than my Nexus 4 on 3G. I usually keep LTE turned off because that signal in my area is pretty weak and I'm usually using WiFi anyway. Plus, a weak LTE signal (or switching back and forth from 3G to 4G) is a battery drainer.
in my case, Z3C has weak signal reception than Z1C on CM11 :/ in my sister house i had weak but i had signal, i loose signal sometimes in pocket, but everywhere else outside of pocket signal was OK on the Z1C CM11 but on stock firmware Z3C there is no signal all the time i had to go outside home and search for network manually... i`m using only 2G mode to save battery
Did anyone notice in the settings (access point names), there is att phone and sony gprs. The sony gprs is selected by default and there is nothing in the settings (only mcc and mnc). When you select att phone, the phone doesn't work. Could this have something to do with it?

i think it's just with your phone since you're using it on ATT. try entering ATT's APN settings. I'm using it on tmobile and signal is fine and it only shows one APN for me. I don't have that sony one you're talking about.
