Today, a friend, called me to setup a new android phone for his wife. It was the cheap, very cheap, Alcatel Onetouch 908.
I transfered contacts, calendar events, configured emails and installed some apps from the market. The phone felt speedy, to be exact much more speedy than my Galaxy S and that started to bother me. What bothered me more was my friend, who has a Galaxy S II device. He told me out of the blue that alcatel felt speedier than his S II. I finished and 'take it for a walk'. I started sequently loading apps (browser, gmail, contants, market and talk) and then multitasked between them. The initial loading was almost immediate and, to my suprise, mutitasking was instant. My Galaxy felt like a second class device, my world shuttered... almost
I left my friend and I was angry, very angry. How could that be? I've tried numerous roms, customs and stock ones, with lagfixes enabled or disabled but, truth to be told, all of them felt like rubbish compared to an alcatel onet... I don't want to tell the evil's name!
Now, I am still angry but not with Alcatel,.. with Samsung! Am I wrong? What are your thoughts? Does anyone have an answer? Was just my imagination?
I don't suppose you have tried running 3D games on it?
knowledge is Power. Guard it well.
I did and it was fantastic... just kidding
No I didn't. But now you've said it, just for the laughs, next time I will be around, I'll try angry birds... if possible (although not a 3D game... I think)!
Ugliest thing ever seen on Internet
aaaaaaaaawwwwwwww, this is uglyyyyy, what an ugly phone, even if it had the speed of light, or even faster, the speed of thought or even much faster than those the speed of GOD, I would take the SGS anytime.
btw, try quadrant too, see if you get some noticable scores with it, if it's really worth your time, but if it was me, I wouldn't even set it up for a girl friend, let alone a friends girl.
well its the same story again u see a new android phone unused or if even used then used very very lightly(just calls, sms, have 10-25 apps. and all that) ! man any android pgone newly bought and used lightly can be very fast! i saw my friends galaxy ace on 2.2 bpught just 3 days ago and very lightly uaed and it was working like a lightning! if you want to see your phone this fast then flash stock jvs and you'll face lightning but as soon you get some apps in and start using it heavily youll start facing lags! download 100 apps. and do heavy multitasking on that alcatel for a week or so and youll start hating it and will throw it into a dustbin!

You should try CyanogenMod 7 (CM7) out of the box (no apps/games installed).
It's just fast - the speed is nearly amazing. Same thing with MIUI.
And just forget stock-ROMs. You won't want to use them after you have tried an AOSP-ROM (CM7 or MIUI).

Its not like that exactly but its very true both cm7 and minuit out of the box are amazing infraction I just installed 1.9.16 miui and it has just 7 apps. Installed and it's balzing fast ! But minuit has many problems of its own so I am moving back to Samsung based rom jetpack v5 spark very soon !

-I've tried CM7: it was fast but... it didn't felt home. So I dished it and went back to the samsung related rom's!
-Yes, SGS is prettier than 908 but really it's not so ugly. After all, my post was about speed, not beauty.
-So, if I load alcatel with 100+ apps I will feel the pain you say. We'll see... But if it's true then I will be angry again, very angry... with Google!
Memory Management
The thing about multitasking is that is related mainly with memory and memory management. I think it's true, if enough free memory exists any os will keep more tasks active and multitask between them will be instant...
But android keeps loading and unloading apps, in the background, which I almost never use but consume memory.
Skype is the perfect example. When i do not need it, I am signing off skype and go straight back to my home screen... Of course, as we all know, skype persists and never exits. It's just sits there consuming memory and doing nothing. If I try to kill it, android will happily and immediately reload it. The only way really kill it, is to uninstall it, but is this a solution?
One more example? The facebook app or the friencaster app. Even if I disable every automatic refresh or log off from facebook some part of them will keep running and like skype I cannot kill it.
The essence of all this is that: I own a phone with 512 mb of ram assisted with a powerful, 1 GHz, CPU, much - much more than an alcatel OT 908 and this doesn't show. Maybe is the 100+ apps I've installed in my phone, maybe is android, maybe is a bug, maybe it's me whining. Whatever is it... it's wrong and yes, I'm starting feeling angry, very angry with... Google and Samsung

Assuming your phone is rooted there are apps that can disable or prevent other apps from starting and running in the background- android optimize and autostarts seem to work for me.

Looking at the specs for the OneTouch, I am not surprised it is fast.
The 600mhz chip it is using is quite overpowered for what is effectively a featurephone. It is also supporting a much smaller, less advanced screen (256K colors, TFT) which frees up a LOT of cpu cycles for basic functions. This kind of speed while just being a phone is why feature phones aren't as dead as people keep assuming.
It is also running Froyo, which was made for this kind of phone and likely races on it, without having to worry about the sort of strains a Galaxy class smartphone puts on an OS.
Remember, if you install a slimmed down OS on a custom designed modern laptop, and ONLY install a handful of programs no doubt it will break speed records. However, to judge it against a fully loaded, professional install is like comparing apples and oranges.

alcatel ot 908 runs NFS shift, NOVA, Gangstar, BIA2, Sandstorm, Sims3, Rackless Racing, GuerillaBob, dead space....runs 99% hd games that don't requires armv7 or 2.3
it's way better then most off QVGA android and all msm7201 and msm7225.... (hvga and qvga)
for that money...
Well I have to say.
Just bought this second hand SGS to test and compare with my Desire HD.
If I can be honest. Both have the same clock freq and specs seems the same, but the DHD (lets call it that way) is alot faster than the SGS.
I am amazed how long it takes to just open the camera. On the DHD the camera app opens in half a second I think.
Then sometimes you click on something and nothing happens making you think that you didn't click anything at all. On the DHD opening anything is instant.
I'm running Darky 10.22 so if someone knows if I need to change something to make this a faster thing please let me know.
the only advantage of the desire hd and the alcatel ot 908 (i own one of these and a desire S, very similar to the hd hardware-wise) is that out-o-the-box, they're configured almost perfectly for their respective OS version and hardware.. Samsung makes some very tough and cutting-edge hardware, but they've always been lagging behind software-wise (and still are to some extent, i know what i'm talking about here too : my main device is a note2 N7100 and my dev/test device is my old -but almost unbreakable even when I'm the one who opens it up to solder or repair sthg in it- galaxy s2 i9100... None of those were left "stock", they're both fitted with CM10-derivated ROMs (most of the time a ParanoidAndroid or some derivate), heavily customized and "after-market" optimized (thanks to all the good tips&tweaks found here at XDA ^^) just to remedy those problems.. Never for my life would I leave one of these stock (I run a stock firmware on a dual-boot on the SGS2, but that's only for entering USSD codes, as these usually won't work on CM7/9/10 ROMs)... And yet, they're both way better when they're still "stock" than the Wave 1 was, with his powerful 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, but a puny 512Mb RAM -shared with the OS/CPU and GPU at that, leaving a mere 312Mb -give or take- to the poor user.. Far too low for its memory-hungry Bada OS,even in its latest and last 2.X versions.. I couldn't even open a second page in its Dolphin browser before it started shutting down background apps and closing widgets.. :s).

Dear HTC HD7 users,
I'm on the verge of buying another phone. I'm currently owning a Samsung Captivate. I've had this telephone for 9 months, but it is getting on my nerves. I have to reset my phone every 2 weeks and sometimes even each week. My power button is broken and my speaker doesn't work well. I'm getting sick of Android's lags and force closes on this phone.
I was very pleased to see WP 7.5 Mango and it's smoothness. I have some questions:
- Is WP7.5 really that stable and smooth on the HD7?
- How is the HD7 itself?
- Have you encountered any problems regarding the phone?
- Was WP7.5 much of an improvement compared to WP7.0?
- Is the HD7 S better than the HD7?
- People who own this phone 9+ months, are you still happy with it and haven't you experienced any issues so far?
- Finally: Could you please tell me why I should buy this phone instead of buying another Android phone?
Thanks for reading!

1. Yes stable and smooth, even faster after installing Mango (7.5)
2. HD7 looks nice and slim, though the hardware buttons can be improved (a bit flushed, not easy to press). Camera is just ok and not the best
3. No problems so far
4. Yes, WP7.5 is so much better, features and functionality wise (>500!).
5. I believe HD7s has better screen (SLCD vs LCD)
6. Yup, still very happy with the phone, esp now that it was updated to Mango.
7. Smooth, radical UI, live tiles, not laggy (unless u buy the latest high end droids), People hub (all contacts info taken from FB, LinkedIn and Windows Live and see updates per contact or everyone's social updates that u can switch between Twitter and FB feeds), Messaging (U can quickly switch between FB Chat, Windows Live and Texting for each contact on one conversation), Music Hub, X box live, 25Gig free SkyDrive, and not app-centric (as mentioned, mostly integrated so you dont need to open seperate apps to view diff contents). Cheap as well since this is a 1st gen model.
I suggest looking at HTC Titan in case you have more budget: better screen (competitive with super amoled+), has FFC, faster processor, slimmer and better build.
I've swapped over temporarily from the gs2 to see how windows phone 7 feels. Before that, I owned an iphone 4. (I'm trying to familiarize myself with the different phone platforms) The GS2 and IP4 were a true joy to use. I personally preferred the Gs2 for its "openess". One example that comes to mind is when I was looking for an ereader that could read my ebooks to me. On the IP4, this was only accomplished by turning on the accessibility option for blind users. Unfortunately, this also removed all the ease of use associated with IOS. The voice was also very robotic and was unbearable to listen to. On my android device I simply installed an ereader that used the built in tts service. It allowed me to control voice reading right from inside the app. Lastly i could just go to the market and find a replacement voice for the text to speech service. I really missed the high res screen from the iphone 4 though .
ANYWAY back on topic, I really, really, really like windows phone 7 operating system . The layout, dialer, keyboard, and apps just shine. Everything is easy to access and looks great too. However (and this is a BIG however), the os lacks apps. Its got a few gems but no where near as many as you might be used to. If you are looking for a phone that is a true joy to use for calling, texting, surfing the web, connecting on social sites, and maybe playing a few games then I think this is the OS for you.
But, I can't in good conscience recommend the HD7. Keep in mind that the 2nd generation windows phones are just around the corner. The HD7, I've found, has sub-par battery life and a poor camera. To give you an idea of battery life, your captivate supports up to 10 hours of talk time while this phone does 6.
Hopefully, this aids you in your decision making process.
Thanks for the replies, this has definitely gotten more interesting. I know the 2nd generation WP7.5 are around the corner, but I really want a HTC and I saw on phonearena that the hd7 was very high rated. The Titan looks amazing, but this would be my first time trying a Windows Phone and I if I don't like it, I would've paid too much money. Ive bought my captivate in March and it would be over the top to buy 2 new phones in a year, as in spending that much money on just a phone.
My captivate's battery life is horrible I even switched batteries and still I have to charge my phone twice a day,it is a real pain. I really don't care that much about a camera. I know the WP Marketplace hasn't got many apps yet,but I'm not a person who needs 100 apps on his phone. I know WP is a new kind of OS and I have patience with it.

It is a Good phone if you just wanna try out WP7
Other wise the main problem you will find is the battery life which wont last even 12 hours if you are a heavy user and its a heavy phone which you will notice if you use it for long periods
If you have used android you will love Wp7 as you can do almost all things faster in Wp7 then you did on android.
WP7 is the best for email and social apps
The good thing is that WP7 comes with almost most of your social apps (facebook twitter etc built in) and you will find most apps u need in market place (although its still a long way from android or IOS marketplace)
I kinda hover between the SGS2 and HD7 but use more SGS2 cause the battery dont last on the HD7 and I find google products more useful (maps, google plus, translate etc) then bing then WP7 offerings.
Probably might go for a Nokia WP7 next year as Dual core is touted for Wp7 next year and I really need a good camera phone like the SGS2.

Speed test on T-Mobile 3G using my HD7, tethered to my laptop via USB, on speedtest.net. Location was Seattle, WA, indoors but with 5 (max) bars. Multiple locations within about 200 miles were tested, each a few times:
Average download: ~5.0 Mbps (+/- 0.3 Mbps).
Average upload: 2.1 Mbps (+/- 0.2 Mbs).
It's not 4G, but it's a quite solid 3G. I can easily stream Zune Pass music or watch 480p (resolution of the phone, no point going higher) YouTube videos. In a pinch, it works fine for tethering too (slower download but actually faster upload than my home DSL).

Some of the HD videos look phenomenal on this phone.
I sent my Samsung Captivate for repair to the USA, after I received it, I'm going to buy the HD7 (I can get money for my captivate at Vodafone ) or the HTC Titan if I can find it cheap(not going to happen I think....)
Some points-
1. I had the hd7 for a year and I dont have a single complaint.(I was a Windows Mobile user, X1) and that says a lot about the OS.
2. Everything U did on Android, now will be 3x as fast.
3. like someone mentioned, the mails and office work happens in a blink
4. Music UI is mind blowing. It couldn't get better
5. Battery life, yes. This area needs a little work. But again, hey, its a smartphone and it's worth it. Charging it twice a day will be a ritual.
6. Don't even want to mention the camera. Its mediocre... :[
7. Social networking is beautifully integrated.
8. Screen resolution, yes, can't compare it with SAMOLEDs and AMOLEDs...u will be disappointed.
9. Live tiles rock. Buti have started to miss having the wallpapers in the background.
10. Dual cores, quad cores etc is all a myth. WP7 so smoothly without them, I don't know what will happen when we get 1
Currently, I am eyeing the Droid Razr...the Droid imagery is far too powerful for me to ignore it...but that doesn't mean I will ditch my WP7...
Now its upto U...wait foe the Nokia WP7...its amazing...front facing camera is a miss in HD7...
2 times a day battery life? On my battery thing it says
"last charge 1 day ago,"
"Time left on batter 1 day 3 hrs."
How is the battery so bad? Also I agree at first I didn't like it because of how closed it was but after playing with it for a while it does everything pretty easily and smoothly. I also like how slacker is able to be paused/skip through the lockscreen ...although ban/like and the artist picture would have been a nice addition.
So the resolution isn't that good ?
I just got mine today, second hand via Marktplaats.nl (dutch ebay), and i think the resolution is very good! its an upgrade from an htc wizard with a qvga screen, so yeah, but i like it. you can come take a look at it, depending on where you live
I bought my HD7 the first month it was available. This summer I picked up a Sensation 4g. Both are on TMOUS. I rooted and flashed dozens of custom roms to my Sensation.
My wife now uses my Sensation and I am happy to be using my HD7. I have flashed a custom rom onto it, but that wasn't necessary. I just like doing it. The phone runs super fast. I don't even miss my 4g. All that did was help me hit my soft data cap faster so I would be throttled.
If you're worried about battery life, pick up an Ankor 1350mah replacement. It bumped my battery life between 25-50%. The stock battery from HTC is crap.

This is an individual choice. JW4 is better battery life and stable, MIUI more functional.
You can say a lot of pluses and minuses in all firmware versions, the choice just for you.
Mintberry MIUI. nuff' said
JW4 comes from samsung and has that wonderful feature where your battery drains after charging to 100% while still plugged. Samsung says it's to protect you from overcharging and exploding batteries. I've never seen any other phone doing this and exploding but whatever. I don't like it as it as it prevents me from doing lots of stuff so I use MB MIUI that doesn't do this and remarkably manages to keep from exploding as well.
I really can't say anything from jw4's camera. I can speak about MB MIUI's however. Using glitch13.1 as kernel i have no problems with photos. I don't record video much but the few times i did i didn't notice any problems. I always record/shoot at top quality - if something's worth recording, it's worth recording as best as can be. I can always compress further later if needed.
Here's a pic i took today with miui's camera. Light conditions weren't the best and it was took in a hurry (it gets better if i take the time to do it) but i guess you can use it to get the idea:
Photo
I've been using the same rom a few months now, i can safely say i have no trouble with any "drainage" with miui. That used to happen a long time ago, latest GB versions have that corrected. To clarify, i have facebook, email (gmail pushing and default email client checking every 1h), manga watcher verifying for new episodes dropbox uploading automatically my photos, wireless and BT (connect to the car) always on and several other stuff going on. Battery easily lasts 1 or 2 days. The reason it doesn't is because i usually read A LOT with my phone. Having the screen on for about 4 or 5h a day drops the battery to 30 or 20%. That's not drainage, that's excess of use
I do not use mobile data, i keep it on 2G at all times.
I've replaced stock launcher for Go Launcher Ex. I recommend doing this, miui's stock launcher is very unorganized and i also get to use their brilliant Go widgets (facebook, calendar, etc)
Have around 590Mb In my data/data folder and the phone's still lightning fast (had to do the copy /datadata folder trick to prevent FC's when i reached around 570Mb)
Not sure if the new MB version has the bells and whistles of JW4 like face unlock, but seriously, apart from showing off to friends, who uses this anyway
you are very kind. thank you. I will download mintberry miui and in a couple of days let u know. pls tell me one more thing ( sorry for being a pain! ) HDMI don't work with miui ? Thx !

don't think sgs supports hdmi in any way but i think there was a thread a while ago about that. if you mean tvout, with their own RCA-like cable i'm not sure if it does. Think that was a samsung feature, if so, most likely no. cyanogen based roms don't usually carry samsung exclusive features.
I don't have any to test so i wouldn't know but try searching a bit around the forum, particularly in the MB MIUI thread. i'm sure someone asked that before.
thanks !

Updated to ICS using LG Update tool...now ready to bin my phone. Gee I was really stupid and just assumed that an official rom from LG would (a) work better than previous GB and (b) add new features rather than take away features. So far:
a) HDMI out not working
b) exchange active sync not working
c) no way to turn off camera shutter
d) LG UI laggy and slow
e) no real improvements in photo, video or music quality.
without the ability to sync to my work emails this phone is next to useless for me...
How has everyone's experience been? any of the above??
Being a newbie at flashing roms and the likeI assume I can get back to stock GB somehow ?
Yes it's awful extremely slow and buggy. Now since they have released it it might even be low priority to solve bugs....
You can revert to GB.
Use smart flash and a smart flash copy of the GB firmware.
Here you can find the stock firmwares V10 (froyo) V20(GB)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041
And here is how to flash it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008070
just put the file with AP in the name where it says AP and CP where it says CP.
Might need to try to flash a few times if it fails. Or do it with the battery inside after the software update mode have been activated.
Good Luck
No problems here
Yes it's pretty bad. I found GB to be bad too though.
It took the Devs here to do LG's job for them and make GB good and they will do the same for ICS too I am sure
Yes, you can go back to stock GB but you will need to do a bit of research, like how to use Nvflash and/or smartflash. There are guides around if you do some searching.
Disaster is a compliment. It's slow, laggy, buggy... It's amazing they took so long to ruin an OS.

I had the same opinions with stock ROMs on several other lower-midrange non-Nexus devices. HTC Sense was a performance killer on my old Desire Z and Touchwiz also made my friend's GS2 lag at times. On the newer superphones like the GS3 and HTC One X these skins don't cause any lag, but they don't deserve to exist on weaker models.
LG should have known better than to overlay that s**t on ICS with only 512 MB RAM... how hard is it to give us vanilla android? They did it for the T-Mobile G2X in the states (froyo).

I'm in your Opinion. I went to V30a because with CM10 i got often BSODs and on CM10 is a very high battery drain... But CM10 was much faster and smoother Hope the Problems in CM10 get fixed.

Devs have already made what is to be made from ICS. There isn't much more into it than what has already been done. Only thing that is being awaited now is official source codes so the developing of CM10 & CM10.1 truly can show its colors
I disagree.
It's not any worse than any of the GB ROMs. I don't really imagine, what you're doing with the device on a daily basis, except of testing absolutely all of the functions (e.g. HDMI out - I bet more than 50% of people never use it), and launching all apps or scrolling rapidly to just check "smoothness".
I'm pretty use we'll get the small things you mentioned fixed with custom ROMs based on this ICS release.

I'm pretty use we'll get the small things you mentioned fixed with custom ROMs based on this ICS release.

there you go... the fact that people have to resort to custom ROMs to get acceptable performance says a lot, right?
While I'd never use a stock ROM, I'd expect it to be smooth and responsive at the very least without bogging down from the smallest tasks like having 3 browser tabs open with music playing and whatsapp in the background.

As for me, the best stock ROM I ever had on this phone:
a) Don't have a solution here unfortunately...
b) Try Nitrodesk Touchdown app, works like a charm with a lot of additional useful functions than the built-in email app? PM if you need the app
c) Seems like silent mode can be a solution (though not practical to change mode everytime you want to use the camera)?
d) No such thing on my phone, fastest LG stock ROM ever on my phone.
e) I was already ok with the quality: it's a phone, not a camera. Photos it makes are not really good I agree (I regret my Xperia X10i for that!!), but I don't expect miracles from it. Maybe another app can do better, but I don't know any...
Finally, battery drain is very correct, much more than with GB for me (see pictures attached).
So I can't agree with you, this ICS stock ROM is much better than any other LG stock ROM. I come from DJ1.7.1 which is an excellent ROM, and still, I will keep using ICS, waiting for the developers' magic!
HDMI out is working btw...What are u talking about;
720p only but other than that works properly.
Have not tried HDMI yet.
It is waay faster then GB in all apps. Had reverted to V20Q before V30A (to check official update and there was not any in my locale). And honestly, GB was mighty slow compared to ICS. (And I found V20Q faster than 90% of ROMs here, Django - recommended to me as faster - looks hideous. Even if it was faster, I would not be able to use for it looked like something from 1999. And those animations, no matter if were faster to render, were waay too slow)
Stock GB also has terrible problem with screen tearing.
CM7 was fine, but was pretty much the same in terms of speed. (And I really do not overclock/ramhack my phone, for it decreases stability dramatically - after 50mins of calling at 13xxMHz, you fire up browser and it crashes for overheat...)
ICS (stock) on the other hand is faster than GB at stock speed.
And CM10 is faster than ICS (stock).
So there is that.
I mean, in stock ICS I still wait instant/1,5 secs for phone app to start. But it is better than GB - 3 secs. And it is worse than CM10 instant/0.6secs.
All that said, LG is terrible software maintainer, but P990 has only 512MB of RAM (with 128 MB alocated to GeForce ULV). Therefore I am not that suprised.
And do not use any memkillers or other stuff. Basically to do all this app provides, just set the limit for background apps. That said... if you are using e.g. Talk, SMS, Phone, Browser constantly plus some other apps (like InternetBanking app or GDrive, Maps) it might be better for your experience and battery to just let it as it is on default. It works better when they are in RAM.
Lovin' It - Stop complaining
I completly disagree - it may be a bit late but there is no reason to be pessimistic about it.
a) It does work - I just tested it on my TV. There is no options for it in the settings anymore though, but it runs at 1280x720 anyway. (I know 1080 was the highest)
b) I don't use it, so can't comment there.
c) Yes there is - I use Llama and my silent profile shut the shutter up. So its either notification or media volume.
d) No, its not. Maybe for the first minute of boot before you kill some programs, but other than that fastest UI so far, even though I still installed GO Launcher.
e) Haven't tested, but is 1080p recording in 30fps now? If not, this is from ICS changelog for O2X and other phones (LGSingapore):
adding bitrate video recording (720p only 7Mbps who first kept so 9Mbps, which first 1080p 16mbps 10mbps now), fixesbug camera (focus, time capture, white balance)

So it must be a bit better now.
If you really want to complain, here is the un-edited version of the predicted changelog from the Singapore comment, have fun:

gesture, plus a look underneath, and face unlock), quick memo (write on your screen wherever you want ), new gallery ics, new notification, task manager ics , 4

first kept so 9Mbps, which first 1080p 16mbps 10mbps now), fixesbug camera (focus, time capture, white balance), fixes a bug in the current battery standby, new
app called "home media" (a type of application for enjoying photos / videos / music, but only for optimus vu / lte / nitro hd), upgraded browser (no night mode
feature for battery saving), improved performance, better ram a management, look more simple (there are 2 color options menu, white and black ,or grey and brown),

tell about them all, it won’t be surprise anymore.

err..excuse me but I have been using the 'new features' of the ics rom for 24hrs now and I can verify that (1) HDMI is not working (whereas GB rom was working) and (2) ms active sync is not working and I have not been able to retrieve emails since installing ICS (and I was definitely getting them before ) .
I appreciate this may not be the same for everyone -
The point of this post was to share my experiences with the new rom and hopefully get some advice or solutions from others who may have been through the same problems ...isn't that what these forums are for ..
PS: flashed back to GB rom and all working ok again...obviously something about my phone and v30 that didnt get along !
ICS OFFICIAL ROM Runs very well for me. Smooth enough... and the battery life is very good.

Well ever tried the 4x hd? This thing Flys and lg did a really good job on it. Also the optimus g or nexus 4. They are all great devices.

Currently I have a Samsung S2 and I am looking at changing to 4x HD. I just want to find out some feedback about the battery life (for using the internet / screen) I know the phone has excellent talk time. How is the interface? What do you dislike about the phone?
Also, what is the camera like? Can it take the multi shots like the S3? Thx.
Battery- 3-4 hours net or heavy gameplay, 2 days standby.
Interface- Not good as HTC Sense or Touchwiz , but simple and easy the android way.
Camera- Camara not so good specially when zooming (it's ugly), multishot takeble but it is set to six at once, non-changable. HDR and Time catch shot, Voice shutter features included which are good. If you want multishot, you have to find other third party app.
Like- Cheap, good looking, quad core Tegra 3, Quick Memo, Time catch shot, Voice shutter etc.
Dislike- Locked Bootloader, Too much lags in games like shadowgun, nfs most wanted etc. and also in the interface like changing wallpaper in stock launcher and even lockscreen, Heats up within minutes on gameplay and interest usage, Screen and glass have too much distance within them, You will notice horizontal lines of the screen, No Jelly Bean and not sure about update date (lg gave about update, but as known lg isn't at update at all, take optimus 2x for example), No USB OTG, slow GPS lock, Camara not so good specially when zooming (it's ugly), Some good games an apps aren't available for this phone officially in play store even though they will run well enough and some apps on playstore dosen't work with our phone, Only 4 custom roms and none of them is perfect or even complete, Root don't work well as root apps crashes now an then and root stops working sometimes when phone is restarted, unupgradeable busybox (if you use stericsion installer, you will be stuck on bootloop on next restart) etc.
Your profit for switching to Optimus 4X HD- Many S2 accessories are compatible with 4X specially with USB ones.
My suggestion- HTC One X Plus (If you care about graphics more than battery life) or Samsung Galaxy S3 (if you want for regular usage with some cool features) or Nexus 4 (if you want graphics with classis, smooth android) or any other latest phones like Note 2, Optimus G. It's your choice.

Any question?
You said too much lags. In what way? Also, apparently the unlocked bootloader is coming with JB update.
