Basically I want to get smooth flash player working on my P990 and by looking at this old thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498458
Some guy says that he gets 720p smoothly over Flash Player with temasek's KANG ROM so the question is this:
I currently have a offical v20q rooted and installed CWM recovery, I downloaded the zip temasek's KANG ROM, so what now? Go to recovery and just flash? Or do I need to wipe format system or what?
Just tell me the few steps I'm missing do I need to do something in recovery before going to "install zip from SD card"?
PS: If somehow I don't like the temasek's KANG ROM, how do I revert back? Just make a backup of the current v20q and reflash the backup right?
I don't understand why you want to go CM7. It's old now. I personally never got smooth 720p on Temasek CM7. I recommend you to install stock based ICS ROM if you want to stay near stock or CM10 based ROM if you want AOSP feel. These ROMs should have even smoother Flash Player.

I would also recommend an oval stock rom. Like django manuchete or optithrust. They are fast stable and battery friendly.

I decided to try out the "DjangoManouche" ROM, because it's stock based as you say.
These are the steps:
1 - Go to this Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2020737
2 - Download the amazing AIO tool by Spyrosk and follow his guide to change partition layout from old to new (if you come from GB roms) and unlock bootloader
3 - Install 30 based CWM 5 or 6 (see OP)
4 - Install DjangoManouche
5 - Reboot After Install
6 - Enjoy
So if I got this right, I should go in the AIO tool and do option 4 first which is: " Change Partitions from OLD to NEW layout and vice versa",
then I should Install "30 based CWM 5 or 6", what a hell is that? I already have stock GB v20q rooted with CWM installed, what is a "30 based CWM 5 or 6 and where do I get it?
Thanks alot for your time, will +REP!

First, put the rom on external sd. Then, use option 4, you can automatically choose a CWM recovery which will be installed.

I've tested a lot and I liked Miuiv4 and other builds of miui. But wasn't happy with the battery life. Not happy about ICS. Then I found this review:
http://bit.ly/IeL9Hi
[ROM ICS]Tiramisu+ I.C.E. A.G.E. V.1.8 I'M DIFFERENT! [ANDROID 4.0.4][CNA 2.0.0]
This ROM is the best of all that I tested. Very simple to install and modify if your not happy about a kernel or modem or launcher or fonts etcetera.

You coming from which Rom ?
I wouldn't recommend you to use MIUIv4 roms right now, but that doesn't mean you can't. I tried WEUI 4.0.4, very unstable, bad battery life and it kept rebooting for some reason. I didn't like it that much, except the UI looks fantastic. Now running CM9 and I love it

Not stable...
I had installed several versions of MIUI's and I can tell you that they're not stable. At least from my experience.
My last rom is MIUI V4 ASNET. Quite good. Battery wise is just ok when 3G is off that is. Out of nowhere, it kept fc's on me. Then I rebooted the phone. It entered CWM and I wasn't able to boot the phone after that. It kept going into CWM. The only way was to reflash the rom.
Currently, just flashed stock JVU with cf-root and thinking about the next rom to try.
MIUI V4 is not stablest ICS but in MIUI v4s this one is best:

Give it a time. he's ROCK.

First change rom to 2.3 then flash the appropriate kernel.
I don't think it really makes a difference, just that one is slightly less risky than the other.

Kernel then rom, if it's rom 1st then you MIGHT have to reflash the rom anyway

No need for reflash of rom in any circumstances... point is entering flash mode to flash correct kernel is much more doable and likelier to succeed than entering a kernel embedded recovery to flash a rom.
Hence rom first, then kernel.

Hmm... Who to trust?
I'm curently on nAa ICS kernel and his MiniCM9, and want to get back to Achotjan Semc Debrand Engine 2.3 with nAa 11 kernel
From my experience there is no difference at all because the kernel you wanna flash has a recovery and gives you the option to flash your rom. For example when I wanted to revert back to stock without using seus I flashed the rom first and then the kernel because if I did otherwise my device would be softbricked. I hope I made my self clear. The choice is up to you. But I like flashing the kernel first;-)
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
Ok, so I tried now with kernel first -> that doesn't work, now I'm going to check with rom first
you cant build a house without foundation! flashing the kernel first is only proper way to do this!
1.put 2.3 Rom in SD
2.flash a kernel
3.on 1st boot(at kernel logo)push back button rapidly to enter cwm
4.make a full wipe and install 2.3 rom
5.done

Hi guys,
Well I'm a android user and I have a SE Arc S and I know quite a few things about flashing new roms, kernels, etc...
My girlfriend has a galaxy mini and she's complaning about the phone's performance. So I want to install a custom rom with a better performance but I know little about the "how to" in Samsung.
I've searched but I couldn't find any tutorial. Can someone post a link please?
Thanks
EDIT: Found the tutorials but in SE phone we have to unlock the bootloader, is it necessary on the Galaxy minis? Or is it just flashing through CWM recovery?!
Try here www.yagyagaire.blogspot.com I'm sure you'll find some info
If you have understood methods then Try flashing CM7 (or ROMs based on cm7) for best customizations or try Emanon v6 for touchwiz look and better stability....

How to install custom rom:
1st: the device must have OS Gingerbread 2.3.x
2nd: install CWM via Odin
3rd: install custom rom ( .zip file ) from CWM (recovery mode)
it's running 4.0.4
A few days ago I had 2.3.6 and updated to [ROM][ICS][IMM76L] CyanogenMod 9 RC (Build 2).
I made a backup before this, with CWM6. If I want to have my original android, 2.3.6, all I have to do is to restore that backup with CWM6?
Second question: I want to install [JB][ROM][CM10]SmoothieJB™ Smooth,Stable, Fast ϟ - v2 08.12.12. The instalation tutorial says this:
Installation
• Take a full backup ( be sure to do this )
• Wipe data and cache.
• Flash Smoothie-v2.zip.
• Flash Gapps.
• Fix Permissions
• Reboot.
• Most important step : Enjoy!

This is for Ginger only or for me too?
What "Fix Permissions" means? When I installed CM9, I didn't have to do that.
And something else: What is the best ROM for this

First Question - I don't know about this , but if you want to restore it , you need to full wipe first and then restore
Second Question - Just go the Advance panel at CWM and fix permission
Third Question - Try using CM9 by Acro or latest CM10 by Ivendor
I have CM9 by arco: [ROM][ICS][IMM76L] CyanogenMod 9 RC (Build 2)
CM10 by Ivendor is better for what I need?
For me CM9 is more stable than CM10 , but it's up to you , there many plenty ROM in the forum

Just restore it from backup with CWM6. You can do full wipe first if you want but I don't think it's necessary. The only thing I suggest you to do is do backup your existing CM9. From now you will have 2 backups: GB & CM9 just in case something goes wrong with restoring. I would not expect you to brick the phone with restoring the backup - I have done it 100 times already and nothing like this has never happened to me.
First question:
you should flash a gb rom first because on my old phone (galaxy ace) the stock samsung rom use another file system
and 3. question, i think cm10 is much smoother and more battery friendly than cm9 but just try yourself
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda premium
Re: 1st question - I tested this today on my own phone. If you want to restore either GB, ICS or JB you don't need to wipe anything and you don't need to instal any roms at first. All you need to do is restore backup. It is because recovery formats partitions and wipe all data before it restores from backup.
1st question: just restore the backup without Doping anything before
2nd one: the guide is for every Rom except smoothie JB then you have to only wipe cache and dalvik cache
Fix permissions is under advanced
3rd: if you want ics try cm by arco or biohazard and the castagnait kernel 7.5 extreme uv
And if you want JB try cm10 by ivendor or aokp Jb by crybert and the actual 2.6 diablo kernel
Hope i helped

Read this.
If you want a fast device then try Mackay ICS.
For gaming try CyanAOSP (Jelly Bean), CyanAOSP (KitKat).
For customizations try Cyanogenmod or Cyanogenmod based ROMS.
Also Omni is pretty good.

That's a good choice. To take advantage of the Semaphore's kernel features download Semaphore Manager from Play Store.
If you want to overclock your device choose 1.2 MHz and the ondemand Governor. Also for 400+ MB of RAM choose the s Semaphore version and also download the Bigmem libs.

Yes you can but not with Semaphore kernel. Mackay kernel supports up to 1.4 MHz.
Keep in mind that with clock speeds over 1.2 MHz you will experience a lot of crashes and reboots, your device will get hot etc.
Now i understood thanks!

You might lose your IMEI if you install 4.4 straight from stock. The right way is to install ICS first then JB and finally KK (or you can install KK straight from ICS).

Hi to all
After to try upgrade my GT-I9000 by KIES (realy bad choice) my phone crash and can't coming back in original without any issues.
I was going and in samsung service to setback but the problems are still there.
Boot freezings and random of sorry the android.process.media has stopped. acore, keybord etc.
I try to fix them first by cache or apps settings but no luck- i was try everything.
Next step for - i had a feeling my phone is not dead and i can't to use it like this - is try to fount a rom in all net.
To many rom's and installs clears with full format or not - with xp,7 or 8 - but all they have same problems (slim,paranoid,etc.). Full of Sorry's that service or other has stop and press the ok every sec.or rom apps crash down or freezings and next black screen or freezing and many reboot's auto.
2 weeks try and try again. It must to save my phone.
And yesterday i try another rom.
1. set (must have) the I9000XXJVU_I9000OXAJVU_OXA by ODIN 1.83 with repartition s1_odin_20100512.pit
1st reboot auto and freezing again (many auto reboots) but final open the phone in settings.I didn't stop so must see the next step
2. Set Kernel by Odin again CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS.
The phone reboot but boot over and over without go in. Again i didn't stop so i go in recovery (other way to take the install file) and mount usb (i can't go in phone) and take the ICS_4.0.3_MR1-RC4.2_I9000 rom in internal sd (no external sd and no sim in the phone).
3. Clear the data/factory, reset data cache and dalvic cache and install it (i can say the install it was slowest by the others rom's and more stady in the load bar).
No extra gapps files to install need.
The phone auto reboot and i wait with hope again.
Boom. The phone open in the setting without single problem.:victory:
The Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 is there all works perfect !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I save my phone and is realy fast because the phone have a realy good hardwear.
So the Final answer is the rom must fit in your phone
I hope to help i wish a nice day to all.
