No problem with 16g

Mine is 16G class 10, before flashing V30b can see them
after install v0.zip with CWM and reboot they always said
"Blank SD card or has unsupported file system". I've format
twice but still can't use them.
I use 32G Class 10, nothing wrong so for. I didn't do anything. I use IZS, came from Zeus v7.06. Only thing i did was wiping data when installing IZS, which deleted "android.secure".
Did you format the SD Card form the hidden menu? I had problem when i first bought the phone. I did it from the hidden menu since then i have no issues...
Format not success from hidden menu (the process com.android.phone has stopped.)
then I use SDFormatter on PC even normal format on mycomputer. Now I wonder
it cause from SD itself or from the ROM. I'll try to reflash with stock v30c SEA to see
what the cause. Thanks
Edit: I found that when boot to recovery CWM can read this 16g to update patch from zip file
but after reboot the phone can not see sd card again!

Hello everyone!
This might be a noob question, but I just couldn't find the solution to it. I recently got my hands on an Xperia X8, upgraded to 2.1 stock. After a week or so i stumbled upon this website and discovered all the custom ROM goodies. So yesterday I had some time to dive into the ocean of custom ROMs.
I rooted my phone, got xrecovery up and running, made a backup of my stock 2.1 and then installed GingerDX v004. I have to say it worked like a charm... until i found out that GingerDX says that there's no SD card in the device.
The odd thing is that xrecovery and the backup 2.1 system all see the SD card properly. In GingerDX's Storage menu all the SD card stuff is greyed out except Erase all data which doesn't work. Tapping it says all data erased, but when I hook it up with my computer, everything is there on the card.
I've tried the following without any improvement:
1. Restoring old 2.1 system - reads the SD card correctly
2. Full wipe, battery wipe, reinstalling GingerDX - no change
3. Formatting the SD card, putting it back in - no change
4. Rebooting GingerDX without SD card and putting it in while the system is up - no change
5. Rebooting with SD card, taking out the card while the system is on - no change - except for the fact that it states "SD card removed" in the notification bar. If I reinsert the card, the "SD card removed" message does not disappear, so basically nothing happens.
So could anyone give me an advice on what to do next? I'd like to take my chances before going out and buying a new card ...
Thank you in advance!
Maybe it's a bug in v004. Try installing v005. It's up now.

Thanks for the advice, but it doesn't work. Not even v005 sees my SD card
Maybe your card is corrupted.

That may be, although I find it strange that it works with my card reader (PC) and 2.1 also recognizes it. I'll try another custom ROM (FroyoBread maybe) and another card.
Until then I thank every bit of advice!
EDIT:
I've found another person with the exact same problem, which leads me to believe the problem is related to GingerDX
EDIT#2
I've just installed FroyoBread v23b and it handles my SD card like a charm. So the problem is related to GingerDX. I hope it doixanh manages to fix it soon.
SD card issue solved!
After many tries I've been able to solve my SD card mystery.
Looking back the solution is quite simple, it appears that Gingerbread doesn't like an SD card below Class 4. My card was Class 2.
So I went out and grabbed a Class 10 SD card and voila it works.

i guess its 4 and below, i have a 4gb c4 card and have the same problem... now i'm off to buy a new card...
Make a ext3 partition
SD Card
Had the same problem with GDX. Went back to Froyobread, and now it's MiniCM7, working like a charm. Maybe is GDX and SD Card class...
Maybe it's a bug (or feature) with sdhc cards that requires a certain speed to work. The stock 2GB sd card that came with the phone works fine..

I'm sorry to dig up an old thread, but i've EXACTLY the same problem.
The included 2 gigabyte sdcard and a sandisk class 4 8gb works, however my 4gig card isn't recognized properly (in v0017 my 2gig card isn't recognized too)
Tried every Gingerdx build, and LinuxDX v004 with the new sd card compatibility fix doesn't help.
I looked up with Logcat and it seems that the sdcard goes from "No media" -> "Pending" - and then it suddenly stops, no "idle-Unmounted", no "Checking" and no "Mounted".
The Recovery-systems (both, cwm 3 & 5) of the FXP Kernel has the same Problem, even the included sdcard aren't properly mounted (i can view files, but after i select one it says "Can't mount [Path]" and then the sdcard unmounted, or it is always ).
I have two X8s and the 4gig sdcard doesn't work on both with gingerdx 17, or fxp recovery.
But it looks like it's not gingerbread or CM7 related. Minicm2.0.7 works fine.
Maybe you had china no-name card. I've that and I've the same problem in gingerdx, ginger crutz and gingerxperia v10 (in v9 it's working fine) and CWM 4.0.1.5 recovery.
I have a same problem, 16G > 10Class sdcard(China), MiniCM7 work fine.
I'm sorry i'm having the same problem as well but my sd card is not chinese, are you sure this problem is due to SD card origin??? also where can you know which class your sd card is?
[SOLVED] SD card disappeared in GingerDX
I'm new here and english is not my mother tongue so forgive my errors...
I had the same problem and I had to uninstall GingerDx because without my SD-Card my whole life was a lie...
So... I installed the 023b (I think it's called like this, but I don't know) and I had the same f***ing problem...
What I did:
FIRST OF ALL!!! DO A BACKUP OF THE SD FILES ON YOUR COMPUTER!!!!
-Reboot phone in ClockworkMod
-mounts and storage
-format /sdcard
(BACK)
-Advanced
-Partition SD card
-ext4
-1024MB (1GB LOL)
-IDK but I pressed 256M [maybe you should leave a comment about wich size is better (0, 32, 64, 128 or 256)]
-wipe data/factory reset (try first to skip this)
-reboot system now
When you set up the phone it will say to format the SD. Accept and that's it!!
It's working!! (for the moment)
Thanks! If I said something wrong or you can help more with that problem comment please!!!
(Ai apologise four mai bad englix)
Hello everyone.
I am using the Cyanogen mod 7 on my Galaxy Ace. Everything was going fine, I used link to SD to make an Ext partition and linked/moved all apps to the SD card.
Today I went to sleep and rebooted the Galaxy cause it had been a long time since I powered it off. When I woke up, all the widgets were broken and I had some overlay saying "Safe mode" on the bottom. I rebooted and widgets kept broken.
I realized that ALL the apps on the SD were gone, so I suspected it was not mounted.
Now the problem is that I can't get the phone to read any SD card at all. New, old, formated...nothing.
Thanks in advance if you can help me.
Regards.

Goto CWM and format your card. If in CWM i doesn't work, use a PC to do so and do not connect it via USB. Use a card reader or something. What class SD card are you using?
Anything below class 4 with Link2SD is bound to get damaged. I lost a 4GB class 2 and another 8GB class 2 because of link2sd.:crying:
And while you're on cm7, use s2e, it's recommended over link2sd for CM7. :good:

I can't, it says unable to mount in the CWM. The card is class 4.
But the problem is not the card, because I can read it in PC. And I tried another card in the phone and can't read it too. So the problem is in the card reader/mount.

Flash to stock and check if the problem persists. If yes, then maybe your card slot is damaged.
Hi there i'm using a sumsung galaxy ace gt-s5830 running gingerbread 2.3.3. I've followed an Xda tutorial on how to partion my sd card but no matter how much I try the same error occurs and my phone reads the sd card as damged.
That happened to me also.
Follow these steps.
1. Fully format the sdcard. total wipe.
2. To partition use Cwm, it's the easiest method. Here's how to partition using cwm:
Reboot to CWM Recovery
Go to advanced
Select Partition Sd Card
Select in MB, how much you want to partition on sd card. 1024 mb is quite enough.
Select 0m for the next screen.
After it's done, Reboot
Now you've partitioned. and ur sd card is totally ok!
You can now go and use apps or scripts like amarullz, or apps 2 sd, link 2 sd and s2e.
Cheers,
M567.
thanks

I was using the SP2 by Topogigi and I've just flashed the "progmaq-default-cm-10-20121105" through NVflash. After that, my internal SD card cannot be detected anymore(broken?)!!! Subsequently I flashed "ROM_OptiICS-v0.4_LGP990_CWM-v6_v28G-based_NVflash" then flashed NVflash version of V20M, but the problem remains! Who can help?
or it's time to buy another phone? :crying: I've been using this phone for more than one year and I really don't want to change it if the problem is actually solvable.
flash another NVFlash rom like stefan goodbye rom v20.r..

Try to install your country specific stock rom from below link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041
It happened to me today. I just installed a stock rom and when the message of broken sdcard appeared, I just formatted the card. Everything on now.
had this problem as well. The Problem for me was that most NVFlash scripts used don't create a filesystem on the internal SD Card. Since the size of the internal SD card is changed when applying a new layout it is "broken"(read: unmountable) if you don't do anything about it.
Find out which memory block represents your Internal SD Card (on GB it was /dev/block/mmcblk0p9 but I'm not sure right now if its the same on ICS) open a terminal on the device or through adb shell and use
Code:
mkdosfs -F 32 /dev/block/mmcblk0pX
BEWARE: This will format your internal SD Card, all contents will be lost (which, when your cards file system is broken doesn't really matter I guess)
Thank all of you Finally I flashed Stefan's stock ics through NVflash and the internal SD card works again.
Hi, I'm having this issue with my I9000.
Any JB with different kernels makes the internal SD eventually be unmounted in my I9000.
When install a JB ROM the phone works very well but suddenly, the internal SD (phone's SD) is always unmounted with every reboot.
In CWM both SD are mounted and read without any problem. With ICS ROMs the phone works flawlessly.
In my case, the external SD is functioning as expected.(I have a 32 GB micro sd)
The installation language is Spahish - Spain.
No matter which method of cleaning and wiping I use, the result is the same.
Also, starting from GB stock firmware (JVU) flashed with Odin, followed by installing the nightly Cianogen CM10.1 and finally flashing the desired JB ROM works.
I tested Helly Bean, Slim Bean, C-ROM Mix and Baked Blacjbean7 obtaining the same behaviour.
USB Mounting does not "see" the internal SD. After many tries connecting and disconnecting of the PC, the internal SD is eventually mounted.
If I start the phone in "safe mode" (long pressing in menu reboot option), the internal SD is mounting.
Important: I'm restoring around 54 apk using Titanium backup (games, applications and utilities) in every case. I did not tested the ROMs without these restorations. ¿Could be an applications that is causing this issue?
I read some post with very similar situations but without any response.
¿Any idea on what is going on or a recommendation?
Thanks for helping and answering.
Being more precise, the internal storage that is not recognized is the USB storage, not the Internal Storage. Remember that the Galaxy S 8 Gb of internal SD is divided into Internal Storage and USB storage.
A quick way to test if your phone is reading USB storage is using any File Manager to see if SDCARD is opening.
AW: [Q] I9000 Internal SD unmounts when using JB ROMs
Can you please open /storage/sdcard0/ and tell if you have the same issues there? Because it could be a symlink problem.

Found something.
I have a 32 Gb external micro SD. If I turn on the phone without the micro SD in place, the USB storage mount OK.
I think that the JB ROMs o perhaps JB Kernels around cannot handle BIGs micro SD ¿a bug?, maybe.
I never have had problems with my micro SD even more, ICS ROMs flash and work OK with it installed.
Has someone a 32 Gb uSD to test?
Phone with 4Gb uSD works without problems.
32 Gb uSD is perfectly identified by a PC and no error is detected.
Phone with 32 Gb uSD shows the problem again....
Ok. The problem was a corrupted clockworkmod folder/files con the external SD. Reformating the SD solve the problem.
Thanks for your help.
Best Regards.
