unfortunately, I have a sprint galaxy tab with network lock, and I want use it in china`s network ,so I want know how to unlock it, thinks!
It's a CDMA device, so it can't be unlocked and moved with a new SIM card like GSM devices. You could possibly flash it to work on another CDMA network, but you would need the modem software that is specific to a individual network you want to put it on.
Flashing Sprint Samsung Tab
To Flash Veizon samsung Tab on any network is easier as its SPC is known.
For sprint Tab you must know the spc....either buy it or extract it from NV or just send the 16 digit password to phone in cdma workshop......Then its a piece of cake.

Do you know the NV for the SPC or how to get the 16 digit pass? Thanks for your help.
On a Sprint galaxy tab, just install terminal emulator and do this:
getprop ril.MSL
and your msl will be displayed. You can also do this on ADB, if you know how.
Sprint Samsung 16 Digits Password
Afaik all Sprint Samsung device use Samsung default 16 digits password

So what do you do w that number ? I read a post a guy claims he flashed his sprint tab over to Verizon and got prepaid data to work on his.that I'm interested in cause the Verizon speed is actually worth paying for .please point me or us in the right direction, thanx

I did this and got a blank response. Does this mean mine is already unlocked. I always thought that by rooting the device that all locks were turned off but maybe my assumption was wrong.

The getprop command is just to get the MSL code of the device. The MSL code will allow you to flash the device to another CDMA carrier, if that is what you are looking to do. Can you be more clear what you mean by unlocking? As far as I know, only GSM devices can be unlocked to accept GSM SIM cards from other networks. CDMA devices can be flashed to other CDMA networks if you know the MSL code.

I am trying to repurpose my tablet. Don't care about phone networks or using a SIM card. Just want to have full access to the device and I am hitting walls because I cannot update my system partition or boot partition without it bricking. I think it has to do with it being a locked device because I have seen messages from adb to that affect.

Can you explain in detail what you are trying to do with the tab? Inclusion of any messages on the device would help to solve your problem with the tab.

Currently I am trying to install Boot2Qt on my device. Since I cannot De-Android the device and install Ubuntu or any linux variant, I'll am trying to circumvent any Dalvik related processing. I have to go to work now but later on I'll try and provide any messages I am seeing. I have seen the command:
fastboot oem unlock
And that never works for my device. Might be a samsung nuance.

Hello,
a friend of mine has bought the Galaxy S3 LTE (I9305) has the following problem:
If the Netwok Mode is set on either GSM only or WCDMA only, everything works well.
On the other hand, if it is set on LTE/GSM/WCDMA (Auto mode) after a few seconds
the "Not registered on network" error appears.
The SIM card used does support LTE, could that be the source of the problem?
Also, my friend accidentaly tried to apply a i9300 CF-root and we restored it following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946915
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Got same problem here have no idea what it is.

I have bought a GT-I8190 (Unbranded/Unlocked) in Spain, which operates in 3G frequency band 900/1900/2100. The problem is that I live in Argentina, and here the 3G frequency is 850Hz. I would like to know if there is any hardware limitiation for the 3G frequency band or is just a firmware limitation. I've read that flashing a latinamerican modem (I8190L version) may solve the problem. Has anyone try this? What can I do?
Please let me know, cause i'm tired of dealing with EDGE.
Sorry for my english, i speak spanish.
Thank you!
I dont know about hardware differences, if there is any.
You could try to extract modem.bin from i8190L firmware and put it a .tar and flash with odin, but i'm not sure thats enough.
There's also a service menu if you type * # * # 1 9 7 3 2 8 6 4 0 # * # *
This is for SGS, but I think menus are quite similar.

I didn't find it either but I was thinking it might be there if you flash a modem for that frequency.

I don't think there is a chance of bricking it by changing modem. I've done it on my P7500 tab and my galaxy wonder without crying.
Question is if Odin will let it pass, and if so, maybe you'll also need to flash cache.img to get the "sec_csc.zip" for csc code and apn settings to be correct set in system. Not sure..
Edit: Seems like odin fails on modem.

I8190 Problem
Hey people,
Got the same problem here, did not see the difference between the I8190 and the I8190L and now I´m dealing with the problem of being connected only in EDGE, dou you guys already solved the problem???
If´s that so, please let us know.
Same problem here
I have excactly the same problem. Got a GT-I8190N, and here they use 850mhz :crying:
have searched every corner of the web, but havent found a solution. If anyone manages to make these things use 850mhz band PLEASE tell us how you did it.
Tried but failed
Fon anyone interested, i flashed GT-I8190N my phone using a GT-I8190L firmware for my country / operator, and i was still unable to use 3G internet. only Edge.
The phone worked fine in all other aspects (except the NFC feature was gone of course), but still no 3G. i guess the bands are not only determined by software, but also by hardware.
By now i guess its safe (for me) to say, i will have to learn to live with Edge, or get another phone. :crying:

Yes, actually that was the first thing i tried.
I downloaded the Whole firmware for the GT-I8190L for my local operator (MX Telcel), then i extracted the modem .bin file from it, and in odin i flashed it to the phone.
Phone worked fine, but still only edge.
So i decided to flash the whole firmware just in case, did so with odin, when my phone restarted i had the cheesy, bloated, horrible load animation my POS operator forces on all its phone, but still i was only able to use edge. no 3g.
Went to the phone service menu (if thats what its called?) dialing *#0011# then using the BACK menu option ->network -> etc. and still the 850mhz band option was missing. only got 900mhz (same as before).
At this point i was now stucked with the extra-extra-extra crappy logos and tons of crapware my provider installs on the phones, still without 3g, and all the NFC setting options dissapeared on the settings menu, but otherwise the phone was not bricked at all, it worked fine
So i downloaded this unbranded firmware:
Edit: (xda wont let me put the link, but its an unbranded firmware called I8190NXXAMD3_I8190NOXAAMD3_DBT)
wich is for the GT-I8190N version (not L), flashed it with odin, and now my phone is back to the way it was, i have my NFC settings back, got rid of ALL operator logos and bloatwares (now i only see the nice samsung animation on boot), and everything is working fine.
Except for 3G of course, im still stuck on EDGE.
Thanks alot for your answer. Now we know for sure it's based on hardware.

Does anyone know if there is a way of replacing the phone's internal antenna/modem to adequate it to the 850mhz network? It'd be cheaper than buying a new phone..
I have a LG G Flex model LG-D958. I have this weird problem with making or receiving phone call. If I set the network mode to only GSM mode, then I can make call out and receive incoming phone call. Other than this setting, example when set to GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto mode, I could only access the internet network in WCDMA or LTE or EDGE mode for DATA access BUT could not receive or make phone call. If I make a call out, it will cut off after several seconds. When I tried calling to my this mobile number from another phone, I could only hear the annouced voicecall telling me that it could not be reached at the moment. Then, when I set it back to GSM only mode..then making or receiving call is back to normal.
My ANdroid version is 4.4.2. Can someone advise me what I can do to get my Flex works again? Thank you

Yes, it is a new Sim card with GSM network that include 3G/4G network access.
THe software I see from the phone setting is D95820d-IND-XX; Android version is 4.4.2
appreciate your help..thanks
I'm not sure why you would have to change these radio settings at all. It should work right out of the box, except for your carriers specific APN settings.
Have you tried a factory reset? Start from scratch? Have you made any software changes?

Yes, it supposed to be.. I mean it works for everything except cannot make call if I set it to GSM/3G/4G auto mode. I have done a hard reset but the problem still persists. I was given this phone by my cousin and I am not sure whether any softwares was changed BUT I understand that the original Android version should be 4.2.2 - but now it is 4.4.2, do you think this could be the reason that is the cause of this weird problem?
Maybe it is good to totally unflash and reflash it back to its original software version. Can you guide me to doing this?
THank you
Or is there any way that i can run a diagnostic test from within the phone itself? Please advise too, thank you

I think a fresh start using the lg flash tool would be best.

To use volte in unreleased countries where Sony has not released the product, unlock and magisk must be used regardless of firmware.
There is no menu to use VOLTE, but you can force it by modifying the build prop. After that, you can open the Qualcomm Diagnostic Port (qpst, EFS Explorer) and replace the EFS file to use VOLTE.
Unlike xperia 1&5, the corresponding adb shell-su (setprop sys.usb.config rndis,eng_mode,adb) does not work on xperia 1 ii. I'm frustrated. Is the build prop USB item wrong? Does anyone know of a command to activate the Qualcomm Diagnostic Port? :crying:

Before trying to modify everything, find out what modem config file your phone is using for your service provider. Type *#*#service#*#* in the phone screen and choose service info. Then choose software info. It should list at the bottom what your current modem config file is.
You need this information in order for you to figure out what settings need to be changed.

Seems to me, IMS service is not running on any firmware customization, as modem config is always shown as: ROW_Commercial, even tried to modify modem.conf file, apns-conf.xml.
Not sure, is it a bug or something intentionally left buggy to let us busy and makes Xperia 1 II more interesting to be customized ::lol::

Which string was written in modem.conf (edit: before you changed it)?
@htcmage It was much easier to modify modem.conf on XZ1 than the 'Qualcomm Diagnostic Port (qpst, EFS Explorer)' way.
You have to find the schema like this:

Try to see if you can find the Dutch (T-Mobile) modem software (or firmware) and if you can flash it.
