Anyone else have Skype open 24/7?
Are you having random freezing of the UI? Either not being able to bring the user interface to the front resulting in a black screen or while selecting contact from contact list, resulting in a frozen screen at the contact list.
Do the freezes occur often?
Does it happen on WiFi or 3G or both?
Does it freeze while driving and switching between cell towers?
When it is frozen, can you still receive calls and IM's, but not able to answer the call nor view the IM?
All of the above happens to me.
I'm on Galaxy Tab P1000T.
It happened on the Stock Froyo, Stock Gingerbread and now on Overcome Gingerbread.
The freezing happens up to 8-10 times a day, seemingly random but more often when I am moving between 3G cell towers. It also happens while on my WiFi at home, but less often (maybe 1-2 times a day).
I have tried reboots, having no other running apps, having only stock apps and skype, running all apps or a multitude of combination of apps.... nothing changes the fact that the Skype UI freezes on multiple occasions each day.
Help?
Seeing exact same behavior on Samsung Infuse - happens on wifi and 3/4G
Check to see if there is a skype update. It didnt freeze on me but i dont have it on 24/7. If its the latest version consider reinstalling. If problem still persists report to skype could be an issue with connection drops.
i have a similar problem, i'm not using the official app i'm using the pirate version to make calls over 3g, i leave it open, seems to be alive for 1 hour but then kind of goes to dead mode(logs off), if i click it takes me back to the login and automatically re-logins
i try to keep it open all day long, but it fails constantly, i dont get freezes like you say..
and what version of skype are you using?
I'm using the latest update from what market tells me (1.0.0.983).
Today it had been logging me out randomly instead of freezing, and that is even worse as I look offline.
All the while the skype app works fine on the iphone4 laying here. Annoying.
I'll try uninstall and reinstall.
Anyone else? Ideas? Comments? Solutions?
Thanks.
Hello there
I am using ViperOne 1.2.1 and loving it so far. I am aware that when the device goes to sleep, Mobile Data goes to sleep as well (or is turned off, w.e you want to call it). When I wake the device up, I immediately go to Google Chrome to test if Data reconnected and it works fine. I then go to WhatsApp and unfortunately it's basically disconnected - I test by going to any chat and waiting for the "Last seen today @.." message on top; it also takes a long time to reconnect.. well, truthfully, it's not very long but it's about 1 - 2 minutes, it's just frustrating because I know my Mobile Data is working fine.
I have two questions:
1) I Googled and I came across an article saying that WhatsApp automatically tries to connect every five minutes, so is it possible to change that interval to something less? I couldn't find anything under settings.
2) Is there any chance that I keep Mobile Data connected even when the devices goes to sleep? I tried looking under settings and developer options but I couldn't find anything.
Thank you!
Whenever I use Apps like Facebook Messenger or Snapchat, my phone (SentinelRom 6.0, CM 11.0) doesn't notify me. No matter how much I check the settings, I can't find the options to turn notifications on.
Another issue is that I can't turn on 4G either. It can't find a 4G signal. Whereas normal 3G works just fine. Anyone experienced similar issues?
edit: doing some testing, it seems I do get notifications after immediately turning off screen now. Gonna try to test it after half an hour screen sleep.
edit 2: did more testing with screen shut down for an hour. Got notifications. Maybe it was because I had low battery that I didn't receive any notifications yesterday.
So my problem is that when using Wifi, my whatsapp messages are sent or received late. Sometimes it takes a minute before they send but other times it can be up to 10-15 minutes. Also when using Instagram, the first time I open it everything runs fine. But if I go back to it later, the feed doesn't refresh until Instagram says "Couldn't refresh feed", then hitting refresh again works.
The same when uploading images or video. The first time it fails, then it works the second time. I never use wifi now because the experience sucks. I sometimes have to sit and stare at the whatsapp screen, waiting for one tick to appear. I'm forced to kill both apps everytime if I want them to work. It's almost as if the connection to them stalls after a while.
Internet browsing is fine, Google+ loads fine as do Dropbox and a few other internet based apps
I'm having this issue with any WiFi network.
It could also be on ANY network...
But every time I'm on my 150Mbps WiFi, and I load up either Google Play, YouTube, or Instagram - it takes FOREVER to download pictures of apps, videos, etc, etc.
I feel like when I turn WiFi off, and try again, it loads perfectly.
I turn my WiFi back on, and it is extremely slow.
This is on any WiFi network.
It takes literally ages to load Google Play app images. It also takes minutes to download one app...
I looked it up, and someone had the same issue with S5. They turned Airplane mode ON, and then WiFi ON, and the speeds were fast again.
I tried this, and it worked!
I turn Airplane Mode OFF, with WiFi still on, and it is slow. It takes a minute to load one Instagram picture. Hmm.
App updates are now very fast. Picture load VERY quickly.
Any ideas on a permanent solution?
I think I had the same issue when on 5ghz wireless. I switched over to 2.4ghz and the issues went away.
