[Q] SD card still not working. - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Running Cm10 nightly ( January 27th).
S-On
Everything works like a beauty...
EXCEPT
I have gone through about 5 different processes to get my internal SD card to register but it won't.
My 32gb SDHC class 10 is working fine.
There is 3.81GB Total space registering under internal storage
Internal storage (area 2) only gives you the option to Mount SD card. I have tried mounting from settings and from CWM.
Give me any ideas to get it working again please!
It has removed the ability to use the stock camera and gallery apps as well as install swiftkey.
On a secondary note: Which kernal would be suggested to overclock Cm10?

Someone needs to talk to hansoon...
Clockworkmod screwed you up...
Switch to twrp...
Mount it via USB to windows and see if it can be formatted there

Yes clockwork mod should be removed from this forum it causes too many problems and we keep saying use twrp or wcx

I sent hansoon a PM yesterday

Booting in WCX
I booted to wcx and it still won't mount the / sd-ext
I am used to CWM on my touchpad is there any advice you have to fix this through WCX
And so far thank you very much! This is my daily driver and I had no choice but to go to a custom ROM and I am really not familiar with HTC rooting or WCX recovery.

It can be formatted by USB-MS booting through WCX.
Should it be formatted to Fat32?
And is there going to be anything major I have to re-install afterwards? All my roms and zips are located on the 32gb card.

Yes Fat32... and anything that's on the SD is going to be gone.. but there's nothing you can do at this point but format.

Thanks Homeslice!
It was running without it for a while anyways so no loss to data. All seems to work again!
I apparently was using WCX the whole time I just typed CWM. Clockwork works great on the galaxy and touchpad.

Most devices it does. Ours in unofficial and has had problems from the start

Uhh dude...
Sd-ext is the darktremor apps2sd partition...

[Q] Safe procedure to format internal SD

Hey guys.. I have flashed a few roms to my Raider now, but my internal SD is a mess - lots of old left-over install folders, leftover app bits..etc. When I'm in CWM Recovery, I found an option to format the internal SD card. My question is this: What will that wipe? Everything?? Does it wipe out my CWM and the installed ROM as well?? I'm scared to try it, bc I don't want to brick my phone. I'm not real familiar with pushing files to the SD card thru ADB (actually I just know its possible, no idea what the commands are) so I don't want to have to go that route, but I'd REALLY like to wipe my internal storage and clean it up.
Ideas?
I recommend going into your settings when your booted into android. So long as you have no apps installed to the I.internal sd card you are safe to format.

i would not use the CWM option to do that, it is a port and not fully supported and i know on some other devices (not sure about vivid) but that would soft brick the device
I always use the windows format and change the allocation size while I'm at it. Just backup what you need and copy it over when you are done. Since there are a lot of leftover bits I'd recommend not doing a quick format. The method in which you format probably doesn't matter but I like working from the computer when it comes to this stuff.

And formatting the *internal* storage from USB storage mode in Windows won't clear out my HoliRaider ROM? I just don't wanna brick my phone its running awesome now thanks to bananacakes.

No, the rom is installed on its own partition. I've formatted with no issues after I rooted and debloated my phone

[Q] Help! Nexus One semi bricked (SD card unavailable)

Hi, my Nexus One is semi-bricked! Pleaaase help!
It doesn't recognize the SD card anymore.
I was switching to another SD card.
The one I removed is a 16 GB with 1GB ext4 partition for DT A2SD.
I copied all the content of the FAT32 partition to the new one (16 GB as well), thinking that it was already formatted with 1GB ext4.
Actually it had only one FAT32 partition.
When I put the new one into the phone and booted to recovery, in order to restore sd-ext from nandroid, the phone wasn't able to see the sd card.
Recovery gives me the error "E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such file or directory)"
I already dug into forums and tried almost any solution proposed, including
* try another SD-card
* "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0"
* flash recovery (?)
* flash ROM (from adb)
* flash PASSIMG (from adb)
Nothing helped
When I tried "fastboot -w"
the message was something like "partitions erased but could not proceed with formatting since I can't recognize the partiotion type"
Phone now boots into CM 7.2.0 but, of course, no SD available.
Please help me! I know it's an old device, but glorious!
Beer money for solution, thanks!

So it won't read the new card?
Does the old card still work in it? If so then it sounds like the new one is borked.

both cards work in another phone and don't in N1
Make sure the N1 card slot is clean? Also are you putting the card in the right way round?
Sorry if these points sound dumb, but sometimes it's the simple things.

I have cleaned the sd-card (and later realized it doesn't depend on it), but not the slot.
The fact is that I don't know how to do. Really narrow there...
Any hint?

I can't believe!
Tried all kind of software stuff, and was only a matter of dust!
I was going to try my old 4GB card, and blew into the slot (already did before but this time I blew harder) and the N1 was back!
It told me it saw a strong light coming from the end of a tunnel.... :-D
Restored nandroid and have my configured good ol' nexus
Thanks cpm for suggesting the obvious, PM me your paypal number. I owe you a beer
Wow great result
No need to buy me a beer only happy to help. Or throw that beer money €/£/$ in the path of a charity if you wish, I'm sure there's plenty more deserving people out there than me
Anyhow happy you're sorted. Enjoy your Nexy.

[Q] For root enabled owners

HI Friends, i have a doubt in my mind.
Suppose i have already rooted my device and clockwork mode recovery is there.
Since i tried a lot of ROMs , my SD card is full of unnecessary files.
I want to format my SD card within phone setting.
After Formatting the SD card my clockwork mode recovery still be there and my device will be still in rooted.(This is what i want)
Please let me know.
Yes if you wipe your SD you will still be rooted with custom recovery. Same as if you take out your SD card, you are still rooted
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda app-developers app
Sure as said these things are in your ROM not on the SD card. Ever tryed to connect your phone to PC or maybe better take your SD card out and connect it to the PC directly to backup things first before reformating? I always store my nandroid backups and more there and than delete the oldest ones.

Yes, you will be rooted but ROM backups will be removed, if there is any.
Thanks to you guys for your quick response. Really this forum rocks...
Currently , i am using zeus 6.39, Now i am going to format and flash zeus 7.1 ROM.
I just updated to Zeus 6.4 on friday and will probably try 7.01 in a few days.
Zeus 7.01 is very nice and fluid but only thing I don't like is the dark color in messaging.

[Q] Possible SDCARD brick on my Optimus Black?

Hi,
I am having an issue that I'd hope you would be able to help me with. I flashed CyanogenMod10, and everything was doing fine, smooth performance, reboots with no problems, but then suddenly one day it went bricked. I restored through the SmartFlashTool Method, and got back to the stock Rom with everything working except for the SD card.
I have tried out various stock ROMs and none seemed to recognize the SD card, outputting a message of "SD card removed. Please insert a new one."; getting on to ADB when trying to mount the SDcard I get this message "mounting /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 on /sdcard failed: No such file or directory", and while trying to mount the SD card in CWM Recovery, it tells me "E: Can't mount sdcard", and when I try to mount USB storage through CWM, I get "E:Unable to write to ums lunfile(no such file or directory)", and when trying to mount /sdcard on CWM I get a "Error mounting /sdcard" message... I hope people at XDA would be able to help me since I have been lurking through the forums and internet without any good answer. :highfive:
I was able to mount the SD card through ClockWorkMod Recovery v5.0.2.6, but again, barely at random times when it works, and after installing a ROM those times, the phone usually works for one hour or two and then gets bricked again. I can not have access to another CWM version since I need an SD card to flash it. To install CWM I am using a patched .bin and .fls files in the SmartFlashTool method of unbricking. When the SD card gets recognized, I can even reboot the phone and still get the SD card to be recognized. The SD card problems don't happen until the random bricks after flashing a ROM. :fingers-crossed:
I have also tried using several functioning SD cards of different capacities formatted in NTFS, FAT32 and exFAT with no luck. I am also not willing to go back to stock since it is buggy and lags a lot compared to CM7, CM10 and every other custom rom I have tried. :crying:
Thank you for any help you could provide me, or if you have any answer for this problem,
Pablo Lujambio

Well, I know for sure it started to happen after a flashing to CM10, when after a simple reboot, the phone got bricked. :crying:
Any ideas on how to fix it or what is causing it?

Is exFat support missing in MM 6.0.1?

I cannot seem to find a consistent experience with users whether it's here (XDA) or other forums and whether or not exFat support exists with Marshmallow. Has anyone else come across similar issues?
I have 128gb sdcard formated in exfat and stock MM_tmobile SM-N910T...I can read the sdcard with no problem but I cannot write without using a program like office suite. You can still backup your rom on external sdcard using twrp.
Strange. I can definitely see it in TWRP but beside that, it says it's corrupted. Guess I'm off to experiment some more.
Edit: Card works on my GF's phone. It has the same exact modifications. Something must be wrong with the flashing of MM. Thanks for the indirect help gmenik6. I didn't even occur to me to try her phone until you said that, even though hindsight it was very obvious.
I got a 200gb SanDisk I use formatted to exfat no problems here reading it or writing to phone and it mounts fine when I use it on the pc.
Which card are you using and are you on a vanilla tw mm or a custom rom like cm13/aosp?

Jus re-flashed through Odin to clear out everything and to reset all paritions just to be safe. Booted up and SD is read. Flash TWRP and SU and still reads fine. I then let all my apps install, install BusyBox, Xposed Framework, XTouchWiz and Titanium Backup, I even restored a few apps through Titanium (from my SD Card). Phone sits over night and now this morning I cannot access my SD Card.
XTouchWiz doesn't seem to be working anymore and the damn TMobile App keeps trying to get root access. I can't freeze it either because TB unexpectedly quit's which I'm guessing is because it's a systemless root.
Thoughts while I troubleshoot/experiment?
Sounds like a faulty SD card, if you did all that and it's still not reading your card correctly.

I'll have to respectfully disagree on the basis that a separate FAT32 card does not read and my current exFat card is read in both my tablet and another Note 4 phone. Now could it be a faulty reader in the phone? That's what I plan to find out by flashing MM through Odin again and keeping it stock for a few days.
