Can't slide down notification from lock screen - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just got a Razr I and wondering if there's any way to allow to slide down the notification bar from the lock screen?
I thought this was the default with ICS but for some reason it doesn't work on my Razr I.
I have tried setting the lock screen option to 'Default' as well as 'None' but neither allow me to slide down the notification from the lock screen which I was used to doing on my previous phone.
Thanks.

I think i've worked it out!
As I haven't got my new Micro SIM card yet (waiting for Orange to post it to me as my previous phone was a standard size SIM) there's no SIM in the phone and it appears that this makes strange things happen.
If I put the phone on airplane mode then the lock screen settings work as expected ('None' = no lockscreen)
Also I can now slide down on the notification bar.

Take that back. Even though I'm still on flight mode and haven't changed anything the lock screen is showing when I turn on the screen!

Hmm, i dont know the answer to that. It is working flawlesly on mine.
But something other than that. If u want u can cut the normal sim to a microsim. Have done that with mine and it is working.

Thanks for that. I thought it was safer to ask orange to send me a new one which they do as a one off for free. Should arrive in post tomorrow and I'll see if things start working once it's in the phone!

Ah hope it does work!
Cutted my sim because i will change carrier in about a month. Didnt want to ask for a new sim when i would change carrier soon.

Right, final update I hope!
Got new micro SIM, been activated and is working.
Now the lock screen settings really are working as they should do and I can slide down the notification bar from the lock screen (when it's turned on)
Running Holo Locker now instead of the default lock screen as it's slightly more customizable and you can actually turn off the vibration when unlocking the phone.

[Q] Slide keyboard open to unlock?

The first thing i noticed from moving to the Droid 3 from my previous phone (Nokia N900), is that it doesn't unlock the screen when sliding the keyboard open.
So when i slide open my keyboard, i still have to do the 'slide to unlock' manually. This is not very natural to me, but if that's what Motorola decided, what can i do about it?
Is there some sort of tweak or mod possible for this, or is this something that cannot be changed? When i googled it, most topics are bout the Milestone series phones (this is the only qwerty android phone that behaves like this?). They suggested the software signal for 'slide keyboard open' is the same as 'press the screen on button', so if you want to disable the unlock menu here, it has to be disabled altogether.
Is this true?
I also come from a N900, I found the exact same thing frustrating, there is an app which disables lock-screens all together so you can also immediately unlock by pressing the power button.
App called "No Lock"
It does seem the case, yes, however there is an app which only turns lock screens off when the front proximity sensor is clear, so theoretically it shouldn't power button unlock when it is in your pocket - this is a paid app with a trial version.
App called "Auto Unlock"
If you're willing to pay for an app, check out widget locker on sale at Amazon. It has that option as well as some nifty extra features. I'm at the point now where my phone is more useful locked than unlocked lol

I don't think the keyboard opening sends the same signal as the power button.
When you press the power button the lock screen comes on in portrait regardless of how you are holding the phone. When you open the keyboard the lock screen comes on in landscape. So the phone knows the difference between the two.
BUMP
Is there any free app that will do this?
I'd like it to unlock when sliding open and to lock when i close it... but still be able to lock/unlock with the power button when I'm not using the keyboard
Thanks

I had an n900 too previously, but also an Xperia Mini pro and a desire Z, only the Motorola phones are showing that stupid behavior.
BTW as I wrote elsewhere, widgetlocker can fix this, but is not free.

yes, this.
I can't believe there's not a simple free app that fixes it. I don't mind spending €1,50 but I'd rather not
Can you keep the stock unlocker with widgetlocker?
how does widget locker fix this? i have it but dont see anyway to unlock the screen by opening the keyboard.

I just bought it and enabled "slide to unlock" but it doesn't work
I restarted my phone and it works 1 in 10 times.. and when it does work there's a 2 seconds delay..(edit make that 5 seconds this is with the screen off)
I even root mode and tried disable the default lock screen.
I think I just wasted €1.50
You must have some conflicting SW, I'm using it on the D3 and the D2g and works perfectly, used it on the Desire Z and worked perfectly too.
And consider that I have heavily customized it with 6 sliders to access directly the main functions w/o unlocking the phone.

I haven't installed any other locking software!
It works fine if I first click button so the screen goes on, then slide-out.
However when I slide from screen-off it takes 5 seconds for the screen to go on. (btw sometimes it does go instantly, but this is rare)
It takes a longer time only if you close and reopen it quickly.
Try to close the phone, wait five or six seconds and then open it.
That limit is described well on the SW instructions, and theres also a 5 seconds fix on the options (I havent tried it)

Yes but root option should fix it but it does not.
Why the hell would anyone use the slider option if it takes 5 seconds to show the screen? I wanted this program so that I don't have to press a button before unlocking... now I still have to do that
Waiting some time then opening it doesn't help

Why in the hell, in the normal usage, one would open the slider in less than 5 second after closing it ?

What? where did I say I did this?
When I get my phone out of my pocket (screen is off) and I open my keyboard, it takes 5 seconds for something to happen.

I said that. If you close and reopen the phone quickly you can expect a delay, but not in normal condition.
I've just tested it with the verizon rom (I flashed it back to test the cyanogen), and while slower than the xt883 (all the rom is slower) surely doesn't take 5 seconds to unlock the screen.

Touch screen problem
Hi,
Were you able to solve your problem?
Im having the exact same problem with a friends phone.
are you using a custom ROM by chance? More specifically, Cyanogen Mod 7 has a "tablet tweak" settings menu that allows you to use "dead zones" on the screen. If that's not the case I would check with your provider or place you purchased it from and see if they can help point you in the right direction.

The phone was on stock rom, chaned it to see if problem would go. Still same.
I live in Bolivia, so it will be a bit hard to get support.

Active Notification inconsistent

I don't know if others are having the same problem but I have a stock phone not rooted and active notifications enabled
Every time I place my phone upside down and then a few seconds later turn it over it will show the time..no problem...everytime
On the other hand if I leave my phone aside faced up ..after the screen goes black I would say 8 times out of 10 the clock shows up when I pick up the phone.. I'm assuming the sensors know that the phone has been picked up a d activate the clock display....sometimes the screen remains black even after picking it up and giving it a gentle or hard shake.....bug ?

I too am experiencing this especially when there are no notifications which seems like a waste to me.
Can you guys check your sensors? Maybe something's broken. I'm having sensor issues myself, and have noticed inconsistent notification behavior as well.

I don't turn my phone upside down. But just sitting there face up it it completely and randomly light up the notifications

Help all the sudden AOD in Landscape

Need some help from the group. I took my phone out of my pocket this afternoon and my AOD was all the sudden displaying in Landscape only. It is the big digital clock and has never done it before. I reboot phone, turned AOD off and back on and nothing worked. I locked the phone in both portrait and landscape orientations, tried rotating the phone while locked and nothing changes it back.
I could not find anything in the menus for this and I could not see anything that changed.
Any help to get it back to normal is appreciated.
