Has anyone ever seen an app called "10029" use data on their SGN before? I went to check my data usage the other day and found this unknown app (see screenshots 1 and 2). I tried googling it but found no other mention of it. It shows foreground and background data so supposedly I have actively used it but I obviously don't recall any such app. I've restricted the background data since I found it. Could it be malware? If so, how can I go about removing it?

On a slightly related note, I noticed "Android OS" (see screenshot 3) has been using a large amount of background data over the past few months (it got up to ~700 mb last month!). I've disabled Google back-up/restore settings as some other suggested, which is when the usage amount started to taper off, but it's still using several mb each day and I can't pinpoint what operations is using it since there's no options to show what process under "Android OS" are actively using data. Any suggestions how to identify the cause?
I woulnd trust that either.

Yes.Also on stock rom (see signature). I've disabled install from unknown sources too.
Then wipe (factory reset) and flash the rom of your likings again..
Perhaps it sounds a bit drastic, but i woulnd want an app with an unknown name running on my device.
Id start all over, just because it smells fishy.

Yea i was hoping to avoid that, at least until jb officially rolls out. Anyone else know what this may be or how to find out?
You should try to freeze it with Titanium Backup and check if the phone works well, then install Root Explorer, go to /system/app and look for an app called 10029 then simply remove it (delete).

Thanks but it obviously doesn't show up on TB or in /app under 10029, I would clearly remember installing something like that and would've looked for it first before posting here.
Get afwall and block the app from using Internet.
Or else wipe and restore your apps individually

this happened to me. I made one appear I think. I was tinkering with my phone, saw 2 of these unID'd apps. Then tinkerd with it, and then ther was a third one with "-0021."
I'm also searching for answers as I just found this random app names 10128 using data on wifi only. Also I have the android OS using massive amounts of data daily as well don't ever recall seeing that one before either. No options to delete remove it anywhere also dosent show under applications to even try and get rid of it. Someone help I know it must not be trusted as my S5 has been extremely slow lately everything freezing all the time can't even view my pictures. Getting extremely frustrating!!!

I just had a BSOD – freaked me out because I'm working on assignments at the moment and a dead PC would be disastrous.
I tried installing the debugging tool to read it but it tells me it couldn't locate the file path during installation – its sounding like its just not liking its own install exe...
I'm using Windows Vista, and I did go for the right version as far as I'm aware, so I'm not sure what's going on. I tried downloading it again etc, no luck. I'll probably spend as much time trying to sort out the debugging tool's issues as working out a solution for whatever caused the crash... so...
If someone who has the debugger installed is feeling like generating some positive karma for themselves by doing a quick read-over as to suspected problem I'd be immensely grateful (this doesn't do justice to how grateful I'd be...)

Use Windows 7 or XP.
Usually a normal restart works. Although, it might be a good idea to find out the reason for the BSOD.

Yeah, well aware of Vista's issues. Its been pretty much fine, until this BSOD.
Parents' PC is XP but not at home for a few weeks, and have assignments to do in that time, hence wanting to know if there's something I should be doing to stop a more catastrophic event...
Just one BSOD?
Wouldn't crap your pants over that to be honest..............
Have you installed something recently out of the ordinary?

Nope.
The reason I'm more concerned about this BSOD is that my graphic card has had a tendency to overheat if I play games and shuts itself off to prevent damamge, and even with simple things like word processing / net surfing it sits in the 70sC if I don't force the fan up to 60%.
Case cover is off to help - it started happening after coming back from holidays. Cleaned it out best I could but didn't help the overheat issue, so some mysterious thing happened to it while I was gone.
If it is the graphic card that's caused that BSOD then I need to seriously bring forward my plans to upgrade my PSU to get a newer card before it causes any significant dmage to other parts.
I was putting it off until holidays (in 3 weeks now, but been happening since Feb).
It's things like this that make me glad that I've stayed on xp for all these years. Have you tried a restore point? I think it could be your graphics card doing it when it shuts itself down.

I hadnt noticed it myself, I will have a look soon though
Same issue here..
Almost 200mb via 3G and 2GB on wifi.
It was done during the 1st week after flashing JB, it did the same after flashing another JB ver.
Hmm I never had this issue...1.5 GB for one month is a lot! Looking at the graph I think some app or data was downloaded in one instance (looking at the vertical leaps). And this was repeated at least 3 times within the month. Judging from the leap sizes the downloaded content was about 150-200 MB?
I am having this issue as well, the difference is that in my phone takes 8-10 megabytes per day. Using the better battery stats this is what I found
Do you have any idea what can I do?
Thanks

Same here. Every rom has crappy battery life with data on. A lot of wakeups. On wifi everything is ok. Probably a ril problem, maybe some devs will figure it out.

I don't have the high android OS usage anymore but i still have crappy battery life with 3G on. Last night i worked 3 hours, didn't use my phone and it went down 10% o.o. Every forum has the same answer: 3G is a batterysucker, but this wasn't the case with my Xperia Arc and my Nokia e71, those phones gave me a great batterylife on 3G. I really hope someone can find a solution for this, because now i can never make it through the day with 3G, while with wifi i can make it through two days.
I posted a thread on Original Development area. Please post ideas there. Thank you!

So I bought my new HTC One Saturday and I can't remember if it was like this the day I got it or not but the icon consistently shows a number beside it as though I have a new msg. Even after clearing my cache deleting all msg threads and rebooting the number has refused to disappear. No root or custom rooms yet so this is real stock. I'm beginning to wonder if this is something of a fluke or maybe something ATT put the to mess with my head. Could someone please provide some clarity about this.

Shouldn't show that if you have no messages. Do a factory reset if you're afraid to root, unlock, and use custom roms.

you serious? every time people have problems the solution is always to just factory reset or unlock and wipe and custom ROMS
@OP, select every thread in the messaging app and scroll up and down, that should clear any unread messages. if not then backup the messages and delete all the threads. also try sending a message to the phone and reading it

There could be a simple explanation for this
Is the phone set to store the sms on to the sim?
If it it remove all the sms on the sim and change the option to no sms on the sim
mssg app all mssgs, settings, text mssgs, manage sim card mssgs - it should read no mssgs on the sim card.
It was fine for day one using it with gear vr. I got over a day of battery then it when to under a day or less. My phone isnt rooted. Help me fix please. Here are some pic of my battery stats.

Without root your only other option is to factory reset the device.

Before anyone can be of much help, we will need to know what is causing the drain. Use an app called Waklock Detector to get 12 hours' of info, then post screenshots of those readings. That will tell you what is causing the drain.

Debloat your phone and get rid of all carrier iq. Cell standby keep on cause an app is causing it to drain. You may need a full wipe cause something hung up.

Sorry last time I accidentally put nfcwakelock but it's the nlpwakelock keeping my phone awake. It's not normal where it's a bunch of tiny ticks keeping it awake but a solid bar. I can't get it to go away until I reboot. Turning off location or killing Google play services doesn't stop the process.

Sometimes it's fine, I've had about 20hrs with no problems then bam, it kicks in and that's it until a reboot whereas other days it kick in after 30 mins. The problem is that unless you check your phone a lot you don't even know its happened.
It seems that the battery drain is minimal buts its still impactful for sure. Reminds a lot of the sensor_ind wakelock. Once it kicks it, only a reboot makes it go away.

This is what happens to me, had to reboot to save my battery. You can see the big chunk of awake time when the screen wasn't on is the wake lock keeping the phone awake.

Just noticed I'm having this as well the last few days
The only solution I found for now is to set the location mode into device only. That stops it using the mobile network for location but it might not suit you set up depending on what apps you use that require location.

For now I've blocked the wakelock permissions from play services for keep awake and wake up. This keeps the battery happy but results in lots of force closes in apps that use play services a lot.
