When is it coming ? Jan the 31st ....So today ?ok Not today but weeks later http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/01/3...oming-firmware-version-9-1-a-0-489-certified/ better late then never though I wouldn't expect never for such a new phone that would be just ridiculous
Just out of interest, when an FTF file becomes available, could you then flash it with flashtool on a stock ICS locked bootloader?
Judging by past firmware updates, it's taken 2/3 months for Orange to push an update.
Yes, or you could flash the 303 generic UK and ota to current. You'll then get jelly when Sony says not ee.

I wonder how I flashed my V with its locked bootloader to Xperia VL's firmware using Flashtool, then.
All you need is matching signatures, and all similar models share them.
Yes good news

Sorry but you've got that wrong, you can use flashtool to flash an official ftf onto a phone with a locked bootloader, I've done it loads of times with my xperia's. In essence if your locked to a network orange, t-mobile ect then you can get the region generic ftf and flash it with flashtool to debrand your phone
What you can't do is flash custom ROMs which require a custom kernel.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks for the responses guys, I thought it would be possible, the only reason I ask is that I've flashed ICS firmwares to the T in the past, but wasn't sure with it being a different version of the OS.

Please read before continuing to facepalm yourself.
Flashtool does not require your bootloader to be unlocked. It also does not even you require your phone ot be rooted.
Flashtool can be used on any xperia phone regardless. It does not require fastboot

Wait...we have a bootloader unlock for TL on ATT?
So this is 4.1? I got the update in sony bridge, but updating means I lose my root right? (locked bootloader)
Yes when you update to different firmware you will lost the root privilege

Not always, there are ways around it. But in general yes.
Once the new firmware hits users with locked bootloaders we will see if we lose root, but then we will also find a way to root the newfirmware or find a way to update that does not lose root.

I read that SUS refused to repair because stock apps were removed. So you should deactivate them instead of removing.

no, i think as long as it recognises official firmware (regardless of apps), it will reflash.

i think you need to unlock the bootloader to install custom roms, so technically if you keep the bootloader locked you'll always be able to repair.
Flashing a phone with a locked bootloader should always work as long as there are no extensive build.prop changes made.
Hey guys, i just rooted my phone and was looking forward to putting the new cyanogenmod rom on my phone, until i found out att has to ruin everything and wont let the bootloader be unlocked. I was looking around for a workaround and some places said it might be possible to do it in recovery mode with CWM..can anyone tell me if this is possible? Is it even possible to do with a locked bootloader? If anyone knows how to do this for the Xperia TL (lt30at) please let me know! Step by step would be great since im new to this. Thanks!!
No its not possible for now.

Unless you have a unlocked bootloader, you cant. Flash an Xperia T firmware to remove all that att bloatware
and If we ever had are bootloader unlocked, we can just flash CM10.1 and it will work.
Man everyone is so nice on here. But in response to that until AT&T allows it nothing that anyone can do about the bootloader. At least it's rooted and you can remove all the crap that was preloaded with the phone. With a few other extra perks of having a rooted phone, the stock OS isn't really all that bad.....

If I had a "Not For Sale" AT&T branded Sony Xperia TL and its bootloader is unlocked. Will this help anybody? I wonder how I could flash CM10.1 on it then.I have CWM 6.0.3.0 installed on it but technically that CWM is for 'locked bootloaders' even though my bootloader isn't locked.

is there chance to have -Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No - when my phone is from shop ? ( not from carrier, not branded)
I think that it's not the matter of branded/not branded etc. beacuse I've seen bootloader unlock allowed: yes after I rooted and installed CWM and TWRP; today I've reverted rooting via SPC and the bootloader unlock allowed is back on: no; so I think someone has to look through it to see if you can override it...

I doubt the Sony bootloader will be cracked any time soon as the Xperia T was never cracked and thats a much older device.
Unfortunately that means no custom kernels/CyanogenMod.
If you buy a factory unlocked device the bootloader will be unlockable/carrier branded devices may be locked and not unlock able.. Pretty simple really.
Sorry that I can't help much.
Un-lock Xpeia SP
If you Un-lock the Xperia SP for all Networks, does this make bootloader Unlock available?
If not, any Ideas why?

Nope. SIM-UNLOCK is separate to bootloader unlock.
It just doesn't.
On some old xperia phones you could open sim and bootloader like xperia arc if you used test point method to unlock sim it unlocked boot loader as well.
2013 xperia models that don't have removable battery are no longer able to use test point so you can't unlock boot loader or sim.
To unlock sim you need code which you cab buy from internet.
To unlock bootloader you need to contact your airtime provider and see if they will help in unlocking bootloader again this needs code but not freely available.

I have C6906 from Bell and i can't wait for bell to release 4.3
can i just flash unbranded 257 using flash tool
and use pc companion to update to 290?
my phone is not sim unlocked yet / never touched boot-loader / didn't even bother rooting it.
I am still on stock 534
thanks in advance guys
yes
As Greg already said - yes.
Branded version is same ROM but without a craps from your carrier.
So, not only you'll be able to flash it without any problems but you'll be very happy when you see that your phone is little bit faster and "cleaner".
Also, if you want to unlock SIM lock (if it's available on your device), you can do that by simple code order via Internet.

I've got the same phone from bell. First thing I did was flash an unbranded ROM. Bell has a few bloat apps that I hate. Best part is if you flash unbranded you don;t need to wait for updates. I got my update through PC Companion the day it was released.

I'm also on Bell with a c6906 and have done exactly what you are asking about and you will be fine. In case you didn't know we can't unlock our bootloader so the fix in 4.3 does not benefit us. Still 4.3 is a great update, loving the phone regardless.

Already unlocked my bootloader,
Sorry, I'm a rookie at android devices, where can I get a custom kernel
And what do i need to do after that?
EDIT: It seems we replied at the same time! haha.. nevermind what I said below then....
Also note that a lot of our Xperia T's bootloaders are NOT unlockable. There is a code you can dial on your phone to take you to a service menu where it will tell you if your bootloader is unlockable. If it says No, then your bootloader simply cannot be unlocked. Then you can join the many of us who patiently pray and wait for someone out there to crack or work around it
