Volume buttons not working - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all does anyone have any advice on my problem.
I cracked the digitizer on my i9000 shortly after cracking. the screen started to fade so while i could still see it i wiped the phone.
I was going to sell it but i brought a new screen assy in the end.
After fitting new screen (all went well) i rebooted phone all ok but my volume buttons now don't work.
Ive checked buttons are being pressed and are nor damaged but still no work.
Could it be a software problem or is it a hardware fault.
Its running gb 2.3.6 stock.
If it aint broke. Take it apart it soon will be ...

Diamond felt down ... total damage?

Hey,
Yesterday, as i was putting my phone back into my pocket i failed and it felt down on the street. So I picked it up, hoping my diamond could bear this, but the screen was black. I tried to restart it, but it didn`t worked. i tried to remove the battery and restart - nothing. The screen remains black. Although, it vibrates as usual when i press the power button, but the boot screen don't show off. I tried to connect it via USB to my Pc but no connetion. I don't think the screen is broken, because the backlight is still working, but no bootscreen or everything. I just got it back from repair 2 weeks ago, and till yesterday, everything worked juste fine. I don't know if everyone had already had such a problem or know what to do.
Repair again? I think you can't fix this problem by yourself.

Probably the internal Flex-cable is released. You must open the Diamond, removing the screws and see if the FLEX CABLE below SIM-CARD not this out. Look for a tutorial to learn how to disassemble the diamond. it's your risk. let me know if you need some help to do it.

Power button malfunction?

I know this is a known issue, but I think i got a rare case here.
I had some random issues in the start, before 2.2 came out, when the first
I started getting this issue after going over to 84B(?) and had used the N1 torch (high brightness) till the light started flickering, after that the button hasn't worked at all, EXCEPT inside the flashboot(?) menu, there the button works after about a minute.
Im still lucky enough to the point that the phone starts itself when i remove and insert the battery again (might this mean the power button is already "pushed" in?), also, i installed the trackball wake function just before the power button started malfunctioning so i havn't lost control of my phone just yet.
Does anyone have any tips to get the power button working again?
Get a swap from HTC.
I've done it with a broken power button and unlocked phone.
There's a little problem with that, since I the warranty goes away when you unlock, i took the liberty to open up the phone (removing the warranty sticker over one of the screws). I was happy I did it back then, because my power button started to work abit after that.
Also, I bought my N1 through a reseller on ebay, right after the phone was released, i also live in europe, so i think there will most likely be repair costs to get it fixed.
Has anyone done this before? Does anyone know how much these repairs cost?

Black Screen After An Ordeal...

The situation- Friend gave me his htc g1 which had a cracked lcd but was in full working order, got it repaired from a shop. Couple of weeks later whilst attempting to root the phone the screen died, opened it up and the flex cable was broken. Repaired it myself this time and once I did the backlight now worked but there was no picture. It plugs into the computer fine,I think I've factory reset it(it vibrated a second time after i held the keys). Any ideas on how I can fix the problem or what could be the problem? I have tried to unroot with a blank screen as well and so I have no idea what the status of the phone software wise is...Although I can hear sounds occasionally when I press the camera button or the volume buttons when the phone is on- It vibrates when it is turned on.
Kind regards, Nabeel
Is it bricked? IS there anythign I can try? Any help would be appreciated...
Bump =(...I am currently trying to drain the battery and then charging it overnight....This may take a while....
Battery was drained, charged it up using my computer and a min-usb cable, still nothing...Is it bricked...Any help would be nice...

[Q] menu and back keys stuck/not working

i accidentally dropped my galaxy mini in water but immediately took it out..removed the battery and all .. there wasnt any sign of water inside the battery compartment and the water damage spot is still white.
but noticed some drops around the three buttons on the front and i 'manhandled' the phone to get the water out..like hitting it against my palm ..
the keys were working alright after this episode but later in the evening the back key started having issues then power key also started malfunctioning like whenever pressed instead of locking the fone it would take a screen shot..and similar problems with all three keys.
currently my back button is not working (sometimes randomly it works for few mins then again stops).. menu key is also not funtioning and power key although is locking the phone but sometimes it goes back to screen capturing.
i wanted to know if this can be due to keys getting stuck or have i done some serious damage?
and also can there be some software issue about this?

[Q] Z1 power button problem

Hi
Iv had my Xperia x1 about a year now. The phone works fine. The only issues I've had are that the speaker grill on the bottom and the silver ring around the power button fell off. However these were not major problems for me as I don't use the waterproof features of the phone so I've left them as is.
However today my power button has been playing up. If I touch the button, without pressing it, the button acts as if it's been pressed and locks the phone. If I keep my finger on it the phone turns on. The button works fine while pressing it too and the phone is working perfectly fine aswell. It's just this touchscreen button issue. Iv Googled it and most power button problems for the z1 seem to be related to it not working etc however mine works fine.. It works too well actually.
I was thinking maybe the part is loose and needs replacing.
Would replacing the power button fix this and does anybody have any idea what's going on /what I should do?
Thanks
