This thread is for the development progress of the Dell Streak 7 running Jelly Bean Android 4.2.1 using Cyanogenmod 10.1 as the basis.
It is now being moved up a version, from Alpha 1.0 to Beta 1
This reverts us to the ICS-B4 partition layout. The reason being is that Dell decieded to be different and it causes problems with the sdcard fuse daemon. But switching to this layout, it allowed the sdcard daemon to work correctly and give us more space.
Developers:
DerArtem - CM10.1 Port
giveen - CM10 (10.1) Port / Kernel Updates
geramy - Various Tweaks and help with getting sound on CM10 working
DJ_Steve - Original Developer and teacher
Thanks:
Cyanogenmod team - for making the port actually pretty easy
geramy - for all your incredible help getting sound going.
snargledorf - basically rebuilding CM9 for the Dell Streak 7 , to which I was able to base my work off of.
DJ_Steve - for teaching me and all the tips and putting up with my annoying questions
My wife - giving me grace and putting up with the hours I put into this
(oops forgot a couple people)
_motley - for clues onto framebuffers and overlays failing, without him it would have never booted
Borkata - for help with wifi and other little hints.
pengus77 - for helping me fix wifi on CM10.1 (and invertly new changes on CM10 had the same problem)
Run the appropriate flashing .bat, start the device up all the way to the lockscreen.
Reboot to Recovery, go to Mount > Use Internal Storage > Install > your_Android_4.2.2_gapps.zip (go download the gapps for Android 4.2.2)

The first boot doesn't get the lock screen not even the setup then into TWRP, I had the wrong Gapps package and it didn't like it. Google's Gapps site was bonkers and couldn't download anything but found a file with my Nexus 10 stuff which worked. Now it's redownloading all my Nexus 10 apps on my DS7. Ah! The joys of owning more than one Android device.

Well this is what you say:
Run the appropriate flashing .exe or .sh, start the device up all the way to the lockscreen.
Reboot to Recovery, go to Mount > Use Internal Storage > Install > your_Android_4.2.1_gapps.zip (go download the gapps for Android 4.2.1)
Well, start the device the first time, I didn't get a lock screen, not sure what it was but not a lock sreen for sure. Do you really mean more than what you've stated? IIRC, I never get the lock screen on the first boot up but it's been some time though.
Keyboard input in ES File Explorer is real flakey, it closes after one keypress.
Weird. I must say its weird that you didn't get it right away.

I'm charging my streak to prepare for the flash
I'm going to give an inverted gapps package a go and will report back on its success.
JusTun Bean aroma installer version 6.2(for 4.2.1)
Has worked well on my GNex and og Evo running variants of cm10.1
Giveen,
I do think it would be wise to post a direct link to a confirmed working gapps package that you suggest. That way you limit bug reports to a standardized install.

flashed without a hitch, love to see that CM boot animation!
I did not go directly to the initial lockscreen, device started at home screen with the featured highlights of the launcher. i simply hit the power button to switch the screen off and then back on to see the lockscreen
i did attempt to use power button, reboot, recovery.... just rebooted system and back into CM.
I do not have an external SD card for the time being(micro card adapter is stuck in locked mode) si needed to copy a plethora of 4.2.1 mods to test out right to the internal storage. Including regular gapps, inverted gapps package, a "darker mod" which modifies the system framework to have backround be black instead of the typical gray you see (setting backround as an example) I've also got a 4 zip audio mod that adds some libs and stuff, works great on my Gnex... hopefull will do just fine here
just wanted to point out that MTP is not enabled by default. you need to open settings, storage, click on the 3 button menue icon, goto usb computer options, then select MTP in order for the computer to see the device and storage.
just finished copying files over, going to go back at this recovery stuff..... wish me luck!
(i will do one mod at a time to determine what's working and not, elliminate errors)
---------- Post added at 05:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:16 PM ----------
also wanted to point out
new to 4.2.1 is hidden "developer options" in settings
click "About Tablet" at the bottom of settings, then click repeatedly on the build number, i think it takes like 7 clicks? and you get a toeast telling you how many are left when you are close
this will unlock developer settings and performance settings in the main settings screen
that way you can enable usb debugging, screen stay awake, hold back button to kill..... change the transition speeds, all that jazz!
---------- Post added at 05:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:23 PM ----------
was able to power off device, volume+ and power to get to recovery options, selected update from update package, TWRP!
also notice you've got v2.4.1.0 going, most upto date
well played sir!
off to the gapps
<3
Yeah, I was actually done fixing wifi this morning, but recovery had to be fixed. Our old recovery.fstab didn't match up things, and then I was having a problem getting gapps to flash. Turned out I had to add more space in system partition and tell Android that it was there.
Hm...there may be a SoD bug.

DerArtem wasn't really working on the kernel yet. We were able to get all this done with very few kernel modifications.
Its still up to him if he is going to do a kernel port. I do know that right now he is really busy with work and will be traveling soon.
i can see and connect to my router, but it keeps having no internet. any solutions? and im using my wifi with laptop so i know i do have a live connection. lol

Without logs, it could be anything.
i tried the JusTun Bean inverted gapps package, seems to have worked just fine similar to how its worked on my other devices. I was letting play store restore my apps, but it was bogging down the system and fairly tedius, so i stopped that, copied over my TiTanium Backup folder from my Gnex and am restoring about 90 apps(app only, no data) and it's moving slow but steady. i'm letting it sit on the dock with stay awake so that it's holding good battery and plugging away at the restores.
i did try the audio mods i had that say they are for any 4.2.1 build, but they failed during install(error 7) maybe it had something to do with system already being mounted while i tried? will give it a go later on once i've gotten a good base with all my apps loaded and can make a twrp backup and then will mess with things from there
aside from some serious lag(granted, ive been running the thing hard!) it's damn good to see CM10.1 on the Streak!

Added a custom ringtone I made based on Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core (set as default)
Started to optimize some images in source
This build is based on the official AOKP build 31

Fixed devices not having MTP checked by default (for Galaxy Nexus amongst others)
Fixed battery bar showing incorrect battery percentages and not showing in the proper orientation

Changed back to stock framework animation speed as the faster ones weren't properly configured and made things "stutter"
Flashing instructions:
FLASH 5.6.890 SBF (for a TOTALLY clean install for those with paranoia)
1: Download the 5.6.890 SBF file HERE
2: Download RSDLite 5.5 HERE
3: Extract the contents of the SBF file to a folder on your computer
4: Install RSDLite
5: Boot the Droid 3 into bootloader by holding both Vol+ & Vol- at the same time when powering the phone on
6: Select "AP Fastboot" and press Vol+ to select it
7: Select the XML from the extracted SBF file in RSDLite
8: Connect the phone, and when it says "Connected", hit "Start"
9: Wait for the phone to finish flashing, and booting (it will reboot a couple times, leave it alone, its supposed to!)
ROOT STOCK ROM
10: Install and run Petes Motorola Root Tools. Download it HERE
11: Follow the instructions in the app to root your phone
INSTALL SAFESTRAP RECOVERY
12: Once rooted, install one of the following recoveries:
OFFICIAL BY HASHCODE: HERE
UNOFFICIAL BY RICK#2: HERE
13: Reboot your phone, and when prompted, hit MENU to enter SafeStrap Recovery.
BACKUP AND INSTALL NEW ROM
14: MAKE SURE TO MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE DOING ANYTHING! (just a precaution)
15: Go to "install zip from sdcard", then "choose zip from internal sdcard", then select my ROM's zip file
16: After it installs, back out and reboot the phone
17: YOU HAVE DONE IT! CONGRATS ON YOU NEW STEEL DROID INSTALL!
I would suggest using the latest 1.0.8e release of Rick#2's tweaked Safestrap. It has a lot of safeguards built in that could really save you a bunch of time in flashing and/or testing, and I personally like his menu layout and design. But of course, you still have all the functionality of Hashcodes Safestrap still in place.
Give the ROM time to boot. The first boot took me almost 5 minutes! If your phone doesn't boot in 15 minutes, pull the battery and try again. If it still doesn't boot, you need to go back and start over with my instructions at the beginning!
ALSO: Please be sure to check out the free tethering hack! I use it regularly, and it DOES work. Quite well I might add. Details HERE

Here are my thanks for this build, in no particular order:
AOKP (for their awesome ICS source!)

Motorola! (kickass phone!)

and a few more...
Wow I was actually just about to go back to 4.5 but as soon as I refreshed the page, this popped up! Will give this a try and post back!
EDIT: I'm on GSM and couldn't get it to work even with making changes to build.prop (exact same changes if you've done it with other ICS ROMs). I was getting FC when trying to make phone calls and cannot receive phone calls. If any other GSM user can get it to work, could you post your steps?
tits yes!
does the keyboard back light and rotation and such work?

FYI
i checked all of the ics rom's on that forum (on my XT860 GMS), i put all the patches, and the modification for the build.prop
none of them the data connection functioning (wifi or cell)
Do you plan on theming more in future versions?
Does HDMI out work?
Nice to see another ics rom and the detail in op are great. Thanks. I will most definitely flash when there is a build that has a few more fixes.

Few questions
Ok, I read the FAQ on the AOKP site, but I couldn't find these answers anywhere...
First, how do we get to "recent apps" or the task switcher? Long press on home button doesn't work.
Second, in the AOKP Rom settings, I can't seem to select a correct color for my LED. I pick a green, or red, or orange, but when I get a notification, it pushes all colors out.
Other than these issues, this build has been great. One wish list item though is to remove security for the corporate email, it's one of my biggest pet peaves.
At pershoots request, here is the official nightly discussion thread. I will be updating this with information that I find and users posts that are helpful. REMEMBER: THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS SO ALWAYS READ THE THREE POST FOR UPDATED INFORMATION

Known Issues (copied from droidbasement):
-A random flicker (it’s faint and fast) can be observed occasionally/infrequently. If this becomes a nuisance to you, you can try to alleviate this by selecting ‘Disable HW overlays’ in Developer Settings. This does not survive a reboot (must be selected on every boot) and impacts swiping motion (it slows it down) in Trebuchet (the Launcher).
-P4*: A 720P recording, when played back, will have artifacts in the upper section of the image. Also when launching the recorded video for the first time, you will encounter a bit of a delay before it launches.
-P4*:If you use the standard GAPPS (from goo), the keyboard will close if typed on for 2 or 3 letters quickly in succession, if you use Google Search, Messaging and/or Gtalk (there could be more). This is a GAPPS library issue. Install a third party keyboard (Swiftkey 3 works ok) and switch to it. This does not affect Browser, System, etc (stock KB works fine there). The GAPPS from wingray don’t appear to exhibit this behavior from brief feedback (make sure your system is cleaned out using the latest recovery (format system), prior to installing the rom and gapps if you had the set from goo installed prior (it has also been reported that data needed to be wiped as well to rid of the residuals)): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35825009&postcount=3553

READ ME:
#If using 4.2.2 and want to roll back to 4.2.1 (last build is Feb 13th), you will need to do a full wipe to move backwards or you will bootloop. (update 02/19/13)
#PSA from CyanogenMod team: https://plus.google.com/+CyanogenMod/posts/M2pVM7Y6MTq (update 02/19/13)
ADB Whitelist
As of the Android 4.2.2 update, when you connect your phone to a computer, you are presented with your computer's RSA key fingerprint to open the adb connection. You also have the ability to permanently trust the computer, so you don't have to repeat this step upon every re-connect.
In order for this to work, you must be on the latest SDK which will grant you an updated 'adb' binary.
We will not be introducing any functionality to sidestep this default security, so if you don't update, you will lose the ability to access the device using adb.
# CM 10.1 is based on Android 4.2.1. Any and all proprietary applications that you have installed outside of CM should be updated to their 4.2.1 counterparts. Do not use the 4.1 versions of proprietary applications, else you will experience difficulties.
# Do not use the CyanogenMod Updater to go from 10.0 to 10.1. While you will have a functional rom, due to the 1st bullet point, you will be left without your proprietary applications and their data. We highly suggest performing the initial install manually via recovery (flashing CM and your addons). Once you are on 10.1, you can use the CM Updater as per normal.
# You do not need to wipe when updating to 10.1 if coming from an earlier CM version. However, as we mentioned in the weekend's PSA, users updating (instead of wiping) will experience a conflict in the application data for the Clock app. You are advised to clear this apps data on first boot of 10.1.
# Another item to note is that the support for the 10.0 feature that allowed for an expanded number of targets on the pattern lockscreen is not in 10.1. If you use this lockscreen, disable it before updating from 10.0.
# Finally, we always advise that you create a backup before any update. Do note, however, that due to Android 4.2 changes to support multi-user mode, your backups will automatically be transferred to /sdcard/0/[backup folder]. Remember this when attempting to restore 10.0. Credit to post from CyanogenMOD team (G+ https://plus.google.com/+CyanogenMod/posts/9X561GFMxL5)
Coming from Samsung ICS ROM (custom or not) requires a FULL WIPE (Wipe Data, Cache, and Dalvik Cache) If you do not WIPE you will get a bootloop.
From droidbasement:
GT-P7500 (p4), GT-P7510 (p4wifi), SCH-I905 (p4vzw) and SGH-T859 (p4tmo)
-For P4VZW: You must be on stock ICS (and it’s modem) before flashing to this build, for LTE functionality
-For P4WIFI UK: You must be on the US ICS bootloader (odin .tar.md5 inside the .zip in the folder), otherwise you may incur a rolling screen
-For P4: You must be on the UK ICS bootloader (odin .tar.md5 from AUS inside the folder), otherwise you may incur a rolling screen.
-For P4*: You must be on the ICS modem for best results.
BEFORE REPORTING ANY BUGS, PLEASE DO A FULL WIPE AND FLASH AGAIN TO VERIFY THE BUG! ALSO, NOTHING WILL GET FIXED WITHOUT A LOGCAT (we cannot debug xda posts, need a logcat)
Getting a logcat:
1) Make sure ADB is installed (http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html)
2) Open Command Prompt
3) adb logcat -d > logcat.txt
4) Locate the logcat and upload to xda
Install Instructions: IMPORTANT TO SEE READ ME IN POST #2 It will save you a lot of headaches when upgrading or updating your Tablet.
1) Install the latest CWM (see 1st post for more info)
2) Install ICS bootloaders (1st post) *People who flashed an ICS custom ROM coming from HoneyComb (3.1) do not have the correct bootloaders.
3) Boot into CWM and flash CM10.1 (Please see READ ME in post #2 for more information)
4) Flash gapps-jb-20130120-P75xx.zip (see 1st post for download)

Want Adobe Flash on your Jellybean Tab? (update 05/21/13) New version is (11.1.115.58)
Check out the latest download here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html Scroll to Flash Player for Android 4.0 archives and download most current (11.1.115.58). *Note: Flash is not supported in Jelly Bean, no support given in this thread as well.
Need Developer options and Performance tabs?
Go to settings>About tablet and start tapping Build number until it says your a Dev.
I am getting sudden reboots or freezes?
Not all tablets are created equal, if you are experiencing sudden reboots after Overclocking, reset your options back to default.
I am still rebooting or freezing?
Do a full wipe and DO NOT install anything. If the tablet is not rebooting or freezing, install your apps one at a time to isolate the cause. If you are using Titanium Backup, DO NOT RESTORE DATA FOR SYSTEM APPS.
I get Force Closes (FC) when I launch ____ app?
Try clearing data for the application by going Settings>Apps and locate the app and select Clear Data.
How can I increase Launcher performance?
Enable wallpaper hack (Settings> Launcher>Homescreen) and select Wallpaper quick render to boost home UI response (when using a static wallpaper).
Once I am on CM10.1, do I need to continue getting my updates at get.cm?
No, you can update future nightly builds by going to Settings>About tablet>CyanogenMod updates. Once there, change Update types to "New Versions (incl. Nightlies)" *NOTE: Pay attention to the file name, you might occasionally see CM 9 or 10 in the list, DO NOT FLASH!
Can I enable Voice Calling on my tablet?
At this time, the framework has the hook enabled to allow for users to work on the feature. IT IS 100% UNSUPPORTED at this time because it requires you to flash modems which is a deviation from the recommended setup.
I flashed ___ from another___ thread, now ___ this stopped working?
Wipe data and flash CM 10.1 from get.cm, does this issue still happen? If so, post logcat... if not, seek support from the thread you flashed the file from.
I HATE the new layout with the navigation keys in the middle, can I move it?
At this time, the nav keys in the middle is the design. Who knows, CM Team might change this in future builds.
OH NO! Where did my previous CWM backup go?
4.2. changed the file structure on how internal storage is viewed. Data on the internal/fake sdcard will go to 0/ (i.e. /sdcard/0/; /data/media/0/) (both are the same thing).
Since the internal storage is emulated, it is setup now (using file explorer like ES) /mnt/shell/emulated then you will see /0/; /legacy/; /obb/; and /clockworkmod/. Copy clockwordmod folder to your PC and if you need to, flash back to old ROM with old CWM and then move the backup back to /sdcard and then restore.
Using the latest recovery, to find /sdcard while in recovery, you will need to adb to /data/media/. *Note: Make sure to have a copy on your PC, I ran out of space before restoring since it is all in the /data.
Hey! Did you see the easter eggs!!
So not only is there an easter egg when you press the Android version and long press on the jellybean, but if you hit CyanogenMod version, CM planted one too. But did you know that by doing the easter egg and long pressing on the jellybean, you unlock another one! Go to Daydreams under Display in settings and you will see BeanFlinger!
My sound is really low or really high when I am using headphones!
If you are having really low or high volumes while listening with headphones, I recommend Voodoo Sound from Supercurio in the Play Store (Link). This allows you to take control of your volume and change it to your preferences.
I see cm-10.1-xxxxxxxxx-UNOFFICIAL-p4xxxx.zip on Droidbasement, what's the difference between droidbasement builds and nightlies?
The UNOFFICIAL builds on droidbasement are experimental builds compiled by pershoot for testing. It is recommended to flash the nightly builds unless specifically asked to test an unofficial build.
Awesome man and thanks...

I am going to need more information about Voice calling since I have the Wifi only model. If someone else can chime in about multi user would be great, I haven't tested multi user yet.

Not sure about voice calling... but as far as user account limits, I don't believe there are any beyond the physical limitations of the internal storage.

sorry, i'm not increasing it more at this current time.
that unofficial rom is my device/vendor/kernel specific work + all of the cyanogenmod team's framework/system/build/misc work (from quick scan of the op's thread).
voice calls you are on your own with (the hook is enabled in the framework overlay so people can do what they will with it). you need to flash a separate modem for it. there's a thread around here where discussions were being held for it and people were attempting to fix some stuff regarding it.
Great thread. BTW I don't have KW issue on wingray's gaaps.

Wow. Great job Pershoot and team!
Running absolutely wonderful on the Google I/O P7510.
Been following your builds on droidbasement for the last 6 months. Glad to see it in the nightlies now.
Thanks for keeping this device alive.
Why is Google now often not working
Running the nightly with wingray gapps. It runs pretty good .
There were crashing issues with Google Now a while ago as well for CM10. What I'd so special about that app that it crashes way more easily than other apps?

CarbonRom is another aftermarket ROM having its unique features. I have been playing with Carbon for sometime. It has some unique features like CarbonFibers and ActiveDisplay. Another cool ROM worth trying. Cheers!
Release Note:
2014/12/12
For some unknown reason, download provider is missing in the last build. I have to rebuild to make to work. Hoping this is really the final build...
2014/12/6
Lollipop is out and the last commit is weeks ago so this is the final version of Carbon 4.4.4. Hoping the lagecy could continue in 5.0. Cheers!
2014/9/12
I have upgrade my build enviornment and tried the AOSP l-preview for the past few weeks. It is more or less doable and quite stable. SKD API20 is not release yet and the version no. still show 4.4.3.43.43. I think that's why CM and others didn't touch l-preview.
I don't think the L source would come soon so I downgrade my build environment. It's been a month and about time for Carbon update!
2014/8/2
Just finished the GPU performance settings. In case some tabs might have lower tolerance, I lowered the GPU default min. and max. freq.
I also enable the Carbon performance tool. You can flash kernel and recovery from there. zRAM can only be enabled by TricksterMod. Old methods doesn't work on Kitkat. This build included all Carbon features. Enjoy!
2014/7/2
WC take a rest for a few days. It is about time for a new Carbon.
2014/4/19
There are a few bugs in CarbonRom for our tab since day one. SystemUI crash, Some pages in CarbonFibers crash...etc. I finally fixed them this weekend! So it's time for me the share. It include all the fixes in my Kitkat roms.

Thanks, worked for me as well, but can't stay on this ROM as bluetooth headset doesn't work with media, only with calls. Same problem as Omni. Works on CM11 and SlimKat, but SlimKat camera doesn't work, so I'm trying CM11 now, looks good so far =)
Dear Daniel, I have install this CarbonROM on to my P6800. It works like a charm. But...i thinks it cannot charged well using my original charger as other ROM. Charging never increase battery level, tend to decrease. Finally it dried up my tab. Now i cannot turn on my tab and still cannot charge it. I have used this tab for 2 years and loved to try many of your masterpiece ROM on it. Any suggestion to turn it on? Thanks bro...
So far I have no problem using this ROM on my P6800. Charging working as normal... Been using this ROM since the day Daniel released it.

I've given this a go on my P6810 and although basically good, I found one problem that was a deal breaker for me in that the bluetooth doesnt seem to work correctly. I could pair and connect with my external speaker (Minx Go) but the audio wasnt routed to the speaker.
Otherwise was a nice smooth rom with no other problems that I found. Ive gone back to the Cyanogen version for now.
Thanks for your efforts, I shall look for any updates. Got to say that bluetooth is a bit "flakey" on all the kit kat roms at the moment.

I have found a problem with Slimkat/Carbon/CM11/Omni ROMs
The top and bottom mics are reversed; meaning that the top microphone (which should be for noise cancellation) is used as the main microphone and bottom microphone (which should be the main microphone) is used for noise cancellation.
I have tried all 4 ROMs today and they all have the exact same problem.
Previously only one microphone was active and you successfully fixed this Daniel by enabling both microphones, now we just need to reverse them to make them work properly.
set color for navigation bar??
Says its a feature but my dumb a$s can't find the setting.
So I guess if does not exist that would be great also since I couldn't find it!

I think it should be ok. I have used xposed on the CM 4.4.4r1 rom, as long as you are using Davlik and not ART for the runtime, it should be fine. I don't think Xposed is compatible with ART at the moment. I use the App Settings module, to set custom DPI values for various apps, also the greenify app has an Xposed module, which helps me to keep battery usage down and memory usage (I do this mainly for Real Racing 3 which is memory hungry).
Wow, a ROM from the future (7 July, today is 3rd July =p)
Hello guys,
Need to know the steps for flashing this ROM and GAPPS on a P6800.
Running stock 4.1.2 with root and CWM.
Thanks guys.
This is for someone who has a stock unrooted galaxy tab 7.7
This should be a full proof method of installing "first" a custom recovery and "second" a custom Kit kat rom.
Download all your files first.
1. Here is the link to Odin 3.07 -
https://www.google.com/url?q=http:/...ds-cse&usg=AFQjCNEqmNw0ERcW4K3UlFV7WKUotUiStw
When you go to this link it will give you the choice to open or save the file - I always download the file then extract it to a folder on my desktop named Odin.
2. Here is the link to TWRP v.2.7.1.0 -
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358545485
When you go to this link you will need to select the download option on the page. A ten second timer will count down and then give you a few options to download from. Just select the first one for your download.
3. Here is the link for your selected rom -
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358556281
When you go to this link you will need to select the download option on the page. It will give you the choice to open or save the file - SAVE is what you do.
4. Here is the link to the gapps file you will need.
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=15797 choose stock!
Again select download and choose to save.
We now have the four files we need to install this custom rom. Please copy the files from steps 3 and 4 to a micro sd card. Place the card into your tablet.
Time to INSTALL!!!
1. If you have not already - unzip the first file "Odin 3.07" to a folder on your desktop PC.
2. Press and hold the volume down and power button together and hold until a screen appears (other then a battery display or SAMSUNG) then let go of both. The screen should say something like "Warning!! A custom OS blah blah .. it will also say "Volume up: Continue".
3. Press the volume up choice. The screen should change to the little android and say downloading. This is known as "odin mode" and also referred to as "downloading mode" .
4. Now plug in the tablet transfer cable to the tablet and the PC. Open the Odin folder and double click the Odin3 v3.07 executable. Give the program permission to open if needed. Once open, Look for id:com - right above that you should see something like 0:[COM6](it might be another number then 6 this is all Good). If you do see this then you know you are connected.
In the option area you will see two options selected. Deselect Auto reboot leaving F. Reset Time the only one selected. To the right of this click the PDA button. This is where you will select the "TRWP v.2.7.1.0" file you downloaded on step 2. Once you select the twrp file, and you press open, the option for PDA will now have a check mark next to it. Now you can Press Start and let it run till you see "RESET!" at the top left of the Odin window and also you will see RES OK! in the message area (bottom left).
5. Disconnect the tablet from the transfer cable. Now Press the Power and Volume Up buttons together until you see the TEAMWIN window - release the buttons. This will take you into your newly installed twrp custom recovery. If the screen goes black while using the software, just touch it to wake.
6. Select WIPE
7. Select Format Data - type yes and press return on the keyboard - when it is done formatting choose the house icon to go back to the home screen.
8. Select Install - Navigate to your external sdcard and select the Carbon rom you downloaded in step 3.
9. Now select "add a zip" and choose the GAPPS file we downloaded in step 4.
10. Now use the "Swipe to Start" and allow the 2 files to install. When they finish you will have three choices.
11. First select wipe on the left - when it finishes select reboot.
Give it some time and you will eventually get to your carbon setup screen.

Hello,

Any thoughts on that?

If you install Gapps after the ROM has been booted for the first time you either need to wipe data and reboot. Without this Gapps will crash constantly. This is due to the new permissions-system in M.

For an initial build, I'd say it works pretty well! Do you have any sources on GitHub? @BuQQzz and I would like to port vanilla CM13 to this device and its 7" counterpart.
EDIT: I tested it out, and in Snapchat (I only tested stories), the audio is incredibly choppy about half the time. This issue doesn't seem to occur when I play a video from the YouTube app. Also, multitasking seems to work pretty well. (For those curious as to how to enable it, add persist.sys.debug.multi_window=true to your build.prop and reboot.) I would say that the OS seems slightly more stable than CM12, even for an initial build. How did you manage to solve the issues with SELinux?

After the reboot, you have to look in the recent apps menu (turn off Slim Recents and Omniswitch if you have them enabled; I'm fairly certain the multitasking options are only available from Android's native recent menu). You should see a new button to the left of the pin icon on each window's bar. I'll upload example screenshots to highlight this button.
EDIT: I've added the screenshots in. Once you press the multitasking button, you'll get the window options, which should be self-explanatory (first two are bottom/top halves, or left/right if you're in landscape mode; the next 4 are for each corner of the screen; the last one is for opening the app in the usual fullscreen mode).

I tested it the other day on an iPad Bluetooth keyboard; I can enter the pairing code and successfully pair the devices, but I can't use the keyboard after that. :/
I had this same issue with CM12; the keyboard works perfectly when I use CM11.

thnx, i`ll try finding patch for this trouble
I installed this yesterday and it works relatively well, however, the screen rotation randomly quits working in both launchers. I have to reboot to get screen rotation back.

I did a clean install of this build, both with and without gapps:
Regardless of whether or not I flash gapps, a red rectangle flashes around the edges of the screen every so often.
When I flash with gapps, the system appears significantly more unstable. It stalls often.
When I flash without gapps, the system appears halfway usable.

I did a dirty flash with gapps and busybox. System is running as smooth as it ever has. Camera is still not functional. Will there be a LTE version forthcoming any time soon?

ABOUT:
- based on Sprint 1.13.651.6 RUU
- Stock, rooted & deodexed
- headphone audio tweaks
This is the 11th installment of the DigitalKarma Rom series which dates back to 2012 on the EVO 4G. It has been nearly 3 years since I made my last one, Ver. 10: Zen on the M7. During that time I had stepped away from the XDA development community to pursue other interests. It would take a boldly new design and concept to get me inspired to come back out from a long slumber and create something again for HTC devices. That device is the HTC U11.

OMJ(Rom-related questions)
chdloc(audio expertise)
galactus(audio tester)
notes:
this ROM has not been tested thoroughly enough hence the experimental tag. It also does not help that I do not own an U11 yet so i cannot test. My modding techniques are a little rusty from all that time away as I have been relearning the ROM making process again. some things are coming back to me from memory and a few other things have changed but I'd like to think my ROM works....
Warning: Install at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damages that may occur to your phone, but as a friendly reminder in case you didn't already know... always remember to backup your system first, then wipe data plus cache before you flash!
also if you are going to listen to audio start the volume on low preferably 0 db's then slowly work it up. Until it is safe to do so.. make sure not to have it at full blast! listen. responsibly!
Thanks and enjoy the rom.
and one more.
if anybody can test this for me to see if it boots that would be great. would love to see screenshots as well if booted successfully.
Download DK11 v1.1 Test - 1.13.651.6
this is extracted from the latest Sprint RUU. guess you should be on the latest Sprint firmware as well.

wallpaper with a flower? lol. wish i could see this for myself.
so you couldn't swipe left or right from the main homescreen or couldn't pull down notification menu either?
thanks for testing. i got to see where this flower resides i am combing through the apps...
anyway some interesting differences to what HTC has changed from 1.03.651 to 1.13.651 in regard to camera, and bits of bluetooth and audio files.. mostly camera has been altered the most, but don't know if they fully implemented the 1080p recording in this version some of the files are in place.

Def a pink flower. I couldn't find the same wallpaper when I did a quit google search if htc wallpapers..sorry. I could not swipe left or right and I don't believe the notification shade would drop down. The power menu was all that would pop up. I'll try to look again for that wallpaper.

that is weird.
would help me get a clearer idea if you could somehow get a screenshot or even better, a logcat of the bootup. i dont know what i could be doing that is wrong. i havent modded any apps or frameworks yet just to be on the safe side until i know it boots properly
only thing i can think of is if several files didnt deodexed correctly.
Will download and test when possible.
re-upping. my updater script look a little whack

To be more clear....it boots and hangs at the second splash screen. I do get to see the full boot animation though.

I wonder how v1.1 and v1.0 are when booting up as a reference. Until someone can provide me a logcat I can't really do anything to find the problem.
I would have to start over from scratch

Finally got to download and flash the latest, and still behaves the same way. Not sure if it's me.
I can't install my phone drivers on the work computers, so logcat has to be tonight. Speaking of which, does the aLogCat provide information about previous flashes even after I successfully flashed a new Rom? If that's the case, then you will have a logcat soon.

You'll need the device to be connected to your pc and use adb logcat from there. Type adb logcat > logcat.txt then press enter before you power on the device to ensure the log starts right at bootup.
aLogCat will only work if your device is actively running and you would have to go into the app so you won't be able to get a log of the bootup.
Looking forward to the log :silly:
