You have to upgrade the hardware before you can upgrade the software
Maybe you need an external camera.

@OP... you hard wired your X8? ...i dont think you will find zip for 5 MP anywhere....
That mod is just a image resize our x8's camera can't even take a real (HQ I mean) 3mp picture so 5mp is just wasting of sdcard space

It's possible to change camcorder's sound from system/media ,& you can change to 5mp by installing a flashable zip

Step one: dismantle your x8 and an x10mini.
Step two: switch camera sensors
Step three: build kernel with support for this.
I guess the most difficult part is step two

You are right. The step two is a "little bit" complicated... The success rate is around zero with home made tools. The needed equipment is more expensive than a new xperia s and a new xperia tablet.

On the "Swapper" app with the green icon, it says done but type in "free" into Terminal and it says no swap. With "swapper 2", it says "swapoff :/sdcard/swapfile.swp : function not implemented". This is what I get.
Let's take this to a new means, is swap even possible on X8/W8 stock kernel? (I think it is on X10mini??? - X10mini and X8 have different kernels?)
Is this possible on stock kernel? Not custom kernels, stock (for those with locked bootloaders) ?
Maybe its only my X8 that can't use swap? Maybe its because I'm on baseband 006? I dunno.
It's a feature, it must be supported. Such as overclock. Stock kernel doesn't support swap so it's going to do nothing.

I went into Playstore to install Instagram, however when I'm on the Instagram official page; it states that "This device is not compatible with Instagram", as such I am unable to install Instagram on my GingerDX v29, are there any other ways to go about installing Instagram?
