Hi
My son and daughter both have GT540 that originally came with carphone warehouse 1.6.
Following posts I've got them to 2.1
There now asking me to look at other ROMs.
What ROM would you recommend and how do I install them ?
I own a HTC Desire and am currently running MildWild (based on Oxygen 2.3.2)
I know Oxygen is available for the GT540, would you think that is a good move ?
How do I install either that or another ROM on the GT540 ?
Thanks
How: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1224747
Which: oxygen is a good choice. Or any CyanogenMod 7 (swift Droid second life or CyanogenMod with .32 kernel)

Yes asis is deodexed but has not so good memory management like sdsl v3
Sent from my LG GT540 Swift
Best roms we have at the moment are:
- sdsl v3 (and maybe v4)
- pcf v6
Both have small bugs. PcF v6 is faster but a few games doesn't work in my phone.
SDSL V4 is faster than v3, requires smaller system partition than v3 but have some bugs and quadrant score in 3d is smaller than v3... you can try it...

stable rom -> froyo
- utopia 2.2.1 final
- AOSP 2.2.2 v2.3 final ( .32 kernel) or v1.9 (.29 kernel, slower but no bugs)
Now that you reminded me of Utopia +1!!
Utopia = fast and stable

which one is more stable? Im using Utopia but if the PCF rom with new kernel is stable maybe I should change
edit: all .32 kernes roms I tried, all sucks.
Try pcf v5 with sp1,2 and latest zice update(v4). Is the best rom ivever tried! The fastest and the most stable. I dont need oc, only smartassv2 gov and 122-600mhz...
Edit: cm7

This Until camera and deep sleep fix for ICS by mike, with out a doubt faster and smoother than pcfs v5 (but still if its for kids pcfs is a good choice)
Sent from my GT540 ICS Beta 4 - XDA App
on pcf blog says that you can download update_zice instead of SPs.
which froyo rom is the best, utopia or pcf? i need a stable rom,and speacially, the camera is as good as 2.1 ^^
if pcf, which version i should use, .32 or .29.
thanks for my bad english
with pcf rom I had a lot of kernels panics and "wifi enable" error (tried 2.2.2 and cyanogen7). Guess Ill continue with utopia, all other roms are in beta, does not matter if the dev writes its full version.
Hello all ! What is best rom for stock kernel (stability, gaming, perfomance) and frequency cpu (Overclock)?

Here is the page you can find almost all ROMs, including those for stock kernel. It's all sorted by versions of Android OS (from Donut to ICS)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425240
I personally use PRIME HD 6.0 by Haka (Gingerbread 2.3.7)
It's fast, smooth, reliable, got lots of free RAM and you have GingerDX options in it.
or use GingerDream also a good soft with good results
why so ginger?
froyo is great for stock kernel and it has best stock-kernel performance!

its bcoz like having now ubuntu 8.04. Has no new improvements. all new mods work for GB not Froyo
Personally: LewaOS v4 (found somewhere in general section ) or www.xperiasite.pl pretty fast no bugs awesome ui
I would also recommend you try using either GingerDX or PrimeHD. Both offer great performance without much unnecessary apps pre-installed where sometimes it gets the phone laggy or slow.

I used PrimeHD now. Before I try GingerDX, GingerElite, PetrukHD and many. But I like PrimeHD.
For performance, try froyopro
Hey I'm wondering what the best gaming rom is because i've been trying sense 4 andI keep getting weird touch screen problems/glitches
best rom that's functional ?
Try kaijura's ROM, ICS, blazing fast & aokp. Or else, there's always CM7.2 stable...

A GB rom probably, in my experience all ICS roms have touch problems
Probably Nik's sense 3.5 trinity and RCmix kernel, or CM7.2 and Kaijura's ICS kernel V3, they were good in terms of performance for me
If I go back to AOKP does anyone know of the best mods as well as the best setup for it ??
Thanks Guys
Try using chainfire 3D, it seems to improve graphics performance by making them not as detailed/high quality
Overclock to maybe 1.2ghz or something
Set governor to either ondemand or performance (performance uses a lot of battery)
Ive got stuff in my sig atm too, im on ice cold
Would you mind posting the links to the best mods?
V6 supercharger, I have it on 768HP settings
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
Chainfire 3D, experiment with it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087427
Its also on the market
Go to settings --> rom control --> performance for CPU settings
Thank you

To my knowledge there are no specific kernels for the same. But you can use Notecore (Over Clock Version) on ICS roms only(Not on cm10 or AOSP/AOKP) and BBRQ3 or Ani kernals on cm9/AOKP/AOSP that supports overclocking. (Warning :- Overclocking may harm your hardware. It is a dangerous operation. Use it At Your Own Risk.)
SINCE YOU ARE ON CM10 YOU CAN'T USE THESE KERNELS I SUPPOSE.
Any kernel that can be overclocked for performance with suitable voltage settings that can support the cpu and gpu can give you a great gaming experience. Notecore kernel is an excellent kernel for stock ics. But jellybean cm 10 is just under development so you will have to wait for a performance kernel.

Hi
I'm currently using minicm7 & nAa-14-gb.
I totally get 4000 Antutu score (new version) 3d=2400 & 2d=~280
I also tried the following roms on the top of nAa kernel :
Gingerzaraki =only slightly less performance
xperiences= lags like ics
Ixperia=similar performance ((maybe a little faster but ios interface is not interesting))
-I'm wondering is there a better rom+kernel for best gaming performance?
-How much is your 3d-2d performance?
-Any tricks or mods to improve gaming?
Tnx

Ive tested froyopro rom v2.5 + alfs v09a no fps cap. Terrible bug with brightness (set at max and won't set to min)
Here are comparison between minicm7-2.2.1 {nAa14 kernel}& froyopro{alfs v09a}
[email protected] mhz (both)
I ran antutu benchmark v3.0.2 at first boot without any changes in rom.
FroyoProv2.5+fix patches)
(click for bigger image)
& minicm7:
As u can see in results, they are pretty like each other ...
*My experience in froyopro : super speedy menu scrolling, and switching between apps. But time for waking up from sleep is about 0.5~1.0 second which is very extreme for a new installed rom. *this is a froyo rom comes with android 2.2.9 ,it should perform faster than gingerbread roms but actually its not very different ...(+brightness bug which cause battery drain)
*my experience in minicm7 ,perfect for day to day use, without any serious bug or problems...
Nice performance & equals to froyo pro in 2d&3d and sometimes better.
Comes with android 2.3.7 which means a huge range of apps &games
my choice is minicm7, what's yous?
