Hi,
I've charged my phone this night to 100%. I've gone on the bus and played Defense of Lushington Springs (tower defense) for about 30 minutes.
It burned about 50% which is a lot but I've seen these kind of burns before on some games. Phone was warm but not hot.
Then i opened Trial X3 (bike game) and played a level or two. The screen started flickering and Note's screen turned black. I've taken
the battery out and restarted it. It showed 1%. I've turned it off and waited for a while, turned it on again and it was on 50% again.
Later it also started flickering and crashed, this time it went back to 9% but then to 1% again.
Now this kind of behaviour clearly isn't normal, I'd just like to know if this is likely to be caused by the ROM, TrialX (lushngton springs did burn trough the battery but it was at least stable) or hardware (battery?). Note that i've tried TrialX before, like 20 levels at a time and it worked.
Battery levels: http://bayimg.com/HAJMIAaeE
My setup:
Note (of course)
ROM: AngrY by RevengeDevTeam V3 - 4.1.2
KERNEL: Philz touch 3.95
If it's ROM related (or perhaps even if it's not) I'd appreciate some info on which ROM would burn less battery and still be functional.
Thanks in advance
*bump*
I've tried Alliance ROM now and it seems to work a bit better. Battery drain is still big and it seems to flicker when stressed.
Also it recharges a bit quickly, so is it a faulty battery? Also battery levels go up when it's idle.
Sorry for double posting but this is hindering my phone quite severely.
Any help apreciated.

In addition to my other issues, refer to thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=43272 (ERROR: ITWriteDisk - An internal error occurred), I have noticed that battery meter on my 8125 flashed to the the imate aku2 rom, is always at 100%. I'm unsure whether this will effect charging since when I plug in the charger, the led turns green immediately and stops charging, and I have had the device turned on for 4 or 5 hours disabling all the power saving features, leaving the backlight on, turned on BT and wifi, and its still at 100%... either its a great battery, or somethings screwy.
small update.
after about 5 hours the battery meter started to drop quickly. Although this is good, the problem that comes up for the first 5 hours, you cannot charge the device as it thinks the battery is full.
Am I the only one experiencing this?
same here.... after 24 hours battery meter droped from 100 to 94
bafore it was 90 after 24 hours
maybe they improved something.. thats why it does not go so fast as before
I think it is the fact that the new rom seems to be much better with power consumption. I am getting almost a 50% gain between charges due to my pattern of usage!!! Very happy!
I'm more then happy at the battery improvement, what I am not happy about is that if this is a bug (granted there is improvement), the problem becomes when charging the phone, so I have it for 12 hours, its still showing 100%, I have an offsite meeting the next day, and would not be able to charge the phone for the entire day, the battery will start to drop very fast since the phone thought it was fully charged, when it really was not... I'm confusing myself here, but I think you understand what I am saying.
Also, while my battery was at 84%, I did a soft reset, when the phone came back up, it showed 100% battery and refused to charge... this is a problem.
You might want to inquire about a replacement device or battery - in case it's not the sotware.
My laptop has this issue. It's always been on external power and somehow that's weirded out the control circuit telling the machine how full the battery is. It will read 100%, but it's actually at 75%. Then if I disconnect it, it will go down to 5% in 8 minutes. However, it will happily run for 3 hours+ on that last 5%. Similarly, if I hook it back up to the charger, it goes to 99% (leaving the battery indicator light amber) in another 8 minutes. Takes many hours more for it to get back to 100% (making the battery indicator light blue).
With any luck the control circuit will be in the battery (I believe it is), and the easiest way to check is to exchange your battery for a temporary new one and see if the problem goes away.

Agreed.
If you think your battery is stuck - just do this little test.
Turn on Bluetooth, WiFi, make a GPRS connection, and set back light at 100% and don't let them turn off or let the unit power off. The battery should drain pretty quickly in this senario.
I thought mine was stuck, but it dropped 5% in less than 10 min in this mode.
FYI,

I'm not so sure its the battery.. another issue that I just noticed, is taht even though the backlight is turning off, the screen itself is not turning off after the designated time I set...... this is rather bothersome as if I forgot to manually turn off the screen.. it remains on constantly.
Even with my original Qtek 9100 EN ROM, the screen doesn't turn off - only backlight. If you want the screen to be off, you'd need to go to Standby, or use a third party utility to turn the screen entirely off.
Although lithium batteries are best kept at a full charge, they should be periodically drained to recalibrate the fuel gauge.

I was also having this problem but after about 2 days use it began to go down. My G3 device seemed to hang at 100% and drop quickly after it hits 25%. I believe this must be a hardware issue as I now have a G4 (setup identically to the G3) and it does not have this issue.
i am having the same issue but i believe it the battery because my phone 8 months old and if you read the battery thread it has all the same issues your having
Hi
I have noticed when I soft reset my phone the battery drops anywere from 5% up to about 70%! It varies from rom to rom. If i plug it in and softreset it a couple of times the battery goes up to around what it use to be. If it makes a difference I flash roms alot and don't usually install to many applications.
Is this normal at all or is my battery faulty? It's only about 8 months old.
Any ideas? Tips I could try?
Thanks
Imran
you know, i have the same problem when installing, touch x legendary rom, battery is about 96,96% but when i install that rom, battery drops down to 8,7%, i just plug in power for second, and battery jumps to 98%, and then all working fine...
The way phones and other devices display their state of charge (%) isn't always accurate, hence why it jumps back up 5% after plugging it in. I don't think your battery is unreliable, it's just reporting the wrong percent of charge...
I see. Mine is more like 50% so I guess mine is just really wrong! any ideas for fixing this?
Also i have the typical xperia x1 problem were it thinks the headphones are plugged in for the last 4 days. I have plugging and unplugging the headphones in heaps but it doesn't seem to work
Thanks
I have the same problem.
Phone has one year and 8 months.
Wine phone or battery?
I just got exact problem this morning
I agree with comment above, I think it just battery indicator not accurately represented battery state.
I also noticed the problem happened when I get my phone idle for a while
I was just going to start a new thread about this kind of thing. My phone's original battery has run out at anywhere between 0 and 30%... it tends to go for a couple of days if I don't use the phone much. I've tried recalibration and it doesn't really help. I thought that was bad, but I just bought a backup battery and it's even worse... yesterday it went from 100 to 50% over half a day on standby, then I used it for about ten minutes and it just went off! At 50%!
I was only expecting rubbish life from the cheap battery but at least report the charge properly so I have a chance! Old phones could always do it... why can't one that cost hundreds of pounds when it was new?
I take it there's nothing you can really do?
Hey all, I'm new here since I just bought a used G1 on Craigslist after losing my previous phone, so this is my first Android phone. I rooted it and I've been messing around with the phone for the past week.
Everything's been working pretty well, but my battery behaves strangely. I'm current running BiffmodV2.1 on 2.22.28.25 using ezterry's kernel. I just did a clean wipe and calibrated the battery too.
The problem is, when it's sleeping (I put the end button behavior to sleep) it uses barely any battery. I leave it in sleep mode overnight and it goes down by maybe 2% tops. However, the second I start using it, the battery starts draining like crazy. It uses maybe 1% for every 1-2 mins I'm using the phone. I turned everything off (wifi, gps, data (I disabled data because I don't have a data plan), background data, sync), turned screen to dimmest, and setCPU to 528mhz. Even with all this, it still drains severely. When I use it for music with the screen off, it uses about 1% battery every 10 minutes, much better than the drain is nowhere near what it is when the screen is on (minimal use without music). When I put it to sleep with Wifi enabled, it also barely drains any battery, but same thing happens when it's awake.
Does anyone know a possible solution to this? I also recently bought a 1400mAh battery, but it's most likely coming tomorrow. The current battery is pretty old, it's the stock battery that the previous owner has been using for the past 2 years, but even then, it doesn't explain the difference in the battery drain.
TL;DR G1 battery drains like a mother when awake, uses almost no battery when asleep even with music playing. Looking for a fix.
EDIT: I also tried Super D 1.11, Chromatic, Cyanogen, and a few others. All had the same exact issue.
I'm having this exact same issue, my phone also turns off randomly when I'm using it. I didn't have this issue when using radio 2.22.27.08.

Sounds like it's time for a new battery. It cant be the rom doing it since you've flashed so many and it still does the same thing. Try out your new battery when it come I'm pretty sure that'll fix it.
Got my new battery, and things are much better. It still drains a bit fast with the screen on and doing stuff (texting, browsing, etc) but the battery life is much better now. I'm guessing the new battery fixed it!
I have an ATT M7 One that is a little under a year old and recently (Past month or so) I have been having really odd battery fluctuations. I’ll link to an imgur album with some of the battery level graphs that I’ve caught in the past few weeks to hopefully help you understand what I’m talking about more clearly since I don’t think I’ll be able to describe them very accurately on my own. So in the first case i’ve encountered I will charge the battery fully, and once the phone is running on battery it will last anywhere from 15 minutes to maybe an hour two and then just die. But when it dies, the battery level still displays 60%-70%.(Images 4,5,6,& 7) Then when I turn the phone back on the battery level will be anywhere from around 0%-20% and will last for another couple of minutes before dying again. There is another case of my battery acting really strange where the battery level will stay at around 50%-60% even though it’s being charged continuously (Right side of Image 1). I don’t know if it’s because my battery’s calibration is off or of the battery is just dying. I really hope the battery isn’t just outright dying; to get to this level of battery instability in under a year seems pretty shocking to me. I should add that i didn’t get any of these problems before I rooted my phone. I didn’t notice it while it was rooted with the stock rom. I initially started noticing the problem after I installed a GPE rom (not exactly sure which). I thought it was just the rom at first but I’ve switched around to different roms and have been getting the same problem. So does anyone know what the problem is or what could have caused it and if it is even fixable at all?
Thanks for any input!

UPDATE: I've performed a factory reset and used the phone as normal while watching battery life. The battery life lasted about an hour and a half, getting down to 80%. Throughout the battery life I was re-installing my apps and one of my restores required a restart. When I restarted my phone, the phone powered on with 60% battery life then died about a minute later.
Hi,
I got my (used) note 1 about a year and a half ago. I've installed alliance rom from the get go and experienced some battery drain. At first I thought maybe it's the battery, so I got a new one. This also didn't help but as the drain wasn't significant (I wasn't even 100% sure it really was a problam), I just continued using the device. After about a year the drain got worse (wasn't a battery issue, as I checked with an almost un-used battery). I figured changing a rom might help, so I moved to CM11, after installing an official version and re-rooting the phone. It made no difference, but I continued using the phone anyway. The battery drain got worse and today it drained 80% in 7 hours with almost no use (talk for about 5 min. and maybe 30 min. screen time with wi-fi on but no GPS). Also, the phone started heating a lot (it got to a point where it was uncomfortable touching the top of the screen due to heat. But it didn't shut down). Then the phone started rebooting itself or just freezing until I had to do a hard reset about once a day. I think it's only when it's in use but can't be sure. another issue is that when I try to take more than 2-3 pictures with flash on, the phone reboots (flash off - no problem). The heating was solved by underclocking the device, but the other issues persist.
I thought about changing ROMs again, but as it didn't help last time, I decided to ask for advice here first.
Any thoughts?
Taking pictures on low battery or bad battery with flash can cause the phone to power off. It could be either.
Install wake lock detector from the app store and check what's draining your battery.. Then either paste a screen shot to get more help.
Thanks, I'll do that.
But just to clarify, the phone shuts down (abruptly) when using flash event if the battery is charged. Also, there's no such issue when using the led as a flashlight.
OK, the drain in the last few days was due to a game I installed and forgot to greenify, so let's put the battery drain aside for the meanwhile.
Question is, what can cause rebooting?
