Hi guys,
Originally the issue was with the USB / charging port , the phone wasn't charging properly it used to charge for a bit then stop. The battery was checked but it was fine.
Got the phone fixed the guy fixed the port and he also flashed new firmware, it originally had stock gingerbread and he replaced it with stock JVP 2.3.4.
Since then the phone charges fine but it doesn't connect to the laptop. Windows doesn't even make that sound to show it has been recognised. I have factory reset it, also cleared USB storage formatted the sd as well. I also reinstalled the USB drivers but still no luck.
I would appreciate help very much.
Cheers

Don't use mobile ODIN! You'll brick your phone.

Probable Solution
My phone's USB was also not working but I made it working. What you can do is first check whether your phone USB port is having any salt deposits (yes, salt deposits because of drying of un-noticed spilled water) if it is there clean it with any good quality cleaning fluid. Second you can try to push up the USB connector (chip on which USB connecting gold colored plates are sticked) to the screen side of the phone BUT NOT TOO MUCH. Try these when phone is off and battery is taken out. Do it carefully or you will end up in breaking your USB connector. These methods have worked for me, but try it on your own risk. I don't take any responsibility. Best luck.
need urgent help My Note is always showing that its on charging even if no charger hooked to it and it is giving popups that voltage too high charging stopped
how to fix this
need help
As a first guess... I would ask if you are using an original battery... And if you can swap it with another battery to see if it does the same thing.

Will your phone work with just charger plugged in and no battery?

Hi. Firstly sorry for my bad English, I'm Spanish and I don't speak it very well. I've THIS [ **[ROM][CM10.1][4.2.1] Asylum CM10.1 Nightlies - Slim, Fast and Smooth 4.2.1 Rome™**]ROM, but I've had other ROMs before.
The problem is that when I'm using my phone, the battery discharges even if I'm charging it. I've tried with some chargers with the same result.
Thanks for your time.
Try cleaning the usb port with alcohol. It might be faulty and need replacing its a common issue on the notes I suffered it last month

Go to system settings > Developer Settings and enable Show CPU usage.
Look whats taking up your CPUs time (that process should be at or near the top) and try to get rid of it.

Best thing to do now is reflash stock firmware and claim for usb module to be replaced if you have warranty ?
You can buy the part with instructions to do it yourself but if you have warranty dont take the risk, let the pro's fix it.
if you cant connect to computer to flash firmware, download mobile odin and use that, download the firmware files either from your phone or pc (which ever had fastest connection) and flash them with mobile odin.

Firstly, thx for your answer.
The USB port works fine, the problem is that when I am using it, battery discharges...
Is the part expensive? I'm out of warranty.
Regards.

Before you go about changing the usb module and all, try a different battery too.

Just 2 quick questions: where do you charge your phone? On the wall plug, not the PC's USB port, right? Is your charger the stock one (by Samsung)?

Exactly, but there's a curious thing: I think (not sure) that when I charge it in the PC's USB port it works fine... but not on the wall plug.
Yes, it's, but I've tried with other chargers too.
Thanks for ur answer

Hi everybody,
The Micro USB of my Galaxy Note is broken, I can therefore no more use it to charge the battery and no more connect it to the computer. Thankfully I can charge the battery using an external charger. The problem is that I have no operating system loaded in the device and I can no more boot to the custom recovery (CWM). The device is rooted, I can only start the bootloader of the device.
So, my question is: Is there a way to flash a custom recovery or anyway to flash a ROM from bootloader without connecting to the PC? Is there a way to use SDCARD to repair the device? Anyway to resolve the problem?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Your only choice is to replace the usb port. Without recovery you can't install custom roms from the micro sd and without pc connection, you can't install stock roms or connect via adb.

Thank you for your answer. Do you think I can link the 4 cables that are inside the USB cable to the Micro USB port pins of the device ? I mean to do it temporarily to connect the device to the PC. May it work that way?

I guess theoretically it's possible, but I'd get advice from someone who's done a change of use port.

This the is usb port. It has few thin pins coming out of the port. If you are a good solderer then you may try but not sure which pins are what.

Here is a cut and paste of my post from another thread. it will be useful to you.
take a look at your original usb port and put it next to the imitation cheap board from ebay. you will see that it looks exactly the same at first glance but at close inspection you will notice different labeling. I have bought 6 boards from ebay from different sources and all were bad. some with no sound, one wont charge, one will turn off the phone when I connect the charger.
Now I have established what a real usb port looks like with the conductive tape covering the back antenna. I have ordered 2 parts from 2 sources who have confirmed all the original marking and labels on their parts. they claim its original and OEM. so give me time so I can receive the item, install and test it. then I will give my review.
meanwhile you can look at these 2 different sellers. I think they have original parts.

parts4repair.com has working ones for sure. Lot of ebay sold are found faulty, if you search the threads.
Also make sure you get the proper revision
yeah... make sure no get a low quality Charger port flex cable. THe low quality one really troublesome i just waste and replacet 2 useless port in half year due to purchase low quality one....
NOw hoping the third one dont fail me in short time.
