[Q] about jb 4.2.1 roms - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have problem with roms with android jb 4.2.1.
All the people write how excellent is c-rom mix 4.2.1.
I installed this rom but I have a lot of stucks, the battery is not good, its not smooth and fast.
I tried others roms of 4.2.1 (like RemICS) but with all of them I have the same problems.
I do always wipes and format before install.
There is something that I can do that will cause the 4.2.1 roms work better?
Thanks for helpers

If i experience problems with any of my current Rom, i go back to GB via Odin and remove everything on my internal SD card that i do not need.
After that i flash a CM9 Rom to use only as base before finally flashing the JB Rom.
With this method, i always get a clean trouble free installation, resulting in a problem free Rom.
Device: GT-i9000
Rom: JB 4.2.1 Vanilla Rootbox v0.0.2
Gapps +..: JusTunBean Inverted
Kernel: Mackay 0.241

It is what exactly what I did before I installed RemICS JB (this is the rom that I have now on my phone) and I have a lot of lugs and it is not fast and the battery drain is fast.

ICS or JB

Hi,
I'm looking for ICS Or JB rom 'cause i'm using CM9 nightly but it's old build but i have problems when tried to download newer build and i have been thinking that should i try other roms too? I want a rom which has just few small bugs or no bugs at all. So, should i just try again and try download CM9 or try another rom?

You can try CM10, it's OK for daily use. Has minor bugs but nothing serious.
It's a little early for JB, give it some time to get stable.
ICS have come a long way and is now amazing for daily use. You can try here: https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum...wich-4-0-4-in-samsung-galaxy-s-g-t-i9000.125/
CM 10 is working great but for a simple, stable ROM I would recommend that you give slim ICS a go. I never had a problem with it, from 3.9 to 4.2.
I'm using GNex Beta 6.1 (JB) and coming from TiramiSlim 2.0 (ICS) which are blazing fast ROMs .
Loved the easy installation of TiramiSlim with the Aroma installer
But give JB a try, daily juse can be recommended

For ICS, I recommend cm9 blueberry.
I'm on ICS333 2.0.1 by Team 3xtr3m3 with Semaphore 1.3.0 and i love it. Give it a try. He is also working on a JB Version.

I've been using CM9 for a while but with time it ended up lagging a lot. A switched to SlimICS with Semaphore kernel a few weeks ago and I'm impressed. It's fast and doesn't have bugs (at least in my experience). Absolutely recommended and looking forward to switch to SlimBean as soon as it gets stable for daily use.
Best ICS for Galaxy S
i am a amature with softwares but very much addicted in changing the ROM in my Galaxy S . i switched to custom ROMS in GB itself (Can't wait till the updates from samsung)
I tried various ICS but ended up in somany lags mainly losing my IMEI (which made me sleepless many nights)
Finally now am with Team 3xtr3m3 IMM76L ICS333 2.0.1 & kernel 3.0.8 Semaphore_ICS_1.2.2s. for the past 2-3 months.
am controlling my urge to switch to JB.
am expecting Team 3xtr3m3 JB
Thanks to Team 3xtr3m3 as am enjoying my Galaxy S:good:
I would recommend you to download the newest build of CM9 Nightly, or CM9 RC2 and stay with it some more time. I've been using it for a very long time and I had no problems. Currently I'm using CM10 and I can only say that it's not stable at all yet. You shold wait a while for JB
Thanks, i'm using CM9 now and no bugs! But i'm interested in the TiramiSlim rom.
Is it fast and is it more stable than CM9?
I have no comparison with CM9. I've been using TiramiSlim v.2.0 for a month and I don't complain. Installation is very easy, you may choose what do you want. Compared to GB I can use my SGS longer without a reboot.
Could you give me instructions how to install tiramislim?
In TiramiSlim thread is instruction of installation. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1664049
From SD card, using CWM I installed this ROM. Sometimes you may have problems, e.g. with camera. So install ROM again. Reinstall often solves this problem.
Good luck!
I can absolutely recommend SlimICS. It is fast and stable. I've used it together with Semaphore Kernel and it was nearly perfect.
Though I made the switch to SlimJB now it is just because of one reason. The available space for apps is limited because of the size of the datadata partition. SLIMJB got rid of that partition so I don't have the low memory message anymore. And it has Semaphore Kernel as default.
So for daily use just install SlimICS. You can find it in the development section. I can't post URLs yet. But you can Google SlimICS and it should give you the proper link.
Slim ICS definitely

I know SlimICS is very good rom but i'm interested in TiramiSlim because it has more languages (or finnish language which is my language) and it has more features than SlimICS.

I recommend TiramiSlim, used some time (because no Polish language in SlimICS) and it work flawless
Actually i test JB roms (X-Bean now) and thinking about return to TiramiSlim
I wonder, if language pack from OTA (from TiramiSlim) runs properly with SlimICS. Has anybody tried it?
Then we would have SlimICS with others languages.
Tiramislim
Hmm just looked at tiramislim and its based of slim ICS and runs extremely well I say go for that it has more features as you said

CM9 vs Slim ICS vs ICS333: stability

Coming from CM7 - getting random freezes and reboots.
Would like the most stable rom and I am reading that CM9 stable release, slim ics, and ics333 are the ones most often mentioned.
Which is the most stable?
I could care less about the bells and whistles - just need a very stable rom.
ICS333 , its simple,fast, and mostly stable.
To avoid FC in yr apps, look at FA&Q you will find an instruction about getting so many FC , install the file ,flash the Rom and gapps ,enjoy

Mostly stable?
Also, what is the latest and best data fix?
Cant say nothin bout ics333 but been running Slim Ics for like 2 months without any problems!
Go for slim its stable with no FC,s lag or random reboots

ICS333 and CM9 are very similar, I have been using CM9 for about half-year, ics333 only about one week, SlimICS for about a month, SlimICS was for me the best, cause its actually slim, fast, very stable...., all of these roms ive been using with semaphore. I would recommend u to give a try to all of them, then choose
I used CM9 Stable and now I'm on SlimICS 4.2. Both of these ROMs are stable and smooth. But in my opinion Slim is smoother than CM9.
since I'm coming from cm7, I think I'll try cm9 first.
Any recommended data fix scripts?

[Q] ROM recommendation

Hi,
What is the best/most stable ICS/JB ROM for the Galaxy S 1?
I am going to use it as my primary phone so all phone functions are a must, plus (and this is the main point) I need proper camera and camcorder (not video illusion...)
But I also really need something stable
Thanks!
Cm10 is good for me and my usage but in my opinion the best way to know is to try them out for a day or two and decide.

Try custom JB Rom C-RoM Mix v5 or C-RoM BeaN v2.4. They are tested very fast, smooth, and stable.
I even flashed the latest JB Camera 4.2 and it's working fine. This is the latest and best camera so far for JB Roms.
For me, C-RoM roms are lagy after first 12 hours...They are fast, but CM10 based roms are smoother.

Where can I find the camera app for Galaxy S?
Does this rom include gapps? If not, where can I get the suitable gapps?
Thanks!!
Try this:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32493954&postcount=1
The Rom already has Gapps.
For better performance flash a big memory kernel afterwards - Mackay 0.95 or Semaphore 2.5.0s

[Q] Updating my s1 from darkyrom v9.5 to JB, whats best rom?

I got a i9000 for backup that is still running darky rom 9.5 extreme version, i hardly ever update it but looking to now as my s3 is going in for repair, whats the best, most stable rom for performance and battery that i can install and keep on there without a need to reflash for another year?
Whats the method of flashing a JB rom onto my s1, is there an issue with bootloaders?
I'd recommend latest Mackay 1.5.0. It's rock stable and hardly customized - it's nearly stock JB. Thus it's really stable and reliable.
Flashing a JB ROM needs CM9 as a base, so you will have to flash CM9 anyways first. And be sure to backup your IMEI folder!
Custom JB C-RoM Mix v6 is also highly recommended. Very fast smooth and stable. You must flash a CM9 Rom first to avoid getting your IMEI invalid.
You can flash via CWM.

I flashed the c Rom mix, so far so good, didn't flash CM9, as I read the replies later to this thread but luckily my imei number is still intact.

Why internal memory low in custom ROM as comapre to stock ROM

Its first time i installed custom ROM CyanogenMod 10 with jellybean 4.1.1 in my galaxy s i9000 but i find out that internal memory is only 422MB while original stock ROM come with ample 1.5 gb internal memory. Why is that ? People get custom ROMs for improving their software. I also want to know that when you install custom ROMs your galaxy s i9000 still able to play video formats like divx/vidx ?
Thank you guys

If you are having a galaxy S I9000, then in stock rom your internal storage would be 1.8 GB and with CM10 and above it will be 1.46 GB. This is to ensure that adequate amount of space is available for system apps as size of a JB rom including google apps is much larger than a Gingerbread rom.
You can play all kind of video formats no matter what rom you are on.. try mxplayer.. I personally use that and it hasn't disappointed me yet.

Thanks for reply dude
Whatever you said make sense but my internal memory in CM10 is only 422 mb not 1.4 gb..its jelly bean 4.1.1
So i would have to install additional video player to play these video formats..i would not need to do this in stock ROM because it was built in there

If i remember right, old 4.1.1 Roms implemented this small partition layout (422 mb) for a short time but quickly revised to the big partition layout (1gb+).
I suggest you flash to the latest build 4.2.1 Roms.
Device: GT-i9000
Rom: JB 4.2.1 C-RoM Mix v7
Kernel: Mackay 0.244
