How do I root? - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, so I have an s3 MINI GT-I8190L and I was wondering how do I go about rooting the phone? It is currently on android version 4.1.2 JellyBean. Any help will be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hello, try this thread :good:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2083696

Your version is 4.1.2 and the rom suggested by Calculating Infinity is 4.1.1, so I think you will have to do a factory reset after or else you might have a lot of force close apps.

You'll have to use Odin.

i'm on mac so would you recommend Heimdall?

Would I need to add the PIT file in odin when flashing this or just the PDA md5 file by itself?

Heimdall somehow doesn't read my phone on my Ubuntu partition yet ADB does, yet my Win7 partition has it in reverse (Odin yes, ADB no).

Can this file "HOME_P3113UEALD3_378347_REV04_user_low_ship.tar.md5" be used on UEALCB?
Any thoughts?

Pleas do not do things before you understand what they are.

Thanks for this. Will be useful once devs start releasing more roms! Flashing AOKP for now though.

The title does say "Odin flash", anyways, flash it just like you flash CWM.
Hope this helps.

Just to clarify, is this just the ROM or does it also include stock recovery?

Short answer......yes
Long answer............
please do some addition before publicly looking for answers.
1 Stock= factory, unmodified folders
1 Root= added files into system folder, xbin folder and xbin folder, modifying folders
*Root needs the files in those folders
1+1= ????
If you take this the wrong way, sorry but please my post here is too show, that reading up on this is mostly highly advised. Questions like this/these will be eliminated.
Devs/users wont get frustrated and we all stay one happy family

Yes, I confirmed that it counts this stock ROM as additional custom firmwares. Now my tab lists 3 custom firmwares so far
Ya, the dose odin keep track of the different firmwares, however when the odin rom is flashed the number is 1.
Wonder if it can changed back to no, and the firmware back to samsungs

can u install stock firmware via odin?
If it gets detected in odin, try to flash this russian firmware. It got some additional files thats not a part of official fw.
Use repartition. If it boots ok, you can just flash it with fw of your choice.

Glad to be at help.
Download and flash official firmware for your region (csc county code) and everything should be fine unless you have a custom binary count.

[Q] What to do/how to root?

My device is GS3 mini. And I have 4.1.2 Android Version, with a XXAMA3 bbv.
How do I root it? Is it normal that I just root normally by Odin3?
And if I did that, am I done or what? And how do I get ROMs for that version?
Thanks. By the way, I am still new to this forums.
