Considering we don't have an Odin compatible firmware from which to work, that would make this method impossible.

Hey guys, so I have an s3 MINI GT-I8190L and I was wondering how do I go about rooting the phone? It is currently on android version 4.1.2 JellyBean. Any help will be much appreciated, thanks in advance.
Hello, try this thread :good:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2083696
Your version is 4.1.2 and the rom suggested by Calculating Infinity is 4.1.1, so I think you will have to do a factory reset after or else you might have a lot of force close apps.

Would I need to add the PIT file in odin when flashing this or just the PDA md5 file by itself?

Heimdall somehow doesn't read my phone on my Ubuntu partition yet ADB does, yet my Win7 partition has it in reverse (Odin yes, ADB no).

My device is GS3 mini. And I have 4.1.2 Android Version, with a XXAMA3 bbv.
How do I root it? Is it normal that I just root normally by Odin3?
And if I did that, am I done or what? And how do I get ROMs for that version?
Thanks. By the way, I am still new to this forums.

Basically, you get the already rooted image, and flash it on the phone via Odin.

Yea, I guess I'll use that although I guess Odin would've been easier.
Thanks!

Hi to everyone and thanks for taking your time to read and help me out. Well I have the s4 active i537 and my firmware is ML3 4.2.2 and I keep seeing ppl go to 4.4.2 stock but none say there for my type of firmware or how to go about updating it. Some say it works just fine others say it dont let them do certaine things... I have mobile odin on my phone and im obviously rooted so any help on this topic will be well appreciated. Thanks in advance...
based on previous threads in the Q and A subforum, one can install *stock* 4.3 image *ML2* using Odin, update via wiFi to 4.4 and root using https://towelroot.com/

Do you have an AT&T i537, or was it purchased from a different carrier?

just to add another possibility but it may also have been a non-carrier purchase from phone store, unlocked device from any number of online vendors ... as in my two i537 devices from such a source, not purchased from any carrier, in case it matters.
The phone is from att but is being used on another carrier.

What version of firmware do you have, because ML3 is not an AT&T firmware?

All you need to do is flash the ML2 Odin package and then flash the NE3 OTA after that and you'll be on 4.4.2. It should only take about an hour.

Thanks a bunch I finally got my i537 on 4.4.2 also got it rooted. Possible safestrap? And any way for me to run a costume rom? I read somewhere that there's a way to load a costume kernel after it has read the stock one 1st so I'm guessing it would alow to use any costume rim but I don't know if it works the way I think it does.

Rooting any samsung rom running 5.1.1 requires a custom kernel not only the S5 mini
in fact its not kernel but a boot
I've been using the Russian method since it was released without any single problem
i have no idea why people dont trust it :/
also don't USE CF-ROOT IT WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE
i tried to use CF-ROOT and it bricked my phone
