[Q] Speed Dial not a feature of Jelly Bean? - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I used Speed Dial a lot in ICS, however after updating to JB (UK GB) it's no longer present.
Is this the same for everyone?
Thanks.

Yeah, the same here. Stupid move on Google's part. Voice dial misspells my last name, so I can't tell it to call anyone in my family. I'm looking for a new full screen dialer now.

I use exDialer which looks and works great and supports speed dials.
you can also choose different skins.

Dialer one also a good app to replace original one and it really good handles the t9 searching solution.

also wondering the same..since SGS II has their ICS leaked testing firmware with video call, can that be ported to SGS I......
3G calling isn't included as part of AOSP, it's added by Samsung as part of their customization.
Not sure what is required to port it, might be dependent on a part of Touchwiz. Some people are working on getting TW framework running on ICS. You might get lucky in the future.

[Q] Dialer FC's all the time

Good evening everyone.
I have been using ICS ROMS for the past 5 or so months and I am generally very happy with my Galaxy S. However, there seems to be one issue that i assume many other people probably face.
The Stock dialer FC's a lot! And I mean A LOT. If I leave the t9 function on, it FC's every time I reopen the dialer to make a call. If I disable t9, it crashes every 10 phonecalls.
This bug exists in all the ICS ROMs I have tried and it makes me wonder whether I am the only one this is happening to, or if there other people out there.
BTW I am currently using Tiramisu Rom with Semaphore 0.91 kernel.
Thanks for any help,
Tepes4
I can join to this question, and that its not related to kernel.

I know it is not the kernel, and also it is not the ROM. I have tried all the ICS variants that exist and this issue is present in every single one of them.
I even tried switching to another dialer but that is not a solution obviously...

Ics contact pics

HI ! All ICS pics are very smudgy and not clear ( unlike in MIUI roms which are of great quality ) so is there any ics out there with good quality pics for contacts and does not always " unfortunately the music has stopped" crashes ? Tried almost all ics roms but after a few days they all seem to crash or dialler acts funny ( can't record or delete calls while talking calls or even receive a call when at times the reply button starts jumping and so on......) So pls, can someone recommend some nice ics rom or shall I stick to my XXJW4 gb and wait for XXLPH ?

ICS pic badges
The contact photos you assign in ICS are sent to your Google Contacts account and are compressed enough to be visible for emails in gmail and such.
The dialer just zooms in on them, and that's why they're pixelated.
You have two options on what to do.
1) Just edit the contact and apply the HD pic of your choice.
2) go to your contacts.google.com, and change the contact photos there, so it'll be downloaded on your next flash with a higher resolution.
thanks ! I will look into it now ! Rgds.

[Q] ICS - is it worth the upgrade?

Hi Guys,
I want some feedback regarding ICS update. Is it worth it? I am on Rogers (Canada). Any one experience ghost call/sms? How stable is it?
I would appreciate any feedback?
Thanks
A lot of users are having difficulty with the base band working. There's a thread about it in the optimus forums. My son uses mine to play angry birds. Wifi works well. I think someone mentioned problems with Bluetooth connections. As with most things your mileage may vary.

Mine runs ics great a little lag at times but pretty good working it all out though

From my experience MMS sucked, the camera was buggy, and there's a lot of Korean bits left in it. I think GB Prometheus ROM has it beat by a long shot to be honest. If you like working on Android you'll enjoy it cause you will be doing a lot of it.

It charges the phone a lot faster, battery's charge lasts longer than before while not using the phone.
Once you have flashed the baseband with the fastboot procedure (because once you have flashed the ICS rom you lose the GB download mode) and once you have deleted all the Korean T, Nate and SKT bloatware, it runs pretty great...HOWEVER!!!
You ARE NOT going to be able to adjust the brightness while watching 3d videos or movies while using the stock player...
You ARE NOT going to be able to use the 3D Converter as you used to with GB because IT DOES NOT TRANSFORM ANY GAMES TO 3D!!!
The CAMERA PROBLEM!!!
Some games are not running like they should (ocassional slowdowns not present while using GB) even if they are in 2D and you have most of the telephone's ram free.
Everything else appears to be working fine.
So far I've had great results with wifi, sms, and phone on straight talk in USA. Wish I could say for Rodgers. There is a thread here that discusses working basebands for the O3D and the Thrill. you should check it out.

Need a detailed stock JB review

I am among those who waitrd and shouted so much about this upcoming JB.
I never tried a leak version and waited for the official release. Now that there are 3 baseband versions of official stock JB. I flashed it but didnt like it much. I like the older GB and ICS UI. The new UI is making my screen look small.
The only one thing i like in the new update is the multi window. I as told that spen will be better in this update but my spen is way better on ics. I can occassionally feel a lag and ram usage is always on the higher side, which makes me wonder if the new update is worth having.
Cant we just port the desired feature on our ics. Since the source code for the JB is out.
I want u people who are using stock JB to share their experience with the update

I love it, its amazing how battery life is saved with squeaky save clean install, butter not as nexus but still ok, phonecall/reception uncompromized for my unit. Exynos bug still there.
New features once used to it awesome. for the rest read entire thread above.
