Yeah. .thats true,Samsung always get very late in updates ...I mean look at tge jb fpr s2 hpwuch it takes.
I was thinking couldn't we port a rom from the nexus 4 fpr example to our phones?

Considering Android5 KLP could be announced in May...
I would expect that the S3 Models will get that in October (hopefully!)
I would be all for Samsung skipping 4.2 if it means we get 5.... Just speculation

Well i didnt find any informations by samsung, thats only thing i saw once.. About Android 4.2 and 5 i think we should get both of them...

I think we could port it, but i would like to have premium suite (if we get it for our devices) and i dont think that you can install it manually on every device, at least not for now.

Isn't it a problem for porting, that there is a ST-Ericson U8420 (NovaThor) CPU on board? Found a post in the cyanogenmod forum about it (sorry cant link to the outside yet, for its the first post in this forum, and i need 10 ).

Samsung is obligated to develop new firmwares for 2 years after they launch a new device. So I'm guessing there will be a 4.2 update.

Sorry for being too annoying about this kind of threads, but i'm really impatient to see the JB update for méxico, and i want to update it officialy because it's new and i don't want to lose warranty... And i dont know if it will have problems with regions or that kind of things, somebody know, most accurately if the update will me released in January or March?

I know but i was referring to any aproximate, but why? Samsung did not especificate regions, and they said that the update would be in January... Are they racists :v? Just kidding, why will it take so long just for bugs?
not racist,firmware needs to be signed by country's HQ,So takes 4-5 month globally.

So I read online that jb 4.2.2 is beginning to be pushed out to s3 devices round about now though im not sure if it includes lte version. Any1 had an update yet? Im u.k and its not showing up yet in sammobile

Thats an old post 31 st May and plainly wrong as have been all the other we get 4.2.2 posts .
It will be posted here 30 seconds after it drops whenever that is .
Post also says wrongly SGS3 will not get KLP .

So have the Google edition phones already been given the 4.3 update? If so that's pretty awesome, was a little curious as to how often they have old get updates from Google seeing as how, at least the s4, has a lot of Samsung drivers and such. I'm sure the HTC does as well.

There has been leaks for the S3 getting 4.3 so it might be closer than we think. Considering the S4 does have the Google Edition phone with 4.3 already.

Voice should just be build.prop edits because the ril binaries are compatible with the carrier versions (I know because we used blobs from the 4.2.2 GPE rom to fix radio on the Sense port)

Yeah they definitely are compatible. There is something else going on in the framework or apps. I've tried everything that I had done in the past to get data working on other 9505 ROMs.
I still have a lot to dig through still though.

Only gsm have Google edition. Thus CDMA (Sprint , Verizon ) have ports.

Its not a fake but its not a 4.2.1 version. Its a normal 4.1.2 version so its a mistake from the site.

The 4.3 update is most probably going to be crap... From what some people are saying in other forums. Its just an updated 4.1.2... 4.2.2 was a better update as they integrated s4 stuff into it.
