[Q] Fast Charge Ability with Kernels/Roms? - Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G

Are any of the kernels or roms for our phone have the fast charge ability? I remember flashing a rom a while back that had it, but I dont have the time right now to fly through flashing a crap ton of roms lol.

Sometimes wrong with my diamond!!

I Have A HTC Diamond Stock Rom (CDMA) But the problem is my battery is pathetic..it only last barely over an hour at the most if i'm continually talking! And when it goes dead, i cant charge it and talk on it at the same time or send texts as it's not enough power to run..it basically just drains slower than normal instead of gaining.. It takes well over four hours to charge completely, and even then its dead after an hour or so of talking! I keep the backlight on the lowest settings...and i keep my bluetooth off. About 6-7months ago i got a new replacement phone, but they made me keep the original battery i had from my defective phone, so I dont know if its the battery or the actual phone. So what next?? Can Sprint give me a new battery for free ??Or should i get a whole new phone?? Would a new battery solve my problem??? I Just know that somethings not right here!!
"Stock" is the problem. The original stock rom has horrible battery life. If you want to stay stock, you can at least see if you are running the newest stock rom (HTC did have an update I think). Otherwise I recommend trying out one of the ROMS the devs come up with.... they all beat stock (well usually). Make sure to read up on flashing to new ROMs before jumping head first....
You can also change out your radio ROMS which can help battery life/heat issues too.
try looking at cooked roms. i have switched to custom roms and havent looked back.

[Q] Longest battery life ROM?

Hi,
I'm looking for a FroYo 2.2.1 custom ROM which has the longest battery life.
I'm currently using CyanogenMilestone and I can't use my phone during a full day (even in sleep mode).
I don't care about smoothness or anything else.
Which one is the best?
- The FroyoMOD
- Cyanogen Milestone
- Milestone MIUI
- other?
Has anyone tried The FroyoMOD and/or Milestone MIUI and can tell me how many days it lasted?
Thanks.
the best is
motofroyo sense but it bit sluggish
then MIUI
then others like froyo mod n hono froyo
Cronos lasts for a day and a half maybe... I would consider it Cyan-lite hahaha
Honestly though, the eclair mods are much better on battery life. I run TelusLite V5 and I get around 50 - 60 hours on normal use.
Hi. As you said you're running custom 2.2.1. You did reboot after charging (no matter of power or usb)? The 2.2.1 kernel has a bug that prevents it going into the sleep correctly. This can be avoided with rebooting after disconnecting from charger.

Thanks guys, I'll try MotoFroyo Sense and MIUI and then I'll let you know.

[Q] Battery life has gone down the drain, plus lots of bugs. WHY?

I've had my captivate for over a year now, with mixed results.
Honestly i love the phone, and if i could work out my issues, probably can go another year without having to get a new phone.
My biggest problems are the battery, and the bugs.
When i bought my phone my battery life was ok. When i finally put a custom rom on and re-calibrated my battery, i would go as far as to say it was pretty good. (I even have a screen shot from the good ol days when i would go to work, and come home, and it would say something like - unplugged for 11 hours, and i would be at ~70 percent)
Now on an average day, i leave for work at about 630 and when i get out at 2 its usually down to 20-30 percent. I actually own 2 captivates and its the same case with both of them.
I dont understand what is different now from before. Ive actually tried the old roms which i got such good battery life from (serendipty 6.2 i think, and cognition) and still its terrible now.
I have recently used apex, cyanogenmod, miui, GR12, and maybe a few other, all with terrible battery and bugs.
Thats the next issue, the bugs are getting to a point where the phone is almost unusuable.
Many times google voice has just failed on me. Ill get out of work and see no texts, my data will work, so i figured theres no problem, but then ill restart my phone and everything will come in.
Im currently using apex, so thats my biggest problem with bugs, but cyanogenmod/miui were really bad.
Then theres the ugly, which is when my battery goes in super drain mode. Itll go down 1 percent every 2-3 mins sometimes, and the only way to halt the super drain is to plug it in for a few mins
I dont get what the difference is from then to now, but i was wondering if anyone else experiences these issues.
Maybe its the way im flashing or something, i dont really know anymore.
Any suggestions?
Have you seen which process/app is eating your battery? Could possibly be an app from market causing this
what is it you need from a custom rom? i've found i get the best battery life and stability from stock samsung roms, ie KH3. CM7 was wiped about 15 minutes after flashing.. it seems very experimental on the captivate, definitely no way i'd be able to use that as a daily rom
I had the same issue when i was using CM7. more battery drain on standby. Now i m using KH3, there is no battery drain on standby.
Try KH3 based ROM, if you are losing battery on standby
Well havent tried a KH3 rom yet, but i think apex is js7 based, which is an official rom.
I agree CM7 was very buggy, but ive seen the same with apex.
Honestly I used to get awesome battery life with cognition, and i reflashed that same rom, and now it sucks.
The only apps i have installed are:
adobe reader
beautiful widgets
colornote
docs 2 go
google voice
maps
pandora
screenshot
titanioum backup
zeam launcher
My biggest reasons for using a custom rom are:
tethering
adblocking
not as laggy (RFS)
screenshots
maybe a few more
I would glady give it up though if i could get some good battery life, and no bugs.
Am i better off just going back to stock jf6 and letting my phone update automatically?
Or should i try out a kh3 based rom? or just KH3 Stock?
i'm getting the best battery life from kh3. js7 is an i9000 rom that is not specifically optimized for the captivate so it may not be as good as kh3. regarding reasons for custom roms, i have all of that (except RFS) on the stock rom using these apps: adfree, screenshot er, open garden wifi tether -- all work great
Js7 is froyo.
apex is jvr gingerbread.
Both I9000 firmware.
Idk what you mean by "optimized for our device" but let me just say from personal experience that porting I9000, we don't just grab a firmware and theme it. There is coding to make it work. Plus I9000 has this thing called SOURCE CODE so that you can have a much more customizable kernel, instead of the time it takes to reverse engineer a kernel and then try to add things to it.
All in all custom roms will always be better than stock, because they take stock and improve on it. Also there is no such thing as bug free as every one uses their phone differently with different apps that may effect the phone in odd ways. You will have to just experiment and see what works best for you and your phone.

i don't see how a modified i9000 (J**) rom/kernel could ever have better battery life or general stability than a stock K** rom on the captivate. the way i look at it, there is a great value in having root on the phone, but not so much in having a custom rom. i just haven't stumbled on any rom that will give me a better experience than stock while at the same time keep the battery life. i've tried quite a few.
this is coming from a standpoint where battery life and stability are a priority

Does the ICS beta roms have the same battery discharge as gb

Just curious if anyone is running a ICS beta or RC and how the charge issue is with gb Samsung screwed up to save the battery and never held 100% when charged over night I am hoping that be ICS is built from source or cm9 that this issue is fix I hate waking up to 70% battery after unplugging from charger over night.
Thanks

From the little i used the earlier versions,i didn't see the charge bug. You should try one of the i897gb leaks. They also don't have the charge bug. The kk4 builds are very stable.
Thanks I'm running Saurom 2.3.6 I9000 with the cappy fix kernel I have always run an I9000 rom since froyo as i get much faster internet speeds with hspda and hsuda with the I897 roms I only get 3g speeds. I live with the GB battery "feature" from Samsung for the better speed was just hoping ICS would not have that "feature"

You know I9000 modems only have better upload. I897 modems do get HSDPA just not HSUPA. In my experience I897 leaks have great battery life. ICS's don't have as good imo.
Thanks I will try ICS 4.0.3 if anything goes wrong or I don't like it I can always flash back to my rom will make nandroid backup and copy to my computer in case I want to flash back. I flashed to the 1st beta but had issues on my part had to flash back to gb stick then nandroid restore as ICS uses a different file system type.

Right now I'm at 16% with 32 hrs of moderate use on the 1st battery cycle.
There is no charge "issue", and in fact I've never heard of that or experienced it. The battery life on teamhacksungs ICS has greatly improved since it first came out

Don't worry too much about the percentages reported by the phone, even if they drop quickly or are very low. The phone is only guessing the percentage based on battery stats it collects. I've had my reported battery percentage drop like a rock at first, then slow down quite a bit at very low percentages, resulting in reasonable usable battery life even as the phone warned me to plug in the charger.
The closest thing to a real test is to let the battery discharge until the phone shuts itself off.
Thanks I'm going to try to find extra time today to flash my phone

Well I flashed back to my Gb rom had issues with 4.0.3 source after reboot. Loved the rom fixed the buttons titanium restored my app was very happy until reboot it kept hanging on kernel screen let sit 30 min on that screen no go. Had to cwm wipe cache and factory to reinstall a kernel but then lost my data and apps rebooted with not restoring same issue any ideas why. Thanks

Compared to stock or say Cyanogen mod i would say its alot better. Compared to MIUI I would say its about the same.
MIUI and CM7 are the same ROM, MIUI is themed. That is the only difference, no battery differences!
^this. Battery difference felt is modem & kernel combination. Thats it.

[Q] how to clear phone

I've got a rooted galaxy note, and have been using a few different roms recently,
i stuck with 1 certain rom and the battery is fine, lasting me a full day easily.
but recently after changing roms a few times, it dont matter which rom i use, my battery dies really quickly.
so, my question is....
could this be because i've changed roms a few times?
and is there a file or something i can go into and erase all the stuff i dont use on the phone?
I'm lost as to why my phone dies so quickly now.
this isn't due to flashing of many different roms. i have flashed 9 roms in a single day! the problem here is maybe the roms that you flashed are making the phone run on high cpu speeds thus rendering a bad battery performance. i'll strongly recommend you the 4.2.2 supernexus rom by faryaab. it is very limited in functionality but it is a bug-free stable rom which provides an excellent battery performance
