I have recently purchased a Nyko playpad and like many other users installed the playground app that is advertised on the box. Big mistake. The app didn't work AND the playpad stopped pairing properly with my Nexus 7. I googled and discovered that many people had similar problems and the only way fix was to factory reset my nexus. I did that and all was fine for a couple hours. Then the playpad stopped pairing again! This time I decided to try and find a way to reset the Nexus's bluetooth settings without a factory reset. I succeeded and these are the results.
You can now fix the pairing issue between your nexus 7 and Nyko playpad without a factory reset or even a device restart. This may also work for other bluetooth devices with similar problems. (Like the playpad pro)
Make sure your device is rooted before trying this or it simply won't work. Also make a note that I'm running stock android 4.2.1 jelly bean. For other devices and/or android versions look below.
Also I am not responsible for any damage done to your device. Especially, that which could be caused by deleting the wrong directory.
First open a terminal and then type these commands.
Code:
su
rm -rf /data/misc/bluedroid
pkill com.android.bluetooth
Basically these commands give you root permissions, delete your bluetooth configuration data, and restart android's bluetooth service so that it reloads (or in this case resets) your bluetooth data.
Now your playpad will pair correctly with the nexus 7. I suggest you make a script out of these commands for ease of use. I am sure you will need to use them again.
FOR OTHER DEVICES/ANDROID VERSIONS:
These commands should be able to easily be adapted to other devices. Just find the directory that has your bluetooth configuration data and delete it. On jelly bean it is apparently /data/misc/bluedroid but for other android versions it could be slightly different. Use a root file browser to find it. But I think most people will be able to find their bluetooth configuration somewhere in /data/misc.
Also the name of your bluetooth process may not be the same. To find it type "ps" in a terminal. It will spit out a whole lot of text. Look at the names on the right and try to find "com.android.bluetooth." If its not there find something similar and substitute it in the pkill command.
Enjoy your gamepad.
Thank you. I was literally just hours away from returning this to Gamestop. Paired but wouldn't connect. This method worked perfectly. Not the best controller I ever used but at least now I have functioning controller for my nexus 7. Thanks again.

You are very welcome. I was beginning to worry that nobody was ever going to use this.
Your a star mate, I was having this problem also and it was most frustrating. TYVM.
THANK YOU! This was killing me. Tried a bunch of other hits on google and this was the one that worked.
Gah, really wish i'd seen this before factory restting my tablet glad someone found a non-destructive fix though, i tried erasing cache and dalvik cache to to avail either. will have to rememberer this one. Really hope Nyko find a fix for this, or google, whichever side is at fault. it's a great controller and one of the first few of it's kind (connectivity wise at least) and would hate to see it dive-bomb because of a Bluetooth glitch.
Also mine was working fine for a few days, it wasn't until after i installed the playground app that things went belly up, not sure if their related or not.
Excellent!
I rooted just for this. Now I just need to find a way to get it to run on reboot...

use tasker to run script at boot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10192542 like there
There are a few tools that can run a script at boot, Script Manage and ROMToolbox to name two. Perhaps one of these would be better because their features match your other needs or you already own one.

Hi has anyone found a working Bluetooth gamepad for the TAB?
I know that the Zeemote works (I have one), but its not quite the gaming experience that Im looking for, Im looking for a gamepad for playing genesis/snes/nes etc emultors and for that the one hand zeemote does not really work.
I was on the hunt for something like this too to play emu games. The only thing I could find was the MSI BGP100 which doesn't appear to exist any longer, nor would it work all that well (IMO) with the SGT since it was designed for phones back in the day.
Ive got the msi bgp100 and have the app of the market and donated for full version and it works perfectly with snesoid, nesoid, psxdroid and genoid.
They are hard to find nowadays though lol.

What app did you install to get your wiimote working?

Which app did you install from the market if any to setup and pair the wiimote? I installed wiimotecontroller from the market but when i use the init function it never finds my wiimote. I also tried to pair it with using wireless settings and it finds my wiimote but always asks for a pass or pin? Just in case you were wondering, my bluetooth setting was on.

As with the SGS the Wii remote does not work with the SGT with the original firmware. You can get the Wii Remote working on the SGS with Cyanogen CFW.
Is there a firmware build etc that would support the wiimote?
Is it just that Cyanogen has added a bluetooth profile that the SGS/T devices don't have? Do you know what that would be? It might be something as simple as modifying the bluez config files on the device. If I get a chance I'll mess with it tonight.

I have thought of the next best thing: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.45604
Im thinking of ordering one of those and customizing it to only contain the buttons that are needed for gaming. Since the TAB does have bluetooth profiles for BT-keyboards and mice. (My DiNovo mini works perfectly, but its a little bit too expensive to rip to atoms)

I got a wiimote today, tellme what to do. And I will test it.
I'm not sure that this issue is due to anything more then the Tab being hard coded to require a PIN and not being able to skip it...
When I try using WiiController (demo) it stops trying to search immediately, and I don't have Root so the RWiimote fails as well
when I go into Bluetooth settings and search I can see the wii-mote, I can connect to it however it is prompting me for a PIN which the Wii-mote doesn't support. There is no way around this pin code request so my connection fails everytime
If the Bluetooth software is designed to not allow connections without a PIN then I don't see how it can work with any software unless its designed to bypass the PIN requirement?
or I may just be missing something
Sorry to bring this one back to life again, but did anyone get the a wiimote working with the tab successfully?
I'm having the same problem Dredly, it just asks for the pin and you can't continue.
Wondering if anyone has successfully pair an Apple Wireless Keyboard with NC via bluetooth? I just ordered on on the cheap and now am nervous it may not work. Anyone?
Bluetooth work is still in development. Check the Dev forum for the bluetooth thread - the latest info I've seen shows a video of a NC paired with a BT keyboard and working quite well.

How much did you pay for it? I am also looking to get the apple wireless keyboard.
The bluetooth apple keyboard worked for me. The connection seemed fine but I didn't test the range.

It should work. When you get to pairing, make sure you type a code into the keyboard (say, 1234) and then type the same thing into the text field that pops up on the NookColor and say OK. It should pair up from there.
Hope that makes sense!

Funny.
There's a guy on eBay selling refurb units. When all's said and done, you'll be paying about $50 ---- which is much better than $70 plus tax.
I got my Apple Wireless Keyboard today and I've successfully paired and connected it to my NC. I'm typing this update on it right now. This is the latest gen keyboard (the one that takes 2AA batteries).

Well I bought a slightly defective Apple Keyboard (the i key needs a hard press and I'll take it to the local Genius bar)
I've cross tested the keyboard on my laptop and it seems to me that the Bluetooth on the NC is a bit buggy.
I get a lot of repeat keeeeeeeeeys when I hit a single key. This appears to happen at random, but does not happen on the laptop.
If I backspace, it will often wipe entire sentences. Again, no such issue with the laptop.
There is also a bit of lag - keys entered take a moment to appear when entered.
I'm runnng CM7 stable version.
Any suggestions or comments?
i have both the 3 battery and 2 battery apple keyboards. The older 3 battery keyboard will connect and pair but won't type anything. the newer 2 battery ones work fine. connects and pairs but lets me type as well (no doubt the point)
so get the newer ones and you'll be fine.
Yep, I can type okay as have a two battery version, just these random bugs that I don't get with my laptop.
I'm thinking that its down to the Bluetooth software on the Nook.
Anyone else have a view?
so, do you have to be running CM7 to get bluetooth working?
also...would this keyboard work for any android device? I actually do a bit of typing on my phone (editing documents via dataviz docs to go), and as such I need my physical keyboard (still have d1). Then again, I could do my doc editing on the nook (i currently don't cause I hatehatehate onscreen keyboards)
it's not working on mine
i'm running CM 7 on my nook color and it was able to pair with the keyboard (apple). and said connected as HID device, yet i couldn't type anything. i tried using the bluetoothJP but it was unsuccessful. I read an article about updating the kernel, i did update the kernel and now my NC won't start at all.. any suggestion?

do you have the old 3 battery version or the newer 2 battery one. I'm guessing the 3 battery one. if you have the former it most likely won't work. my 3 battery won't work on cm7 but my newer one will. bt is still a bit buggy so maybe this will change once the new .32 kernel is stable. I haven't heard or seen of reports of the newer 2 battery ones not working. what version of cm7? 7.0.3 stable? I've run mine on 7.0.1 and 7.0.2
ahhhh.. no wonder... i dont know that there are two version of apple keyboard.... i guess i have to wait.. i run the 7.0.3

Please explain, i've tried it so many different ways and nothing still works.
I'm using a Rocksoul apple type BT keyboard (http://www.myrocksoul.com/bluetooth-keyboard-bk-series.html) I got from Fry's for $34, and it seems to be working fine (incidentally the RS website says they have an android version but I can't find it anywhere).
I assume that since it's designed for the ipad, it shares many of the pros/cons of that device. Here is my quick summary after using for several days:
* It pairs just fine as long as I typed the same access code on both the nook and keyboard (as instructed by a previous message).
* I have to turn off wifi when using BT.
* The biggest annoyance is when the screen times out, I lose BT access. The best way I've found to reconnect is to reboot my nook, which is a hassle in the middle of a meeting.
* I use Inkpad to type in the notes, and it is annoying when the onscreen keyboard pops up (have to touch the onscreen back key to make it disappear).
* I can't seem to find a way to have capslock stay on. So to type a word in all caps, I have to shift each character.
* The keyboard has many apple-specific keys that do not seem to work with the nook including: option, command, control, or all of the function keys.
* Surprisingly, the volume up/down key works.
* The arrow keys work, but not in the order I expected. I have to reorient myself when using (eg. "left" means "up")
Overall, for the price this is a good keyboard. I also invested in a $14 ipad stand that I use to prop up my nook and it works nicely (http://www.targus.com/au/product_details.asp?sku=AWE65US)
Using latest CM7 nightly 177.
I have the logitech bluetooth keyboard for ipad and have been using it for several months. BT and wifi work at the same time. I have not had the disconnect issues described with this kbd but I have my screen timeout set to 30 minutes. I am currently running cm7.1 nightly 160 as I was experienceing wifi disconnects frequently with newer nightlies. Not sure what the issue is but 160 is rock stable for me. The key mapping is the same for logitech kbd as for the apple kbd. Most of the function keys are screwy but all the regular keys and number keys work well. There is a problem with the caps key but not a major issue for me. The logitech kbd was $69.00 so a bit higher than most but this is a very solid kbd. The android model came out a few weeks after this one but I decided to stick with this one as it does it's job for me. I use this kbd in conjunction with usb host mode so I can use a logitech usb mouse as well. Overall, the combination works well.

I have three, semi-related questions:
1) For some reason the "Games" tab on my home screen wont load. I can get into the Apps tab just fine, and all of my games boot without an issue, but the dedicated tab that only shows games (along with friends, saves, and achievements) won't open. I try to open it and it crashes. I did a factory reset and it was fine for a while, then it stopped working again. Any ideas?
2) Is it possible to get a Bluetooth controller working with the Fire HD 8.9? I don't know what it would work with, but some of these games are just atrocious with a touchscreen. Are there any options out there for this? Preferably more affordable ones. I have a couple Dualshock 3s lying around. Don't know if those could work.
3) How safe is it to root these days? I tried rooting in December and it bricked my Kindle. Followed all the steps from one of the stickied threads here (forget which one) to the letter and it literally broke my UI. Couldn't slide down from the top, couldn't get into settings, nothing. Had to send it back to Amazon. All I want is Google Play. If the bootloader was unlocked, I'd love stock 4.2 (or CM 10.1), but I can wait on that. How far has the community come since then? Is it safe to root now?
Thanks for any help you guys can give. I really appreciate it.
Root is virtually the same, read the entire threads, most succeed
Bt controllers work with root moga controller does anyway as does psx ive read...

Hello everyone,
I'm asking for some help with my Nexus 6 (64GB Unlocked White, Verizon, running stock 5.1 LMY47E rooted)
I cannot for the life of me get my Nexus to transfer files ( .jpg pictures, .pdf, etc) to my Macbook Pro (late 2011 17") via bluetooth
I've included some screenshots of the errors I'm getting.
I have tried numerous times to get it to work. I've done various Google searches regarding this problem, which hasn't helped at all.
Now here's the weird thing.......
I bought my Nexus 6 last month (April, 2015) and I got bluetooth file transfer to work with my Macbook Pro initially. However, my MBP had its logic board fail (mid April) and I had to send it to Apple to get it replaced. Long story short, after throwing in a brand new Samsung 500GB SSD and doing a fresh install of Mavericks 10.9.5, I cannot get my Nexus to send files to my Macbook Pro. I've tried files other than the various .jpg pictures I want to send, such as .pdf, but they fail as well in the Outgoing Transfers folder in bluetooth.
I CAN get my Macbook to send files TO my Nexus and it accepts them, it's just the sending files from my Nexus to my Macbook that always fails. I use this function ALL the time to transfer photos to my Macbook from my Nexus, I hate having to get a USB cord and manually do it. I grew accustomed to this with my old Galaxy Nexus.
I should mention I was running Mountain Lion 10.8.5 before I had to send my Macbook in for repair. Yet I'm fairly confident this isn't the problem, given I can send files from my Macbook to the Nexus, but not vice versa.
I tried deleting the plist file for bluetooth on my Macbook, then shutting down the laptop, then restarting. This did not fix it.
I've tried clearing the bluetooth cache in apps on my Nexus, then rebooting...... this did not work.
I'm at my wits end here with options.
I do not understand why I can't get files to go through to my Macbook, yet I can get files to go from my Macbook to my Nexus 6.
I get a connection error when I try and send a file from my Nexus to my Macbook, screenshot below.
Any help with this problem would be appreciated.
I don't know what to do..
Thank you-
***UPDATE***

You have to first pair the Nexus to the Macbook, then go into
System Preferences-Sharing-then check "Bluetooth Sharing"
*Once you do this, you can transfer files from your Nexus to your Macbook

Hello,
I am asking if someone have some experience with AA Mirror (MirrorLink for not officially supported phones) on XZ1 Compact.
I am basically asking if someone have tried it, if it works or works reliable or not. Usage will be simple only for GPS navigation - Sygic. Nothing more.
Reason is that to get AA Mirror on XZ1 Compact i need to root and unlock bootloader on quite a new phone, that still have about 14 months of remaining warranty period. So I would like to know if its worth of it.
Any info will be appreciated!
I'd like to know this, too. I was going to get a MirrorLink screen this week until I realized this phone probably doesn't support it natively...anyway, does AA Mirror do anything non-rooted?

I havent tried it, but since it needs low level USB access, I am sure it wont do anything, maybe not even install.
Problem is that MirrorLink support is really weak. Sony does not support it at all, and e. g. Samsung only on flagship models.
I still guess that I have to try it, not really appreciate it. I hoped that this forum section is more alive.
I have been using AA Mirror daily for the past 3 months. About one or two times a week the connection to Android auto is lost and I have to replug the phone in, or my car stops responding to touch response. This usually doesn't happen when I use regular AA apps. That's about the only issue I have and I haven't tried changing settings to fix it because it doesn't happen too often, everything works well enough for me to keep using it.
Edit: I'm actually using AAStream, a version that should fix some bugs

Were there any special steps for getting it work ? Except of root of course.
Ok, I just realized that this isn't actually MirrorLink. It's just outputs Android Auto, not MirrorLink. OP, you got my hopes up for nothing...
Anyway, my searching indicates that non-rooted AA Mirror kind of works for mirroring only. The touch input doesn't, so you have to do it via the phone screen.

I know that. As far as I searched, for full and true MirrorLink you need to have manufacturer support out of the box. No one actually figured how to implement this on other phones. I guess that it requires custom kernel module or something closed source.
AA Mirror or AA Stream is sort of solution for other phones, but it works as screen mirroring utility only (you have to control everything from phone, not from car). I really dont mind, especially for GPS I always set up destination or changing it while not driving. So basic screen mirror is enough.
I already installed AA Stream / AA mirror and it really requires root. Without it doesnt work, which I have expected.

Yes all on XZ1 compact. And no special steps, but have to add I'm on the LineageOS rom. Just never have been able to get Netflix working as they block screen output to another screen, but that's a different issue. It's not perfect, but it's the easiest thing I have been able to do after rooting my phone. I have way more issues with banking or McDonald's apps than with AA Stream Still worth it though. In fact so worth it I refused a free iPhone from work as I rather keep my compact for these 'features'
So I just got a car radio that supports mirroring over both USB debugging and MirrorLink and it works perfectly without root! Including touch input via the car's screen. The radio says MirrorLink ("P-Link"), but I assume it's doing it through USB debugging. Which makes sense, since that's the same way most Android remoting programs work on PC. I haven't tested the audio but I assume that works, too. It has a huge 7 inch screen and was pretty cheap, so it'll be perfect for navigation.

I am also considering LineageOS 16.0 RC6, because if I understand properly, that if you dont backup DRM keys you will loose official Camera and other functionalities after root.

Lucky you!
But this will probably not work on stock car display unit (like original 7" Toyota system) which almost all supports MirrorLink only. I will try it You have some additional app for that? Or just checked Dev. options on and all OK?
No additional app. Just USB debugging enabled.
