Cheers,
I'm in a bit of a bind here. I'm trying to flash Ultimate Rom, im coming from Kingdroid 5.1 an old ICS Rom.
Anyways, while I was preparing to flash I did a nandroid backup, however, I noticed that whenever it's trying to backup /system, the phone restarts.
So I decided to just bite the bullet and proceed without a nandroid backup. So what I did next is flashed Philz kernel, again after waiting for sometime the phone restarted and went into Kingdroid's boot animation, thinking that Philz may not work with KD I just hit on the VolUp + Power + Menu to get into recovery, to my surprise, I was greeted with Philz recovery. So I now tried to do Factory data/reset and seems to have worked. Next I went into Mounts and Storage hoping to format /cache, /system, /data. Went to format /cache, went fine so far so good, next format /system, uh oh, after sometime, again, the phone restarted and went into KD boot animation, again, I just went into recovery. Again I tried to format /system and again the phone restarted.
After that I gave up scared that my phone is now bricked, but to my surprise it booted into KD as if it was newly flashed. What gives? What's happening here? Seems that I still have root too because Titanium Backup works and am able to restore ES File Explorer.
I hope somebody can shed light to this issue, thanks in advanced.

Are you able to access download mode? Volume down + home + power button of zes flash a stock ROM p. Ex N7000XXLRK with odin
Sent from my N7000XXLSC with Carbon ROM from toxic-thunder Thanks Buddy for this epic ROM!
I haven't tried that and honestly I'm dead scared to give it a try until I know what is going on.

Might be a bad flash.
give odin a try it's the oasis for you if you think nothing can't be done to make your phone good as stock..! goodluck and happy flashing

I remember now why I stayed with KingDroid5 and not upgrade to the later versions, its because of this same issue. So when I flash through odin, ill be back on stock right?
Yes if you flash rom using odin.. it will be stock., ICS stock kernels are not safe so.,. you will need to immediately flash a custom kernel like philz.
Thanks for the help. I will probably wait till I get the courage to do all over again, or maybe I could wait till samsung officially releases JB.
Thanks again.

Hello All,
I rooted for the first time my Note 2 weeks ago, just with the Basic CMW and proper root to my kernel. It worked fine, but I wanted more, so I decided to try RR by Eybee.
Downloaded the RR v20, passed it to my SD Card.
I wiped the phone through CMW.
Flashed the .zip file.
I'm now stuck on the initial loading screen of Rocket Rom, it just keeps restarting.
I know I ****ed up someway, and would really appreciate someone's help...
Ty
I hope you did a nandroid back up in recovery before you flashed? Because if you didn't you are indeed up creek without a paddle. It is always recommended to do a backup before you flash anything through recovery. If you didnt then go on you're computer download another rom to you're ad card go into recovery and flash it or get the original ruu rom and flash that.

No I have not.. I did full sys+data recovery through Titanium backup. I can't access CMW , to be honest I only did it through the phone itself... I can only access the Download Mode and tried to flash back the ROM I used to root the phone, which was useless.
Am I missing some really obvious way to access CMW without being able to initialize the phone?
...
Edited:
Found it:
Going to wipe, resintall root that worked and go from there ty.
Edited:
Reinstalled Rocket Rom through CMW (Up Vol+Power Button+Menu)
Wiped.
Reinstalled.
Working
Hi, I'm a noob. Flashed Rowmo yesterday and it kept freezing my system. Had to go back to crappy stock. Please help. Rowmo 5.1. Input much appreciated.

Mickwa76 you need to give more information about your phone and how you did it.
I found this on the mobilegeek site:
Please note:
The ROMOW v5 is based XKL7 then I recommend you do a full wipe. If you are using a ROM-based or KJ4 KKA backups with Titanium may not be successful or lead to problems of instability '
Installation:
For safety, let the memory of your device running a ROM
Download the ROM and put it in the memory of your device
Boot into Recovery
Do all wipe
Flashate the V5.1
Reboot and you're done
PS: The first startup may take a few minutes, so do not worry. If the boot image continues to move forward but without going into loop, remove the battery and reboot the device
And you can always try other roms

Here is step by step procedure,
1. Flash Rootable Stock ROM
2. Root and install CWM
3. Copy ROMOW 5.1 to SD card (Preferably Ext SD Card)
4. Reboot into recovery mode
5. Flash ROMOW 5.1 ROM
6. Do a clean Wipe/factory Reset
7. Wipe Cache
8. Reboot
done.
Remember first boot will take little longer time than normal.
Install another ROM, safe all your data with titanium backup for example.
Then go to CWM Recovery and flash your new CustomROM.
First Startup could take some minutes, so dont push anything, wait.
After starting, reboot it 2-3 times
Then if you want, flash a new kernel with CWM Recovery and reboot it 2-3 times again.
N7000 KKA. Backed up stock on external. Saved .zip on internal sd. Backed up apps/data. Did a factory wipe and reset using CWM. Finally flashed the RowMo rom. Took a while to start, no boot loop. Worked fine for the first 10 minutes then my Note got excessively hot and started freezing. Rebooted a few times no change. Flashed stock back. Want to try rocket but a few people on xda have complained of freezes also.

So i bought this rooted int'l note off of craigslist and it had a darkynote rom on it. I tried the power+home+vol down but it just goes to download mode even if its not connected to the pc. I went into Rom Manager and hit reboot into recovery and it worked and i was able to flash the RoMow ICS rom and now it wont let me boot into recovery from there. I tried market apps to boot, but it says that my phone is not rooted. I gave Super user permissions and everything. Last thing i tried was rooting again using the method outlined in the development thread, but it got stuck and i figure that it is because i am running ICS and not gingerbread.
Can anyone give me some help on if i am trying to boot into recovery the right way or if you have a solution?
Thanks alot
Try power button, home and volume up.

Or use the Terminal application and type;
reboot recovery
Or, plug it into a PC with the SDK installed and type;
adb reboot recovery
Or, what Stoney said.
Thanks! The vol up+Home+Power worked.
Now im having another issue though:
I tried backing up and it got stuck when it was almost done,
same with flashing any roms and restoring from a backup... Any ideas, or should post a new thread?
Look, stop doing anything else with your RoMow ICS, because you didn't install it properly, and have a partial root as a consequence. This is a known issue: you have a semi-functional rom right now, and doing a backup of it is of no use to you.
Do the following:
1. download AbyssNote 3.9 kernel from HERE | MIRROR. It's a flashable zip.
2. put this zip on your SD Card (take out your SD card and paste the zip from your PC via a card reader if no other option is possible)
3. power off your phone
4. boot into recovery (Volume up + Home + Power)
5. chose 'install zip from SD Card'
6. navigate to your Abyss kernel zip and flash it
7. go back to the Recovery start menu
8. go to advanced/reboot recovery <--- this will reboot the phone directly to recovery
9. you will discover that you now have Hyperdroid Redpill Recovery - it comes with the Abyss kernel - it's pretty much the same thing as CWMR
10. wipe cache, dalvik, do your factory reset
11. flash any GB rom you fancy or do a GB restore if you have one
thanks so much fro your help. I had no idea that i had a partial root. I will try this when i get home. Will i have to do this with every rom i flash (flash rom then kernal) or is it just this rom?
Alright so i followed the steps and i got the red recovery and flashed the romow rom again. I went back to recovery to flash the mms fix and it went back to the blue clockworkmod recovery and once again it wont let me flash anything

I think said

didn't I? Emphasis was on GB rom, as in Gingerbread, not ICS.
Every time you want to flash your first ICS rom, you must start from a gingerbread one.
It's no good trying to flash ICS over a botched ICS, it will get you nowhere.

obviously, there are steps you are not following quite well. the instructions above were quite very specific.
if i were you, i'd reinstall abyss 3.9, and reinstall a stock, rootable rom and start from scratch. or stick with stock.
I was recently using Stunner ICS but decided I wanted to go back to stock and start over. I downloaded the stock N7000XXKJ4_N7000OXXKJ4 firmware and installed it through odin. I did not receive any errors on the phone or on my PC. But now it seems like my phone is stuck in a boot loop. It just keeps showing the samsung boot animation over and over. I used the download jig to get into download mode and tried redoing the firmware twice already with no luck. One thing I did notice is that the jig is no longer resetting the binary counter. Does anyone have any other ideas or is my phone possibly bricked?
This is supposed to be in Q& A section... Anyways... Did you try wipe?

What worked for me having the same problem recently is go to Recovery mode (Volume up + home + power) and you'll see this funny kinda recovery, not at all CWM Do a data wipe/factory reset and then reboot.
Same thing happened with me yesterday, wipe in recovery fixed the problem

I'm sorry. Mods please move to appropirate section.
Thank you guys. I was beginning to freak out. I was trying to do the recovery menu but couldn't get it to work. I thought the recovery menu was also hosed but I had the wrong buttons. All is good now! thank you so much!
First thing you need to do if you want to get back GB, flash abyss 3.9 redpill kernel.
After that flash GB rom.
So later you can flash whatever kernel you want

Hanging at Samsung logo; can't boot into recovery; am I bricked???
Hi guys...
I've been semi bricked for about 18 hours now. And it's starting to look like it's a full-brick.
I had the latest Gingerbread ROCKET ROM on my Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000, with the latest Franco kernel in place.
I thought I'd give the ICS version of ROCKET ROM a go. Flashed Abyss4.2 kernel without any hassles. Used 'advanced' to boot into recovery. Did my various wipes. Flashed the ICS Rocket Rom zip. And got caught up in the recurring boot-up, mostly upgrade, run, reboot cycle that's been described in many places.
Didn't panic.
Booted into recovery again, and flashed the ICS Rocket Rom again.
But this time, it wouldn't go past the SAMSUNG logo.
Still, I could boot into recovery.
Which I did.
And I tried to restore my Gingerbread build from Nandroid.
Tried it. But it hung on the Samsung logo again.
With one key difference... Now, no matter how much I try, I can't boot into recovery.
I *CAN* boot into 'download' mode. So I've used PC Odin to try and inject a rooted Gingerbread rom into the phone.
The instructions tell me to wait for the phone to reboot twice. Sadly, it tries its first reboot, and doesn't get past the Samsung logo. And that's where it hangs. No recovery mode either.
What shall I do??? Oh, woe is me. Etcetera.
--------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE
--------------------------------------------------------
I found a version of Abyss 4.2 kernel in tar format. I flashed it via PC ODIN, and I now seem to have a phone that can boot again.
Not much more to report at the moment, cos the battery is on about 3%, so I'm charging it now before delving further. Will give more feedback once the battery's up and running again.
Here's a link to the Abyss file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1072122&d=1337500067
I tried all of this, was on stock ICS 4.0.3 and had it rooted.
I tried to restore a backup which was sadly on GB and then the restore of /data failed
I then tried to flash paranoid custom rom and it was successful but the phone never went any further than SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE GT-N7000 logo
I then Flashed a direct rootable stock rom via PC odin and all was well but the phone would never go any further than the logo before mentioned
I tried flashing AbyssNote kernel via pc odin but the CWM recovery menu kept on rebooting hence leaving me with not particular choice to select
Tried wiping data, cache mem, dalvik cache but no use and now i am on stock recovery menu. please help me out
i have this Samsung i9220 china i try to flash upgrade the firmware with Odin3 v1.85 . i got stock phone can't power non recover modem non booting logo , does anyone have any ideas ?
Right going to try explain this as full as possible.
I flashed criskelo v8 from cassies xtraliterom x lc1.
I did the following:
went into cwm-based recovery v5.5.0.4
installed abysskernel4.2redtouch
rebooted back into recovery
full wiped (data, cache and delvik)
installed criskelo v8
rebooted sysytem
and wulaaa. It worked with the s note and all.
Then decided to restore apps using titanium back up.
So i went ahead and stupidly "restored all apps with data" instead of "restoring missing apps with data"
this inevitably made chaos and repeated force closes and what not :'(
so now i'm trying flash back to cassies xtralite rom and reinstall/flash back to this same criskelo rom.
Here lies the problem though.
Every time i try installing abyss kernel 4.2 red touch (ps. also tried abyss kernel 4.2 cw original), it stops at "installing update" and my galaxy note reboots the system itself not to the cwm recovery, but back onto the same rom.
This also happens if i try using CWM RECOVERY:
fully wiping all data cache and delvik
try flashing cassies xtralite rom
Stops at "formatting system and cache" for a while and reboots the system back onto the rom.
Ive also tried going on the cwm application
going down to kernel flash,
installing abyss kernel 4.2 red touch
Result >> "Kernal flash failed"... "no zImage was found"
Somebody HELP!!!! and please try explaining in full if you know whats going on.
Thank you for reading!!!.

That happened to me once i think the prob is your system back up on titanium is lc1 based. But criskelo is lq3... My advice is without any wipe just flash criskelo again... If success dont restore system apps just user apps...

Sorry can't explain in full story, since it was 3.17 am at my country. Need take some rest and wake up about 6.30am.
From what I'm reading here, you facing partial root after ugraded from xtralite to criskelo v8.
I won't explain why this will happened. . It was long long story, you gonna search and read yourself.
Solution.
- downgrade to stock gb rom by using pc odin.
- root the stock gb rom by using dr.ketan method ( credit to dr.ketan) thank to him.
- after rooted your stock rom, then flash abyss 4.2 kernel.
-boot into recovery and do full 3 wipes and flash your favourite ics custom rom.

Right whilst thats happening, whats your opnion on why my abyss kernel may not be installing, i mean only problem i could possibly come up with is because my battery life is under 20% lol or criskelo doesnt like abyss kernel lol.
Right its done the exact same thing, stopped at the note display on cwm and rebooted back onto the phone .
My main target is to get back my s premium suit with the s note and everything, which i had with this rom and lost after i accidentally restored all apps with data instead of the other option and secondly getting this abyss kernel to get working so i can return back to cassie xtralite rom hence return back to this rom and get this s premium suit.
Extra info:
1) After downgraded to stock gb rom you might having some fc close prob or bootloop issue in 1st reboot. Don't panic, just boot into stock recovery and do full wipe, then reboot again.
2) still have few methods can let you regain the full root. You can try to look into dr.ketan thread which you can update the supersu. Or flash the bsy box installer and super user 0.93.
3. I'm not the expertise, I'm just to give some little help only. You can always wait for a while and let see what the expertise saying. Don't rush. Don't do any factory reset in unsafe kernel. Don't do any nandroid restore as well.
Good luck mate.

You can restore your snote thru titanium backup ( if you hv backup before) even under partial root).
The fastest way you can get your phone back to normal is flash hardcore kernel thru pc odin ( don't care about the binary count) and clear partition cache and wipe dalvik cahce ONLY. Then install xtralite rom. Done.
But keep in mind, the above said method won't give you full root.
