Wifi turns off when screen is off - LG Optimus 4X HD

Hey,
Two days ago my phone started to turn off the wifi connection when the screen is locked. Sometimes I even have to restart the phone to get the connection back to work.
It does not happen to the 3g connection.
I have checked all apps if any of them are causing the problems in their settings. And I don't use any battery saver apps.
Anyone had the same problems?

You've checked that the "turn off wi-fi when screen is off"-option in advanced Wi-Fi settings is set to "Never"?

Att atrix hd connectivity issues

So i have had the phone for a couple of days and recently i have been having connection problems. My data will stop working even though i have bars and the 4g lte sign is up. I have to restart my phone to get my data back connected. Not even going to settings and turning the data toggle on and off works. Any ideas

Id call att for now and see what they say...
Toggle Airplane Mode. Works for me. I have the same issue.
airplane doesn't works all times.. i prefer suspend the phone for a few seconds..
Are you using any smart actions that affect your data connection? I had the same problem before I realized that the phone automatically turned off data when connected to WiFi. I had set up a smart action to do it as well, which I think confused the device and wouldn't connect to 4G. I had to factory reset to fix it. Left smart actions out of the loop, and haven't had a problem since.
Deep rooted in the mAtrix HD...
http://android-gz.com
Yea i tried the airplane mode and nothing. I had smart actions on but then i turned them off and still have yhe problems. I think im just going to factory reset and see if it fixes the problem. The problem usually happens when im at school where in my classes i get no reception. And after class i get the bars but still wont get data and then i restart my phone and then i get the flood of notifications.

This is exactly what happens to me..
could also be lte problems... as att deploys new towers and works on em sometimes you'll have problems for no reason... which is why i would try to call att or do a factory reset, is all i can think of
I had to factory reset my atrix. I dont use the smart actions anymore and that solved my problem

Yea, I stopped using also the smart actions as they seems more stupid than smart
I will have to disagree with you, once setup properly the smart actions are great. Never had a single issue with connectivity.

[Q] Wifi connection

Hello forum! I'm having an annoying issue with my I9070: when I connect to my domestic wireless LAN the cellphone regularly accesses the Web and web-based apps work fine. But if I leave the phone inactive for, say, 10 minutes, it won't be able to access internet sources. The strange thing is that it still reports being connected to the LAN: to regain the connection I have to turn off the Wifi and turn it on again.
This is annoying because those apps that work in background can't actually access Internet and thus won't function regularly!
I've looked for solutions on the Net: I found that Android phones have troubles with WPA-PSK-protected wireless networks, such as mine; I found suggestions regarding the code *#001#* to access a debug screen where to turn off Wifi sleep mode (but for heaven's sake, I couldn't be able to find this goddamn option!); somebody suggested to switch to static IPs on the phone, to no avail.
If it can help, I have an unrooted phone with Gingerbread 2.3.6.

Yep, the setting was already checked.
I can't seem to understand if the problem is in the router or in my smartphone. Hope it's not an hardware issue.

Do you have some battery boost application installed or something else what could affect turning wireless off? If you have, try to uninstall it.

Only battery related app is Battery Widget from Elvison, and it's just a widget showing me the charge left. Don't think it could be the problem, it doesn't feature any battery saving or battery boost function.
I'm experiencing exactly the same problem, but I only have this using my home Wifi.
Looking for a solution also!
EDIT: Do you have this everywhere but also just at one specific place or router?
What brand is your router?

Sorry for the delay of my answer.
I noticed that this happens at my girlfriend's house too, and also her wireless network is protected via WPA-PSK.
My brand of router is Sitecom, while my girlfriend's is DLink.
I'm using a sitecom at home too.. Guess the problem is more in the router than on the phone.
I've already been through the routers setting but unable to find anything..

Location-based WiFi

Hi all,
Does anyone else have problems with location-based WiFi working sometimes and then not? I mainly have to turn WiFi of manually, but sometimes it does work, more often than not. I'm on three and haven't had the .434 update yet, hopefully 4.2.2 will fix this bug of mine.

Really that's why it doesn't work then, I only have data on when I need it as I nearly always have WiFi where I am....I wonder why data needs to be on for it to work, I suppose it's so it can see where I am?

It needs data on so it can pinpoint where you actually are, near a saved wifi or not.
EDIT: this feature actually works great on my phone. The Z uses very little power with 3G on while idling, so this is something I am really curious about whereas to why other manufacturers haven't tried implementing something like this on their phones.

Though in power settings under location-based WiFi there is an option for standard or advance, the advance option has worked as it turns off WiFi if there are no available networks if in the saved area...well that's what I interpreted it to do, even if that's what it should do anyway :-/

I don't understand this sentence.
I think they mean "turns off WiFi if there are no available networks in the saved area...
If it's a "saved" area, of course it will have a WLAN.. it's a SAVED area.
I don't understand the "standard" power policy either. Of course you want to keep your WIFI on in saved areas...? Why would you want it off in saved areas? Or do I have a different perception of "saved areas"?
The networks I have are called "saved networks".....so...

Wifi disconnecting problems..

Is anyone getting the wifi problems that the other versions of the Note 3 are getting? Preferably when it says the network was disconnected for being too slow or something like that? I know it happens on the T-Mobile, Verizon, and International versions.

Mine doesn't disconnect but it says wifi signal is unstable, then I looked in settings when this happens and it says wifi signal strength VERY STRONG, I'm sitting 10' from my router and I know damn well the the signal is strong as it says 72mbps. Lots of issues with wifi signals are popping up in the N3 sections, not good.
Yep, same as Quickvic30

Go to wifi advanced settings and uncheck Auto Network Switch. It appears the phone will "test" the speed of the wifi network to your 4g and picks which is faster.

Hey all,
I realized that the wireless issues were all where there are at least access points broadcasting the same network. The signal indicator flickers back and forth between solid and weak, and I think the wireless manager is jumping back and forth instead of sticking with the stronger one. I installed one"WiFi Manager" from Play store and the connection is more solid. I haven't rooted my device yet, so this may be the best answer until a patch shows up.
Let me know if it works,

Hello I was having this problem I had to remove my ad stop program and everything starting working normal again adblockplus to be exact but that fixed issues with mms messages and the wifi.
Yes- nothing but problems with wifi dropping and reporting as slow/unstable. Rooted on AT&T MI1. Various AP's, not specific to any one location. Basically renders wifi useless.

Yall- this issue has been bugging the hell out of me. Finally tried something I found buried in a few other forums that immediately fixed the spotty connect/disconnect and wifi data stalling errors.
Enter into the service configuration mode by dialing *#0011# and hit the menu key- touch "wifi" and turn off "wifi power saving". Reboot. After having tried everything else I was skeptical but I can confirm (in my case) it worked like a charm!
Hope it helps someone else.

I've been using that method for most of the day, and I've noticed some good results with WiFi. Unsure how it's going to affect battery life yet though lol
auto-network switch
I didn't have to reboot, but disabling the auto network switch did help. I kept getting the 'unstable messages', and I finally had to click the "don't show this again" button and hit 'cancel' so that the OS would stop trying to help my be re-enabling the auto network switch. So, the question is, is this just #LTE2fastprobs, or are there real wireless n/ac issues that make this phone less than desirable?

Wifi wont turn off

I noticed that after disabling/turning off Wifi, it still stays on and consumes battery, although Wifi icon shows switched off in notification and settings section. Restarting phone helps and WiFi finally switches off, however I do not want to restart phone every time when I want to switch off WiFi.
Does anyone have this problem and how ro resolve it?
My phone is in latest version on android 5.1.1 and on previous version I did not have such problems.
A factory reset might help
