[Q] Wifi connection - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello forum! I'm having an annoying issue with my I9070: when I connect to my domestic wireless LAN the cellphone regularly accesses the Web and web-based apps work fine. But if I leave the phone inactive for, say, 10 minutes, it won't be able to access internet sources. The strange thing is that it still reports being connected to the LAN: to regain the connection I have to turn off the Wifi and turn it on again.
This is annoying because those apps that work in background can't actually access Internet and thus won't function regularly!
I've looked for solutions on the Net: I found that Android phones have troubles with WPA-PSK-protected wireless networks, such as mine; I found suggestions regarding the code *#001#* to access a debug screen where to turn off Wifi sleep mode (but for heaven's sake, I couldn't be able to find this goddamn option!); somebody suggested to switch to static IPs on the phone, to no avail.
If it can help, I have an unrooted phone with Gingerbread 2.3.6.

Try to go to Settings - Wi-fi - Advanced - Wifi always on > there check always.
I hope it helped

Yep, the setting was already checked.
I can't seem to understand if the problem is in the router or in my smartphone. Hope it's not an hardware issue.

Do you have some battery boost application installed or something else what could affect turning wireless off? If you have, try to uninstall it.

Only battery related app is Battery Widget from Elvison, and it's just a widget showing me the charge left. Don't think it could be the problem, it doesn't feature any battery saving or battery boost function.

I'm experiencing exactly the same problem, but I only have this using my home Wifi.
Looking for a solution also!
EDIT: Do you have this everywhere but also just at one specific place or router?
What brand is your router?

Sorry for the delay of my answer.
I noticed that this happens at my girlfriend's house too, and also her wireless network is protected via WPA-PSK.
My brand of router is Sitecom, while my girlfriend's is DLink.

I'm using a sitecom at home too.. Guess the problem is more in the router than on the phone.
I've already been through the routers setting but unable to find anything..

try and add the network manually (as if the SSID wasn't being broadcast) see if that works, i had a similar problem and did this and it kicked the wifi in the seat of the pants and it started working again.
Tried that, still not finding it. Would the security level / type of security have any thing to do with it?

Try going into settings /wireless settings then hit wifi settings from there hit menu then hit advance and change the channel to 14 I think its 11 by default hope it helps good luck

Wifi turns off when screen is off

Hey,
Two days ago my phone started to turn off the wifi connection when the screen is locked. Sometimes I even have to restart the phone to get the connection back to work.
It does not happen to the 3g connection.
I have checked all apps if any of them are causing the problems in their settings. And I don't use any battery saver apps.
Anyone had the same problems?

We have a question thread for questions like this one.

You've checked that the "turn off wi-fi when screen is off"-option in advanced Wi-Fi settings is set to "Never"?

Wifi disconnecting problems..

Is anyone getting the wifi problems that the other versions of the Note 3 are getting? Preferably when it says the network was disconnected for being too slow or something like that? I know it happens on the T-Mobile, Verizon, and International versions.

Mine doesn't disconnect but it says wifi signal is unstable, then I looked in settings when this happens and it says wifi signal strength VERY STRONG, I'm sitting 10' from my router and I know damn well the the signal is strong as it says 72mbps. Lots of issues with wifi signals are popping up in the N3 sections, not good.
Yep, same as Quickvic30

Go to wifi advanced settings and uncheck Auto Network Switch. It appears the phone will "test" the speed of the wifi network to your 4g and picks which is faster.

Hey all,
I realized that the wireless issues were all where there are at least access points broadcasting the same network. The signal indicator flickers back and forth between solid and weak, and I think the wireless manager is jumping back and forth instead of sticking with the stronger one. I installed one"WiFi Manager" from Play store and the connection is more solid. I haven't rooted my device yet, so this may be the best answer until a patch shows up.
Let me know if it works,

Hello I was having this problem I had to remove my ad stop program and everything starting working normal again adblockplus to be exact but that fixed issues with mms messages and the wifi.
Yes- nothing but problems with wifi dropping and reporting as slow/unstable. Rooted on AT&T MI1. Various AP's, not specific to any one location. Basically renders wifi useless.

Yall- this issue has been bugging the hell out of me. Finally tried something I found buried in a few other forums that immediately fixed the spotty connect/disconnect and wifi data stalling errors.
Enter into the service configuration mode by dialing *#0011# and hit the menu key- touch "wifi" and turn off "wifi power saving". Reboot. After having tried everything else I was skeptical but I can confirm (in my case) it worked like a charm!
Hope it helps someone else.

I've been using that method for most of the day, and I've noticed some good results with WiFi. Unsure how it's going to affect battery life yet though lol
auto-network switch
I didn't have to reboot, but disabling the auto network switch did help. I kept getting the 'unstable messages', and I finally had to click the "don't show this again" button and hit 'cancel' so that the OS would stop trying to help my be re-enabling the auto network switch. So, the question is, is this just #LTE2fastprobs, or are there real wireless n/ac issues that make this phone less than desirable?

[Q] Wireless Gets Disconnected Oftenly

Hello,
After I bought this tablet, I am always having an issue whatever ROM i try doesnt matter (stock one, stock latest, crombi-x, crombi-kk)
WI-FI works great on my home network which is password protected and not much channel congestion around.
WI-FI gets disconnected very often (every 2-3 minutes generally if only I start surfing) at work, where there is lots of WI-FI in the same channels (this is because most of networks are from the same router). At work, if I start a download and do nothing else it goes good but whenever I start surfing, then i get disconnected. Work WI-FI is not secure by WPA etc but certificate authantication is required. So I suspect there is something wrong wiht certificate services with the device or software. It sounds like a buffer gets full when I connect to different web sites.
I tried a lot of browsers and there is no difference between them.
Any help will be appriciated.
I have that problem also. But it happened only after I bought a cheap dlink n300. Before that I was using a Belkin and it was fine.I Just have to hit retry.

It may be the battery save feature of the tablet that is disconnecting you from WiFi. Try turning that off to see if you still have the issue.

I am not having an issue at home network, so I don't think power save features causing this. Also, I have tried with power saving disabled from settings and result is same.

If you are not having the issue at home then it is more likely the work Cisco setup.
I used to have the same problem on my home network. I live in the city and have lots of Wifi-networks around (about 15 to 20). At work, where wifi channels aren't so crowded, i didn't have this problem.
What fixed it for me was to put the router to 802.11n-only (before it was mixed n/g/b). As from that moment (many months ago) i haven't had a single disconnect. But I guess this might not be a solution for you...

Wifi wont turn off

I noticed that after disabling/turning off Wifi, it still stays on and consumes battery, although Wifi icon shows switched off in notification and settings section. Restarting phone helps and WiFi finally switches off, however I do not want to restart phone every time when I want to switch off WiFi.
Does anyone have this problem and how ro resolve it?
My phone is in latest version on android 5.1.1 and on previous version I did not have such problems.
A factory reset might help

Thanks, but I would rather keep factory reset as a final option.
Any other suggestions?
