I recently loaded Hashcode's cm10.1 for the kindle fire 8.9 on to my kindle fire 8.9 and every thing else is great except I noticed that I was missing developer options as well as performance options in the system settings. I was rooted. If anybody has any insight as to why this has happen it would be greatly appreciated. I hope I just have to reflash or something simple like that.

Hi,
I have a problem after receiving the update 7.2.2 for my Kindle Fire HD I can not switch off word hints. The whole device is lagging if they are on.
Any idea?
Best regards

7.2.2 introduced Swype as the keyboard, to get to the settings screen press and hold the space bar.
Going to settings screen is not the problem. The problem is the settings don't take any effect as you can see in the pictures.
I got the latest firmware downloaded, but how do you turn off the clicking noises when you type on the keyboard? Other than muting it, is there a hack? I don't see an option in settings.

Did you try going to settings, sounds and unchecking touch sounds?

Yes, the touch sounds checkbox is not turned on, I verified this.

I don't know if this will help, but I have hackers keyboard installed (btw if you install this you will not go back) and it has a setting to turn off keyclicks. Now when I switch to stock, it is silent too.

By suggesting this, I was able to determine to go to language and input, select the Android keyboard, and then click on the levels icon beside ti. From there, I clicked on Sound on keypress, and problem solved. Thanks to all!

Thanks for the information. Just installed CM11 to my nook HD+ and needed to do something about the loud key clicks. Under advanced settings for android keyboard (AOSP) there is an adjustment for key click volume.. Google keyboard has a similar adjustment under advanced.

The goal is to be able to delve into hidden menu and also control the radios. Thanks in advance!!

First off, the code is *#*#info#*#*
Secondly, dialer codes don't work on the stock moto x 4.4+ I've tried many and none will bring up any menu.
Another post mentioned the app Phone Testing. This has worked for me as far as bringing up the info menu.

Oops got the symbols backwards, thanks for catching that
But yeah, the codes seem to be hit or miss (I've had both experiences on stock -- it's working for me now on 4.4.2 but didn't work on 4.4)

thanks for the help guys, I searched anycut in the play store but it's gone apparently. also, piccit is right, the dialer code does not work for 4.4 that was the first thing i tried when getting the phone lol
I'm just gonna find anycut on google. Also piccit, since we have the same model, Are there any noticable camera improvements for 4.4.2? also did system update work for you? it doesn't for me, and did audio effects toggles work for you? because on 4.4 it don't work for me lol.

I actually have the 1060 (vze DE). I flashed the Great Britian 4.4.2 and never bothered to modify my build.prop to specify the right version.
As far as your questions:
I don't use the camera enough to comment.
I manually flashed 4.4.2, so system update doesn't come into play
I haven't touched my EQ/audio effects, they're still on whatever the defaults are
I'm not familiar with anycut, but if you just want to get to the testing menu, the app chrstndsgnr posted worked for me when the dialer code wouldn't on 4.4

AnyCut hasn't been updated since 2008. If you've installed it before, open the play store, click on the upper left and pick"my apps" then "all". You'll probably have to scroll all the way to the bottom
Here's the direct link, don't know if it'll work for you or not.

Thanks for the reply but I trieed that direct link else where already. also I can just get the apk from google like i did last time.
you can create shortcuts to hidden menus through the activities widget in third party launchers like apex launcher and action launcher, probably others.
CQATest: CQATest > CQATest > .Test_MenuMode
Phone info (submenu of Testing): Settings > Phone info > .RadioInfo
Programming Menu: Programming Menu > Programming Menu > .ProgMenuApp$ProgMenuList
Qualcomm Settings: com.qualcomm.qualcommsettings > Qualcomm Settings > .QualcommSettings
Testing: Settings > Testing > .TestingSettings
All of those work except the programming menu when using the action launcher. Thanks for sharing!

Hey guys, I did a quick check through the first 5 pages or so of this forum and couldn't find anything, so here we go.
My phone's been overheating and quickly draining the battery on stock ROM (I have the XT1095 developer edition), so I switched over to crDroid to see if that would help. It did, but now I can't place or receive any calls. I've tried other ROMs, but I still have the same problem. When I try and place a call, my phone goes to the boot screen immediately. I've tried using different APNs to no avail as well. Can anyone help me? I'd prefer not to go back to stock, but I will if that's my only option.

If you're replacing the default AOSP/CM dialer, then you have to set it as default:
Settings > Apps > Gear Icon > Default Apps > Phone App
Is your carrier name showing on the lock screen?
Same issue I had ... set the default as Gus Ghanem said and you will be good to go.

You're welcome! This is a known issue, it happens when you flash Gapps and the Phone/Dialer app is replaced, you have to reset the new Dialer as Default.
I have two 7" Fire Tablets that I use as alarm panels using the app "Fully Kiosk Browser" in conjunction with "Action Tiles". Unfortunately missed the rooting window but for the most part everything has worked fine. Biggest issue is after a week or so the Fire OS starts dragging to a crawl and is painful to use. A reboot clears it all up again though.
Is there any possible way to schedule a nightly reboot without having root access? Or any other ideas to prevent it getting so slow?
Thanks a lot!

Try MacroDroid or Automate; both available in the Play Store or via apkmirror.

Thanks @Davey126, those both look like great tools but they need root for the "reboot" action . Thanks for sharing though. Not thinking there is anyway around rebooting without root...
Was thinking this sounded promising, but not sure there is a digital restart button (only the physical one): https://www.reddit.com/r/tasker/comments/3djhmo/how_to_reboot_your_phone_without_rooting/
Might try this app which just restarts processes and not the whole unit: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greatbytes.fastrebootpro
Anyone have experience with this app (or similar) and recommend?

Sorry the suggested automation tools didn't work out. Using a tap emulator (screen reader/scraper) as suggested in the first post should work but may not always function as intended if the power dialog appears in different locations. Don't have experience with the other app but it sounds promising. It may or may not address the issue you are facing depending if it can 'act' on system apps and services.
Just thought I would mention, after testing those apps that close processes and such... didn't help .
Not sure how to bring up an on screen restart screen to try automated screen clicks. If anyone has any other ideas how to schedule a reboot on one of these things, that would be awesome. Device works as a good alarm panel except for the massive slow down.
Man...this is exactly my issue with ActionTiles and 2 different Tablets (Amazon Fires) that I have in my house for Home Automation. This so frustrating - after about 5-7 days, the screen goes crazy (jagged white/black) and requires a reboot. I have used both the ActionTiles App and the Kiosk Browser. Silk as well. I have eliminated all gifs, tiles that have bad devices, etc. Nothing works and the tablets are all up to date with latest patches. Very frustrating!
