how to change default camera on JB roms - Motorola Droid Bionic

so in my AOKP JB rom the default camera doesnt work, and im pretty sure thats a standard problem for AOKP roms, so i use fxcamera which is fine, but is there any way to make it like the system default camera so that i can use apps like instagram and snapchat? cause they call the non working default camera so i cant use them.
thanks

Haven't tried it but can you disable the camera that comes with the ROM?
Jellybean lets you disable any apps in the settings screens.

Just tried that and while you can do it, it doesn't help you in apps like snapchat

This is really the major downfall to custom roms. I hate having to switch back to ICS to just to send one snapchat.

[ROM] Indigo Bean; CyanogenMod 5.0.8

Indigo Bean
Latest version: 1.0
Description:
This is a ROM using the famous CyanogenMod sources, version 5.0.8.
It has quite unique features compared to other ROMs:
Power Control Widget with automatic brightness mode (a Froyo feature)
setting to blink the (green) notification light
charging light (amber) if there are no notifications (also a setting)
Download:
I've written a small web-application that allows you to keep track of my releases. You can download ROMs and Add-ons there, as well as see some fancy statistics.
Check it out: http://derhofbauer.at/android/
Setup:
The recommended (easiest) method to download and install Indigo Bean is via ROM-Manager (which can be found in the Market). You can also use the QR-codes from my website.
Sources on GitHub:

Credits:
Thanks go out to kyosa (touchscreen patches) and defer (for saying "ramdisk"). And of course Cyanogen, the whole CM team and Koush for their great work!
Beer / Coffee:
Changelog:
1.0
Included bluetooth fix. Nothing new apart from that. Decided to bump version to 1.0.
0.6
New setting to turn on amber light while loading
Using native libhardware_legacy.so (updated init.legend.rc, boot.img)
0.5
Some bug-fixes (amber LED should really be working now)
Odexed system/app (will give you enough free space in /cache to install even big apps)
0.4 "Come on baby light my fire..."
Patched LED handling (green steady/blinking for notifications, amber for low battery)
Support for ROM-Manager (now that fake-flash is fixed for the Legend)
Protected apps should be visible in Market now
Removed Google apps (installable as add-on)
0.3 "S5K4E1GX is a beast"
5MP pictures
Odexed app/framework
0.2 "Fixing Bugs is pure Joy"
Fixed sync problems
Custom boot.img (ramdisk)
Moved some apps to /data/app (for easier removal)
0.1
Initial release
Known issues:
Camera needs a lot of tweaking (no zoom, image sizes hard-coded)
Search for carriers broken
Excellent, I never thought I'd see CyanogenMod on the Legend
I'd love to try it if only the camera wasn't broken......
Great. Downloading.......
is the volume key long-press working to change tracks in the audio player, as in the Cyanogen ROMs?
Looks fine so far. Thx for sharing.
One thing that does not work for me is Cardiotrainer from Market. When i try to start workout, it FC. Same problem with vanilla bean. The app works fine on all other roms and also on my magic with Cyangenmod 5.0.7DS.
For those that want camera i can recommend Vignette, it works perfectly.
It costs some money but its totally worth it since you can add effects and lots of other stuff.
can you take pictures ?
this are very great news! Thank you ali ba for your awesome work!
Looks like I have the same sync problems as in vanilla bean. I get no mails pushed. Have have to make a manual refresh .
is it possible just to have the lockscreen as an app?
Is it possbile to use metamorth in this rom?

Stock camera app does work with this release. Issues are 5MP and zoom. Besides that you can take pictures and videos. And playback videos, which is an issue with Vanilla Bean.

Sorry to hear that. I can sync right out of the box after providing my Google credentials. I changed some contact info in Google contacts and saw the changes nearly immediately on my phone.
Again: If you provide a proper log, I might be able to help you.

No. The Lockscreen is part of the framework. Replace the responsible class and the HTC apps will be broken. There were efforts to provide a vanilla-like lockscreen for HTC, don't know whether they succeeded. This is the wrong thread nevertheless for such a request.

You don't have write access to /system, so you'll always have to get into recovery mode.
Thanks for this image!
Has soneone found a way to install it with rom manager. flash clockworkmod recovery fails on my legend. Or is there another way to backup my original rooted rom before flashing this one?
Just an idea, have you tried contacting the CyanogenMod team and maybe submit some patches to make an official CyanogenMod version for the Legend? AFAIK the same has been done with the Desire recently, using contributor patches.
EDIT: I also presume they'd be able to help you with the camera problem.

Does vignette use the full 5mp of the Legend? The problem with camera app is the resolution.... it feels kind wasted having paid for a 5MP camera and not being able to fully utilise it.
You just made me realize that I simply have to root. I've gotta have this!

Yepp, it uses 5MP, you can actually choose from a list what MP you want.
rom is working great. again good work!
you know if the htc keyboard should be included? for some reason i have the default android 2 times
@schpinn:
I'm maybe going to do that.
The problem we face is that the hardware is fundamentally different to the Desire, whereas Desire and Nexus mostly share the same drivers.

is MIUI worth it?

Is MIUI is worth installing and using it as main OS for the N1?
For day to day use, is it reliable?
It looks very nice and I'm tempted...
I've been using Geo's rom for a while and it's been stable.
Miuis rom is very stable for everyday use. Install Rods version its alot better than the stock version in my opinion
MIUI is the best ROM ever! Specially the new version... Be sure to try it.
I like it but i still prefer CM!
I just wish some of the features in that ROM would go into CM I'd help do that but i'm not a dev
So I should go with Rodz version? But he's using .5 and the lates is .12, as far as i know. Is it easy to update the MIUI rom within the rom or do i have wipe and reflash everything from recovery?
As with most Roms, wipe and flash. Used Rod's MIUI for awhile, was very happy with its speed and stability. Still always tempted to go back.
I use Rod's MIUImod with ADW.Launcher. It's brilliant.
Few days ago have flashed miui...
its the best nexus custom rom i ever seen!
I tried Rod MUIU and it is nice and quick, there a few things I personally didn't like which is why I'm back at MicroMods 2.10 Sense.
remember if you don't like the launcher you can always use LauncherPro or ADW
Yea I use the stock miui detox with launcher pro plus and Rom I used. I don't care for the stock launcher to many apps on the screen I'm to lazy to put them in order lol.
Yea I switched from MIUI to the latest CM rom. MIUI is ok but a few things kept me away.
The Lockscreen is cool but you can't change the background unless you use the stock iphone launcher
I don't care the the "iphone" launcher
The drop down menu has data tools, which is awesome, but CM has them at the top and has the ability to put only the ones you want on there. The MIUI puts them at the bottom, so I constantly kept activating them while managing the menu.
The new phone and messaging app are odd. While I liked the ability to SMS multiple recipients, it would tend to not display all of my contacts and I would have to manually select them from my Contacts list.
The Contacts list would not sync with Facebook automatically. You have to a manual sync from a "Facebook Sync" app. My gf actually started a fight over why her contact didn't have a profile picture on it (she thought I was "hiding" her).
Meh. Rod's version is the way to go if you want MIUI. But really once you put Launcher Pro on top of any rom, it behaves the same. I just like the on-the-fly theming options and drop down menu data toggles of CM's latest.

Lel, nope. You can change the lockscreen's wallpaper regardless of your launcher.
I'd say it's worth it. Obviously CM6 has some advantages over it, just as it has some over CM6. It depends on your needs. For me, the smoothness and more importantly battery life--along with the slick lockscreen--are enough to keep me using it as my day-to-day ROM. Stable, fast, works.
Not saying it's the right ROM for everyone, but it does have a lot to offer.

1. You CAN change the Lockscreen background while using launcher pro.
(charging animation is sweet on lockscreen)
2. The drop down menu data tools, some actually rearrange based on how much you use them, so the most used functions show up in the visible area and then you can just slide to use the others.
3. It has built in screen capture feature using menu and volume down at the same time.
4. It gets updated every week with new features and fixes.
5. It has built in apps2ext, if you have ext partition.
6. It has built in CPU control toggle for battery saving when needed.
I used Miui for a long time. I went from the first release on up to 11.05. (Stock, never used Rod's)
After all the uses I have to say it is a fairly stable and unique version of android,
I give props to the Miui team and dj and mobius and the bunch.
But, in the end it came down to 'function over form' for me.
Basically there is no rom that has as many features as CM.
And with a few tweaks you can make CM visually identical to stock.
The look of stock is important to me.

Power Control Widget MOD in Stock Froyo

Hello,
I have been using CM for the last months, and now that the stock froyo rom is here with sense, I was decided to give it a try.
One of the things I have gotten used to in CM is the power control widget with 2G/3G options. I feel like I cant live without that right now, so I am trying to get it back. Has someone being able to do this?
I donwloaded the mod from here, and flash it using rom manager:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/3625-new-power-control-widget-with-one-click-2g3g-toggling/
But no luck, after restarting androud would freeze up after 5 seconds.
Any help? Thank youi!

I'm thinkin the same thing. Guess they have to sort out a new and updated app.
It isn't just that simple... guys at CM modified phone and settings apk for this to work... you can't just replace those two files here in stock FroYo! There are many dependencies. Besides you would at least have to deodex stock ROM but that's just the beginning...
I suspect it needs APIs only present in cyanogenmod. But, perhaps if the API for toggling 3G is discovered (it must be there as there's a HTC widget for this), one could modify the default power control widget.
You mean API call? I doubt that stock HTC ROM has that. Does AOSP have it? From the original author in CM thread you can see that he was waiting for Google to implement that call but they weren't so he modified settings.apk and phone.apk to allow that call...

The HTC ROM must have it (or something similar), since it has a widget for 3G enable/disable. Whether it's accesible or hidden is a different question. And AOSP doesn't have it, obviously.

The call might have the same name, but it calls different aspects of setting. Only that way the same software would produce two different results using the same action on two different ROMs (namely CM and stock HTC). This sounds logical.
Google "switchpro" it is just like the CM froyo power widget but more customizable.
And then what?
We know those widgets but we are talking here that they don't produce the same result on different ROMs... namely CM and stock HTC's.

I tried it, but when you clicked on the 2G/3G switch icon it takes you the settings, it does not switch in one click, not as good as CM power control widget

Missing app access on Lockscreen in stock ICS 4.0.4?

Just updated to stock ICS 4.0.4 for Hong Kong (TGY). Noticed touchwiz is much slower loading after turning on the phone. But anyway, 2 things I noticed missing:
1) I noticed that the "pop-up play" feature does not appear in the stock video player. EDIT: fix here
2) I've also noticed the quick access to apps from the lock screen feature has been missing, didn't even have out when I upgraded to 4.0.3.
How can I get these missing features while keeping stock ROM and TW?
Yes it's missing for Nordic rom also.
Skickat från min GT-N7000
well i'm glad it's not just me then. i don't understand why some regions would choose to leave them out, but which regions do have these features included?
Someone ported the stock videoplayer from a 4.0.4 s2 room, so at least i have pop-up play.
Anyone know of a way i can get the ics lock screen with quick access to apps, without installing a third party lockscreen?
EDIT: i meant to say, someone ported videoplayer from ics 4.0.4 LRG over to s2 and got it to work, so simply take videoplayer from a LRG based custom rom

it's the stock VideoPlayer.apk from stock LRK rom. Just replace the VideoPlayer.apk already on your phone (after backing up of course) with this one.
Tested to work on my stock LPM rom. I'm just surprised the pop-up window is so small, considering the size of the N7000's screen

The bigger the window the more computing power is needed. So apparently Samsung thought better a fluent small video window than a big one that lags.

Ah makes sense. Still, isn't the n7000's processor more than capable of handling a larger window size?
So does anyone know if there is a way of getting the new ics stock lock screen without changing region roms or using a 3rd party app?

Jelly Bean 3rd Party Camera Apps

Hey all,
None of the Jelly Bean ROMS (In particular, CM 10.1) seem to have a camera that works with third party apps, like Instagram and Snapchat. The camera always ends up freezing when it opens. This even happens when attempting to change the phone security to Face Unlock; the camera freezes on opening of the setup for face unlock as well.
Does anyone have a solution to this?
Thanks in advanced.
Actually, I got the same problem with CM10 (not 10.1) too
I think it's a bug for a long time already, but it's better to fix those serious bugs in CM10.1 first
When we have a relatively stable CM10.1, i think hashcode will start working on the camera bug

Thanks for this post. I've never seen this topic before, but I am also confused with this issue since CM10.
Has anybody already an idea for the reason of this bug?

doesn't work with snapchat. app crashes when it loads the camera screen.
The stock camera is buggy with all JB roms at the moment. None of the 3rd party apps will work until the bugs are hammered out. Even the barcode scanner doesn't work. If you use any of the 3rd party apps, ICS is your choice for now.

Edit: Nevermind. Works fine if you go into instagram settings and turn off "use advanced camera"
