Hi there, I wanna know the differences between the TW & CM.
I also want to know if I switch to CM, will be there specif apps(APKs) that can be installed on it ? Will I be able for example to push samsung apps to CM? or only samsung apps will be the apps that won't work on CM? and what am I gonna lose/win when I switch to CM?
Thanks in advance.
TW stands for touchwizz by samsug
now if you switch to Cyanogenmod(CM) apps bases on TW will not work like s-note
every other app will work fine

Swype does not come with CM, and it is not available in play store, only as a proprietary app, meaning it is only available pre-installed. You can however find copies of Swype here on XDA (use search).
Also, matemathic recognition is not available in any other note app than S-note as far as i know.

can you put touchwiz apps on on cm7 like on the miui rom
thank in advanced
No since they need the samsumg touchwiz framework.

But does Miui use touchwiz framework?
Because I know that you can install Apps from "samsung apps" if your using miui.
AFAIK cm7 and miui dont use touchwiz. They are completely independently developed ROMs, except for some closed-source hardware drivers from samsung.
If you mean an app from the "samsung apps" store that would be possible as long it does not use the touchwiz framework, many apps in there also exist on the android market. If I remember correctly from the samsung stock apps the only one which works is the calculator.

Got it, that makes sense.
Thanks for your reply!
Can Someone post the touchwiz framework
You can use the TW4-launcher on Android (look for 'Touchwiz 4.5' here on XDA).

Have anybody tried flashing the Google Apps package from CyanogenMod 9 thread to an Official ICS build from Samsung? Will it work properly and replace the enclosed apps on Official Samsung build with pure Google ones?
I'm talking about this package http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip

I'm talking about the Samsung modified core apps like the Dialer, Messages, Calendar, ICS Keyboard etc. My query was if I flash the gapps package, then will I get access to those stock Google apps from ICS?
Hi, I have one question about Google and Google+. How to remove the files in our custom rom before flashing the rom? Ya, we can delete it using root explorer but I love to know which apk/files contain the twos apks. Thank's.
Google+ isn't necessarily an apk in the gapps package so google+ won't be there in the custom ROMs and I'm not sure if Google Now is a thing that can be removed as it is an exclusive feature of Android 4.1+ . Not sure though. :|

afair Google Now gets active only after you log in to your Google account from Google Search, logging get out brings the Search back

He wants to disable google search, i don't see any way to do that except not flashing gapps at all which isn't desirable. I'd be glad if you can help him disable google search if possible.
If it is a TW ROM then just pull the apk's out of system/preload...

I guess it all depends on the ROM - I have two different devices, on one the Search is a system app (system/app/Velvet.apk), on other it was installed via Play market (data/app/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.apk).
Generally if the apk resides in zip file, it can be removed before flashing (I usually clean ROMs from all apps I don't need on my PC using WinRar), the only problem could be finding name of the apk file to remove.
Yes you're right, the name of the app is where the problem resides as I did check the frameworks folder of the ROM. It's ROM specific isn't it, and tampering with an app like google search can surely cause some unforeseen errors too. I don't see any reason why google search has become such an undesirable app for the poster!
Not sure how it works for stock-based ROMs, on my N7000 I have Slimbean, which comes without Search - it can be installed from the Market separately if someone needs it
Sent from my GT-N5100 using xda premium
Slimbean has gapps of its own, customised for the ROM which are available on their site. The gapps on goo.im which are prescribed by some other ROMs come with the feature of google-search.

in this case it should be enough to remove "QuickSearchBox.apk" from the zip file before flashing
This removes Google search altogether or just the search box on the home screens which cannot be gotten away from the settings options in certain ROMs?

Not sure, the search box may be a separate widget, you could check with Root App Delete (enables/disables system apps)

Hope this way helps. So far i have no problem starting, using and hibernating these 3 apps.
Running on DXLSE deodexed rooted with philz kernel.

Thank you for all informations. It is PlusOne.apk for the Google+ and Messenger+ too. I left the Google Search for future need. Thank's a lot. :good::good::good:
I have an S4 and when I flashed the Infamous GE 4.4.2 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341936), I was not able to get most of the GearManager apps to work like:
-Text SMS Notifications
-Samsung Apps Appstore install
-SVoice
These did work though:
-Video/Camera Pictures
-Answer/Reject Calls
So I went back to a Stock Rooted 4.3 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545711) and everything worked.
Does anyone know how to get everything working on a custom KitKat ROM? Do you just need to install all the samsung gear apps/services on the custom ROM?
You need Touchwiz for everything to work
Does TouchWiz have to be default, or just installed?

thats right there it is, i got it, thanks.
im gonna edit the thread.
I tried to install the apk file attached in first post but that didnt install , i guess CWM is the only way to get this launcher.
I have a modded tre.. launcher with different name so wanted to install the original CM11 version but i guess the simple apk install wont work.

It's not working for me, but it's probably because I have Android 4.1.2...
It seems like cm11 Trebuchet stopped working on my AOSP 4.2.1 rom in mid June (around the 15th). Before, it was working very good.
Anyone knows why or how to make it work again?
edit: The problem is that it installs propperly but fails to open when i use the home button.
Here is CM11 trebuchet, as built on the 5th July 2014. I MODIFIED AndroidManifest.xml and now it works again on my 4.2.1 Jellybean rom.
Not working list:
Wallpapers (you ve gotta set it manually from Gallery)
Themes
Protected Apps (You can still hide apps with xposed GEL settings app, through xposed framework, if it's a matter)
Exactly like before. I played around in order to make these menus open but I failed. It seems like they interact with other processes/apps (like Settings.apk) which are exclusively found on CM11.
Does this change the notification and status bar to the same style as Trebuchet?
perfect launcher!
This launcher is better than google's launcher because we can remove that persistent search bar.
I installed it on my "spice mi 498".
Thanks for the launcher.

Try searching for cmapps in play store, although that app is broken but in description you can find direct web link.
Also my phone has android 4.4.4 and my phone is from android one series.
I think previous android version might be the problem.

try installing then moving to system as Launcher3.apk
Thanks for the APK dude, it works like a charm on my X-BO V5. Had to use the flashable ZIP version as the companion app to the default launcher, if not the launcher itself, is tainted.
