I've tried to get it to allow me to put su on my phone but it will NOT allow it. I'm ready to throw this thing out of the window lol.
The error I get is
E: Can't open/tmp/sideload/package.zip (bad) Installation aborted
I get the exact same message when I try to put the cwm on it. I have attempted rooting with Zerg but all it's put on there is the emulator. Anyone know what the heck I'm doing wrong? ANY help would be awesome.
Thanks guys.

OK well couple things to check, first do you have the exhibit 2 (t679). Second what android version do you have? If you don't have the exhibit 2 don't continue. If you do have the exhibit 2 go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Exhibit_II_4G zerg doesn't work on 2.3.6 so you should check if you are actually rooted

Yes I have the 2.3.6 and it is a t679. thank you very much for the link my friend. Out of all the people who looked at this thread you're the only one cared to post a response. I really REALLY appreciate it.

Keep getting 2.2.1 updates after root. How can this be stopped? Its annoying to keep rooting only to get the system updates again and again. I'm rooting with a signed fr91 file. Any way to stop this?

Upgrade to 2.2.1 frg83 then use the one click super root to root 2.2.1 you won't get the update any more u can find it in nexus wiki

Download 'Quick Boot' from the market and use it to reboot the phone. Then, clear the update notification from the notification menu. The update message should go away for a while (mine lasted a week before it came back).
I'm still somewhat hesitant to upgrade to FRG83 and use SuperOneClick since some people in the thread are reporting problems. I love my phone how it is right now!

Are you and Memnoch30 referring to the post you laid out in another thread? I'm pretty sure you wrote detailed instructions on how to do the manual rage root using adb. Will this method work fine if all I want is to run stock 2.2.1 with root-requiring apps like setcpu and move2sd enabler? Sorry for being such a noob

I just installed 2.2.1 and used the SuperOneClick method to root the phone again. I had to turn the phone off, run the program, and then boot the phone for it to work. I suggest you try this method. It couldn't be much simpler.
Now i keep getting the new firmware update message and i cant seem to turn it off even with the quickboot. Any ideas?
Install the update, root again. Now really, this "idea" is 1 message above yours - what made you post?
Hm i tried to update but failed, could be due to tampering of the build number that I did previously but after that it didn't bug me anymore, at least not for now. Will try the superoneclick one next time. Thanks.
It might be back in several days, but if you've tampered with the system and advanced the build number - it shouldn't appear anymore.
yeah i sure hope so. will know in a few days
Hey All,
First I would like to start of by saying sorry if there is a thread on this and I have not found it from hours of searching for an answer.
So let me tell you the problem/point I am at with my Nexus One and need help.
So I rooted my phone a while back and for some time I was running the
CyanogenMod and then used Rom Manager to return to the stock image FRF91 from there updated to FRFG83D. I now want to get back into the rooted world and Amon_Ra's Recovery. Each time I try to enter into recovery mod I get the droid with a big '!'
I have tried to use SuperOneClick and it keep sitting on
Running rageagainstthecage...
ROOTED
Getting mount path...
tried 1-click does not work also.
Please help
Anyone help please

You only need to ask once. Asking multiple times is not going to get anyone to help you any faster... All you'll do is annoy people.
The "droid with the big !" as you put it is the stock recovery. When you flash a stock ROM, it re-installs the stock recovery, unless you delete two files.
Anyway, you need to delete /system/etc/install-recovery.sh and /system/recovery-from-boot.p and then flash a custom recovery. You obviously need root to delete those two files.
See attachments for how to root and flash a custom recovery, without unlocking your bootloader.
Thanx and do not wish to be a pain, I thought I got my nexus to a point were I could not do a think.
Will try it out and let you know.
Thanks

I did this like 2 days ago too. Super one click root does work. I confirmed. You just only need to set up your driver and your adb right.

Hey guys,
I'm having a issue, I just got a new captivate from AT&T, and it came stock with 2.2, And I rooted it, now have Superuser and Clockwork Recovery, and I'm trying to flash to a different ROM, I open up Clock and choose to install ROM from SD card. and the phone says it'll boot into Clockwork Recovery, but never does, it just goes into the regular Recovery. So I tried installing Clockwork the way of through a Update.zip, and every time I click reinstall packages,
"--Install from sdcard. Finding update package... opening update package. Verifying update package... E: failed to verify whole-file signature E: signature verification failed Installation aborted." I thought about Odin 1 click, but I'm not sure what that'll do to the phone cause it came to me with 2.2, and from my understanding there's only a Odin 1 click for 2.1
Any suggestions on what to do?
Here's a suggestion, try doing a search before posting or simply scanning the stickies in the forums for an answer first. There is a sticky on the 3e verification issue and how to fix it in the General forum.

Well miami has a point because people junk up the forums with excessive threads of same thing... Also he wasn't being rude he was just letting them know about how they should search because 3e threads are started way to much.

Do not under any circumstance use Odin one click with your build. Unless you like bricking your phone. I had to learn this the hard way, as did many others on the forums with newer build numbers.

New method found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19390207#post19390207
If you run this and it doesn't root you try wiping data from Setting>privacy and wipe the internal storage as well. I did that and it worked for me. Granted I didn't try this method without wiping my internal. If nothing else it cleans it up for you.

Ok, so whatever changes you made ... it seems to work better in a virtual windows environment
Before it would get stuck at "daemon started succesfully"
now it goes through to "Installing Root Tools..."
but then I get a string of error messeages
either "device offline" or "device not found"
then "cleaning up" ... device not found
then "rebooting" ...device not found
then it freezes
when I unplug my device or toggle debugging mode it continues to say "root complete"
.... so close.
So If I'm rooted on Z4? then I still need to unroot and upgrade to Z6 for this to work?
Thanks a lot man for such this easy one-click-root tool.

Hey everyone this is the third android device root im attempting. Ive rooted both my Droid incredible as well as my HTC evo 4g, so im not a major noob. With that said i still need help. First off yes ive searched for root options for my galaxy tab 7. ive tried z4root, gingerbreak, and everyones favorite superonceclick. i just got done trying hemidall (spelling) and that was no luck. im ready to throw both my computer and tab in the garbarge, but i like a challenge and want to get this accomplished. so with that being said when i plug in the tablet to the PC it wont connect with the junk softwawre kies or anything else. when i use superonceclick it gets to the point of the second "zerg rush" and it says path not specified. Ive downloaded what i think are the correct drivers. ive got the version of C++ it wants as well as the driver and it just wont root. so please can Anyone help??????

Whats your "end-game"?
Do you just want root? or are you planning on using a custom rom? CM9 maybe?
For myself, I just wanted to jump to CM9, so I just jumped in with heimdal, then flashed over CM9... no rooting or anything!
Hey it was to try custom roms i read there was a decent ics rom but i havent gotten into cm9. I downloaded the galaxy tab cubed rom and everytime i tried loading into hiemdall it said tar header invaild file size so i gave up for now

If you are on GB 2.3.3 or lower you can easily root r tab with the above methods. But I thought everyone's favorite was doomlord's script?
GB 2.3.5 and above is unrootable with the methods you mention.
There are two ways you can go. The easiest one is to install pre-rooted kernel for sch-i800 or other CDMA models.
I tried doomlords script woth no luck as well. I am running 2.3.5 so ill have to root with a kernal? Also what did hammerfest meam when he said he flashed cm9 without rooting?

I did the following:
1: Total factory reset! (to include formatting my MicroSD card!)
2: Found the drivers and odin
2.5: Spent the better part of 3hrs literally DIGGING through posts on HOW to get this done PROPERLY, like someone else said, the information was THERE on how to do it properly, but it was BERRIED like a needle in a hay stack...
3: Flashed cubed's ROM (using odin, without rooting at all)
4: Flashed AOKP (more for the update for CWM)
5: Flashed CM9
If I cared to go through the pain again of going stock then reflash, and licked the sound of my voice when recorded, id do a video...but I dont want to and I dont like it, so... Sorry?
