Well after flashing anders' cm and flashing the boot, i started getting damaged sd card error while booted up. I've tried changing recovery, vold.fstab, hboot, kernel, radio; nothing works. When i boot into recovery and try to install from sd card it tells me there's an error mounting /sdcard but when i do usb storage it comes up on my computer so i don't think its a faulty sd card, any ideas? Thanks

Try flashing twrp recovery and then my SD card fix or another rom
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium
I tried through twrp and it reads the sdcard but not the same one as the one that gets mounted on pc, i even tried to adb push the zip's into /sdcard which twrp read but when i tried to flash it it gave me the mounting error. Now i reinstalled your cm by pushing the zip into /data, i'm going to see if it doesn't work i'll flash another rom.
After installing your cm i installed the other cm build which gave the same error, then i pushed total senseless into /data and installed and when i booted up it gave me sd card error again but when i formatted from there it formatted sd card, now i booted into recovery again and sd card is working perfectly and i once again flashed the other cm build and all is working correctly. I guess the problem was that cm couldn't format my sd card which is weird because i had tried and succeeded to format it to fat32 through pc.
Also, do you have an eta for when you'll have working camera on your cm build? Thanks for the help

Good to hear it is working again. As my cm9 rom is only a port and onejay09 is working on a cm9 compiled from source the port will not get any update. It was only mean to be a sneak peak until someone compiled cm9

After my first 8GB class 2 card starting playing up i bought a new 8GB class 6 whiched arrived this morning. I placed it into the SD card slot on my laptop and all was fine. I added the ROM's i wanted to flash to the SD and booted into recovery to flash them.
I partitioned both my SD cards using Paragon Partition Manager and now BOTH cards aren't being read by my SD card reader.
When i boot into recovery, then console and ums_enable it says windows needs to format.
When ever i try flashing a ROM i allways get the boot sceen hanging. Does anyone know any solutions onto fixing either one or both cards?
Thanks
try partitioning to fat32 within the phone and then formating using cm 1.4 recovery image
I've just managed to get it working and can get it recognised using ums_enable in console, but still ALL ROM's i install seem to just boot loop

I can't as all the ROM's i install boot loop, including the one i have installed now
Hi,
I am having an issue that I'd hope you would be able to help me with. I flashed CyanogenMod10, and everything was doing fine, smooth performance, reboots with no problems, but then suddenly one day it went bricked. I restored through the SmartFlashTool Method, and got back to the stock Rom with everything working except for the SD card.
I have tried out various stock ROMs and none seemed to recognize the SD card, outputting a message of "SD card removed. Please insert a new one."; getting on to ADB when trying to mount the SDcard I get this message "mounting /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 on /sdcard failed: No such file or directory", and while trying to mount the SD card in CWM Recovery, it tells me "E: Can't mount sdcard", and when I try to mount USB storage through CWM, I get "E:Unable to write to ums lunfile(no such file or directory)", and when trying to mount /sdcard on CWM I get a "Error mounting /sdcard" message... I hope people at XDA would be able to help me since I have been lurking through the forums and internet without any good answer. :highfive:
I was able to mount the SD card through ClockWorkMod Recovery v5.0.2.6, but again, barely at random times when it works, and after installing a ROM those times, the phone usually works for one hour or two and then gets bricked again. I can not have access to another CWM version since I need an SD card to flash it. To install CWM I am using a patched .bin and .fls files in the SmartFlashTool method of unbricking. When the SD card gets recognized, I can even reboot the phone and still get the SD card to be recognized. The SD card problems don't happen until the random bricks after flashing a ROM. :fingers-crossed:
I have also tried using several functioning SD cards of different capacities formatted in NTFS, FAT32 and exFAT with no luck. I am also not willing to go back to stock since it is buggy and lags a lot compared to CM7, CM10 and every other custom rom I have tried. :crying:
Thank you for any help you could provide me, or if you have any answer for this problem,
Pablo Lujambio
Firstly when you get access to sd card with cwm or anything get your files backup to your pc.Than try format your sdcard in settings menu on your phone.Did you tried format your sdcard in settings menu?

Yes I did try that last time but I only seem to get a "Can't mount sdcard" error. I haven't been able to get the phone to recognize any SD card on v10a, v20a, nor v20b stock roms.
I compiled ClockworkMod myself and flashed it to my P970 running CyanogenMod, but now I can't flash zips. When I try to mount the sdcard, I receive an error: "E: cannot mount /sdcard". This device's storage is of course located in /storage/sdcard0, so I suspect that might be the problem.
I don't think that this is the problem. Try to clean sdcard then reboot in recovery. If it doesn't mount, share your recovery with me, I will test if it works
I formatted the SD card from inside CyanogenMod, but now I can't mount it at all. If I choose "Mount SD card" in the settings, it briefly flashes the stuff on the card, and then says "Safe to remove SD card". I performed a factory reset, but it still doesn't work.
What version have you compiled?
//Edit
I remember that to get a fully working recovery for our device you need to edit some files in the device tree, maybe you need to edit some .fstab files or BoardConfig.mk, Evisceration has already compiled cwm for p970, you could ask him for help.
//Edit2
To edit .fstab files (maybe you should edit recovery.fstab) look at gingerbread's device tree.

6.0.3.6, but that doesn't solve the problem with the SD card, which I now can't mount at all. I tried plugging in the USB cable but my computer can't see the card. I may just have to buy an adapter from PC to SD. This thread: android.stackexchange.com/questions/55182/cannot-mount-sd-card-with-error-sd-card-safe-to-remove says to format it with a PC, but that's for a different device.

Do you mean that you can't mount it even when you're running Cyanogenmod?
Yes. After I formatted the SD card, I can't mount it even in CyanogenMod. In the settings, I select "mount SD card", but it doesn't mount, and I get a notification "Safe to remove SD card".
It could also be a hardware problem, just to be sure send me your recovery or post your sources.
//Edit
I have compiled cwm 6.0.4.6 using 4.3 device tree and everything works good.

EDIT:
So, the good news is I solved the main problem. I changed the file "recovery.fstab" to have the other possible partition for the SD card, recompiled, and flashed. Lo and behold, it worked! I can now flash zips from the SD card in ClockworkMod.
But I still can't mount the SD card within CyanogenMod. I know I can flash zips with
Code:
adb sideload
if need be, but I would still very much like to be able to store pictures, etcetera, in that 8 GB of space.
EDIT 2:
I went to the store and bought myself an SD card adapter. I used that to format the card, but now I can't even access it from ClockworkMod.
I flashed your recovery and SD card works.
Which file system is your SD card using now?
If you flash a stock based rom from sideload, can you format SD from settings?
I bought a new SD card for $28 and everything works now. Note to self: never format SD card again.
i installed 10.1 and upgraded to 10.2 on my nook hd. I downloaded the cm 11 recovery and cm11 rom and gaps to my nook to upgrade to kitkat. After i downloaded the cm 11 to my nook, the updater took me to recovery. i installed the cm 11, but then had problems. I realized that I was using the cm 10 recovery , and should have installed the cm 11 recovery before I attempted to flash the new rom. I then wrote verygreen's sd card image for cm11 and it did boot into recovery. when i tried to install the rom, the device said it couldn't mount the sd card. i tried using the cm 10 recovery image and that didn't work either. same message, couldn't mount sd card. I then formatted cache, data, boot, did another wipe and same issue. currently, it takes a long time but the nook hd will boot into cm recovery, but same issue about not able to mount sd card. I checked similar threads for other devices, but I couldn't find any solutions. I called barnes and noble customer assistance and they were totallyuseless. My question is how do i get recovery to mount my sd card?
ditto
I had the same issue on my nook hd-
When I wrote the image to the sd card- I could boot in to CWM 6.0.4.6, from that sd card- but it could not mount the sd card, or find any files on it. so I couldn't flash the emmc version. When I pulled that sd card out, it reverted back to cwm 6.0.3.2 (which worked fine with cm10.1) but again, it still can't find the sd card.
/sdcard is the internal sd and while is mounted and navigatable, it's blank and there's nothing to install from it. (is there a way to copy to it from some other device?)
the other option is to install a zip from /storage/sdcard1 but that does nothing but pop up
E: Can't mount /storage/sdcard1
or
Error mounting /storage/sdcard1

I've been following and using the info in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600572
I've used both a linux machine with dd and a windows machine with Win 32 disk imager for flashing images.
I've tried a variety of file systems (does anyone know what is the preferred file system for a grossly oversized micro sd card for CM11?).
I've tried to find a newer better version of CWM, and have found references to a 6.0.4.5b but haven't actually found the files yet.
have also tried sideloading with adb, but the device is never found. with either version of cwm
Would be ok moving back to cm10 as well, but as long as it can't find a SD card, I don't know how.
love this little device, would greatly appreciate any assistance.

after much banging of my head against the wall, I discovered that if i let it boot to the 6.0.3.2 on its own, it would let me mount the sd card that had the initial image written onto it.
So i loaded the new cwm zip and flashed it.
pulled the sd card out and had to let it reboot on its own 4 or 5 times before it popped up emmc CWM based recovery 6.0.4.6
..which then let me mount the sd card as /external_sd and I was able to flash the latest cm11 nightly (yes, I'm a glutton for punishment).
I've pulled the sd card out and rebooted...
AND IT'S BOOTING!!!!
...this is awesome.
Success
i changed sd cards and downloaded the recovery, rom, and gapps on the new card. Recovery was able to mount the new card and I got everything installed. Initially recovery aborted the rom installation, so I downloaded another cm10.1 and was able to flash it. So everything is good now.
Hi everybody!
Yesterday I wanted to flash a rom via recovery but the flashing got stuck at "opening update package" and then CWM said: error opening rom.zip (bad).
So I did a quick search in the web and I've read that my sd card should be formatted in fat32. My sd card was formatted in exfat and it was partitioned so that could have been the problem. So I formatted it in fat32 (only 1 partition) and everything worked again.
What was the problem? Exfat filesystem or partitioned SD card?
Thank you!
No the error you have can also indicate a corrupt zip file. No need to perform alot of hard things just redownload the rom and try again

I think it wasn' t the rom, I have saved it on my pc, then formatted the sd card to fat32, copied the same rom installer and it worked. Without redownloading.
