Well I got it rooted, but what about a recovery. This whole time I thought I was in the T759 forums because that is what a Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G is after all. I figured there would be a 2 or a II for the other one since it is the 2nd version. Am I incorrect? IS there a recovery for this thing or am I stuck with just root?
Thanks
EDIT: IF this indeed is the t679 forums it should be POSTED VERY CLEARLY that that is what these forums are. I can't believe that whomever titled these forums would have missed something like that.
There was somebody who was working on your phone and had luck getting a restore to stock but as far as a custom rom there is none I am aware of. Search all threads in xda with mentions of your phone and the links will show you the path. Good luck and don't try these roms as it will brick your phone.

Is there a Custom Recovery for the T759? I have looked high and low to no avail for a Custom Recovery or ROM. I have tried porting both to no avail....
Anyone?

Our phone got renamed the Galaxy Exhibit 4G a little bit after release, so these forums are correctly named. I am actually surprised that the new Galaxy Exhibit 4G got the exact same name. It should have been called the Galaxy S3 Mini, since that is what it is anyways.

I have a sprint galaxy tab and am so lost on rooting it. I've rooted several evo 4g's,(cm7) and a nook color(cm7). But this sgt really has my tit in a ringer. I've downloaded and ran the superoneclick but it wont grab. I'm a chef...... Not that advanced with tecnology but enough to root, flash every rom, kernel, theme, etc with my evo and nook color. I'm not a dope with android but this one has me spinning. Need to flash any rom, kernel, theme etc with my evo or nook color.... You got it but my sprint galaxy tab is has me looking at my pc like a dope! Once I get rooted and cwm there is no stopping me (I'm a flashaholic) but dam this sprint galaxy tab has me tredding water. Any pointers for a dopey chef would help.
Thanks in advance,

I used Superoneclick with no problem. Did you follow the directions step by step? Maybe you need to install some sort of driver.
Good luck!

I had no issues with mine http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14036052&postcount=4 ... SuperOneClick can get it here http://shortfuse.org/?p=13 and make sure before you connect that you have USB debugging selected, then once that's done just click root and few moments later happy days!
If you can tell me the steps your following then can see whats happening and where your going wrong.
Let me give it another whirl and I'll tell ya step by step. Just woke up and have to go to work so it may be a few.

Wow - very bold!
I have ROM Manager installed because I have read of folks using it with the SGT 7", but it is detecting my Tab as an I-9000. Anyone know how to get this to work right?

Manager is not compatible with the P1000.
Try searching/reading before creating topics, it helps.
But he sent from sch-i800
Is that a Verizon tab? I am not so sure about rom manager for that either though.
But frankly I would be asking too, is first time I heard.

I did search before, that's how I read that people use it. Just can't find the thread again. Plus XDA restricts your ability to search if you are a new user.

...huh?
How do you mean restricts, I am unaware of any restrictions on search or even why there would be a restriction?
I think you must be mistaken.
definitely not restict.
It may not be as good as google.
BTW, you can use google with the site: directive
Rom manager SCH-I800 site:http://forum.xda-developers.com/
But I think TheATHEiST is right. ROM Manager doesn't support any of Galaxy Tab 7 variant.
Basically if ROM Manager does't find your device, it is not supported.
And don't you try to flash other device's ROM into it.
It may be hard to get out from it. Once the bootloader is screwed, you have a brick.
Only way is to use kernel that has Chainfires CWM manager built in. I cant remember which kernel it is though and think it would only be for GB.
Hello!
I've been searching the web and this site for hours with no luck. Every single root I come across is no longer working, has a cracked link, is for the wrong firmware/model and other such issues. I've tried to flash Kernel with Odin but I can't find any working links for that either. So I've made an account and am hoping to get some help! Sorry for being a noob.
I am on the Rogers network. I have a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate I896. I'm running Gingerbread 2.3.3.
If anyone could help me out I would seriously appreciate it!
There are stickies and many great guides all over the forum that show you how. If you read on, you will see that this question has been asked a lot and is always given the same answer.

Download and run SuperOneClick Root (You'll find it on XDA). It should root your device.

I've looked at that, it's not for my phone model.
Thank you for replying though.

I have looked at quite a few of them and have not been able to find any that still work. Most are from 2010-2011 when the phone came out and don't work with the upgrade or have been taken down. As I said in the first post. If you could link me to one you know works with my model and firmware and is still functioning I would appreciate it.
As stated above...use SuperOneClick to get Root. It works. There are many threads in the Q & A forum that have covered this. A quick search will show this. The i897 Captivate and i896 are pretty much the same phone.

I got galaxy tab from my friend today.
I always owned apple products, so im not sure what to do right now.
so I figured that i need to root first. I looked up in this forum forever, but I couldn't find it.
Maybe I did, but I dont know what they are saying...
can anyone help me step by step?
You are joking right?
Search for T849, a dozen thread a least,
And I answered some of them.
If you are too lazy, just follow my signature.
Guaranteed to work.
I have a T849 now running AOKP JB.

Depending on the firmware version, ExynosAbuse should do the trick (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050297).
I got DVALI6 so would be safe? I dont want to end up with a dead phone.

So it worked and phone still working so now I have to back up everything so I don't kill my phone.
Edit: now how do I get custom recovery on my phone I can't find anything?

Do a little more search then just asking laying on your back.
Anyway look for threads in the development section.. there is a few topics that would help you. The titles are self explainatory.
A little digging is good.. then you will learn in deapth and perhaps solv a few things your selfe.
Good luck

Sorry.. dont want to be rude.
But if you read a little more in the forum you will ensure you dont destroy your phone soon.
The easy way then:
1: Buy mobile odin from play or find the creators xda thread and download for free
2: Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914394
Download I9305_CWM_Recovery.tar.md5 to your phone.
3: run mobile odin from your phone.
In mobile odin, scroll down a bit and chose "Open file..." choose the sdcard you downloaded the file to. Now brows to the prev. downloaded file I9305_CWM_Recovery.tar.md5 and run. Dont check any boxes.
Done
But if you want to understand the deapth of the dangers you could encounter and prevent , check this thread from xda:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1967124
All links are from xda.
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA Premium HD app
You can get mobile odin and flash either cwm, philz or twrp recovery with it. Just make sure you download the .tar file. Once that's done you will have a recovery you can flash zips in
